After our last talk with Ellen. She told Ellen "it was all worth it."

Ellen is gifted, kind, compassionate and so much more. Five stars, or a yelp review, simply cannot say enough. I first contacted Ellen when my senior dog Sadie was diagnosed with a malignant tumor on her front leg, and the doctors wanted to amputate. There was no way I was doing that without asking Sadie, and Ellen helped me understand Sadie's wishes and make the decision. I don't remember the details of that first conversation, but I knew immediately that Ellen's gift was real and that I would not be making any more major decisions without her help communicating with Sadie. Later Sadie developed extreme separation anxiety and I called Ellen again. Ellen quickly got to the belief that was causing the behavior and worked with Sadie to assure her that I would always come back and would never leave her. After the phone call, the destructive behavior stopped and Sadie was more affectionate than she had been in a while. Most recently, Sadie began having seizures and I knew that her time was near. Ellen helped me to know Sadie's wishes and also helped Sadie navigate her transition, helping us both find peace in a difficult time. There would be times when Sadie was lethargic, despondent and looking miserable. After we worked with Ellen, Sadie would be smiling and walking around outside. The difference was night and day. I wish I had before and after photos. In our last weeks together, we talked with Ellen multiple times, and the result was always the same - afterwards Sadie was happier, more at peace, and our bond was stronger. In short, Ellen is an incredible person. She has an amazing gift and the most generous, kind spirit. My journey with Sadie was so much richer for having worked with Ellen, and I can't imagine having done it without her. I will always be infinitely grateful for her help. And I think Sadie would agree.

This kitty has light in his eyes thanks to Ellen!

I would like to try your services but I'm confused as how will you be able to communicate with my dog if we had a session remotely via zoom for example? How will my dog properly communicate with you about her issues? Thank you!

Julia at the front desk is so patient, kind, and friendly. She loves animals, and you can tell! When I called her on Saturday, 05/16/26, I had already called some grooomer in the santa mon ica area, and they were all booked for the day and didn't offer walk-ins. Luckily, Julia found a lot of time alot for my pup for 1:30. She was able to open a profile for me while I was on the phone with her, and the check-in was smooth and easy. My pup Toto was ready in about 1.5 hours and looked and smelled wonderful. He had a wash, nail clipping, teeth cleaning, and ear cleaning. Parking: Free parking in this little strip mall, and meter parking nearby. Pro Tip: There is a nail salon just 2 doors down, where you can get your nails done while waiting for your pup!

This place gave him a great grooming in just a few hours, and all of the staff were very friendly. The only thing you'd need to plan around is being readily available to pick up your dog upon completion of service. They have a 15 minute grace period, then charge a fee for 15 minute increments beyond that. Luckily I live close enough to their location that I was able to pick up my dog between meetings. Aside from that this was a very pleasant experience and I'll likely return.

So I understand what it takes to create a smooth and polished coat on a fluffy dog. But sometimes I need someone else to do this job when I get busy or don't feel well. I heard about Seaside from a friend. I live in the area so I called and spoke to Lisa. I guess she's the owner. I mentioned Jinx's nervousness and she told me to come in the next day. She didn't mention that there would be a parade of regulars coming in (about 8 dogs) at that time or that she only accepts cash/checks. I would've come in earlier if I had known so I could've had her undivided attention to go over Jinx's needs. Lisa told me and my husband it would take about 3 hours, so we were surprised when she called us at 2 hours that she was ready. She reported that Jinx handled everything well. And honestly she seemed pretty chill. So that's a plus For her. She doesn't like everyone. At first glance, Jinx looked really cute. She had a cute little neckerchief on. We had to return with a checkbook to pay, as we weren't told about the payment situation. It's displayed on the counter, but it's so uncommon and we were distracted that we missed it. Good communication for first timers is important to establish orientation and trust. Going back home gave us time to evaluate Jinx's groom. I noticed right away there was unevenness on the hair around her face, so I had Lisa correct it. Later, however, after we left, I continued to notice mistakes. Uneven, choppy hair on the top of the head, the sides of the face under the ears, clipper trails marks on the body, and the tail wasn't even touched. While they did a better job on areas like the face and legs than I could ever do, it looked like the job was rushed and not inspected carefully for mistakes. I would normally go back to have things corrected if it was, say, my own hair. But I can't put Jinx through that. She's really a sensitive little dog and doesn't like new situations. So I will correct those things on my own. I'm not sure if I will be going back to Seaside. Maybe for the walk-in nail trim they offer, since they're so close. I really don't like being let down after paying $85 for two 1/2 hours of a basic service, though. While I realize that I am not easy to please And that I'm a perfectionist, I still expect professionals to know their job and perform basic quality control over their service. I would think they'd put their best foot forward for a new potential long term client. You don't get a second chance to make a good first impression. Sorry, Lisa. I liked you and your cute little store. I just think you're a little overbooked and could do better.
