Austyn and Martha, the bartenders, are always there to greet me with my usual glassware, ensuring that I have everything I need. Their friendly banter and Martha's infectious laughter create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Austyn's expertise with the shaker is truly impressive. Even though I'm just a wine enthusiast, but watching him craft a cocktail is always a delightful experience. It's like witnessing a culinary masterpiece in action. Martha, on the other hand, seems to know everyone. She speaks to everyone, even when she should probably be doing something else, and engages on a personal level. When she's not there, I hear people ask for her by name and get all mopey when she's not around. You don't get that kind of response by being mediocre. Overall, this is always a warm and inviting experience (unless there's a kids' movie release, which is not their fault). I encourage everyone to experience it at least once and make the decision for themselves.

I had a very disappointing experience at Cinemark. I went to watch Obsession with my group, which…read moreincluded two adults who are both 24 years old. The manager refused to let us in because some members of our group were underage, even though we had adults present. I've been to other theaters where anyone under 17 is allowed to enter an R-rated movie when accompanied by someone 21 or older, so the situation was confusing. What made the experience worse was the manager's attitude. She was dismissive and rude when speaking to us. To make matters even more concerning, I personally saw a group of white teenagers enter without having their IDs checked, while our group--which consisted of four Latinos and one Black person--was scrutinized and turned away. And I will be honest 2 people were under 17 but it still does not change the fact that the lady was being racist. I can't say for certain what motivated the different treatment, but from what I witnessed, it felt unfair and inconsistent. Customers deserve to be treated with respect and have theater policies applied equally to everyone. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at this Cinemark. I won't give the theater less stars because I been here multiple times and the staff has been nice so the whole establishment does not deserve to take onto what the lady did.

Since this review is concerning the theatre itself, once inside I recognized the bottom portion of the old theatre, with the old top portion now seemingly gone. She was a kind hearted lady who took my ticket, and directed me toward my particular theater house, but not before spending a good 10-12 minutes explaining the on going construction and planned new looks for this location. When you choose seats further back, you can capture the screen experience better on your phone. When you choose seats closer to the front, the movie experience is wonderful, and it cannot be captured by phone. It is a very in the moment experience. My son has been wanting to see Devil Wears Prada 2 and the first one is one of his favorite movies of all time. Personally, I don't like that movie but I went along with him. Tickets are $25 each and they have a $4 parking garage, but we were lucky enough to get a free after-hour meter on the street. It's a nice place and it seems like comfort is their top priority. The recliner chairs are extremely comfy and come with a blanket in case you get cold. You know how movie theaters are always chilly. Once you get settled, you can press a button that sends an employee over to take your order. It's completely optional. We got one small popcorn (light butter, $6) which was big enough for both of us. I like this idea of having the option of ordering and dining at your seat while watching a movie, but the reality is a bit different. It's kind of annoying to see the employees coming and going when someone needs a refill or places a new order during the movie. You can hear them talking and they can even block your view. It's frustrating when you are trying to focus. With that being said, I think it has more pros than cons. There are bars and bathrooms located across the several floors and the one we went to was exceptionally clean. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back to this theatre. I prefer something more standard like AMC or Pacific Theatres (RIP!)...

Last week, we attended a showing of Toy Story 5 at the theater. We learned that not only is the new ownership not offering food service during the transition but intends to abandon that amenity altogether. This is among the most foolish decisions that could be made from a business perspective and will undoubtedly result in a total loss on the owners' investment. The building has a gigantic kitchen going to waste. The screens are small, and the ticket prices are high. The sole reason people have chosen this theater over the numerous options (e.g. Century City AMC) is its special quality of in-theater dining and expanded, up-scale fare. It is absurd that the owners are trying to spin this as an improvement, claiming this unique feature has been "retired in favor of elevated food & beverage offerings -- designed to enhance your cinematic experience by reducing service-related noise, light and other distractions." No amount of polishing to the menu at the tavern will offset the loss of clientele brought on by the abandonment of the in-theater dining option. The owners need only look to the onslaught of terrible reviews streaming in across Yelp and Google or the consensus of complaints in the Reddit community to understand the extent to which this misguided approach will devalue their investment. They will certainly be losing our business until this irrational new approach is reversed.
