Although staff were friendly and the site was comfortable I was quoted a price of $4,000 for a recommended procedure. I checked with three other dentists and the maximum was $1200. They cancel appointments last minute with disregard to patients. every single appointment took me couple times to fit in their schedule . Their text message would confirm the appointment and then I would make it to the office to find out I got canceled because they would give you a call the day before without leaving a message and you have no idea . At the first appt. she was advised X-rays were needed, although she offered previously to have her NJ dentist provide hers on file. At the end of the appt, which she was not please with - she received an itemization of services required - 1 cavity filled $0.00 insurance would cover 2 electronic toothbrush $320.00 ~ in addition, she received a bill for the x-rays the insurance wouldn't cover because they had been taken by our NJ dentist. I have been in health care as a physician for almost 40 years and never seen anything like this. I made a new patient appt for me and my wife for exam/cleaning. Once there they did x-rays and a 2 minute exam and said we can not do cleaning unless you pay in advance. Paid 570$ for what in another place would be $150. Then my wife was told the same and charge $5700 for future work. We called the next day and requested a refund as everything they recommended seemed wild and not good. They promised to refund the money soon and 11 days later they still did not and their excuse "our system is not working" but that same system works to charge you money. I am very disappointed. I had insurance this year, so changed to Aspen Dental because they were a listed provider. I feel that I was greatly up charged. It was like going to a mechanic who says your car needs $3,000 worth of work. You then go get a second opinion and end up paying the second mechanic $100. I showed the bill to my old dentist who said much of the work I paid for was unnecessary and the work I needed was cheaper out of pocket if my old dentist had done it. The service was a disaster from beginning to end. I called the 800 number for my first appointment. I told the operator that I am guessing that they will want to do x-rays and a cleaning on my first visit. I said that I have no problem with that but that I have an emergency chipped tooth and that they are free to provide any service they like but that I need extra time scheduled for the emergency tooth. I said it several times as the operator was vague with his answers. In the end, he assured me that I was in good shape with Aspen Dental and he would communicate my needs. I was on time for my appointment and waiting 30 minutes to be seen. Then an additional 15 minutes waiting in the x-ray room. The x-ray tech was really nice. Then I moved to the actual exam room. I sat there about 20 minutes and the Dentist came in. He told me that I had cavities and looked in my mouth for a minute or two and left. Then the dental assistant came in and analyzed my gums for pitting. (they want to sell me a service for pitting) and this took about 25 minutes. They all left and the assistant came back and said I was done for the day. I shared my conversation with the scheduler about my emergency tooth (the only reason I came in). She told me that there was not time. I insisted that there must be time, I had been extraordinarily clear with the scheduler. She said that she would go get the dentist. The dentist came in and showed me what he would like to do on my teeth. Me: That sounds great but I came in to fix the chipped tooth. Dentist: I did not have time for that today. Me: That is impossible because I was very clear with the scheduler. Dentist: The schedulers always get stuff wrong Me: What steps have you taken to fix that? Dentist: What do you mean? Me: Well if the schedulers are "always messing up" then what steps have you taken to correct it? Dentist: That is corporate and has nothing to do with me. Me: No it has nothing to do with me, it has everything to do with you. Me: If you know that they mess up then you don't you call to verify mistakes? Dentist: ............... Dentist: We will work with you on a schedule. Your care is important to us. We will take you up front to schedule you right now. We are even open on Saturdays. Assistant: Yes, they will call you. #_#_#_#_#_#_# Well two weeks later and no one ever called so I called them today. The first person put me on hold and never came back. I called back and the second person put me on hold again and came back and said that I am now welcome there due to my interaction with the dentist. Me: How do I get my x-rays? Crystal: We will get them to you through email Me: how long does that take? Can I get a physical copy? Crystal: we cannot print them but the email will be there in 7-10 days. Me: The decision was made two weeks ago not to take me as a client. When didn't you initiate this process then? Why did I have to call you to find this out? Crystal: I do not know, that would have been a good idea. Me: I have a medical emergency that you have grossly mishandled to this point and now you are holding my x-rays hostage for 10 days? I as well as both my parents went here. My mom went first and they told her she needed multiple things done including a root canal she completed it all. My dad visited a couple months after seeing another dentist just to get another cleaning in. They proceed to tell him he has gingivitis and need a gingivitis cleaning as well as a regular cleaning done. (which was also what they told my mother). I didn't think much about it and decided to go in this morning and I WAS GIVEN THE SAME EXACT RESULTS. While waiting for my end of appointment consultation the person in the room next to mine was getting the same exact speech from the same exact hygienist. I understand that its a common thing but EVERYONE? They then require you to buy a $200+ tooth brush and rinse and medicated paste. I was called an hour prior to my 2:30 PM appointment to see if I can arrive earlier. I could only arrive 5 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment. I waited in the chair AFTER my x-rays for 45 minutes in which I got up and stop the dentist in his tracks and told him how long I had been there. He came to my room immediately and apologized in which he quickly examined me and then sent someone else in the room who examined me again and said that I was only scheduled for an examination when in fact I was also scheduled for fillings and a cleaning. The second person told me that she could not do the cleaning because there was another appointment scheduled soon. Should have looked up the reviews before I visited this not-so-fine establishment. I only made an appointment because the commercial stated for new patients without insurance they were offering free exam and cleaning. So, made the appointment on line and showed up this morning. Walked in and signed in with the receptionist. She asked if I had insurance with the paperwork I printed out and handed her. I replied I did not and that the commercial stated that new patients with no insurance were able to get a free exam and cleaning. She said yes, but the hygienist does not work on Saturday so I'd have to schedule that separately. Fine. Get 20+ X-rays by a very rushed and fast paced assistant that were somewhat uncomfortable due to her rushing. But free, so again, Fine. Go in for the exam. The dentist was very nice and friendly. Spoiler alert, that's the best part of this review. So I explain that I was having some tooth pain but I was pretty sure it was from the whitening toothpaste I was using. Stopped using it and it's been pretty okay the past couple days. She proceeds to tell me I have two enormous cavities in each of my top back wisdom teeth and that is why I was having pain. Weird, I tell her because that's not where I was having pain? I'm then asked if my teeth were sensitive. Yes, a bit sensitive. I was then told, yep, that's because of the cavity (giant cavity) in my wisdom tooth, even though it was not really near where I had some pain previously. But okay, whatever. The next question I'm asked is if I prefer sedation. Whaaaaaat. To get a cavity filled? I didn't think that's necessary? Then I was told that she plans on EXTRACTING my two wisdom teeth. I explain that's not going to happen because I'm not going to have insurance for another two months. She then tells me she will give me a referral for the surgeon and still print out the out-of-pocket breakdown for me, but by all means it can also wait until I have my insurance. Weird? I think so anyway. My cavities are so bad your first step is to extract them, but then in the same breath tell me it can wait two months? Okay lady. At this point I'm just done and I want to schedule my free cleaning. Que the same receptionist that I spoke to when I walked in, who is now checking me out. She gives me my $3,000+ breakdown for the extraction and a referral for a surgeon that I'm going to shred when I get home. Cool. So I tell her that I'd like to schedule my cleaning. Is the suspense building yet? She tells me the dental hygienist requires a 60% deposit upon scheduling. Not a problem, it's free so I'll give you a 60% deposit of zero since it's free. She then tells me no, it's not free, the exam and X-rays are free. But when I walked in you said... never mind.... okay. So how much is an out-of-pocket cleaning cause I know my teeth and that's all I need. Sure - it's $175. That's fine. I can do that. At which point she suddenly remembers that the dentist recommended a gingivitis cleaning. Okay. How much is that? $350 I'm told. Well, I've never been diagnosed with gingivitis and the dentist that just gave me an "exam" also did not tell me I had gingivitis, so I'm gonna go ahead with the normal regular ol' $175 cleaning please and thank you. Receptionist lady tells me I MUST get the gingivitis cleaning because they can't "downgrade" cleaning if that is what the dentist has recommended. So I won't be going back and I caution everyone with getting any time of consult, exam or "treatment plan" from anyone at this facility. It is a rip off with shady business practices and False advertising. A complete waste of my morning ***update*** went to an actual dentist that has his own practice. turns out I do have to actually get one of my wisdom teeth out. I asked the dentist if this should be done right away. He said since it's causing me no harm there is no rush. I asked if I had gingivitis and he actually laughed and said absolutely not. I received a very long normal cleaning from an amazing hygienist. She took over an hour since I was overdue and made sure she got in every nook and cranny there was. This office is bad news. Oral surgeon did not allow local anesthetic to kick in before tooth removal. Did not explain anything to me, just moved quickly between steps and eventually just ripped the tooth out practically lifting me out of the chair (by my tooth). He also failed to place a bite block (which is made of rubber) and instead kept my mouth open by placing a metal tool between my front teeth. I already had an issue with keeping my mouth open so I asked for a bite block. Had my jaw spasmed I would have bitten down on the tool, shattering my front teeth. Gladly that did not happen! Surgeon is extremely condescending, and does not listen to you. I told him the pain medication they prescribed did not work for me, he told me "well just take it anyway." He then ignored me and left me to the dental assistant, who was the only positive here. She was nice and cordial. I'll be returning for my one week post-op checkup but that's it. I would not send anyone here. Office seems dingy and run down. I would give fewer stars if possible. read more

They called me back and then again waited another 30 to 35 minutes. The assistant that took me back to the room must have been new--she seemed lost. She finally set up for the impression and then said something about letting someone know. Another person never entered the room. I finally decided I had had enough and left. I called to make an appointment but double checked on the price. I was quoted $126.00 dollars for cleaning and xrays. fine. I go in today and no one behind desk. I saw the clip board to sign in, I did so and read a magazine. about 5 mins. later the receptionist comes out. she didn't even acknowledge me, not a "hello", "welcome" etc. first thing that turned me off. I get the xrays taken and then they show me the room for the cleaning. the dentist comes in, she is looking over my xrays and calls someone else in, I hear them behind be talking about how bad my teeth are and all the work I need. she turns around to me and starts telling me all the work I need. I said wait one minute, I came here for a cleaning, I am on a budget with no insurance and can't afford that right now. then she proceeds to tell me I need to come back for cleaning, I said why? because she said we don't do consultations and cleaning on same visit, so I thought now they are going to charge me for a second unplanned visit, I got up off the chair and walked to the exit asking to speak to the manager. the girl said you can talk to me. This location is a scam!my husband and I both went in for a cleaning, and both did not receive them. We were first taken to get x rays, and the tech was very friendly. Then we saw a dentist who claimed I had 6 cavities. The hygienist claimed I had gingivitis and needed a special 2 part cleaning. I found this odd because I have never had any bleeding on my gums and had never had a cavity either. They also told my husband he had periodontal disease and also needed a special cleaning. I must give 5 stars. I haven't been to a dentist because like most have had bad experiences as a child and have tremendous fear of dental procedures. I am currently a cancer patient receiving chemo and radiation treatments, and they were sure to get the release from my doctor to proceed with oral surgery. I need to have all my teeth pulled and get dentures and have no insurance. Jess was able to set me up with a payment plan and it was quite expensive. She did the best she could and applied a $1,000 coupon to my total which helps a lot. And Dr Chadra was very careful not allow the loose post tooth come out during the mold fitting. Thank you so much, He also, as a courtesy because of all that is happening in my health life is affording me the permanent fitting dentures in 6 months time, which I had not previously qualified for. Went here once two years because my insurance covered it. T They took a ton of X rays (made me uncomfortable to begin with, family dentist only ever took 4 images, this was at least 20+). They had 10 people poking around in my mouth and just made me feel entirely uncomfortable. They just looked at my teeth, no cleaning and was a complete waste of time. I was told I had a cavity, and that I would need deep scaling on my teeth (the "team" of dentists they had agreed on this!). I was then told I would have to come back for a routine cleaning, multiple deep scaling cleanings and fill my cavity. All for $750+ out of pocket because my insurance didn't cover those procedures extra procedures. I didn't return because I was entirely too freaked out. Fast forward 2 years... I just returned to my family dentist I had been going to for years before the Aspen incident (finally got the guts to return to a dentist, I was that turned off by the whole experience). Not only was I told by my family dentist, and I quote, "there is absolutely no reason why anyone would ever recommend a scaling procedure on you," but also, I was told there wasn't a cavity! I love this location! I have been to another aspen dental which was fine, but I'm very happy to come to this one. I have always hated the dentist, put off going, which naturally caused issues with my teeth. The staff here is just lovely and gave me a great treatment plan without pushing me to get things that I did not feel I needed at the time. They were very open to listening to my opinion on my dental plan and visa versa. The dental hygienist was very nice and gentle. The dentists are also kind, I particularly love Dr Kate. Like a few of the other reviewers, I was also told that my teeth were in such bad condition that they couldn't do a cleaning on me. After waiting a while in the waiting room, the assistant assessed me and tells me I had bone loss, 5mm pockets and cavities everywhere, and severe gingivitis. She tells me I need a Descaling(?) procedure and a referral to periodontist. The dentist then comes in and says she agrees with the assistant and writes a referral for me. Mind you, the assistant did all the talking and the dentist basically comes in and says she just agrees with the assistant. I came in for a cleaning, but they turned me away and said they don't feel comfortable touching my teeth. What kind of crap is this. I later go to another dentist for a second opinion and they tell me I have a little inflammation and 2 cavities which they can easily fix. No bone loss, no need for periodontist...just a good cleaning. Aspen dental, you are unprofessional and an utter joke. I regret giving you any of my time or money. Waste of time and false advertising. Aspen Dental, states they say yes to helping patients no matter their circumstances. However, that was not the case for me. I had an appointment yesterday 6/18/19 at this location. I went to this office out of desperation and what they advertise. I had a bad tooth that began to reveal itself in March. At this point, it had gotten 3x worst and the pain was intolerable. I had been on a regimen of Antibiotics, Naproxen 500mg for swelling, and Oxy as needed. Let me make this clear. I work in the medical profession. So, I am regularly tested. Also, I would never jeopardize my job for pills. Just not who I am. Now getting back to the situation that caused this review. So, after informing Aspen Dental staff of said regimen. After doing an x-ray and exam. Aspen Dental still manages to prescribe me with Antibiotics and Mortin. Baffled by the lack of urgency, compassion, and understanding that I'm at a level pass these prescriptions helping me. Then to be told if I want the tooth removed I would have to come back next week. Mind you I have was kept awake for two nights due to the severity of the pain. I left their office frustrated, in pain, and falsely guided by their advertisement. Why would you allow someone to suffer even more? How was this helping me? When I had already gotten the same previous treatment. So, I went and google for another office. I came across Fairmont Dental. Said office made sure to fit me in, numb the area of pain, and demand a surgeon to see me on that same day. All which was paid for in cash. Aspen Dental you should be a shame of yourselves. Take some lessons from Fairmont Dental. I vow never to give you my business and never recommend this establishment to anyone I know. P.S Not everyone in their '30s is a Drug and opioid addict. Some people are just in desperate need to stop the excruciating pain that a bad tooth may bring. Next time go the extra mile and show some compassion. Treat and or care for someone as if it was yourself in their circumstance. If you advertise you help anyone in any circumstance. Then follow through with what you advertise. Because what you offer me wasn't help it was simply a failed attempt on putting a bandaid on it. read more
