Went there today to have a temp filling replaced with a permant filling after a root canal. My first visit. Staff was polite and professional as xrays were done , but then more diganotics were done and I was told I had several problems like periodontal disease bone loss and infection. The dentist told me these things MUST be taken care of. I said I just wanted to get this temp filling taken care and that I felt I was being misled. All of a sudden she said that she could not do the temp filling today, maybe tomorrow at 7am. Then I sat with the Business manager and asked how much the filling would cost and it was 3x what I had been told by another dentist last week, who unfortunately didn't take my insurance. And had me leave with no antibiotics or resolution besides removing my teeth. This did not sound right to me so I went somewhere else for a second opinion where I was told my teeth are completely FINE. That I would need a deep clean at best and that my gums seemed to already be improving on their own. They also said they hear Aspen Dental horror stories all the time as they are scammers. !!MUST READ!! They lied to me about a $200 toothbrush, by saying it was included with the cleaning I was getting. I initially went in to get my front molar extracted as it was rotting and breaking apart. After further observation, the lady that works on teeth surgically there (Dr. Paturu) said she needed to perform a root canal on my back molar aswell, so she did so and installed a bridge. Some weeks go by and I developed a major abscess. Dr. Paturu continuously downplayed it until it became very painful and reoccurring. Then she decided to do another x-ray and discovered she missed a fourth canal in my tooth (which means she is responsible for correcting it). She then said that she would have to refer me to a "specialist" to fix her mess up. And it was gonna cost me double what it costed to receive the "treatment" she had just provided. I ended up getting the failed root canal tooth extracted along with the broken down molar. But now I'm left with a capped-shaven down pre molar that had nothing wrong with it. The office experience was awful. We had a 1:00 appointment. At 4 we told them we were leaving. They still expected us to stay. Had dentures made at another Aspen location ( out of state) that according to the Dr at the Arnold store ( I call it a store because it seems their only concern is selling you something) the dentures were not made correctly. They told me they could make me a new upper for $808, after applying all possible discounts. Why am I expected to pay for something that was made incorrectly in the first place? The doctor also told me that the problem was that I have a dry mouth. I would know if this was the case but it is not. (Arnold and Alton, Il) Went to the pharmacy who could not fill because of lacking signature and had to make 20 mile round trip to get them signed. I went here because during Covid they were my only option. Their estimates of services are bogus. They explain everything in a split second and do not give you printed line item detail outlining the work. They include a $300 water pik as part of your service whether you want it or not. They do work without prior authorization from your insurance carrier and then leave you holding the bag for denied coverages. I just got a bill today for over $200 for work done in May 2020. They completely rip you off. They may be polite but watch the financing. They ran my credit for my fiance's dentistry. I asked them not to use it and we would pay as we go until we needed it. They billed the credit 3 months before billing me and for services not even completed yet. After I paid them directly they billed the credit. 9000 dollars I don't even know what for! DO NOT GO HERE. THEY LIE TO YOU. I went there and got a check up and a SUPPOSELY COMPLETE SERVICE PLAN. That included what they said I needed. I signed the plan and AGREED to a price that included all procedure and denture and all cost. I ASKED at least 3 times to make sure it INCLUDED everything according to them and told me I would not be leaving without dentures when my procedures are done. They even asked me WHICH priced dentures I wanted since they had 3. I went with the middle cost option with a warranty. And also was a price of little over 5k for it. I'm a detailed oriented person and asked alot of question and confirm everything BEFORE agreeing. Expecting them to tell me the truth. Well as time goes by when all procedures are done been on a temporary denture that had broke and repaired, and now I'm told I'm about to get my PERMANENT denture. Well here's the surprise. They sit me down at the consultation area telling me that my consultant which was the SAME LADY THAT talked to me the first time and answered my questions several times. NOW says oh they made a MISTAKE that the permanent denture cost was NOT INCLUDED in the price we agreed on. It will be another $3800 for the permanent denture. I go to express what I was told and agreed on before and she plays stupid and said she doesn't know who I talked to but that was what I signed and only included temporary ones not permanent ones. Which was at a cost of $2600 for the ones I selected which was told to me that was cost for ALL THE DENTURES from beginning til the end. SO now she just keeps redirecting the subject and dismissing it and even said we'll maybe I can talk to corporate and maybe I can just pay half and they cover the other. BS. NOW she has another lady come and basically tell me I have to go because they have another consult. Now they have not contacted me or nothing wth a resolution. Then I remembered that I was going to go there because I was there almost a year prior with my girl and she has the paperwork, but didn't have enough money to go thru with it. Which I also went with her on the consultation. Needing and wanting basically same thing. Well guess what same paperwork. About same cost and was told same thing. That the cost INCLUDED ALL PROCEDURE AND DENTURES. If I have to guess this us a game they play. As I can tell when I brought it up with the consultation lady, she tried to act surprised and stupid, but can tell she was lying especially since he was the one that talked to me the first time. So I was a new patient, the texted confirming my appointment asked for me to arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork. I arrived at 3:43p.m. The paperwork took less than 2 minutes and I handed it back. I was the only one in the waiting room for at least 10 more minutes. Then others arrived and checked in after I did. One by One each of these patients was moved to the back for service. I waited another 10 minutes and then nicely approached the desk asking why they were taken since I arrived first. The receptionist said it would be another 10 minutes before they got to me. So in Total, I was waited over 25 minutes already. I nicely suggested that they shouldn't treat new patients like this it is very disrespectful and I walked out. I made an appointment for a check up and regular cleaning and I chose Aspen because it was close and my insurance changed. I go to the dentist every year for this. They told me I can't have this done that I have to follow their plan. Their plan involved deep root cleaning for periodontal disease, at the cost of almost 3 grand out of pocket after insurance. Funny how no dentist has ever told me I needed this. I knew that I needed 3 crowns and my copay is 235 for each crown. The dentist, once I got to him was great. it was similar to a timeshare presentation, trying to sign me up for everything, even braces (invisalign) and I'll be 57 this year. What the website doesn't say - Payment for procedures are due prior to scheduling an appointment or no appointment. If you cancel the appointment they take about 2 wks to reimburse. In my opinion that is too long to wait for a money-grubbing dental practice to refund money they demand you pay prior to services being performed. Root canals are only done on Friday with a 2 wk wait. If you are in pain, you wait. Antibiotics are not going to make you pain free while you wait on them, no matter what they say. Office staff was somewhat inept (wasted time looking for insurance coverage in state although she was advised what state the insurance coverage was for and could not find appointment in their records for 10 minutes.
