I am a very nervous patient who feels everything without a lot of novocaine. I have been treated very well by this office. I was a patient years ago and left when they were hit with a cybersecurity ransom problem that was a huge issue for their records and company. They were able to deal with it, keep my information safe, and made it easy to return. They are not at all like some of these reviews describe. They are helpful, not mercenary, and are willing to be very gentle with an easily panicked person. Their care is excellent. read more

I have never been so violently flossed in my entire life. My entire appointment felt like an infomercial for the latest gimmick they were selling. The hygienist told me I had early signs of gingivitis and then proceeded to talk through my entire cleaning about some fancy treatment I could do that I'm sure no insurance actually covers. She then flossed my teeth so aggressively that I was bleeding and proceeded to point out that bleeding gums is a sign of gingivitis. No, ramming my gums with floss is what's causing my gums to bleed. I'll be looking for a new dentist. read more

I should have gone running out of their office, screaming the first visit, when they told me. "All of your teeth have to be pulled." My previous dentist who retired had not told me any such thing. Then they said "Well, I suppose you can keep that one." I had at that time 5 teeth pulled, they made an ill fitting partial, left huge pieces of roots in my mouth, that a year later are still working their way out. They did not bother to tell me that I had cavaties on my upper teeth, 4 of the teeth were little cavaties, but they didn't bother to tell me. The dentist had decided that my teeth (would become unsavable, regardless) they overcharged me, by a quarter of the money I paid, and ended up having to refund me, after I took it to corporate. I found another dentist, who has filled my upper teeth and yes, I will, because of Aspen in Auburn need to loose all my lower teeth, and get bone grafting and implants, as a result of cavaties that could have been fixed. read more

Horrible place to go, don't bother! After plunking down 500.00 for the 3D X-Ray last week, I was brought into an exam room by a female who was SO unfriendly! She didn't say a word to me, except at the end, "Give the doctor a few minutes," and walked out the door. I had already been told they go to lunch from 1 to 2, and my appt was at 12:00 and it was almost 12:40 when I went into the exam room, so I definitely felt rushed. But you can't be friendly? She also left me in an exam room with a dog crate and food inside the crate that didn't smell that great. I love dogs and have 2 of my own, but aren't dental offices supposed to be sterile? The endontist came in and said what I already knew, that the tooth needed to be pulled, but it couldn't be done until the next week. It didn't matter that I was in extreme pain. I then had to go into an office at the end where the girl told me my insurance won't cover an implant (when it fact it absolutely does), and she told me my bill would be 5,000.00. She said if the surgeon extracted my tooth, I would need to decide right then and there about an implant. She said I would need a bone graft the same day. I thought that was weird...I have family who had inplants done, and it did not have to be at the exact moment of extraction, but that is what I was told. I called my insurance, who told me outright, "Do NOT go to Aspen!" I ended up calling another place in the same town, and THAT oral surgeon told me the bone graft was not necessary on the day of extraction. Not only that, they quoted me almost THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS CHEAPER...NO EXAGGERATION! Avoid Aspen if you can. They aren't interested in patient care, but instead, they only care about what's in their patients' pockets!!!! read more

I purchased upper dentures about 4 years ago. Over Memorial Day I broke them when going after my favorite food (Corn on the Cob) I mean the dentures were broken clean in half with a tooth that broke off also. I brought them down at 12:30 and they were ready by 4:30. They were like new. There wasn't a charge, just smiles from the staff thanking me from coming in. I'm impressed especially by the fact they give you estimated times for procedure. This place just wants to make money off of its patients. My experience was the same As the others- I was told I would need a special cleaning after an hour of being there and would have to come back for that. I asked the hygienist if it was more expensive and she said the front desk would go over the prices with me. I floss and brush regularly and have never needed a special type of cleaning. I went online to schedule an appointment, entered all my info and at the end it comes up with a message that says a routine exam can't be scheduled online and to call. Seriously, disregard the bad reviews. My experience with Aspen was nearly flawless from start to finish. Scheduling, and changing, my appointment was easy. My one complaint is that the receptionist wasn't prompt about checking me in. That being said, my hygienist Anne, the woman who did my x-rays, and the dentist were very kind and thorough. Horrible!! I was a patient there and I broke my front tooth in half on easter and I called them for help. They said come in the next morning and they would take care of me. I came in on a Wednesday and I saw a new doctor on staff and he had no customer relationship skills at all. I was upset and I didn't want to walk around with a hole in the front of my mouth for days. I don't know what kind of doctor he was, but he had no other skills at all. They took an Xray and then I saw this idiot. He said you need a cap, but no one was available today, so he said make an appointment, so I did for Friday at 9:00am and gave them an over $400.00 deposit Thursday night they called and said the doctor was sick and was going to be out for 2 weeks. I said I can't walk around with a hole in the front of mouth for 2 weeks and they said no one was in that could make any decisions. They said I will give you 2 options, wait 2 weeks or we will give you your Xray and go somewhere else or we will call you tomorrow if there was someone there that could make a decision. I called a Precise dental office in Shrewsbury at 6:00pm on Thursday and got an appointment for 9:00am Friday morning. Aspen never called me back. Friday morning, I had a filling done at the new office and its perfect. They said you may need a cap in the future, but this filling should last a while. They were awesome. I called Aspen Dental Auburn back after my work was done and the I spoke to some woman with a weird bird name. I asked why they never called and got no answer. Then I asked for a rebate of my over $400.00 dollars, and they only gave me around 300 because they charged me for the appointment with the idiot with no personal skills. I was definitely upset but Auburn staff is a Sh@t show and they don't know how to talk to people. Bird woman spoke over me the whole time I was trying to talk to her. I will definitely dispute any charges from them on my card because they deserve nothing. read more

Since I started going to this dental office, it's almost impossible to see the same hygienist more than once. They're either no longer there or they're "out today". So a "doctor" did my last cleaning. I have had my teeth cleaned 100s of times. I can tell if someone is competent or not. This "doctor" was clumsy, seemed new at the job, and never even tried to clean the inside of my lower teeth. And that's where a malposed tooth usually needs the most attention. I should want to mention that I added the information of this hygienist's personal comments after I posted the review in which i said i was much better. Better informed at least. Its hard to confront and detail on the first draft when its that bad, frankly..... There *was* some great restorative work done here by the specialists, BUT, seriously, take the not so great reviews seriously. That's what yelp is here for. I was a customer here and was subjected to some unnecessary dental pain (and verbal abuse) from a hygienist in the form of an easily-avoidable puncturing of my gum-line with a metal tip of a tooth scraper. While water-scaling the back of my upper right tooth, she then lifted the scraper off that tooth and it went INTO the gum between my two front teeth. It was a small but noticeable jab that did not even touch the teeth. And I think she added more pain the way she removed it. Then we are curiously all done with the procedure and she says oops sorry and I'm like yikes that hurts wtf? and she says it was nothing. It wasn't nothing. The spot was sore for a couple of days. MINIMIZING PAIN INFLICTED ON YOU IS A MAJOR RED FLAG OF CONCEALED INTENTIONS. . She earlier told me I need to clean my tongue, but didn't tell me what a tongue cleaner was. She also didn't mention my need for a special gum cleaning that I have now gotten somewhere else. She has literally told me "Yeah? Well, I don't care" when I tried talking to her about home care. This chaos on her part is not an issue in nearly any private (happier) practice. So, I have to contend that this was personally motivated, given her admitted carelessness, and some unwanted personal comments from her, including homophobically mocking a blue men's winter scarf, with hand flits, weird sounds with her mouth and everything when no one could see but me. That is sexual harassment. Her name is on the plaque outside their front door. That same day she also asked me if I pay rent, which I do not in the house I own but that's none of her damn business. So I said yeah whatever, so she comes back with "You do? Because when we lived with so & so's mother, she didn't MAKE US pay rent". That's a real hygienist? I can believe she stabbed me intentionally. A call to the home office was met with the regional manager first threatening shut the call down, then whispering, then shouting over the phone that he defends these people so loudly it hurt my ear. Thanks. I'm doing MUCH better now that I'm somewhere else where I am sure I am always getting replete care. And no negative energy that you can find in a low-oversight chain. On Xmas Eve 2021 I got a nameless, unsigned Fed Ex letter from the home office saying I could not get care from them any more, but would not say why. It was because of a review I had posted. I then started somewhere else and discovered everything I really needed that was not mentioned to me at AD. So, I almost lost my teeth because of this place until they "fired" me as a patient! If I had stayed at AD I would have literally stayed ignorant about my oral health. And heard more unneeded comments. No thanks! read more

STAY AWAY! I went for a check up and they said I needed a filling which later fell out and needed repair. The next check up they said I needed seven fillings. I told them I didn't believe it and left. I followed up with another dentist and was told I didn't need anything done. They took advantage of me and the fact I had insurance and now I believe I never needed the first filling. read more

I am TERRIFIED of the dentist. So far they have made me very comfortable and carefully explained each step in treatment. I have found the staff to be pleasant and the system efficient. I was able to make my first appointment on line and fill out new patient forms before my first appointment A very helpful young woman was able to negotiate the maze of regulations to make the most advantageous use of my insurance coverage I'm still terrified, but the office and the professionals who staff it are helping make the best of what is, for me, always a scary experience. read more

Waited an hour to just have xray and an exam. When I was scheduled for a cleaning. I was then told after my exam that they did not have time for a cleaning, which was the whole reason for my apountment. No one over the phone told me I would not be receiving the cleaning the day of my apointment because had I known I wouldn't have gone in. Waste of my time completely. I'm actually really happy with this Aspen Dental office. I was surprised by how competent and friendly everyone is in the office. The dentists always show me my X-rays and point out clearly any issues with my teeth. I never feel like they are trying to make money off of me like I've experienced at other dental offices. I had to have my wisdom teeth out and one of the office staff sat down with me to price out the costs with my insurance. It turned out that my dental wouldn't cover much of the costs, but they suggested I call my medical insurance. It turned my medical would cover it all (although I had to go to a different dentist). I was really grateful for the tip - it saved me about $900. The office is quite nice and there is a Keurig coffee machine in the waiting area and there are personal flat screen TVs on every dental exam chair to distract if you don't like the dentist. read more

I am not sure that anyone should go to this place unless they need emergent care. I have generally had really good dental health. I just got dental insurance again so I went in for a cleaning - was given X-Rays and a BRIEF exam by the hygienist and then a dentist. I was told by the hygienist that I did not have gingivitis, but they would recommend a gingivitis cleaning to prevent periodontal disease. I have never been recommended a treatment like this, so I asked the dentist if it would be covered by insurance. She said it likely would. I then am told to sit down with the office manager who will go over insurance with me. The bill comes to $600, including the gingivitis treatment and cavities they had mentioned during the exam. I asked to be shown the line by line items. In there was a $135 toothbrush. The dental hygienist had mentioned the toothbrush during the visit, but I didn't agree to buy it. The gingivitis treatment was only partially covered by insurance with at least $200 of extra treatments. I asked if I could get a regular cleaning given that they mentioned I don't have gingivitis and was told that they would not be able to do so and I would need to seek care elsewhere. I felt pretty bad after leaving (2 hours later and without any cleaning at all!!!). Everyone was perfectly nice - but I felt like I was being scammed. I am so disappointed with the services and the cost of services provided by this dental agency and the lack of response to my many inquiries to speak with someone regarding my concerns. I visited the office due to some tooth pain when I walked out of the office I had paid $4,522.00 for a cleaning! I was such an idiot to believe them and their smooth-talking office manager who sold me on the service. Buyer beware if a dentist needs to bring you into a separate room to discuss services with you like a car salesman trying to add a service contract to your new vehicle. Run! Yes, I put $4,522.00 on a credit card and they still sent me a bill for an additional $483.84. No other dental work was performed, no filling, no cap, no crown, nothing outside of a deep cleaning! I tried to contact the office several times, I called and emailed the corporate office, no one could even bother to call me back. I'm sure it won't be long before they send me to collections. I needed 2 crowns. They prepped the teeth and made an appointment for the crowns. The day before the appointment they called to tell me an appointment opened earlier , did I want it. I said yes. I arrived for my earlier appointment and was kept waiting until the original time. While I was waiting they said I could pay them. They wanted $350 more then quoted. After a verbal todo, they admitted I was right. Took my money and brought me in. Once in the chair they informed me my crowns wouldn't be in for another 10 days. Of course no offer for my check back I needed to fight for it. read more

UPDATE to my earlier review. I went in to Aspen today to discuss the issues in my prior note. Had a great meeting with Giselle about the billing issues. Insurance had made a payment since I spoke with her so everything was at least current at their place. I am still waiting for my insurance records from BCBS to see why certain charges were not covered. Giselle explained what she could and showed me how their billing and insurance info works. HUGE TIP - They are not required in many cases to get an insurance estimate prior to treatment. ASK FOR ONE! This is not an estimate generated by Aspen. Get the one from your insurance carrier. This will take time so, if you need immediate help, make the best decision you can and live with the results. If you can wait, you will know upfront what your out of pocket expenses will be and why the other expenses are not covered. Aspen actually makes more money from what you pay, 100%, not the reduced rate that insurance usually pays. Challenge those expenses and weed out the fluff, like Fluoride treatments for people over 19! Also, don't be afraid to call your insurance carrier. You might get the answers you need a lot quicker. Me, I like to get things in writing. Saves potential headaches down the road. I have upgraded my review to legit 3 stars, for now. I am still waiting on more info from insurance then the replacement of a crown. For now, I give them credit for good Customer Service and a clean, state of the art facility. However, they do need to work on the wait times. It would be nice to know if they are running behind at the time of check in. read more

I scheduled an emergency appointment over the weekend with Aspen Dental of Auburn MA via their website for Monday at 9am & received a confirmation email. I then called their office at 7am Monday morning to confirm that work would be performed & not a consultation. I explained that I was in agony & unable to eat. The receptionist confirmed that my appointment was to have emergency work performed. I took the day off work & drove to Auburn for 9am only to be told on arrival that they weren't able to confirm my appointment so they had canceled & given my appointment to another patient. The receptionist confirmed that we had talked just 2 hours prior, but he shrugged & stated that's what the doctor told him to say. I am absolutely beside myself. How can a medical office operate like this? At 7am I had a confirmed appointment, but by 9am they had given my appointment away & couldn't reschedule? I haven't eaten in 3 days. I can't find another appointment. Completely disgusted with this place. read more

So far, arranging for both in the same day has been too taxing for the collective competence of the office staff whose only excuse seems to be "it's company policy". Got a tooth pulled today at aspen dental in auburn. I have never had such horrible treatment from a Dr in my life. He was yelling at me while under the nitrisoxide because i was wincing in pain and I guess closing my mouth . He spoke rudly to me and I am appalled and frankly confused. I was crying in the chair like...what could I have done to make this Dr so mad? He left the room and I asked the MA why is he being so mean? He storms back in the room and says very aggressively "Oh I'm being mean?!!! You're the one who wouldn't keep her mouth open! Do me a favor next time you need a tooth pulled get sedated!" Even if i was thr most difficult patient in the world i should not have sloken to this way. He tried to blame it on the nitrisoxide (sp) but i was there i know what happened. read more

Worst dental office I've ever been to. Their dental work is awful and has changed my bite. When I mentioned it to them while still in the chair they told me I was wrong. Teeth I have had work on bother me more now then when I had the cavity. Now they tell me I need to pay for a full procedure prior to my next appointment, after I have already paid for half. For the sake of transparency, I am making it known up front that I am related to the business owner, however to remove all biases, she is NOT my dentist! I also have robust dental coverage from my employer so this review is not a quid pro quo. I have NEVER received preferential treatment! I felt compelled to write it due to the complexity of my dental needs and how pleasantly pleased I am with the outcome. Additionally, I want everyone who has been told "no" to not accept it; you have options! I was missing two teeth on the lower back of my mouth for several years. I had considered implants, but I have a low tolerance for pain and instead went with a partial. Thing is, I kept losing it and finally decided on implants. I consulted several dentists including my own and my case came with complexity; the space from one of the tooth had shifted bring it quite close to another tooth. I was told that it would be a very difficult process and I could see it being so as there was very little space to work with. I was disheartened as this open space would be very visible when I speak. Looking at it in the mirror, it did appear too small for an implant. Out of desperation, I consulted Dr. Jasmin Henville who referred me to Dr. Lee. Dr. Lee assured me that he would be able to implant the screw. He conferred with the other dentists and they sorted it out; I was indeed a candidate for two implants and a crown. After the insertion of the screws, I had a mild discomfort when the blocker wore off and only took 800 mg. of ibuprofen . The follow up visits were to reveal the screws, add a temporary crown, and obtain impressions. Knowing that I am a nervous Nelly, I was apprised every step of the way. Yesterday, I went back for my final visit, the insertions of the implants and permanent crown on the third tooth. I was greatly impressed with the total client focus of Dr. Mogre. It was a time consuming process to ensure proper placement of the smallest implant, but I never saw an expression of annoyance. The assistant was just as pleasant; the interaction between them respectful. In addition to the excellent care received, here is what I witnessed in the waiting room and throughout. Waiting was minimal upon arrival, I never felt rushed, everyone from the front desk to the dentists were never an elitist or condescending in their responses to my many questions or directions about my dental health and most importantly, they accommodated my request to plug in my headphones as it is my source of comfort. The best part, as a presenter, I no longer have to measure how I speak to prevent the camera from seeing my missing teeth. I now feel complete and I wholly understand "getting my full smile back". read more

I visited the office yesterday, the girl that checked me in was great, the assistant, great, the dentist, great. I then go to the financial area to discuss my plan and how much it would cost and had Jason return my call this morning, I have Delta Dental PPO, they are in network, I requested a pricing on the 3 major things that need to be done, one being a deep cleaning (scaling), I was given a pricing of $12,000.00. which $7.500 would be my own responsibility. This just seemed ridiculous considering I am in network with a PPO plan, have 80 percent coverage and responsible for 20 percent I contacted my insurance company and spoke to someone, who said the same thing about the cost for a deep cleaning in particular. As he said I should be covered at 80 percent, he gave me a number and told me to have Jason call with a pre treatment assessment, Jason told me he could not call as that's what he did yesterday even as I asked him to call again because something is not right, he then said he would email it in but could take 30-60 days to get back, now all along I have a fractured tooth which is affecting my jaw, need badly the scaling done and the Veneer filling. He still proceeded to tell me he cannot call again. This is an emergency matter and to be told to wait 60 days when I carry insurance is questionable beyond reason and I have every right to know what I was being actually charged for. It seems absurd that it would alone cost approx. 10, 000 for just the deep scaling with 20 percent being my responsibility which he said was 3,000, approx. 1,500 per each side of my mouth. Aspen states that you want to help your patients but in fact the experience I had with Jason was unprofessional and he showed absolutely no compassion for the me and my concerns and health. I also asked to speak with the office manager or his manager and he told me he was the manager and there was no one else I could speak too! After all this, of course I was in panic so I asked if I could then just come in and get a regular cleaning (covered at 100 percent) at least for now and he responded "no" as it would not be beneficial to me as this is not what the Dr said I needed. So I then proceeded to say I cant afford 3,000 dollars just for a cleaning and want a regular cleaning and you are saying no to me? I felt like the office just didn't want to help and very disappointed in the treatment i recv'd from him. I have never heard a patient being told they cant have something or they have to wait, Shame on Aspen Dental! and don't worry, if you think I am only sending this to you, you are wrong, I will be sending to Corporate as well read more

Worst experience i've ever had in a dental office. They took 6 X-rays and wanted to keep taking more. Before they took the first one, I asked them if there was a cost and they said no. After the 6th X-ray, I refused to take anymore and they told me if I didn't take more they were going to charge me $108 for a partial consult. At this point, I hadn't even made it to the dentist's chair yet. I felt like the reason why I needed a dentist wasn't a priority, the priority was how much money they could get out of me.
