I've been a patient for many years with Welcome Smiles however there's been a big change in their communication and care for their patients recently, to the point where this is my first ever review. It's at the point where I will be switching to another provider. The most recent issues are as follows. Due to an infection I was told I needed a root canal. The procedure was performed by an outside provider and the experience was horrible. At no point did that dentist seem to care about my discomfort and anxiety. After completing that procedure I was told I needed a crown. They never informed me ahead of time that I would need that. As I was checking out I was told, " of course, whenever you have a root canal you need a crown"! No consideration was given to inform me of this before the root canal so I could plan accordingly. Understand that both of these procedures are expensive (even with insurance). I then go ahead with the crown appointment. As the dentist begins the procedure I question why he's working on a different tooth. This is when I'm told that the tooth I had the root canal worked on already had a crown on it and that the tooth he was currently working on needed a crown. Shouldn't I have been told during scheduling that the crown was for a different tooth? I most likely would have chosen to pay off one procedure before scheduling the next procedure since it wasn't an emergency. Shortly after going through all this I then receive a phone call from the dentist himself, asking if I'd like to set up work on another tooth!! In all the years I've been going to a dentist, never has the dentist contacted me directlv about future procedures! This is when I feel this dental office has become more about getting money from patients than their care and needs. Fast forward to my most recent appointment. I'm scheduled for a replacement crown (the one I had cracked). I was told to plan on an hour and a half. This dentist makes the crown in their office so I was made aware that there would be about a half hour or so that I would be waiting for it to made. However, as I Wait and Wait and Wait, I can hear my dentist working on another patient in the next room. He finally comes back to me to finish. It was now 3 HOURS LATER!!! RIDICULOUS!!! At no point during this time did an assistant or the dentist check in with me or give me an explanation. It was as if I didn't exist!! It sure seems like he's double dipping to make more money by scheduling one patient between another patient! I guess he doesn't feel my TIME is worth anything!! WRONG. I will be moving on to a provider that genuinely cares and communicates clearly with their patients. I would think twice before going to this office! read more

Horrible. I've been coming here for many years, along with my family. It's gone down hill fast since Dr. Gusar retired. Recently I had a cracked molar that needed a root canal. Neither dentist in this practice can perform a root canal, which is obviously subpar. So I needed to wait 3 weeks to get the procedure from a visiting endodontist they contract with, who only works there half a day every other week. I suffered for 3 weeks and was not offered any pain control other than ibuprofen. Meanwhile I developed a big abscess which caused even more pain. When I finally had the procedure, it was intensely painful due to the abscess, which makes lidocaine less effective. Afterwards there was again no pain medication offered, just advice to take ibuprofen which is totally inadequate. I also was told to get the tooth crowned or capped as soon as possible or it might crack more and need removal. But guess what? The soonest appointment they could give me for that was 2 weeks out. I've spent many tens of thousands of dollars at this practice over the years, in cash, but this is it for me. Moving on. Never again. When you need them, they aren't there for you. read more

I'm not quite sure how to approach this, but here I go.... Imagine being able to finally afford to get your teeth straightened and having to go through at least 2 years of braces at your adult age. Then it's time to get your braces removed & you're also consulting with this dentist about tooth restoration on one tooth that is pivotal to your smile. The whole time, I worried about the costs, but I was eager to finally complete my smile. Then you go for a consultation with the dentist you've been a patient of for at least 2 years, & not only do you expect full price transparency, but you also ask. You ask & make clear; this is all dependent on the total costs before you can even proceed with the restoration. Imagine you get a quote of what was said, the full costs for this procedure through a text message, not an invoice & when you respond, what are the expected costs after insurance? They confirm in that same thread that the out-of-pocket cost is $, so you approve proceeding. Fast forward to an overall 4-step procedure for 1 tooth restoration crown that you 1) were not briefed on the entire process, 2) received an extra estimate of over $2 grand halfway through the restoration process, again, via a text message. When you ask for clarity and if this is an error, the front desk says there are secondary costs not sent to insurance yet, and she will let me know how much is covered. And it was suggested that I charge the additional costs to my credit card. This place maxed out my insurance deductible to the point that I'm not even sure a dental cleaning is covered this year. I'm medically indebted to a half procedure, in which I'm still making payments on a CareCredit card they referred me to. I'm making payments for half a job of work, when I asked for confirmation on the total costs back in February. I have a metal screw (abutment) where the crown is supposed to be, and I can't fit my retainer, so my newly straightened teeth are spacing, so back to braces for me, with this screw still hanging. My appearance is altered, my confidence is shot, and again, I am medically in debt. Is it fair that Dr. Mehta and his incompetent front desk, who he's responsible for, Irene, get to stay in business after this avoidable, controllable situation that has now turned into my personal burden? Is it ethical that they're very familiar with how insurance works and said they could've done this in the latter half of the year, so I can complete the remaining half of the restoration the following calendar year, so my insurance would cover it, after the fact? Is it ethical when I asked for a complete file, I see they only send insurance bill but there are no actual invoices attached to my file? It's just receipts. Is it right that the only alternative was Dr. Mehta, offering to remove the screw and reapply it next year, so my insurance can cover the remaining half? Can anyone answer how that would work for a process that was already charged? Let alone, this is a painful procedure & lengthy process, but Dr. Mehta suggested. When I called out the lack of transparency, & this was a completely out-of-pocket expense, had I known this was a later cost, I could've been able to negotiate a lesser price, this doctor that owns the same practice said 'you're absolutely right' but still didn't give me the option to negotiate. I was robbed of comparison, shopping alternative dentists, choice, the ability to prepare, & save thanks to Welcome Smiles. This is not good practice. These are not good people. These are not competent professionals. I was treated more like a customer than a patient. read more

The very first day I walked into Welcome Smiles, I sensed that it was a dental practice superior to any I'd seen in my 63 years. All of my experiences with them since that day have confirmed that initial impression. I first came to Dr. Mehta with some known, fairly serious dental problems. After some initial diagnostics, he took the time to sit with me to explain in detail everything I was dealing with, and together we came up with a plan to address the problems most effectively and efficiently. Because I had had a good idea of what the problems were before I first saw him, I could tell that his analysis and recommendations were reasonable and that he had my best interests as his only concern; this has been true ever since. He's earnest in his work and he's a pleasure to work with. This is state-of-the-art dentistry at Welcome Smiles, and I've appreciated Dr. Mehta's willingness to answer my questions about it along the way. I first noticed little things; for example, that his Novocain works noticeably faster than the Novocain that other dentists use. I asked him about this, and his answer was quite interesting. One time he did a crown for one of my teeth, and he was able to measure for it, create it and install it, all on the same day, right there in his office, using sophisticated CAD technology linked to an onsite manufacturing device; he was happy to let me see this technology in action and to show me how it works. (I remember the old days when first, dental impressions were made, then a temporary cap was installed, then the patient returned after a couple of weeks to have the permanent crown installed.) There's a warm sense of welcoming about this place. The waiting area has comfortable seats, reading material, and free beverages. The whole place is clean and comfortable. The staff all are outstandingly friendly, helpful and capable, and they handle all of the details, like scheduling appointments and working with insurance companies, with expertise and patience. I'm grateful to Welcome Smiles for making me feel good about going to the dentist. read more

I am beyond impressed with Welcome Smiles! After switching insurances, I decided to switch my dentist as well and I am so glad I did! Their facility is clean and has a calming atmosphere. During my first appointment they gave me a tour of the office and introduced me to multiple staff. Dr. Mehta sat down and took his time explaining everything and answered each question I had. I've been a patient for several years now. I have always been treated by Dr. Gusar but he has retired and is hopefully enjoying life to the fullest. I am obsessed with my dentists office. I would recommend this place a thousand times over. From cleanings, to fillings, to infected gums, to consultations about invisalign, they're fantastic in all aspects. Not only is the staff as friendly as it gets, the environment is so clean, there's free WiFi, there is always parking, and its accessible to all major road ways. I really cannot say enough good things. The dental assistants, hygienists, secretaries and doctors are all wonderful people. I have NEVER had a bad experience at this office and I have been a patient for over 15 years. read more

There are so many aspects of the practice that are par excellence; and to mention a few includes the following: ~clinical acumen & expertise of the physicians, of the hygienists, of the billing & scheduling staff ~exceptional learning arena (since when can you go to the dentist for a crown and with the help of an R2D2 look-alike walk out of the office with a well-fitting, comfortable, permanent crown ?) ~respect for patients and their diverse needs---yes! RESPECT! ~detailed explanation of what the problem may be, diagnosis, treatment plan, and follow-up monitoring ~staff respect for each other---my goodness! I saw Dr. Metah 8 months ago, after an unsupervised dental student fractured #9. It has been extremely complicated and a long rectification. (It is a 2 year fix). Dr. Metah has been great: professional, with an exceptional staff, he has a comprehensive plan and has orchestrated it very well with Dr. Verdier of Worcester Periodontics. The FINAL end result is now only 12 months away. read more

I've been a patient here for several years and always been more than pleased; thrilled actually. However, my past two visits have been disappointing. This time, after my cleaning, I had to wait over 10 minutes for the dentist to come and do his piece. I'm sure the quality is still fine but it's lost its luster. read more
