If I had no stars to give, I would give no stars as a review! Aspen Dental and their billing are a disaster! I have to keep calling my insurance to check if the claims were even filed, and it seems they were only filed recently on 6/8/25! We're talking about claims dating back to 09/24 up until now. They want to send me collection calls without having properly billed my insurance first. It feels like they're trying to backtrack, and they didn't do a pre-determination of benefits to inform me about my out-of-pocket expenses--how is that fair? Instead, they bill me for everything and send me to collections before going through my insurance for payment. It looks like they want to get paid twice! The receptionist is incredibly rude and seems incompetent. Instead of being professional, she argued with me and told me, frankly to my face, that if I didn't like it, I could go elsewhere! Well, I will do just that, but I'll also warn future clients about the issues I've faced and how nothing is being done to fix them. It's clear they don't care about their customers, charging for services that may not be covered, and calling me for payments on bills that haven't even been sent to my insurance. I have two insurances and a discount plan! This location feels like a fraud and needs to be investigated because I can't be the only one experiencing this! My advice? Review your account and call your insurance to see if they've paid before you give them a dime! read more

The dentist told me I had periodontal disease and needed A LOT of expensive work. DO NOT GO HERE. I first went to Aspen dental with some pretty bad tooth pain. They told me they could not see any problems, but then took a bunch of x-rays and said they could see tiny cracks. Recommended a 3k root canal. I went for a second opinion and the second dentist told me there were no cracks and the pain was from grinding. recommended a mouth guard. 6 months later I went again for a cracked tooth. The tooth wiggled, had a big crack down the middle, blood coming out of the crack... They told me the tooth was NOT cracked, the dentist barely even looked at it. Took more x-rays and said it was not cracked. I of course went for a second opinion (again) and the second dentist essentially said WTF, the tooth is very obviously cracked in half and was very clear about my options. Whatever you do, do NOT go to Aspen dental. They are incompetent, unprofessional and are going to seriously hurt someone. They also prescribed me an antibiotic but never actually sent the script to the pharmacy. More incompetence. Going here for an actual tooth problem is a danger, avoid at all cost. read more

Insincerity! That about sums it up. The reason they give new patients free X-rays and full mouth exams is because they are completely DISHONEST about the appropriate treatment plan for the diagnosis in question. How do I know this? Because they gave me a full set of complementary x-rays, but I decided that the prices were way, way over my budget and exorbitant by any other dentists' standards. So then, I scheduled an appointment with a different dental office, and they told me that I absolutely do NOT need a root canal or a crown on the same teeth (tooth numbers 28 and 29) that Aspen x-rayed. They told me I just needed two simple cavity fillings. At this point, I'm not sure what to believe! The only way I'll ever go back to a dentist is if I'm in complete and total agony! Awful! my appointment was at 9:00AM. I was a few minutes early and I had already filled out all the forms online. After waiting an hour at 10:00AM, I approach the receptionist and ask why am I still waiting? She checks her charts and says I'm sorry I'm not sure but you are next. I told her no I couldn't wait any longer so I left. terrible customer service!! And so per the comment from aspen dental I called the number for their patient satisfaction team and of course was instantly put on hold with the recording stating my wait time was greater than 10 mins . I visited the Main St. Cartersville, GA office today for what I thought was a broken tooth pain. I knew that I had multiple dental problems to a couple of health issues. Dr. Patel and the hygienist were the absolute best at explaining the issues that had brought me to the office. When I asked about other dental issues Dr. Patel spent quite a bit of time explaining my options to me. I have an appointment for tomorrow and will proceed with the plan suggested by Dr. Patel. This place is absolutely terrible. A free X-ray & exam were supposed to be in the new patient package however I only received the X-ray. Then they proceeded too tell that they think I should get all of my teeth pulled because they don't think I will take care of them after they didn't include the cleaning. Then as she is checking my gums she chips my back tooth, makes them bleed & says I have gingervitus which I know for a fact I do not have. The bleeding was from the tooth she chipped & didn't even say anything about it surely didn't fix it. After all of that they would inform me that the dentures were to cost $20,000. I will definitely be going somewhere else & I want to warn all of you that this place is absolutely terrible & a complete waste time. All I got were my feelings hurt & another chipped tooth. This letter was sent to the office manager and a phone message was left for the office manager. This letter is in reference to an office visit at the Cartersville Office of Aspen Dental. On 04/13/22 about 10;00 am I scheduled a visit to the Aspen Dental Office. Prior to this appointment I had been seen by my primary care physician concerning an infection. This was identified when I had blood work done and my white blood cell count was elevated. The infection area was identified as being in my upper teeth on the left side of my mouth. I was referred to a dentist. This diagnosis was discovered on 04/11/22. I then contacted my regular dentist. While unable to get an appointment for the next two weeks I was able to speak to my dentist over the phone. She advised that due to the pain I should seek an appointment at an office that can accept an appointment sooner than two weeks. My dentist stated "They must treat the infection" and ascertain the cause and treat the tooth that is causing the issue. On 04/12/22, I did my own research on Web MD and various other medical sites. All of my research resulted in the same information as I had been previously told by both my primary care physician and my regular dentist. Treatment for the infection is a must through antibiotics. On 04/13/22 I made an appointment at the Cartersville office. Upon my arrival I explained to the x ray technician the issue. She took numerous xrays. I then spoke with a dentist. I was told the tooth would have to be extracted, I was fine with that, I then asked about antibiotics for the infection. He stated "You do not need that, they will not do any good". I then asked for a referral to a Periodontist to possibly save the tooth. That was apparently something they did not want to hear and I was given a referral. I was then ushered into the finance/billing office. I was given an estimate of $2056.00 for the initial and then I was told I would have to see this office four times a year for the rest of my life at 289.00. I told the finance person about a root canal and cap on a tooth that only lasted three months several years ago and I felt this was excessive 1156.00 per year for the rest of my life. It was obvious at this point that further treatment at this facility was a bad move for the aforementioned reasons, especially the refusal to treat the infection. On 04/13/22 I was able to get an appointment at a periodontist. Upon arrival they conducted a thorough examination, where I actually saw the dentist. I was told that the infection needed to be treated FIRST and I was given a prescription for antibiotics. I was also scheduled for surgery 12 days later. I was advised that the infection needed to be under control prior to surgery. I was given an estimate and they thoroughly explained what was going to have to be done (something they declined to do at Aspen Dental). I was also told that there would be follow up visits, 2 and no requirement to come to them for "rest of my life" It was apparent that Aspen Dental did not want to treat the cause for tooth ache, the infection and extraction and only wanted to run the bill up as high as they could "for the rest of my life". Please do not insult me and try to claim this was a misunderstanding. These were comments that were made by the staff. read more

Office staff including dentists are the most rude, uneducated, and under-educated people in dentistry. Ripoff on charges, especially if you have insurance. The staff was so inexperienced that it took 4 different ppl and many hours to just do an impression for a partial. Even the dentist himself thought my natural teeth were false when they were real! Felt tortured when he did an extraction, and was intensely rude when I said it was hurting. He yanked, twisted, etc. to to extract one tooth! He obviously was on the lower end of graduates! Also, had a partial that was only made a few months ago, and when it broke they refused to replace it!, even though warranty was not expired! The repairs were very fast and both times the same day. However the repairs lasted less than 30 days the 1st time and a week the 2nd time. The office manager was very rude and refused to make any kind of concession or offer a discount of some kind towards a new upper. I expressed myself and admittedly out of sorts. They also sent me prior to this visit a notice that I had a $90 credit. I went into the office and was told the credit would be sent and credited to my credit card within a week or 10 days. This never happened. When my plate broke after the 2nd repair they wanted another $225 to repair my upper. I told the manager I did not want a 3rd repair as they did not fix the 1st or 2nd try. Gotten my teeth pulled and given a denture. And it all started awful I should have walked away. None of the drs were on the same page. No one seemed confident. They have cost me a lot of money and time and I have nothing to show for it. They tricked me I to signing something that assured them I won't get any other refunds. They lied about it all. After I was assaulted during a home break-in, I was diagnosed with severe PTSD. Because of that, I have a service dog. I have a severe phobia of having anyone I don't know in my face and I was already really afraid of dentists before I was assaulted. I made an appointment for an extraction. I was told they'd be able to fit me into the schedule since they had already had a cancellation that day. When I got there, I was told that neither my service dog or my husband could stand in the room with me. I explained all of the above to three different people. One of them gripped my shoulder and said, "I said NO!" And another one said, "Well, you will have to get over all that if you want anything done to your teeth." They also told me that whoever scheduled me for an extraction appointment that day either lied to me or I was lying about what was said. I told them my husband was in the lobby and he heard the conversation I had with the people who made the appointment which is why I was there. I didn't need an evaluation. I already knew the tooth needed to be pulled and I had a referral and xrays with me. They did not care. At all. I begged for my service dog and husband to just be in the room in the corner. I would recommend that anyone who is considering going to Aspen Dental in Cartersville find another dental office. I was very dissatisfied with the level of care I received from this office. I had a filling done here, and during the procedure the dentist and her assistant did not seem confident at all, and it made me feel like I was not receiving a professional or competent level of dental care. I let them know how dissatisfied I was, and that I would not be returning to Aspen. When someone is drilling holes in my teeth, I would prefer that I feel like they are knowledgeable enough to complete the procedure correctly; however, it was later proven to me that this was not the case. Only 6 months later, (at a new dentist) X-rays revealed that the filling they had done was now dislodged, and that the air pocket behind the filling had done additional decay to my tooth. I had to pay to have this filling corrected at the new dentist, (because I was not confident in Aspen's ability to do it correctly the second time) and pay for the same filling twice. I was going to let the whole thing go; however, Aspen has now contacted me and wants additional payment for this incorrect filling because my insurance did not pay a small portion. I contacted the local office and they told me "tough luck", and did not give me any contact information for someone in corporate. I am very dissatisfied with the way I have been treated, both in and out of the office, during and after the filling. If you want a dentist that knows what they are doing or a company that cares about its customer service, avoid Aspen Dental at all costs! read more

I walked in for my appointment that had been planned in advance. I was even running late and called to let them know. No one "smiled" until I was being seen by the ex-ray tech. The Lady at the front counter with her head down or looking at a computer, didn't even give eye contact or say "hello" or "welcome". When I had asked for the patient forms, she was quick to say that 'your apt was cancelled' as if she knew my name, still no eye contact. I explained that I was running late for my apt, but I called first and was given permission to come on over as long as it was before 4:30. The most disgusting part was having the ex-ray's done and realizing half way through the process, the biters were used, recently as a matter of fact. There was tech that was in training, tried to explain how they were cleaned in a box, sterilized, but I really wanted to gag. She proceeded to tell me that I must be a hypochondriac, that's ok, she was young and just saying what was in her mind at that time. The biters were quite worn, obviously dingy and stained and smelled as if I had just put something in my mouth after other patients, it was awful. Toward the end of the visit, Mr. Patel; Dentist, was friendly and knowledgeable. He answered all my questions and I was ready to get the process started to get what I had planned for, a simple procedure. Despite being grossed out by the ex-ray process that I would never have to do again, I trusted that he could do what I needed for my teeth. I was told that the hygienist was going to come in for the next step and talk more about deep cleaning, but later I found out as I was told that she was "too busy" and to just go to the office manager for the full details of your work and pricing. I sat patiently waiting, only to find out that whoever the office manager was, she was "too busy" too and never came and with the notes. I finally asked one of the workers if it was possible to just get the notes and pricing emailed to me. She was hesitant at first, but then said it would be ok. 24 hours go by, still no details of the work or what they wanted to recommend for me. I still haven't received the price for what the appointment was initially scheduled for. I received a survey request, but that comes as an auto dialer, I don't think they really cared what I thought about my first visit. While I was in the office, no one other then Mr. Patel and the ex-ray tech seemed to care about their duty in the office. The others seemed more concerned about what ever else held their attention as a lot of chatter amongst themselves was taking place. What happened to customer service in the work place? What happened to the feeling of safe and due care in the medical field? Could the biters have really been in someone else's mouth prior to mine and not been sterilized property? I hope this visit was a fluke for me since there are 4 other good reviews. I never even heard of Aspen Dental until a commercial I saw on TV. I did some research and the appointment setting rep made it seem like it was going to be a good experience. I should have just stuck with the Dentist I used last time. It's an expensive deal, having to get assistant with your teeth. The least amount of effort the office staff could have done is make the visit a better experience and more inviting to ALL their guest. I'm so disappointed. read more

I recently came in for a full workup and the front was great. As far as the Xray tech she was super smiley but I wasn't impressed or comfortable especially with the girl she had with her training she informed me my blood pressure was in a to high and I need to inform my physician but during my extractions it was normal not the 200 like it was my first appointment. When I came in for my extraction the man dr saw me instead this time and I felt much better and his assistant Erica put me at ease. The two of them are a great dynamic duo team! I never once saw him look up once while multiple things were handed to him which made me comfortable knowing the trust they had in each other. Scam Alert!!! My insurance listed them as an in network dentist office, so I called, made my appt, gave the insurance info, etc. The appointment itself was slow but ok. When it came time for the doctor to come in, we waited a long time. Then I go to check out, and I am told to pay $34.00 for services my insurance would not cover. I explained that I had verified 100% coverage with an in network dentist office and doctor. I left stating that I was calling my insurance to find out what was the problem. My insurance company stated that Aspen had called yesterday and verified coverage at 100% with Dr. Patel. However, Dr. Dickson was the dentist that checked the cleaning. I called the dentist billing department and asked why Dr. Dickson was used when they had verified 100% under Dr. Patel. She threatened to end the call. I walked into Aspen Dental and asked to see the office manager; it was the same woman!!! I told her that it was funny that she was the manager and to cancel the rest of my appointments that I had scheduled for next week. I reported Aspen Dental to the business bureau and to the local media. I have filed a grievance against Aspen Dental with my insurance company. I paid over $2000.00 for a set of new dentures. In less then 6 months, I've had 3 of the teeth pop out and needed to have them re-glued. In addition, the bottom partial rubs my gums and keeps them sore. It makes it scary to try and eat. I would go back to my old dentures, but my gums have adjusted to fit in the new ones, and now I can't keep the old ones in my mouth. It looks like I will be forced to pay even more money and buy another new set next year. If I do, it won't be at Aspen Dental in Cartersville. This office is horrible. read more

Good Lord, stay away from Aspen Dental! I took my 82 year old mother there in April 2015 for a toothache. I called several times to set up her tooth extraction and coordinate with her cardiologist because she has heart disease, a pacemaker, and 4 heart stents. Her cardiologist did NOT recommend she go off her Pradaxa (blood thinner), as Aspen required, because she was at such great risk, but the tooth was killing her and she HAD to have it treated. Mom went off her medicine for 7 days - as instructed - and I took off work to go with her. The dental surgeon immediately informed us he couldn't extract the tooth unless it was in conjunction with a hospital, and, since he was a "traveling" surgeon and only there occasionally, it would be impossible. So my mother risked her life to be off Pradaxa AGAINST her cardiologist's advice FOR NOTHING. The appointment NEVER should have been made in the first place! And it wasn't as if I hadn't called and spoken with the office staff repeatedly to set everything up. We even had a consultation with Mom's heart doctor over this. All I saw was TOTAL INCOMPETENCE and disregard for a patient's welfare. I demanded a refund and left with Mom's dental charts. It took another 3 months to see a surgeon who could perform the tooth extraction and everything was wonderful (thank you, Atlanta Oral Surgeons in Cartersville!) and the procedure was performed WITHOUT her going off her medicine and in about 45 minutes. But guess what, to add insult to injury, Mom's Humana insurance claim was denied because Aspen Dental submitted a claim saying THEY had completed the surgery and Humana wouldn't pay benefits for a tooth that no longer existed. This has been a freaking nightmare!!! Another afternoon on the phone trying to deal with MORE problems from Aspen Dental but this time I'm writing a terrible review because that's what they deserve. Straighten up your act, Aspen, before you cause serious harm to someone. NONE OF THIS EVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED. read more

Do not go here unless you have unlimited amounts of time to wait around while they do who knows what instead of seeing their patients. They are either understaffed or incompetent at keeping a schedule, not sure which. I had a 945 AM new patient appt. I arrived at 928AM and checked in, completed paper work and then proceeded to wait for nearly an hour before they took me back for xrays. Then, I sat by myself in the exam area for 15 mins waiting for the hygienist to check my gum levels, then another 15 min wait and Dr shows up and says everything looks normal. Then, they sit me at the checkout desk and I wait another 15 mins, complained that I have been there since 930 (its 1130AM at this point) and they tell me the xrays were backed up or something along those lines as opposed to "Im so sorry, this usually doesn't happen" it was more of a "too bad, get sued to it, our time is more valuable than yours, you have to wait!". No one ever scheduled me or checked me out so I finally just walked out after two hours for a 30 min initial consultation. If you want your time wasted go here. If you expect to get seen at a reasonable proximity to the time your apt is forget it. How long does a actual cleaning take if it takes 2 hours for an initial patient apt??? Im never going back and I am the head of household so I am going to cancel my children's appointments also.
