I normally don't post reviews unless I'm trying to help promote an awesome business but this needs to be said and hopefully will save others a big waste of time. I went to Aspen once before and left unsatisfied but I'm desperate and thought I'd give them another chance. The whole franchise has predatory practices. When calling i told them I have a partial. I broke a tooth, I'm trying to schedule with them because I know they have the capability of fixing it in-house. I'm not coming in to be told I can get cool snap ins for the price of a car. I made the appointment for 2 and was called at 1 and was told I can start heading there now...kind of pushy I thought. I get there 145 sign in and wait until 215 when I ask if I can use they're restroom. I'm the only one in the waiting room. While I'm in the bathroom they call me in my phone. I didn't answer. When I came out I asked the receptionist if she called she said yes we wanted to know if you were coming in today. We didn't know you were here. .... the sign in sheet was right in front of her. My name clearly on it and the only one not crossed out. I go in the back get a ton of unnecessary xrays. I'm literally there for one thing. Now here is where they tell me I'm a new patient and need all this. I explained I'm not new, been there before and am not interested in a whole work up I'm in pain and my partial won't stay in. I need an emergency repair. While I will stress they were all nice and seemed happy to be there, they seemed very inexperienced. While holding the xray thing in my mouth the tech kept hitting it with the camera. Not once or twice but multiple times. Then they insist they can't do the repair I'm asking for that I need a denture now, not disputing that bit without going over cost or asking my opinion they move to doing impressions. I didn't object because I'm going to have to do something and if the cost isn't crazy at least I'll have this horrible step out of the way. The first tray is my bottom. ... I'm here for my top. She put so much stuff in it it was in my hair, all over my face and it didn't even turn out. The second attempt was just as bad. They bring in a new tech she did the bottom 2 tops and 2 bite wings. 7 times I had to go through that and if you know you know what I'm complaining about. Next and last phase.... cost. I go up front and sit down. The girl shows me 2 papers. One said $8,511 and the other $29,0000. I'm guessing one tradional and one snap in option. We discussed my insurance. I know my insurance and it covers the denture or at least part. I asked for a breakdown and was told that's all that prints out. It said NOTHING. I asked how much was the periodontal cleaning that they always suggest to everyone. She couldn't tell me and said she will need to put in a ticket and I'll need to come back Monday. I said I can call and was told she rather I come in at 8 am. So essentially, I wasted my entire Friday going there yet again. To use up all of my x. Rays and whatever else they're going to charge my insurance, I still don't have a repair. I still don't have a price list or an idea of what I'm gonna do moving forward. Even if I decide to spend $29000 I'm not confident at all that they are professional or skilled enough to do the job. Gave me nothing for pain or antibiotic to avoid any possible infection. Only out for your money and to bill your insurance whatever they can. *update.. called today to ask for breakdown and was told they do not offer a breakdown of services they will only show computer screen. Not they won't schedule an appointment for work until you accept the fees.... but they can't tell you what they're for. I'm contacting my insurance and letting them know how their in-network dentist operates. read more

Whatever you do, do not go to Aspen Dental. They do not care about your well-being. They only care about how much money the can get out of you/your insurance. Came in on a Tuesday because my gums surrounding lower left wisdom tooth was clearly infected. Was in pain and gums were very swollen, to the point they were covering a significant portion of the tooth. I was leaving for a week long vacation on Friday, so I asked if it was possible to treat the infection and then to schedule the extraction for when I returned from vacation. Was told no, both my lower wisdom teeth had to come out asap. I asked if I needed to be put under for the procedure (I did not state that I was against this, I just wanted to mentally prepare myself and arrange for a ride if needed) and was told it was not necessary. Dr. scheduled me to come back Thursday morning for extraction. They gave me an oral rinse and a promise that they'd submit a prescription for Motrin that night. The prescription was never submitted so I had to call back in the morning and wait until the afternoon for medication. Medication still did not clear the pain, as my gums were very infected and inflamed. Oral rinse did nothing to help with pain. Extraction was very difficult. Requested gas prior to numbing injection but was told they just did not have any! Injection was EXTREMELY painful. Had to be numbed again in middle of procedure. Was informed that my lower left wisdom tooth had to be broken into pieces to remove because it was embedded in the bone. With all the x-rays taken at my initial visit, this should have been clear to see. After injection wore off, I was in intense pain all night. Had to call in the am to request antibiotics and a stronger pain killer. Not sure why antibiotics weren't prescribed right away, seeing as gums were infected. At first I didn't question it, because I figured the dentist was the expert. But now I suspect it's because dentist was worried that if antibiotics started to make me feel better, I might cancel the extraction. Have read several online complaints after extraction claiming that Aspen dentist are paid commissions by the procedure. But still not sure why antibiotics weren't prescribed for immediately after the extraction at the very least. After 3 days, my stitches fell out because my gums were simply too infected to hold them in. After 5 days, I had to seek a dentist in the area I was on vacation in. He informed me that: 1. I should have been placed on an antibiotic immediately after my first visit. 2. My gums were way more inflamed than they should be 5 days post extraction. 3. A general dentist should never have attempted to extract a tooth embedded in the bone. I should have been referred to an oral surgeon. 4. I have nerve damage from the procedure and I have to see an oral surgeon to assess the extent of the damage and if it will require surgery to correct (if it even can be corrected). It has been 10 days since the extraction and I am in pain around the clock. So much so, that I have not been able to sleep more than 3 hours a night. I spent the majority of my vacation sitting in the hotel, alternating heat packs and cold packs on my jaw and sobbing. I can barely open my mouth. My lower lip and chin still have a numb sensation. Whenever a slight breeze hits my face, my chin burns and contracts painfully from the nerve damage. My gums surrounding the extraction are still bright red and the opening has barely begun to close. The left side of my face is still swollen. Thank God I will be seeing an oral surgeon tomorrow. This dentist should have known better, and I fully suspect that she did. She should have referred me to an oral surgeon, but she never warned me that this extraction could be beyond her skill level and the possible complications I would face. Also, they tried to tack on a $150 electric toothbrush and $3,000 invisilign. Dentist I saw on vacation said there is no way my teeth need invisilign. Learn from my mistake. Do not go to Aspen Dental. I only went here because this was the only dentist I called that could see me in less than 2 weeks. Now I see why. read more

Be aware of billing issues!! I kept having different balances, talked to office manager, receptionist or whoever and was told different excuses. The balance was from my cleaning in 2019, but she said I could come in for my cleaning, only to be told when I arrived, I still have a balance! Being it's 2021 of April I called AETNA in the dentist office, only to find out from AETNA I had no new claims submitted nor did I have a balance. Plus my cleanings were free twice a year!! The receptionist called me up and said don't worry about the outstanding balance it's now $0.00....maybe they heard my conversation with AETNA saying," what's the dentist address and who's the dentist?" Be mindful of your billing and make sure your provider is in network also check your dental insurance claims from ASPEN!!! read more

First of all, the staff is certainly very friendly. But that is about it. We have recently moved to the area and needed a new dentist. Wait is always so long in the waiting room after my appt time. Most of us can talk about dental experiences and so I compare these guys to previous places. I wouldn't recommend this place if you are wanting to get in and get out. Their comprehensive exam and X-rays take way too long to go over so plan to spend the day there. Unwilling to provide quotes for services (even with providing current treatment plan from another dentist, tooth#, surface, description and insurance billing codes provided.) claims dentist won't allow it. Customer service is utterly horrible. I've been waiting for my invisalign to be delivered for almost 3 months now. Every time I call someone tells me they will get me an answer "in a few days" or "by the end of the week" and no one ever calls. I'm getting married in 2020 and wanted to finally have my teeth straightened for the big day and the weeks just keep flying by. This is adding so much unnecessary stress. I wish I never would have gotten invisalign through this place. **Update** 12/11 I learned that the dentist that took my scans no longer works at the office, the case was supposedly "transferred" to Sterling Heights (but Sterling Heights doesn't have my files), and the scans were never submitted. I was charged the day I got the scans so I've been paying for nothing for four months. I've been calling for two months just trying to get an answer and had an office manager assure me she would get an answer a week prior but it's extremely obvious no one cared enough to even call me back. I'm blown away by the incompetence of the entire practice. **Another Update** 1/20 I am still shocked at the incompetence of this whole company. I FINALLY spoke with their "new manager" who promised he would call me back shortly after the 1st of the year but once again, no one ever called. Hillariously enough, I was only contacted BECAUSE of my commenting on social media. NOT because of the original case. I was billed three months of interest over the period of time that I thought I was getting invisalign and I thought it was reasonable to request a refund after they utterly failed at providing the service I paid for. Once again, I was only given empty promises and told that someone would call me back. I'm so completely disappointed with Aspen Dental I'll probably remember this experience for the rest of my life. I regret ever stepping foot in their office. I guess 150$ is the price I pay for trying to get Invisalign the cheap way. Please don't make the same mistake I did. I went to get two fillings done and a teeth cleaning. This was the most, absolutely terrifying and terrible experience I have ever had with a dentist. I have never had a problem going to dentists in my past getting fillings, never felt any pain either. These people are clueless as to what they are doing. I was actually crying and the dentist still went back to drill more. When numbing they hit the wrong spot and numbed my jaw muscles so I couldn't open my mouth, had to numb my teeth 3 times before they got it right. Which needles don't bother me but waking away for 30 minutes after the lidocaine is put in, having it almost wear off at that point is a problem. AND TO TOP IT OFF the fillings were done incorrectly according to my new dentist which is amazing, and I had to get them re done a few months after. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone, they do awful work, listen to many of the reviews and don't go here. I was Literally scared to go get teeth work done again which I have never been before. read more

Took two teenagers there for first time. Was told they had a combined total of 20 cavities! What? They've never had a cavity thus far in their life. Took for 2nd opinion and astonished neither had any cavities. This is fraud. Stay away. They want to drill on 20 perfectly good teeth so they can can drain my dual insurance. read more

This dentist is more trouble than it's worth. I was jerked around on appointment days and times. 3 strikes and I'm out...never going back. Super unorganized and a waste of my time. Receptionist was not helpful either. Told me that I should have received phone calls and text alerts. Um..nope..didn't receive any. She tested pushing an alert and still nothing. I went to Aspen Dental Chesterfield for dentures. It was one of the worst decisions I have ever made. I already had an upper denture so they used that as a model, that one was fine. But the lower denture does not fit correctly in my mouth. I told the dentist numerous times, he filed it down in different areas but it still doesn't fit good at all. At first the dentist said they would have to make me a new lower denture but on the next visit he said they could not make me a new one. The lower denture moves around in my mouth causing me discomfort and sores on my gum, it is very painful. If I could do it over I never would have gone there. Now I'm stuck paying $1000 for an I'll fitting denture that causes me pain and they never fixed. read more

I got my wisdom teeth removed in July and had to go through many hoops to get my insurance verified and cleared before the procedure (which is another horrible experience on their part as well). After my insurance was validated, I paid the remainder (in full) of what insurance did not cover and paid extra to be put under. Being that I got my wisdom teeth out, I thought everything was fine. Since July I have been receiving endless bills....after being told I paid my portion completely before I even got my teeth out. It is at the point where I'm receiving collection notices now, and they still have yet to correct this problem. Answered all my concerns about removing two crowns, filling the two cavities that developed under those crowns and ordering new crowns through a computerized system. Also giving me two temporary crowns that are so comfortable. So happy. Now excited in two weeks I get my permanent crowns. read more

Worse dental experience of my life. Went in for a dental emergency.I am pregnant they took x-rays and dentists informed me that there was supposedly no infection. I informed the office and dentist about the severe pain. After an hour and a half was told I would have to wait til Tuesday to get the tooth out. After being in extreme pain for 5 days with little sleep, an infection,and not being able to eat.Also was prescribed pain meds that gave little to no relief bc the tooth was infected. They tried to charge me for the visit and did nothing except x-ray I wouldn't recommend them. They didn't consider the severity of my situation,and put me and my unborn child at risk and wasn't compassionate about my pain at all. Never go there again. read more

This is the worst dental place I've ever been to. 1) they do xrays, ok, I know my teeth are bad that's why I came here. 2) Dentist & hygentist both tell me the same thing, that I have an infection in my mouth, (duhhhh, I knew that) but , neither of them gives me a prescription for any type of antibiotic. 3) they want to charge me over $7000. to fix my teeth and finally 4) all they want you to do is buy their toothpaste they sell there for $27. per bottle (yes she said bottle) and an Oral B electric toothbrush! Thank God the consultation & xrays were free, because I sure as hell would never let them work on my mouth & all of this took them 2 and a half hours....NO THANK YOU!!! read more

Anyone THINKING of using ASPEN DENTAL on Gratiot/23 mile for their dental needs? Read on: Decided to try Aspen Dental. Crooks! Told my son he has 8, yes 8 cavities plus gingivitis and that they would have to do a procedure (we would have to pay for) BEFORE they would clean his teeth. Told me I have nice teeth but ALL OF A SUDDEN I have full blown gum disease. I've never had a bad check up ever. Will cost us out of pocket $1200 PLUS a painful procedure (consisting of scraping my roots) BEFORE they would clean my teeth. Got a second opinion and went back to my original dentist. My son has 3 cavities (2 from previous), not 8 and they cleaned the buildup off his teeth and we are being much more careful with our cleaning. No costly procedure for him. I went back to my original dentist today for MY second opinion and a cleaning. I DO NOT have gum disease at all and I got a good outcome. Aspen Dental told me my back teeth number ranges were 4s-5s. My original dentist diagnosed me at 1s, 2s, and 3s. Also Aspen Dental couldn't get my son's insurance to go through properly and told me it was my responsibility to fix it since it wasn't in THEIR database. They tried selling me everything they could in between all this as well. I will NEVER, EVER recommend them to anyone. Previous to this ordeal, I went into Aspen Dental to inquire about their practice and a man put his container with his dentures on the counter. The receptionist asked how they fit and his exact words were, "not even close." Guess I should have known then to walk out. read more

My husband and I have been going to Aspen just over a year now. The reason for four stars is they can be a little scatter brained (I understand, they are super busy), but other than that, we love them. The staff makes my husband feel super comfortable (he has a fear of dentist offices) and they're always so nice to us. I felt like I had been going to them for years. Aspen dental in chesterfield is the best decision I ever made the staff are very friendly and the Dr is very nice and friendly Tina is awesome Cathy and everyone working there couldn't have made me feel very comfortable even tho I was scared every time I went in fir extractions they always made me feel comfortable and that's important to me. I highly recommend them and I will also tell you that I didn't have a ride to my appointment so I called to cancel and they called me right away and offer to send me Uber which they did and I got back on the Uber when my appointment was done and it took me home and I don't know any dental that would do that . Don't do it. This place is a nightmare in the works. Went in for some tooth pain was told I had to have 2 easy extractions and 9 cavities filled, sure no problem. I pay $1,780 bucks for everything UP FRONT only to find out extraction day AFTER she broke my tooth in half that my roots were twisted and she couldn't do it. Had to have a "surgical" extraction. Didn't give me shit for pain and I left in more pain than when I came in. Had to wait a WEEK AND A HALF. Mixed up my payments, quoted me the wrong price. Mixed up my appointments. This whole place sucks, they don't know how to read x-rays clearly. Avoid them unless it's a last resort. read more

This is the dentist office you go to if you would like to be ripped off. They told me I have periodontal disease and that it would cost me 1800 dollars to have my teeth deep cleaned. I knew that couldn't be right so I went to a different dentist for a second opinion and was told I'm not even close to having periodontal disease and paid only 131 dollars for my deep cleaning. They also said my husband had periodontal disease and he's been to the dentist every six months for his whole life, so again that was possible. They lie about how bad your teeth are, then charge you way more then needs to be spent. This is a fraud dentist. Also, I had four cavities, they told me I only had two because they were bigger cavities so they would get more money and neglected the other two because they're smaller cavities. They don't care about you're teeth, they only care about how much money they can scam out of you. STAY AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY THOUSANDS ON BOGUS DIAGNOSIS!! read more

this dentist is awful !!! i took my son who is almost 8 years old to have a tooth pulled, it was terrible! at first they did not even have the correct x rays up for my son. when procedure began he cracked the tooth sideways, then chipped away at it. we did an xray afterwards to discover he had not got the entire tooth out. we never went back into a room, they left my son and i standing in the lobby area, meanwhile the gauze he had in his mouth was dripping blood. i had to ask for new gauze!! we never saw the dentist after the procedure. we were left standing and waiting in this lobby for about ten to fifteen minutes before i started asking " what is going on ?" i dont think it is very normal to not speak to the dentist afterwards about xrays, or what the next step is to do. i was informed by a receptionist/biller that we needed to go now see a pediatric oral surgeon due to the fact that the enitre baby tooth was not removed. thankfully they said i had no charge since they could not get the tooth out. let's hope they can help with the next bill . the receptionist, the biller and the dentist i thought were all very rude to me. this is not how people should be treated, especially a child who was already nervous. read more
