I had my appointment at Aspen DeKalb yesterday and had a great experience! From the moment I walked in to the end of my dental appointment- everyone was welcoming and very professional. Did not have to wait long at all either. Isabelle is wonderful and very helpful. Justin and Lally did a great job taking my X-rays. Dr. Patel spent time with me explaining what needed to be done for my implants and answered all my questions which was really great. I usually do not write a negative review, but this office was like being hustled by the mafia. The appointment was rude, the desk person and the dentist were nice, but the verbal, rude, insolent abuse by the office manager was totally unprofessional. In the industry of self care, dentist or doctor, should represent fostering a relationship building environment. This was not. I found someone that will care for me and not abuse me. Who needs this. I went to aspen to get a console and was astonished to hear that I would need a full mouth extraction and full dentures. Before I get further into my review.I want to add that the girl who was doing one of my digital xrays dropped the instrument on the floor and then tried to put it back into my mouth without cleaning it. After I was given this news, I was told everything had to happen quickly before I even had a chance to absorb what was said to me and how my life was going to change not to mention the amount of money it was going to cost me as I do not have dental insurance. I was ushered to speak to office manager , who quoted the procedure at almost nine thousand dollars. Through my shock and tears, I was pushed into signing up for care credit and was told I needed to bring $3000 Out of pocket on the day of my procedure. The only thing that saved me is that I did not sign the consent for the procedure and said I wanted to take it home. I also did not give them that money upfront and froze my care credit account Before before any charges were made , which they wanted to do before the procedure was even done. I started doing research into Aspen and found hundreds of terrible reviews on various social media sites, including Facebook, who has several groups, solely dedicated to the horrors of Aspen and people's testimonials about how aspen upsells, does switch and bait, recommends and performs drastic unnecessary procedures, provides poor quality work, and gives hidden charges. I went to a very reputable dentist for a second opinion and was told that I do not need ANY teeth extracted and NO major dental work, aside from having to do more cleanings per year. These people cause me such turmoil and unnecessary stress and almost ruined my life.The way they ruined the lives of hundreds of people. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I wish I would have listened to my co worker. His girlfriend use to work there, and he told me before my appointment be carefully. Their dentist is lazy. I went in for my appointment the dental assistant was nice and friendly. I gag when getting my teeth x-rayed, but the the dentist assistant was great, knows her job and didn't gag. But the Dentist on the other hand... wow! I went in because I was having a problem with a lower back molar on my left side. Yes the top left molar needs work also. I was thinking a root canal. The rest of my teeth felt fine, I know I have some cavities that need to be address but thats it. He came to me and said he needs to take my molars out and that they would make me partial dentures for upper and bottom. Now you can imagine my shock! Why is he wanting to take teeth on my right side that isn't even bothering me?! I left in tears and wanted to find a second opinion. He told me they will say the same thing. Guess what he was wrong! Saw an endodontist who would do the root cannal. I had Aspen Dental send over my medical records to my second opinion Dentist. I went in today for my appointment and left feeling excited but angry at the same time! My second opinion Dentist said this, yes bottom molar should go. The top left molar can be saved with a root cannal, on the right top molar my previous root cannal (done in California) is failing but can be fixed and the other bottom right molars yeah some cavities, but he said there is no need to take all these teeth and they can be fixed! I was relieved and so excited. He said my teeth actually weren't that bad when he heard the case and why I was getting a second opinion! But after I left was furious with Aspen, my coworker was right this dentist is lazy!!! Why the heck would a dentist tell me that he wants to rip my molars out and give me partial and yet my second opinion says we can save and fix my teeth?! To me its either he doesn't want me to spend my money at another dentist or is he getting more money for taking un-need teeth out and gets more money doing partial or full dentures? Will never go there again! And I pray that if you do go and you don't like their diagnosis PLEASE PLEASE GO GET A SECOND OPINION Thankful I did, because he mad me feel that i needed to do it then and now and already made imprints of my teeth to prepare for the partial dentures. This was my first time to a dentist in probably two years. I was a little worried going in, but Dr. Hilo and her team were welcoming, and thorough in the treatment. The dentist showed me the X-rays and explained what problems she saw, and why she was choosing the treatment plan. Scheduling was quick and easy. I decided over the weekend to go to the dentist, and was able to schedule an appointment for Monday online. My follow-up appointment was scheduled for a week later, but the office manager called me after the initial visit to offer a spot that opened the following morning. The ease of scheduling and the friendly staff has made me choose to continue care with this office. read more

Called and scheduled for a cleaning and exam, hoping to talk about cosmetic bonding revisions. Was told that's what I scheduled, showed up, was asked what brought me here, said cleaning, exam, possible revisions to bonding. They knew I was there for a cleaning, said it twice, went through unnecessary x rays and a 10 minute "exam" to then be told a hygienist wasn't there for a cleaning. So now, I have to pay out of pocket for an another exam, because no doctor will do a cleaning without their own exam. Absolutely ridiculous and a waste of my money. Money hungry team who knew that I was there for a cleaning and no one was there to do it. Would not suggest anyone going, it was completely empty in there for a reason. Lesson learned, never again. Team was no help. They main contact for support is no help. Worse dental experience I've ever had. I will be making sure no one I know EVER patronizes a location. read more

Went to this dentist today and left furious! I called their call center last night and explained my bottom left molar was having searing pain; and probably needed a root canal. So they gave me an 1015am appointment today. The get there at 10am as I'm supposed to arrive 15 minutes early for paper work and still don't get seen till 1045...that was annoying but not was pissed me off. I go through the 45 X-rays; while still having searing pain...then finally the dentist reviewed my X-rays, and tells me I NEED A ROOT CANAL!!! Who would have thought?!? So I ask how long will it take? She tells me that their office doesn't even offer the work!!! SO WHY DID I COME HERE AND WASTE 2 HOURS?!?? Fine I can't get the work done here, can you write me a script continuation for pain killers since I won't be able to see anyone until Monday; and get a note for work? Dentist goes and get office manager I don't remember her name maybe Jade; who is some atrociously rude lady who talks down to anyone with a different view point. She proceeded to make me feel dumb by talking to me like a child. With some super rude attitude. I will never come back and there manager should get her ass canned what a bitch. When trying to find a new dentist relationship for my wife, I reached out to Aspen Dental. She had a temporary crown that fell off and it was painful. After making an appointment online, I received a call from the office indicating a complete consultation, cleaning and entire mouth x-ray would be necessary. Even though I indicated this one issue needed to be addressed first, and then she could return for additional follow up, they insisted they were NOT a "one and done type business". Needless to say I found another dentist that understands patient needs and was willing to address her painful crown first and wait for x-rays and ancillary issues at a different appointment. read more

I wish i could give a better review, obviously i cannot. I came here for some periodontal work, and i loved my hygienist. I also LOVE the receptionist and would hire/recommend her to ANYONE. Great Customer Service skills for both of those ladies! Unfortunately the rest of the staff including the oral surgeon were not thorough and had me feeling like they almost cost me my life. A little back story - i have a brain tumor. This is not something that i forget i have, but was accused of "not mentioning this". I spoke with the dentist and hygienist on my first day with this information, as well as complained about build up in my mouth from vomiting all the time (it comes with the teritory of being sick). No one said anything.. UNTIL they were about to take my wisdom teeth out. Then it was an issue - the surgeon seemed completely unsure if this was a procedure he should do. Well, he did it anyway. Turns out that my oxygen level fell so low, he thought i would have to go to the emergency room. Turns out he gave me some reversal drug to bring me out of sedation and sent me home with my mother WITHOUT TELLING HER ANY OF THAT. Nice right? The only took out 2 teeth because of this, that was understandable. No one called to check up on me. In fact, it took TWO WEEKS - for the surgeon to call me (after me calling a couple times) to tell me what actually happened. I without doubt think that if they needed medical clearance because of my brain tumor that should have been discussed prior to them touching my mouth. This is not a place i recommend and it will not ever be bringing my business to ANY Aspen Dental because of this experience. I'm pretty sure this is malpractice - go at your own risk. read more

Very disappointed! Appointment was in February and has of today September 24 my husband has no teeth no teeth !!!! the dentist damaged his toride bone. The pain and bone fragments has prevented him from putting his dentures in his mouth ..He's going to Dr Sullivan now and after seeing the oral surgeon Dr.Junck I think we're finally on the road to recovery read more

I went in with a broken tooth, They claimed I had Periodontitis and Gingivitis and extracted 8 healthy teeth and charged me for a partial which was junk, never fit right and after the 11th attempt to fix it they offered a partial refund. The whole office staff is rude and Dr.Chandi must have bought her DDS license on craig's list. Stay away from this dental office. I have filed a Complaint with the Illinois Attorney Generals Office and Lisa Madigan regarding charges for procedures that were never performed. read more

Meh. There are so many dentists around, I'd go for a more established local office rather than a chain. You get what you pay for. Went for a cleaning, left with no cleaning and check up. Escorted to a chair quickly, Xrays taken reasonably quickly, and then I sat. And sat. And sat. And sat. I'm talking like did they forget I'm even in here? The hygienist finally comes back from lunch to apologize for the wait, and I express my displeasure.I was ready to leave. She runs to get someone, and someone comes in, not real fluent in English and starts measuring my pockets in a haphazard manner, shows me Xrays, and starts babbling to me about sacrificing some good teeth to hold a potential bridge. You make me wait, you don't explain my situation well, u haphazardly measure pockets, and talk about sacrificing teeth and I'm suppose to trust you to do this work? I wanted out fast, but insult to injury, had to sit and listen to a dental plan for $3,000 dollars. I think they were measuring the wallet in my pocket ! Never again! And no, teeth were not cleaned. My daughter has anxiety about going to the dentist. She'd previously had an awful experience with another local office. Aspen dental listened to my concerns and were wonderful with her. Sade greeted us and was professional and welcoming immediately setting us at ease. The hygienist, Gaby, was knowledgeable and explained everything she was going to do before she did it. She allowed my daughter to see the tools and ask questions before doing any procedures. My daughter has requested Gaby for her next cleaning and has no fears about returning. read more

Unfortunately, I actually liked the nurse that always helped me and the doc was very nice. They were both professional and funny. I say unfortunately because this place is a scam they make us make a ton of appointments and pre pay for things they haven't done yet. And insurance hasn't accepted yet. I went there several times to manage my bad teeth and even went somewhere else(they sent me) for a root canal because they could not do it-1500$ root canal-not including the crown! Yeah! If you are going to go here make sure you know your insurance and how much money you want to spend. And don't let them bully you into making future appointments if you are unsure. Bullied is how I felt. And thats not including that I'm only 35 and they were all younger then me. Oh and I have a future appointment right now, and their website says I can cancel or reschedule anytime on there--nope I can't so I have to call. So more bullying! I wish I could give this place 0 stars. Dr.Chandi has the absolute worst bedside manner. She's demeaning, no sympathy and has a great way of making you feel awful about yourself. I went in with three cavities. I worked in a dental office years ago and so I knew my treatment plan would most likely be root canal and crowns. Dr.Chandi wanted to pull 5 teeth on the bottom and give me partial dentures, and the top she wanted to pull them all. I looked at her like she had three heads. The office manager was great, she gave me my X-rays and I was able to make the drive back to my previous dentist. He apologized for what she said and told me not to worry, he doesn't ever foresee dentures in my future. He said it's unfortunate but aspen dental is known for trying to push extractions and dentures on people. I couldn't believe it!! PLEASE DON'T GO HERE, this place is ridiculous and unless you want to walk out terrified and feeling horrible about yourself DO NOT go here! I wish I would've read the reviews before I went. read more
