I'm also giving it a 3 because this is the first bad experience in a long time here. Friday, my crown fell off. I left a message on their machine but the call was never returned, so we waited the weekend and called back on Tuesday. Tuesday we were told that they could get me in as an emergency that day. When I asked for the Valium like normal and nitrous I was told that no one was there to write the Valium and the doctor was not cleared for nitrous. They called the other Fuquay clinic and was able to get me in with Dr. Hines Wednesday at 12. We asked or Nitrous and Valium. They said Dr. Hines was off and there wasn't anyone to write the Valium but they assured me nitrous would be available, and they would send a note to Dr. Hines to have it called in. They called back a little later and said there was a cancellation at 9 and asked if I could make that apt. I said yes, and again asked if there was nitrous for that visit and was told yes. Wednesday (today) I get to the dentist and I asked the lady who checked us in to please let Dr. Hines know that I was not pre-medicated and again checked on the nitrous. I was then told that it was ok that I wasn't pre-medicated because she was only looking at me, not putting the crown back on, which we were NOT made aware of when we scheduled the apt. Also, I felt like I was being dismissed because why would I need sedation to walk into a dentist office? I've had Valium for 20 years to just walk into a dentist office. I am not like most people, I'm not "scared" of the dentist, I'm TERRIFIED. So much so that I can't really know when my apt is, my husband gives me the Valium and that's when I find out I have an apt, that TERRIFIED. I get in the room and they do X-Rays, again, I need pre-medication for all of this, but it was ignored. Dr. Hines comes in and examines me and then says that Nitrous wasn't available for the visit. I'm not pre-medicated as I asked multiple times for and I don't have nitrous available as I was assured at least 5 times. Because it's Dr. Hines and I trust her, and ONLY her, I let her do the apt, non-medicated. She walked me through everything that she did, she comforted me. But when she had to do the bite and the drill machine came on, I started shaking uncontrollably. My husband was having to calm me down and help me slow my breathing because I was close to having a panic attack. Dr. Hines, being amazing, gave me the time that I needed to calm down, cemented the tooth and then walked out of the room. The hygienist who worked with her, was also amazing. She was cleaning up the tooth and walked me through every single step. They showed me more empathy and compassion than anyone else in the office today did. The ONLY reason I will continue here is Weenie, who does the teeth cleanings, and Dr. Hines. I have been coming to this office for over 20 years. I have only had 1 or 2 bad experiences in those 20 years. But if it weren't for Dr. Hines today, I would have walked out and found another dentist who does full sedation so I don't have to be anxious and worrying walking in to the office going forward whether or not I have the medication that was requested and the procedure is what I scheduled. After completing 4 visits with the reassurance we were in-network, this ultimately was not the case and were completely misled to complete services without the knowledge of what we had been told was false. Before services, my husband and I went in for a consultation and were given a breakdown of the cost we would pay out of pocket vs what insurance would cover. There is no mention in the quote reflecting out-of-network coverage, and justifiably no reason to expect that insurance would not fully cover their portion quoted - as it matched what I expected from my "in-network coverage" - and no further reason to question any sort of setting up my own appointment after services were completed. At the first visit, we were reassured that insurance would be billed and were led to believe that this comprehensive breakdown was correct. Upon our 2nd visit, after my husband had already fully completed the appointment, I was told there was an outstanding balance - which would not be consistent with what my insurance covers in-network. I questioned the balance and was told false, misleading reasons to make me assume that it was routine to occur when paying with insurance. I was directly lied to, the true reason being that the provider was out-of-network. The provider did not offer that moral, reasonable, honest explanation that would have immediately caused me to stop future services. Why did the provider not alert me when we checked in that we had an outstanding balance from the 1st visit? Was that a tactic to allow us to complete his future appointments and in return make them more money? After paying, I walked back into the office to get another explanation why there was a balance at all. Brittney gave me a confusing open-ended answer, still leaving out the crucial component that we were out-of-network. I still felt unsure, so I called the next morning asking for clarification a third time. Brittney was rude, short, and acted like I was a bother trying to understand what was happening. Putting our faith in their answers and trusting their words, we continued to see this provider a total of 4 times which left us with an outstanding balance after insurance. This is completely outrageous and unbelievable why a business would be allowed to hold information from their customers in order to book services. After being notified of the claims, I called to confront the provider. Brittney began to speak defensively, almost as if reading off a script. Stating; "WE WERE AWARE you are out-of-network the entire time...". I was completely shocked. I was blamed, cut off from any type of resolution, just listening to a well rehearsed excuse. I do understand that the customer has a duty to confirm in-network providers - but how could I be penalized for doing so and be lied to? What reason do I have to not believe their answer? "No, you are out-of-network" was never said when I asked her to help me understand, and the audacity for them to claim so is insulting, belittling and paints the picture that there was no effort on my part to understand. Which, clearly, is not the case. Discussing with my insurance company, they made it clear to me how often these lies are told and how unfortunate it is that the provider is not "required" to tell you if you are in/out of network. That then raises the question of Huff and Huff - given you have no "requirement" to inform your clients, do you also find truth and morality to be optional? I see now why getting a clear explanation was so difficult, coming up with distractions and lies on the spot takes a lot of work. I was completely scammed, given misleading information, unclear and immoral answers. This is a serious and dangerous practice by the provider, I would be very inclined to believe that a majority of their patients are "out-of-network" and others have fallen into the same trap. Do yourself a favor and think twice before entering into business with Huff and Huff. What a shame!!!!

Went inside to find an offer of $100 for a cleaning and X-rays. Sold. Two weeks later, I was in to get my teeth worked on. It must be a popular place because my appointment date was far off. Though the lousy reviews wouldn't reflect their being "popular" at all. Infamous, maybe. Which is weird because my experience was a fine one. All the ladies there were sweet-natured and accommodating. Sarah worked on my teeth using technology I'd never seen before in previous years of dental visits elsewhere. I saw my entire tooth layout in 3D on a view screen. It was super cool. After inspecting my teeth, I fully expected someone to try to upsell me on some deeper cleaning treatment or related work. But I can be obsessive about my maintenance regiments, and obviously they couldn't find a reason to push me for extra money. I've been to places that tried everything they could to dig deeper into my pockets. This place didn't. I was happy with the results, I loved their tech and watched more "Gilmore Girls" than I'd have liked, but no need to trash them for that. It was clean as a whistle, and everybody was kind.
