Nearly everyone is diagnosed with periodontal disease, requiring a 1400.00 procedure b4 you can even get a tooth crowned Told you might die from a bacterial infection . You get free xrays, then gums examined, then dentist does a quick peep, then you are presenting a 12,000. bill, signed up for Care credit. Highly pressured to sign on this, even if you repeatedly say you need to think about it or cannot afford it. Left in pain for days without a callback from the emergency call line to get additional pain meds after extractions. I kept being told, someone would get back to me. My ENT can verify, bc I needed help so badly. The next week, the dentists asked if anyone got back to me! So, he knew about the calls for help. My denture experience was horrible. Non fitting for 8 months and refused my final set. Front office tried to say I hadn't already paid on care credit in full!! I had the walkout statement and my cc is fo. They don't know how to read their own statements. Turnover is constant. Goal oriented business where Care is not considered. I ask over and over to have 2 teeth extracted but the dentist acted like I wasn't talking. Then sent me to the front desk they gave me and itemized list of all the dental work I needed and wanted to charge me around 700.00 to extract 2 teeth but if I wanted to make an appointment I would have to pay half in advance to make and appointment. My husband needed to be fitted for a partial. Since it had been more than six months since his last visit, the receptionist said he'd need X-rays and a cleaning. $3,527! They even snuck in a $135 Oral B electric toothbrush. He returned this the following day after reviewing the invoice. They are the only dentist that accept his insurance. He spoke to his insurance rep and he was told Aspen Dental is the worst and they are notorious for their shady practices. How they are still open amazes me. read more

If zero stars was possible that's what I'd give. Idk if they work off commission or what but it definitely seems that way. I had a tooth pulled and ended up with a major infection. I called and came in to try and get it dealt with 4 different times but I was brushed off every single time. I ended up in the ER with extremely high blood pressure and had to be put on very high dose antibiotics. It was obvious I had an infection so I'm not sure why they would not help me. And idk if you have ever had dental work done at one place and try to go to another to get that procedure fixed but it's almost impossible to have done! I would NEVER go back here again. I had a die grinder bit break off and hit me right in the mouth in my welding shop, breaking two teeth. It completely broke one tooth off and the other was dangling by a thread. Urgent Care sent me to Aspen Dental. Big mistake going there! They charged my insurance over $700.00 (only $400.00-ish that insurance paid, the other $300.00 or so coming out of my pocket) for simply plucking the tooth that was still dangling out of my mouth, something that I could have easily done myself, and wish that I had done now. The tooth was literally just about to fall out from its own weight... Over $700.00 for no more than five seconds work? That comes to $8400.00 per minute or $504,000 per hour! Seriously? Aspen is a Scam! My Insurance sent me to them, stating they were under my plan. The 1st Visit, was supposed to be no charge just an evaluation. They sent me a $250 Bill, and filed my Insurance, after they claimed they did not take it they billed $500 to them and were paid by my Insurance! I called my Insurance and sent the Paperwork, along with the Office Notes, With a letter describing the visit! Also, pictures of the Signs(No Charge 1st Evaluation)-from the outside window and inside the office. Aspen is supposed to be a part of SC Smiles Grant, I had 2 teeth with damage,I broke them clenching my teeth during a PTSD Nightmare, both were back molars. Top and bottom, last one one top and last one bottom-I had broken both during the same nightmare. They just needed to be repaired. ( My Regular Dentist had just retired a month earlier). My other teeth were in perfect condition. When I left, they gave me a quote-$7000! After reviewing the charges;were Charges for a $500 Toothbrush?(they did not ask), $1000 Fluoride Treatments (We have Fluoride in our water), $2500 Gingivitis Treatment (I do not have Gingivitis!) There were many other erroneous charges, to repair the 2 teeth the Charge was $2300! Leaving the rest of the charges for items; floss, toothpaste, mouthwash, q-tips, tissues and other everyday items we all use and keep for continued use. I called my Retired Dentist, he recommended another Dentist-to repair the Teeth the cost by the other Dentist was $125. My Regular Dentist knew that my teeth were in great shape, and was appalled at the Charges and Reasons Aspen gave for the charges. He wrote a Letter to my Insurance Company and SCSmiles as well. I would not recommend Aspen to anyone, they are a disgrace to real Dentists! Their actions could cause many Patients to give up on Dental Care, also to give up on Having minor repairs done! Thus leaving Patients in need of care, as well as pain. Please find a local Dentist for your Cleanings and Dental Care, the large Dental Box Shops need to be investigated by Insurance Companies and Dental Grants for States (Unless they are part of Government kickbacks)! Do not go to them. I had my very first visit with them and was expecting a typical dental visit(ex rays and cleaning, which I have had done for years at my previous dentist). The ex rays they did are from the pre-historic ages with the huge painful cards that they shove in your mouth( who uses those anymore?) Then I see the dentist and he was rude. Terrible billing pratices. I paid my portion upfront including the deductible for my procedure, which I had to do before I could have it done and my insurance paid half. Months later I received a bill for a balance due, but it didn't state exactly what it was for. I called several times and still couldn't get an explanation for the fee. I refused to pay for services I already paid for. They sent it to a collection agency later on. I don't know how this company come up with their charges, but I do know it's nothing what your receipt states or the quotes they give you. They will NEVER get my business again. This place is a total scam. DO NOT GO! This was the only dental place in the area that was in-network with my provider and was not booked for the next few weeks. I only needed a routine clean-up, nothing major. They made me get all the other services but the cleanup. First, they made me take like 50 x-rays to "understand" my tooth anatomy. Then they made me get 3 fillings, and then 2 more fillings, and said they would not proceed with the cleaning unless I got the fillings. They at the time told me the fillings were covered by my provider. Then they told me that I needed an antibacterial cleaning with an estimated cost of ~$3500, which was not covered by my insurance. They absolutely refused to give me the regular cleaning and said it was against their "moral" to give me inadequate treatment. WTF?!?! 2 weeks later they billed me ~$400 for the fillings that I did not ask for, and at the time of treatment was promised would be taken care of by insurance. I went to another dental place that was not in-network but was taking new patients because at this point it would be cheaper to pay out-of-pocket for the regular cleaning than to get the treatment from in-network provider. The dentist there told me that the fillings I received at Aspen were unnecessary. What a frickin joke. read more

So I called my insurance company to verify this and was told that was completely false. My son went in yesterday morning in severe pain...sweating, could not eat, and could barely talk. My son signed for them to discuss what was going on with me and to show me the xrays before any work was done (he was in to much pain to make good decisions). I had to wait in the car. I waited.....no call. I went in and they told me it was just a filling and they were fixing it. He came out in more pain. After an hour I called them back; they said well if it is still hurting we may need to see Dr. Holley an Endodontics in town. I asked for the number and they gave it to me.....just to let me know she is out of town for a week. I drove my son back home to Augusta. I got him in this morning to an Endodontics. He needed a root canal. Can you even imagine the pain of them drilling on him when he needed a root canal! Wow! I have a tough kid. There are a lot of dentist that are good people who care about more than a few bucks in their pocket, and care about people. I can not believe they have a licenses to practice. Having been a patient at another local dentist for years, I was very apprehensive about trying a new dentist office. For years, I had dental insurance through my wife's job, but she lost her job several years ago and it had been 3-4 years since my last dental check up. I recently started a new job, which offers dental insurance and, after loosing a crown and a couple fractured teeth over a year ago, set an appointment with Aspen Dental. From the time I called to set up the appointment, I was very impressed with everyone's professionalism and making me feel at ease with the entire process. After my initial oral assessment, I was introduced to the office manager who gave me up-front costs, broken down to the littlest detail. There was no pressure to do all repairs at once, they actually offered to break each item needed into separate visits to make it less painful on the wallet. I took my granddaughter there, what a joke. This place is not for children at all. They held her up to try and get an x-ray and it didn't come out too well, but I still had to pay for it. They had nothing for her to stand on. I needed to baby teeth pulled, her permanent teeth were already in behind them and was told to wiggle, wiggle.
