On the plus side (sort of), they ran a full set of X-rays for me as a first time customer, and did an oral exam, both for free. Staff seemed friendly and knowledgeable. My initial gripe was that they pushed me into buying a WAY overpriced ($135) Oral-B electric toothbrush. The tech told me the price was the same as on Amazon, which I then agreed to buy there (and subsequently verified was comparably priced on Amazon). I realized after getting home, it had the worthless features of A-I and "Bluetooth" (literally - don't ask me what a hand held toothbrush needs Artificial Intelligence or Bluetooth for). The pricey features weren't just unnecessary. They were annoying. The damned thing stutter stops and flashes a red light if it doesn't like how you are brushing, which is constantly. I realized too late there are similar Oral-B electric toothbrushes without the bells and whistles for about $40 on Amazon. Not sure about Oral-B being the best option anyway. So then I looked up the "standard" pricing for my plaque removal/cleaning. "Authoritydental" dot org says: "Scaling and root planing costs $200-$300 on average". My (uninsured) cost at this place for scraping or "scaling" just HALF of my teeth was $442.80. I am supposed to return for the other teeth ... and presumably another $440 bill. read more

Unless you want to suffer, steer clear of this establishment which is a revolving door of amateurs who must have graduated from the Acme Dental School found on the back of some matchbook and graduated with D averages. Teeth cleaning is excellent, fillings get a C minus grade but any specialty work beyond that, you are putting your life and finances at high risk. You will end up with infections and ripped up gums. They will tell you at the door that they guarantee their work but they do not mean that. They take your money and when their amateurish botch jobs do harm to you, they will tell you that you have to pay a ton more money before they go back in and fix their butcher jobs. If you have to come here, be prepared to sit and wait. I scheduled an appointment for 10:30. The day prior, I get a text message saying the appointment is 11:15 (why did they change it?) and to arrive 30 minutes early (why?). I arrived 45 minutes early, filled out paperwork which took 5 minutes, then sat waiting for almost an hour. Finally got my exam done, then sat in the lobby again for another half hour before I finally got fed up and just left. Who knows how much longer I would have had to wait to speak to someone about the work I needed to get done. I'd rather just go somewhere else and start over. read more

If you use Aspen Dental for teeth cleaning only. You would be ok. As for any periodontal work, they are such a rip off it is hard to imagine how they sleep at night. I was quoted for 4 implants $26,500. Ridiculously expensive. As it turns out I needed a bridge and two implants, which cost me......are you ready - just over $8,000. This includes two vacations to Cancun with my wife. I left messages with three other periodontists in Lake Katrine/Kingston and not one call back. Which means they are making so much money they don't need to call back anyone. I did something called medical tourism. I found an extraordinary periodontist in Cancun Mexico, Irma Galaveston. Educated at Michigan State. Ocean Dental, there prices are straight forward, they pick you up at the airport and for every appointment. I had two molars removed and no pain, they are more professional than any dentist I have ever used in he US. All new and modern office, absolutely top notch. $6,000 for the dental work and $1,000 per trip including airfare & hotel. We flew from Newark and stayed at the Westin resort and spa (gorgeous beach). We as American's are getting ripped off, my dental work was done perfectly. I am completely satisfied. Please proceed with caution! I have to say, the front desk associates are extremely polite, one only was rude. They treat you pretty good, to rope you in, get your money and A LOT of it, thousands, then they cancel appts, forget you exist, and even lie to insurance companies. Over billing and bulking. Sad to see Jeanie go, she was the ONLY upfront and honest one. The others don't even know what their title is, every other month it's someone new, left, replaced, transferred. Try proving yourself when that scenario exists. Dr. B is very nice. Unfortunately she has no clue as to what the others are lying to you about. Absolutely dumbfounded with a situation. The appointment was actually for my husband. I had to call on his behalf because he was not receiving time sensitive support from the Aspen Hudson office. When I called, I was forced to speak with the most unprofessional, condescending, argumentative, intolerant, and immature Aspen representative in the Hudson office. Not only was Lindsay unorganized and impatient, she was rude and obnoxious. Had we not already invested in nearly $4,000 worth of necessary services I would go to another provider. While other Aspen Dental sites may not have the same type of unprofessional staff providing care, advice, and scheduling to their patients - I would be hard pressed to ever recommend anyone utilizing the dental services where such a poorly trained unprofessional insulting immature individual was allowed to remain on staff without being counseled on ethics and practices of appropriate customer care. read more

I tried Aspen Dental a few years ago when a promotion led me to trying them. Despite their clean front office and organized feel, it wasn't homey in the back, and later when I tried to transfer my records to another dentist nearby, they told me the files could be transferred to another for free. But a week later, I received a bill in the mail asking me for a large sum of money for this transaction that took place. I was forced by the company to pay a bill they told me was completely free. My first visit with Aspen will be my last. The office manager was charging me $ 200 for a cleaning even though I had dental insurance. I found out later that I was charged for the purchase of "take home products" for dental hygiene. I was never told this and I had not agreed to the purchase of anything but having my teeth cleaned. It felt like a total deception and the kind of thing I would expect from a sleazy car dealership, not seeing a dentist. It took several weeks for me to get the refund on my credit card, but eventually I did. I would not recommend the Aspen chain but rather use a local dentist who is honest. Three weeks ago I had to get an adjustment on my dentures that were made six months ago by another Aspen Office in the Capital Region. I also had a horrible experience at one particular Office. I have been at two other Aspen Dental Offices before here. My lower gums were inflamed and actually bleeding. I was in a lot of discomfort. When I went to the Kingston Aspen Dental, I have never felt so welcomed from any other office as I did here. These Doctors and ALL the staff are " PROFESSIONAL ". Once Dr. Bedin saw how and what the dentures were doing, she immediately said We are going to fix this correctly. Within ten minutes, she brought in, and introduced me to the Lab Tech. named Walter, and they both explained to me what was wrong, and what they were going to do fix the problem. There was no hesitation what so ever. They told me that you are not leaving here, until you are happy and comfortable. They made me a complete new full set of Dentures upper and lower. They did an OUTSTANDING job ! Every one, each and every time, was friendly, and made you feel welcome and happy to see you. Each and every time I went to the office, I was called in within 10 minutes. If you want Professional Dental care, I highly recommend you to go to this Office at 1159 Ulster Ave, Kingston, New York. I would recommend staying clear of this business. Had an appointment and no one told me I would be having someone in training. The girl doing my x rays had such a hard time and had to have someone keep coming in and showing her what to do. Finally after that ordeal she brought me into an examination room. Behind me they are bringing up my xrays while she tries to figure out what to do. The one teaching her was explaining what to do and both acting like I wasn't even there after a long while of listening to them, I kindly asked if I would actually see a dentist. Finally after complaining and almost leaving a dentist does appear. I was okay with what he was telling me. After all was said and done they brought me into pay my bill and to schedule my upcoming cleaning and filling. The bill was way more than the quoted price and of course I made my future appointment. Than come to find out they charged me to little for my filling and had to pay more because the dentist didn't put in the correct amount of work that needed to be done. Really leery about any upcoming appointments. They seem to always have new trainees and not alot of knowledgeable staff. This visit will be the last visit I make here. I came in for my first "free" appointment a couple weeks back for X-rays and exam. After the appointment, I was handed a bill for nearly $700 and informed that I didn't have dental coverage, which I most certainly do and had verified with them over the phone when I scheduled the appointment. During the time I wasted correcting this with the front desk, I saw two guests come in for scheduled appointments and be told they did not have appointments. These guests rescheduled but were highly confused. That should have been a warning sign. I ended up getting squeezed in later on that afternoon for the first part of my cleaning and scheduled the second part for 3 weeks later, aka today. I received a phone call and an email two days ago reminding me of the appointment. I came in today and was informed that I did not have an appointment and that they might not be able to squeeze me in. I live 45 minutes away and do not find this acceptable. They then informed me that they could "squeeze me in" in a little while. To which I pulled up my email proving I had an appointment. Avoid at all costs! I first visited the office because they accepted my dental discount plan provided by Aetna. The office was clean and looked brand-new when I was a patient. I stopped going and found a new dentist after I came to realize the company's unsavory business practices. 1. On multiple occasions I received bills in the mail from the company's main office, for dental work that I had paid for on the date of my appointment, or for just random dollar amounts. I paid in cash each visit, and the financial receptionist always gave me a receipt--so I knew that I had always settled my bill before leaving their office. Were it not for the professionalism of this single employee who knew me pretty well from all of my visits, I would have had a much more difficult time fighting the charges. Other employees I tried to deal with regarding the over-charging were never able to give me legitimate reasons for why I was being billed for additional charges, and one employee even went as far as to say that the bill I had paid at the time of service was just an estimate--(which might be true for someone who uses insurance, but I was using a discount plan which worked off of a standard fee agreed upon by the dental company and Aetna. This I verified with Aetna, who told me that they themselves would contact Aspen if I needed them to). 2. The hygienist tried her hardest to get me to have a procedure that I did not need, periodontal surgery. From other reviews of this company that I have read on Yelp, it appears to me that this is one way the company tries to make their money. You know the little probe that the hygienist pokes between all of the teeth, and calls out a number for each one? Well, she jammed the probe as far into the gums as possible--so far that it made my eyes water--to get higher numbers than would otherwise be accurate. Afterwards, she said that I had periodontal disease. I believed it was bogus because prior to visiting this office, I had a cleaning elsewhere and my gums were great. Plus afterwards, I got a third opinion which resulted in a good bill of health for my gums. This place looks good on the outside, but it is just the facade. Poor service from all staff! An empty office and I waited an hour to be "evaluated" only to leave without my broken tooth having nothing done. To make the situation any worse, the appointment the staff wanted to give me to fill the tooth was in 5 months. Unacceptable response was that the were booked up and that was the 1st available. The good thing. They were nice until I got to the Office Manager. When you arrive with insurance, ANY DOCTOR is supposed to contact your insurance to see what is covered and what is not. I had some check up stuff done - my first visit - they didn't contact my insurance company and assumed that procedure "x" was covered. It wasn't and ASPEN said that was my liability. The insurance company - Ameritas - said they log who called them and they were never called. Basically, the office manager lied about contacting the insurance company, and or had zero proof and stuck me with the bill. Zero attempt to work it out. Luckily it wasn't for a lot but what if they did a crown you thought was covered and they didn't check. AND they have you sign this unintelligible sheet at the end saying you approved the charges. This is the worst sort of insurance abuse by a "provider." It's too bad because the treatment, wait time were fine. They couldn't have been nicer. A lot of hard work thrown away by an inexperienced and dishonest office manager. I don't care how she follows this up. The truth is not something they're prepared to deal with. read more

I have to say my first couple of visits were positive. However I just had a tooth pulled by dr.Bedine and it was terrible. First of all she didn't wait long enough for the novicane to numb my gums enough. I asked her to give me a minute to recover from the pain and she waited about 4 seconds and continued. Even though she was hurting me she just kept on going. I will never see her again and even her assistant said she was a very quick person.
