I really wish I had read these reviews before I went. I went in for a simple dental cleaning. I hadn't had a chance to get a cleaning in 2 years but I normally go every 6 months. When I booked I made it clear that I wanted a cleaning since I was about to lose my dental insurance due to my husband's death last week. After an exam and at least a dozen X-rays later I was given a quote of over $3,000 worth of work they wanted to do. After expressing that I just wanted a cleaning I was told I could come back 2 hours later for a cleaning. In my 52 years I have never been examined by the dentist first then told to come back later for a cleaning. After checking out I was charged $200 for a "deep cleaning." I will not be back to Aspen dental. I feel like I was taken advantage of. I have never had to pay that much for a dental cleaning with insurance before. Absolutely the worst dentist I've ever seen. The office staff assured me that I would get a cleaning. That was all I requested because I had already had x-rays and an exam before I recently moved here to Montgomery. I was denied a cleaning and now I owe them $123 because my insurance won't cover the x-rays and cleaning. No wonder the American people don't trust doctors and dentists anymore because their priorities are their bottom line and not their patients. read more

Their order of operations is so frustrating. I have never been a new dental patient before where they do X-rays, then a hygienist will only check your gums for 10 seconds but you have to schedule a cleaning separately. I went in for a new night guard because I grind my teeth. They didn't even do the impression, I've had to make another separate appointment, and can't be seen for 5 more days. That's 5 additional nights of teeth grinding without protection, before I even get the impression made, and unsure how long it will take to get it made. This is the most frustrating dental experience. Make the new patient process more streamlined! New patients should get a cleaning, x-rays, and whatever complaints addressed SIMULTANEOUSLY, not in separate appointments. This is ridiculous. read more

Would not go here. I went in as a new patient for routine cleaning. They did x-rays then the dentist checked for cavities. He said everything was good and the hygienist would clean my teeth. After she stabbed my gums repeatedly for 5 minutes she wanted to schedule me 2 days later for the cleaning instead of doing it then. Then they charged me over $700 for the visit and said my Insurance wouldn't cover it all and I would need to pay $360. I paid, then spoke to my insurance (BCBS) and they said absolutely not, I shouldnt have had to pay anything. I called Aspen Dental back and asked for a refund for the services provided and a cost breakdown for the charges. They charged me $210 for the X-rays and cavity check, $70 for the cleaning that they hadn't even done yet and then added in $420 for a gum treatment that I did not receive nor was I even asked about. it's been 9 days I have received no refund. When I call they just say the ticket has been submitted. ALSO, while I was getting x rays the workers were talking about how one of the dentists was mis diagnosing peoples issues and treatments. It was a huge mistake for me to have gone to Aspen Dental in Montgomery, AL. They performed a Tori reduction procedure which resulted in complications including, pain, severe gum inflammation, infection, and a large open sore. I went to Aspen's office for an evaluation and a resolution only to be told that I would need an appointment with the soonest available not until five days later. I asked that I be put on the waiting list but was still not able to be seen despite waiting over three hours in their office. I complained to which they responded that if I didn't like their policies I should go elsewhere. So, I left in complete disgust. Aspen needs to give preference to patients who have already received their services rather than tell them to wait their turn regardless of prevailing impactful circumstances. More importantly, they need to know that the needs of patients should always come first. read more

I had talked to them a week ago and told them I was definitely coming and I was trying to fill out my new patient paper work on line as suggested in the welcoming email I received well the employee told me that no I would have to do it on the iPad in the office because and I am quoting her now "it has to be digital and on the iPad". Called 3 days in a row with no answer, left messages and got no reply. Went in with a horrible toothache that had lasted 5 days, no sleep and obviously hurting and the front receptionist was unhelpful, rude, condescending and not helpful. They have nothing under a 3 star reviews; and to understand what type of company they are, one really needs to read the 1-2 star reviews to see just how HORRIBLE Aspen Dental is. Oh my god. Where to start. tldr: DO NOT GO THERE, UNLESS OF COURSE YOU WANT COVID. Scroll to the bottom if you want to understand why. When you call the number to schedule an appointment, you are routed to a call center. I setup an appointment on 2/1/22, was able to get in on 2/2. That should have raised a red flag right there. Rightfully so, as I was there over an hour after my appointment time before seeing the dentist. I give the call center rep my insurance information that she assured me would be passed on to the office located in Eastchase. This apparently was lip service by the rep, because they had no information at the office for me besides my name and phone number. When I checked in, she took my ID and insurance card. Scanned my ID, but apparently not my insurance card. I thought she handed both back to me, but yet when I went to check out with the "office manager" (more on that later), my insurance information was still not in the system. When I went into my wallet to find my insurance card to give to her she gets it from the receptionist. So not only did they not put my insurance information in during the 1.5+ hours I had been there, but I had to sit there while she entered the information into their system and then had wait again for her to *call* my insurance to get my coverage information. By the time all was said and done, I was in the office for over 2 hours. Keep in mind that my "appointment" was less than 2 hours after they opened. Why the long wait, you ask? They take walk-ins. Apparently that's all they do. The whole "appointment" thing is a scam, in my opinion. 3 people went back before me....that arrived after me, etc. All but one of the office staff was very crass. From what I witnessed, this was the case unless of course you're a repeat client. The whole "comprehensive exam" took less than 2 minutes of her feeling around my teeth/gums. Now comes the high pressure sales tactics. I waited another 30 minutes or so more in the "lounge" to talk to the "office manager" (glorified title for a sales person, imo). I about died when I saw the figures. First run = around $4,000 out of pocket total (PLUS my $1k insurance coverage) for several extractions and a full set of dentures. When I explained I could not afford that, here comes the pitch of financing, etc etc etc. I was still being pressured to look into alternative financing even though I told her a few times that I am in no position financially or otherwise to basically take on more debt. She then went through and made a couple of changes (I have no idea what she changed) and came back with a total of $3k out of pocket. Again, combined with my $1k dental coverage. Bottom line: 1) They will say/do anything just to get you in the door then wrap it up with strong-armed sales tactics. 2) If you can't afford the work to be done, they don't care if you go deep in debt to get it done. They just want the $$$. 3) The way they come off is very bad and unprofessional in most aspects. It's pretty much this: I believe they size you up when you walk in the door. If it looks like you can't afford to pay, they do the bare minimum it requires to get you back out the door. I believe that if they assume that you won't have any work done at their office, they really don't care what you think, because 9 times out of 10 their assumptions are correct and that particular person won't come back at all. Even if I could afford their absurd prices, I would have gone elsewhere. It took all I had to keep from walking out at almost every step of the process. And let me leave you with this: (caps for emphasis) A MAN CAME IN SHORTLY AFTER I ARRIVED. APPARENTLY HE IS A FREQUENT FLYER. THE RECEPTIONIST STARTED TALKING WITH HIM. AND HE STATES "I AM SICK AND I HAVE NOT HAD ANY OF MY SHOTS." The receptionist didn't bat an eye, didn't ask him to leave, but yet they still saw him. I wouldn't recommend this place. They're not very professional. In my experience, they told me I needed periodontal treatment. I accepted the treatment. They reported to my insurance that it wasn't required, so I had to pay the whole bill myself. Moreover, they hygienist told me she was going to separate the treatment into two phases. Apparently she covered all 4 quadrants in 30 minutes and one sitting. If it was that easy, why was a periodontal treatment necessary? read more

My first appointment for dentures was October 7th. I was ignored by the dentist, he never spoke to me and refered the one question to the tech. I was told I would have my dentures (which was paid in full the same day) by December. I had a very bad wax molding done, so bad so, that the tech snickered at the fit. The tech said they needed to do a second wax and when I came back to check that fitting, the front desk person said they didn't have it yet....no call/no voicemail! I have received two texts this week, l telling me to call, so when I did, I was told they didn't know why I was contacted....and that my dentures were not ready to check for fitting, because they were still in FLORIDA since that office does not have a technician who made dentures in their office. (Which is not what I was told on day one!). It is January 23rd, and I want to say I am not pleased with not only their service, professionalism, business transparency, and overall honesty. They want money, but have no sense of urgency and customer satisfaction is not even on their radar. read more

My experiences with Aspen dental has been good. Dr. Jackson and his staff is always friendly and professional during my appointments. Sure, sometimes I've had to wait a little longer than I would like when another patient's care have dictated a delay. But I have also had times when my procedures have causes a delay for others so I try to be patient when ever they are running behind. The only downside I have found with Aspen Dental is scheduling. By this being a corporation I can't schedule as easily as I could with a private practice dentist. Overall, I have been provided excellent care. read more

I had A wisdom tooth removed, and afterwards i had extreme pain and discomfort. My husband tried to call to set up an appointment to see the doctor Post Operation and no one would answer the phones until at least 30 hours after my procedure was done. And on top of that they made my appointment for the next day. After getting to the office the next morning on time( in tears and extreme pain) I waited over an hour and still hadn't been seen (watching people who came in WAY AFTER me were seen first. I asked the receptionist what was going on and why(as a post op patient) I hadn't been seen she said they put me on overflow. So my pain and discomfort wasn't as important as tooth cleanings!! The Staff were very nice and welcoming but they don't have a doctor there but once a month and everyone is running around like they don't know where they should be or what to do. I told the female "doctor" before the procedure that she didn't numb the correct area and I could feel my gums(twice she did this) but I was shrugged off like a child that doesn't know what their talking about. Also only numbed my CHEEK for a dry socket procedure, I screamed and cried because I could feel EVERYTHING!!!! then they quickly ushered me out so no one in the lobby could hear me. Worst doctor experience in my entire life(over 30 years) I advise anybody if you need work done on your teeth to run and not look back. I cant stress enough how horrible it was and I will be going to Prattville Aspen Dental from now on ( if i have the courage to see another dentist). Staff are extremely polite and welcoming!! We arrived, no one was at the front desk for at least 20 minutes of our arrival. They were not friendly. Just came from the back looking around and finally speaking to what I guess was a repeat client. This is our first time here and I literally wanted to walk back out the door. Aspen Dental is the worst. I was quoted $832 to have two of my wisdom teeth extracted with oral surgery on 12/04/2018 and the woman sent my X-ray over to the dentist that would be doing it. And I was told that if they weren't able to schedule me then they would call me to reschedule. So I went ahead and paid $832 for two of my wisdom teeth to get removed with oral surgery. And it was scheduled for the very next day but I was told that I had to go to the Prattville location. My mouth was hurting so bad that I didn't mind going to get that relief. I show up at 1:15 p.m. to my appointment that was supposed to be scheduled for 12/05/2018 at 1:45 p.m. and at first the woman couldn't find me stating that my appointment was canceled or taken off the schedule. The woman behind the receptionist spoke up because she's who the Montgomery office spoke to and said she would ask the dentist if he could do it. The dentist said that he would be able to remove my teeth. So I sit down to make sure the paper work was okay and I was informed that I would have to pay an extra $850 on the spot because they would rather that I be put to sleep. I already paid in full the price that I was given without insurance and drove to the Prattville location. And I was not prepared to pay an additional extra $850 on the spot for a service that I already paid for. I just told them to refund me the money and now I have to find somewhere else because these people are not organized in the least bit. They felt more than happy to take my money but when it was time for the service...it's oh no ma'am we need more money now. Ridiculous! I'm still waiting on my refund now. I was a work in patient from another dentist who did not show up on time to open his office, so I called explained I'm in terrible pain and really need antibiotics. They worked me last minute @8:45am, loretta (the hygienist) got me signed in, and in a chair within 5 minutes of arriving. 15 minutes later the dentist came in got me assessed and had me out the door within 45 minutes total. Never seek services at this facility. The new patient exam takes over two hours, and the whole time, you have to hear the noisy behind the scenes staff talking nonsense, laughing, and generally acting unprofessional. Even worse, when you call back to make an appointment for the treatment that they recommended, you can't get through to a human being. I called 7 times between 8 and 5, and every time, I got a recording telling me to call back during normal hours. I am now looking for a dentist whose receptionist will answer the phone. read more
