I had a very mixed experience at Aspen Dental in Mount Airy. First, I want to recognize the hygienist. They were the best hygienist I have ever had. They were kind, patient, thorough, and genuinely listened to my concerns. They made every visit much more comfortable, and I truly appreciated the care they provided. Unfortunately, my experience with the dentist was very different. After having fillings done, I continued to have sensitivity and a rough feeling on one of my back teeth for months. I repeatedly brought up my concerns and was told everything looked fine. I even paid to have one of the fillings repaired because I was still having problems. After seeing a different dentist, I found out the roughness was actually caused by a chip in the tooth next to the filling that occurred during the original procedure. I will now have to have both fillings redone to correct the problem. I wish my concerns had been taken seriously instead of being dismissed. I was also disappointed with the front desk experience. The receptionist was not welcoming or particularly kind, which added to an already frustrating situation. I am grateful for the hygienist because they were excellent, but because of the dental treatment and how my concerns were handled, I cannot recommend this office. read more

Was excited to be going to a new dentist for dental care. 2 months prior had a 3-D panoramic x-ray which I paid oop and Aspen would not accept it. Said they were required to do their own x-ray! That is not looking out for the patient, but lining their own pockets while exposing patient to unnecessary radiation! Easy to get first appointment. Then all down hill. They never and I mean never answer the phone nor call you back. They want 60% down before first appointment. You have to get your teeth cleaned before they will work on you. They give you 3 plan options and once you decide on that plan there is no turning back. Just know your options and understand you get what you pay for. After first visit I knew this place is not what they claim. I'm very happy I did not follow through. read more

I absolutely adore my hygienist, Jess!!! She deserves a 5 Star rating for her excellence in care and customer service! She is so friendly, personable and sweet. I feel so comfortable with her. Jess is extremely thorough and knowledgeable about my oral health care and I always leave there feeling like I'm part of a family. There is very minimal discomfort as Jess is gentle when doing my cleaning. I also always appreciate her positive attitude and the fact that she is willing to take the time to explain the procedure clearly. It's always a relaxing, and fun visit. We have alot of laughs. They are not honest. First they said they took. My insurance to get me in there ..then said they did not ..then FD me their insurance to get a discount in inflated prices. I was told "quote"you can't get in the chair until you pay in full " u paid over $500 for two fillings that still do not feel right. Then I receive an additional hi for $81.60. Do even though payment was in full ...they felt they needed to do additional work and just added into the paid in full account.. where goes this end !! !? Although I was skeptical about letting Dr. Johnson treat me. She turned out to be really good. She explained the procedure and was very patient and understanding with me. She definitely made going to the dentist doable. The office staff was good too; friendly and courteous. read more

Jessica was awesome; she was very nice, kind, gentle and did a very thorough cleaning; she acted like she really cares. The front staff and office manager, however, were unprofessional and do not display patient care. They gave inaccurate information but never had at least offered an apology for miscommunication nor even a smile that made me feel like they even cared. I just think they should work on being warm and friendly and make each patient feel cared about. Worst dental experience ever!!!!! Minor work just had a molar filled that was chipped. I feel like I've been punched in the face. Dr. Rushed me through! I found plastic left in my gums and still have rough edges on my filling!!!!! Never go here!!!!!!! read more

I see all types or negative reviews about this business but I honestly can not complain. They got me in very quickly. They were very polite and helpful. They fixed my issue the best they could. I had problems resulting from another dentist so they could only do so much because my insurance wouldn't pay for it to be redone. I think they did a wonderful job and helped me find out what my options were medically and financially. I highly recommend giving them a try and I hope your experience is just as good as mine was. I will definitely go back. The office I went to was in Mt Airy NC so I can't speak for all Aspen offices. read more

ok so this is my third review/complaint. I should start from the beginning, with as few details as possible to get the point across. My first visit at the end of November was an evaluation. I had one tooth that the dentist said was holding up good but my former dentist had said it needed to be crowned. That being said... I asked that the tooth be crowned and the procedure commenced. The dentist ground down the tooth and proceeded with the temporary crown and the hygienist was to tak care of that. My ne appointment would be to permanently seal the crown however the "temporary " had to be sawed off to remove!!! I will tr to condense the details and just say that after 3 different times the temporary crown popped off while brushing my teeth and 3 different times I went to have it put back on. My last visit to have it put back on and let me also add that the dentist was emphatic that we save the tooth even after I suggested that it be extracted, she said no let's save it but you will need a root canal. She then said give it two weeks and then we'll decide. I had heard that before in the prio visits. The last visit before the extraction she the dentist said I think we should extract it I can't do anything else to save it. WTH! Are you kidding me?!! That brings me to this. On Jan. 23 I was scheduled to have the tooth extracted. The dentist did a good job with numbing me, I had no pain during the extraction. My nerves were shot from the anxiety though. That leads us to what ha next. Ok the tooth was pulled on a Tuesday and by Friday I was in excruciating pain. It was clear that there was infection where the tooth was and it throbbed terribly. I called and no one answered so I left a m explaining the situation. I heard nothing back. So I was fortunate enough to endure agonizing pain the whole weekend. So when Monday rolled around I was on the phone early to request an antibiotic. The receptionist said she would relay the message to the doctorand would call me back. I had heard nothing at 2 pm so I drove to the dentist office in an attempt to get a prescription for an antibiotic!! The whole left side of my face was swollen to the point that you would have to be blind not to notice. The receptionist told me that the pharmacy would not refill an antibiotic. Um huh what? Wtf? I hadn't had a prescription for anything to my knowledge! I asked what pharmacy was the antibiotic called in to and she couldn't answer. I said do you really think that I would be here if I already had a prescription? I added that I had left 3 messages and they didn't have the decency to return my call! Her reply was that there had been 42 voicemails that they had received that day. I replied that I didn't care how many voicemails they received and that wasn't my problem! The waiting area was quite full and I addressed those people waiting to take heed and not let them touch your teeth as they are the most incompetent people that I have ever encountered!!! I al told the receptionist that I would give anything if I had never stepped foot in that facility!!! I hope my review will educate people to please go somewhere besides Aspen Dental. I ended up going to my doctor who had mercy on me and wrote a prescription for an antibiotic! I do not and would not ever recommend Aspen Dental of Mount Airy to anyone! This place is horrible, I do not recommend this dental office to anyone! The dental assistant traumatized me. When I was explaining why I wasn't happy with the service provided, she laughed in my face and became very hostile. I asked her to get someone else to help me but she raised her voice and said she was trying to make me happy. I wasn't happy, I was humiliate. She continued pushing her hand in my mouth while I was trying to talk. I literally had to push her hand out of my face and tell her to back off. She wouldn't hand me a mirror so I could look at the dentures, I had to get my phone out just to see what they looked like. She took notes and said they would fix them. The next time I went in, the denture was not the one I paid for. they were cheap looking. I paid thousands out of pocket, not to mention what my insurance paid. I had paid for a high quality set and was given the cheap set, I guess because I wasn't happy with the first set. It really wasn't that bad, just a few things needed fixed but the assistant treated me like trash for even saying anything. When I reported this to the office manager, Cindy, she did nothing. The website says they will refund your money if your not happy but that's a joke. I was told I would have to come back in and see the dentist. ummm no thanks. After being abused like that I don't EVER want to go back in there. I'm a medical professional and I'm also a supervisor, myself. There's no way she should be allowed to treat people like that and still have a job. read more
