The one star is for the amazing office manager who deals with tons of chaos. I went there after breaking my front teeth in a fall. 2 of the 3 teeth I broke needed root canals, the other needed a temporary crown. When I went in to get it made I only saw the hygenist. The temp tooth was terrible, I couldn't fully bite down because it was so thick. In the front there was a sharp spot. Luckily I saw the endodontist the next day. She literally spent more time fixing this janky temp than creating two new temps. Please please please do not trust your teeth to these people. read more

I went into the office because I had really fallen behind on my dental care. I was very concerned about what they were going to say. Everyone there was very helpful and nice. Tana was quick with my x-rays and getting my back into a chair. Dr. Truong was very clear about what I needed to get my teeth back on track. Roland was very informative about what kind of cleaning I needed and showed me videos to really help me understand. Roland was quick and efficient with my cleaning, and very understanding to the fact I am sensitive. The person who really helped me was the wonderful woman doing financials, I believe her name is Jaymie. She took her time explaining the the different costs and worked with me to find a treatment plan that I could afford. The whole experience for me was overall a good one. read more

This review is for the Mount Dora location. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! I had lower left side tooth pain in one of my teeth. Turns out they took my decent dental insurance as well! But now the catch! I called first and told them my problem and needed some relief on my tooth that was hurting me the weekend. Gave them my insurance info and told me to come in for FREE XRAYS! After getting them and waiting for them to come and fix my tooth pain, they told me I needed a deep cleaning and many extractions! I told them I wanted my lower tooth pain addressed first. He said, they will give you estimate for cleaning, extractions but they did not do root canals there. I asked why did they have me come in? There was a room full of people, and only 1 dentist. He said, Go get your estimate first! I did and brace yourself, 8-15 thousand dollars minus some insurance discounts!!! I told them that is absolutely not happening! So, my long-time dentist office, um...burned down. While the new office building is being built/remodeled, my wisdom tooth decided it's a great time for it to push its way through and cause a ton of pain. Luckily this Aspen is in a great location and I was able to make it clear to them that I only needed to have my tooth pulled, and wasn't looking for long term treatment. They accept most dental plans here. The dentist was able to pull my tooth with minimal pain, and it healed up just fine without any lingering "dry socket". I've read some reviews complaining about what this office charges for cleanings. For the average patient, standard cleanings are good enough. I would beware of any office that tries hard to up-sell you on over the top cleanings, just my personal opinion. I would return to this location if I have any other issues while my go-to dentist is having his office rebuilt. read more

This is the worst Dental Practice ever!!! My husband and I have been patients of this establishment for almost four years. Every time we pay in full what we are told before we leave, and every time we go back we are told we owe more. My husband paid over $190 for a tooth brush that we never received. What a terrible experience this has been so far and I am only half way thru my treatment. After my initial appointment, I was told someone would reach out to me to schedule my return; 3 weeks later no one had called me. When I called the office, their assistant manager Chad was a train wreck on the phone, one of the worst interactions I've had with anyone representing a company. Brendon, their office manager was able to clean up his mess and I decided to give them a chance. Terrible decision number 02. I should've just gone with my guts and walked away after my interaction with Chad. On my dental plan I had two crowns that I had decided to do and there were two implant tightenings that the Dentist, David Throng had told he would do at no cost. I have it on my estimate, but the day of he claimed he didn't remember saying that and was charging me $332 for it. Brendon, the manager tried to feed me some miscoding excuse so I just told them to forget about it. During my visit, one of the dentist's assistant had absolutely no experience. I understand that people have to start somewhere, but leave the rookie mistakes to school and bring the A game to the clinic. Debbie, the second assistant was coaching her thru the process and helped her make the temporary crowns that were supposed to last for 10 days. Only 4 hours after the appointment, I was having a drink at home and almost washed the top crown down my throat with a swig of a juice. It is Saturday afternoon and they are currently closed with no after hours service; which means I have to get thru the weekend without the top temporary crown. In addition to it not being set properly, it is so badly made that thru the back side of it, one can see the putty that they used to glue it on. I can't express how disappointed I am with this practice. I HIGHLY suggest everyone STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE. I unfortunately have to go back to finish this mess they started. Buyer Beware: The biggest problem is the Oral Surgeon travels to different offices. Should you have any issues after your procedure, there is no way to get a follow up. The paperwork states " Just call during business hours" however, there will be No one to help you. You will have to go to the Emergency Room. I had 2 "5's" some "4's" mostly "1's and 2's" the cleaning was just shy of $2000. Be careful because they tried to put a new Oral B electric toothbrush on my bill, even though I had told them I use a Sonic Care at home. They Hygienist was good. With insurance, I paid over $3000 out of pocket for a pulled tooth and 5 fillings which I paid in full. When I got my wisdom tooth pulled I didn't receive any antibiotics and a stitch that came out the next day. I was in a lot of pain for over a week. Then when I returned they said I owed an additional $300 for a visitation fee. Don't I have to be there to get the procedure done? So I paid it. Then when it was time for my fillings they said I owed another $329 for some kind of insurance issue. I told them to cancel the rest of the procedures and refund the rest of my money. Was told that they could do the work for me little by little. I had to go all the way to Apopka endodontics to get a root canal everything was fine and dandy there. However when I had to return to Aspen dental in Mount Dora for my crown it was a nightmarish experience! Dr. Mike kept moving my chair up and down up and down up and down to the point that I had to see a chiropractor afterwards. He also did not put a block in my mouth so that my tongue would stop squiggling, So I ended up with a fat lip and a sore inside my mouth from all the drilling. And this was all just for a temporary crown. I was told that I could see a different dentist with a better outcome and then I could see my old dentist that they did a bait and switch with who is now an Endo dentist for my root canal. However when I called to schedule and get a refill on a prescription, they actually tried to charge me an additional $455 on top of the $300 that I had been told is all I had to pay to get my permanent crown. They're terrible at answering the phones they're terrible at customer service and they don't care about their patients. If I could give them a zero I would give them zero stars. They don't care that my tooth is chipped, they don't care that I'm in pain, and they don't care the food keeps getting stuck in my tooth. They also don't care that I need my prescription toothpaste to prevent cavities from continuing to fester. I mistakenly visited this dentist's office in hopes of becoming an established patient and obtaining my biannual cleaning ( my regular dentist has been out of commission). To make a long story short they tried to sell me a crown (over $3000) on a tooth that has never given me any trouble. I wait a little bit and then I go to the desk where they quote you the price. $503.00. Yes, $503.00. I bust out laughing, as one would do during shock and awe! I said, That's ridiculous. The girl (billing) says "Well you have gingivitis and need two cleanings and we give you a bunch of products to take home, your not obligated to take them but they're included" So, I'm not obligated to take them but you're sure as hell going to charge me for them. Again, the hygienist said nothing about gingivitis. Funnily enough, the girl said if I didn't get this cleaning today she couldn't schedule an appointment for two months!?! Interesting...a naive person would have definitely felt pressured. The dentist said my teeth looked great except for a chipped one that needed a crown. I was already aware of this and prepared. They only do porcelain for $1391, no choices. On their Mt. Dora website under pricing & offers, it says $808 for crowns, I was never offered this price. I have a crown that's 16 years old, it was $399 with no problems for 16 years... Yesterday I went to Tri-Dental in Eustis. I got an excellent cleaning, xrays and an exam for $49.00, yes $49.00 (All done in one visit!). No one had to see first what kind of cleaning I needed. It was just a regular one. Oh, the best part, I did NOT have gingivitis! Also, they offer the crowns for $399, $599 and porcelain for $799! And the kicker, this dentist is going to give me just a filling on my chipped tooth. She said it would be overkill to grind down a perfectly good tooth with such a small chip for a whole crown!!! I never once mentioned having gone to Aspen first because I wanted an unbiased opinion...so, there you go.. This establishment is crooked. An update on the crown that was replaced. The crown came loose and came out although I had not eaten anything sticky or chewy. I have changed dentists and no longer go to Aspen Dental so I went to my new dentist to have the crown recemented. The crown had been cemented by an assistant and not by a dentist, as well as all of the impressions that were taken. Evidently my new dentist found this to be quite unusual as anything of that nature had to be done by the dentist, not an assistant. There was a cost involved since I didn't go back to Aspen Dental but after all I've been through I gladly paid the charge. This new crown is not even one year old...thank goodness it didn't break. read more

Where do I begin?? I was a patient of the Mt Dora office. I went in and was introduced to Doctor Mike. There was also a young lady who took 2 sets of xrays. Doctor Mike took a look at the xrays and stated that I needed a root canal. I then paid the fee for the work performed. I was under the impression that they were the professionals so I followed their lead. I arrived at Apopka Endotonics and they stated the tooth was cracked and did not need a root canal. I then paid them for their services. Take note that I have now payed two times for the same service.I called Aspen Dental and spoke to Devon I asked him his last name and he sated it was the letter A. I lost more confidence in the establishment as I waited 1 hour on the line waiting to speak to Melissa. At the end of waiting they told me to calll back the next day. I finally did get an audience with Melissa. I explained to her what was happening and she stated they would not give me a refund. I repeated what had occurred and showed her the invoices. Today I went into Aspen Dental and had a tooth pulled and some bridge work done. By Doctor Nabil Youssef, DMD (Managing Clinical Director) and his assistants Geraldine and Nina gladly came in to assist Geraldine. They were as if they were one. Like I said at the beginning totally five star. And that also includes the Doctor. The doctor had a small surprise when he went to pull the tooth instead of having 2 roots it had 3 added a little bit of a complication to it but he handled it and went through like it was routine. Which added to my ability to stay calm also. And I didn't even know about the rest of that until we were done. UPDATE TOOTH PULLED AT 12 NOON 7 HOURS LATER I'VE ONLY TAKEN 3 IBUPROFEN FOR THE PAIN minimal bleeding. The pain I can still smile through so it's not too bad. Now let me sing Geraldine and Nina's praises. From start to end Geraldine was professional and at the end put in the temporary partial as if she does it every day and did a beautiful job Nina came in and helped Geraldine also checked to see if I was happy and also Geraldine was happy with the work and all in agreement we realize that the job could have been done any better. And a shout out to the office crew Tiara, Mechelle the assistant office manager and Adam the manager. And Debbie didn't want to forget you. And my Italian Friend Roland. I went in for an exam and x-rays 2 days ago. The wait was about 20 minutes before I was taken to the back. Once I was in the back, I was able to see first hand how chaotic things were. The woman taking my x-rays was helpful, but obviously overloaded with picking up the slack of other employees. After my x-rays, I was taken to another room, where I sat in a chair waiting for around 20 minutes for the next person to come in. Once he arrived and inspected my teeth, he told me that all of my teeth should qualify as simple extractions, and went through possible treatment plans with me. The next person came in and started rambling off a series of numbers, then he left. I was then taken to the office manager, who seemed nice... The next 30+ minutes of my time was spent with her trying her best to convince me to agree to a $15,000 treatment plan, that she'd get me a discount of apr. 2,000 on (if I agreed to all of it right then). She tried everything to convince me to agree to the terms, and said that all of the extractions that weren't surgical would get me money back. I don't have insurance, so that sounded nice, but I wanted a test run with this dentist first. So I made an appointment for the next day, to have 3 teeth removed. I paid 60% just to make the appointment, and the other 40% was due before treatment. Visit #2 was yesterday. I signed in, paid the remaining 40%, then I waited for over 30 minutes to go back. No discounts were given, and once I climbed into the dental chair, I received the numbing shots. ANOTHER 30+ minutes goes by before I finally see the dentist. By this time, the numbing shots are starting to wear off, but I had things to do, so I tried to tough it out. After all, surgical extractions I've had in the past involved the tooth being removed after the gums (or tooth) were cut (minimal pain). Not this time. The dentist pried and pulled and twisted, which didn't hurt much AFTER I asked for him to numb me better. I received 1 stitch, 0 incisions, and 0 teeth needed to be cut to be removed, but he had billing put it all down as "surgical extractions" to keep from giving back any of my money. On my way out, I heard the dental assistant arguing with billing about how they weren't all surgical extractions. I went back today to see why I was charged for surgical extractions (couldn't talk yesterday). I was told by the office manager that it was because the dentist used a hand tool to pull my teeth, as opposed to how the dentist usually uses a different hand tool to pull teeth. I was infuriated! If he wants to keep more of my money, all he has to do is switch to a different hand tool?! I'm sorry, but that's BS in every field of work. Not long after that, I received a call from the office manager. She called to let me know that the dentist said that he charged me more for "surgical extractions" even though he performed simple extractions on me because other dentists might have needed to remove the teeth surgically. I'll be getting my charts to get 2nd opinions before contacting BBB and possibly taking legal action. I WILL NOT REFER ANYONE TO ASPEN DENTAL. My husband got new dental insurance finally and figured it was time to get the teeth a good cleaning. I made an appointment with this office because it was one of them on the insurance list. When I went in for the initial visit I sat in the front office for 20 minutes without ever seeing the receptionist or any staff. I was started to get worried when finally she came out of the back carring her purse. I assuming she just got back in from her lunch break. She still did not pay any attention to me for 5 more minutes until I finally told her I was a new paitent and was there paperwork. The x ray tech was absolutely the best. Very friendly, gentle and well spoken. She needs to find a new office to work in that will use her wisely. Then as I'm waiting for the dentist to come in some guy comes in from the other office and stands by me asking what time my appointment was? How long had I been there? Was this my first time in the office? He made me very uncomfortable and when I brought this up to the office manager she said she hadn't heard about this incident. I said, I know, because it just happened and I'm just now telling you about it. She said there was nothing to do about it, but she would like to talk to me for a half hour about the extensive work they wanted to do on my teeth. That's when I left. I went to Aspen back in Aug 2017 and had a bridge put in. Which I really didnt need but the dentist she talked me into saying she could fix the whole where a tooth was pulled out years ago. So I okay. So after they put it in there were problems with the bridge the teeth looked to large compared to the teeth on the other side of my mouth. There was one problem after the next. Roughly a year afterward the crown cracked and I contacted them and they said it would be okay. So last year I couldn't take the pain any more and went to see another dentist who informed me that the tooth had 2 cracks and the bridge needed to be totally redone as it didnt even sit on the gums like it should causing decay underneath. So I went back to Aspen who looked at it and said oh sorry but yes you need a new bridge but we dont have any warranty and it will cost you over $3000 like that was just pocket change to me. So I contacted the insurance company to see what they could do they said go see another dentist for a second opinion. So I went and saw another dentist and he said that there are 2 cracks on the crown and the bridge needs to be totally replaced., but if I would have gone to him in the first place "he covers his bridges for 5 years." I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in Aspen. I would say the only thing if I was you to go to them for would be a cleaning and maybe a filling I dont no about the filling never had one there. When I called and made the appointment for my daughter, at the Mount Dora clinic, I explained that I would be paying cash, as we don't have dental insurance. I was told they would wave the examination fee, and that the extraction would run $154.00, per extraction, and that a 20% discount would be applied for one extraction. My daughter had one tooth removed, in under 20 minutes, and was charged 254.00 (or close to that) and NO 20 % discount was applied. I spoke with the receptionist the next day,12/1/2017, to see why it was so expensive, and to see what happened with the 20% discount, and was told that the extraction was more, because it required surgery to do it, fine, but why wasn't I told that when I made the appointment, and the costs of procedures, and billing were explained? She said her billing manager was not in, and would be back after the weekend (it was Friday when I called) I called back the following Tuesday,12/5/2017, and was told that she could not discuss the matter with me, and that she would have to speak with my daughter about the matter, even though there was no problem speaking to me on Friday! I had my daughter call, and all she got was a runaround, and about 5 different reasons why they didn't apply the 20% discount, along with the extraction story. So while my daughter was very happy with the dentist, and the work done, the billing was very unprofessional, and shady. It's a shame, because when I initially made the appointment, I was happy, having thought that we found an affordable dentist for my wife, who is in need of dental work as well, but I can't do business with a company that doesn't stand by what they say. All of the staff were very professional and friendly. The dentist and hygienist were very efficient and professional. I will definitely be coming back for all of my dental needs. read more

Update: Went to Dr. Jackson in Eustis for second opinon, treated me immediately xrays and pulled one tooth that could not be saved for 337.00 and he advised while the tooth next to it had a slight crack it did NOT need to be pulled and would need a crown probably at some point. Unreal Aspen advised that tooth could not be saved as well and advised a bridge replacement for both and all these trumped up ridiculous charges, thank God I went to Dr. Jackson and did not get sucked into thousands of dollars especially for unnecessary treatment and also he immediately cared enough to remove the infected tooth and get me OUT of pain unlike Aspen who sent me on my way regardless of how bad the situation was, unwilling to extract the tooth and help me. Worse experience I've ever had with a dental office. I don't believe they were honest with me at all and are not reasonably priced as the commercials state either. I have decided enough is enough and I'm now trying to get back a great deal of money that they charged me for prior to doing the work. Some of the money I requested in November, then again via letter last week. I am now going to have to find another dentist to finish the work that is not complete. It took 3 attempts to get a bridge to fit and it still does not fit quite right. Today they called me, probably because I sent an email to their customer satisfaction email address yesterday. I called back but hung up after six and a half minutes of sitting on hold. I went in with a toothache, and came out with a lot less money and a screwed up mouth.
