Against my better judgment I gave this office another chance. Little did I know they were just stalling until the 90 day period was up. Which, btw, I knew nothing about. Please, do not get your dental work done here! Am I open to discussing what happened? I've tried that twice and got no satisfaction. I want the refund of over $1300 for my lower partial. I will not be calling the North Port office ever again! At this point you need to look at my records, find my phone number and call me. BTW, your company's price for a crown is WAY out of line. First of all that tooth doesn't need a root canal. It's cracked tooth syndrome. So, I got the crown done for $1650. Your office in North Port wanted $4500. So, I will return the partial, which I haven't used since September of last year, once your company refunds the full amount of that partial. Anything other than that, don't bother! read more

Horrible. THE WORST dentist I've ever been to. They wanted me to kiss their feet for making me wait all day in the waiting room just to stay 15 minutes after closing to pull the tooth causing me agonizing pain. Of course a REAL dentists just squeezes that in between appointments as an emergency visit. Of course they did in fact have time to try to sell me a full set of implants for 20 grand! Then a later visit caused an infection the caused me to go through 3 courses of antibiotics to cure it. Even though I had multiple extractions done, she insisted on NOT giving me the pain meds I needed, so I suffered afterwards for over a week. If you like being treated horribly, this is your place. And NOW, many months after having work done and being assured I had a ZERO deductible and nothing out of pocket, I get a bill for over $600.00, Not going to happen! HOWEVER, after calling corporate and speaking to Dawn, the bill was rightfully squashed, kudos Dawn and thanks for the immediate remedy to the issue! I wish I could say good things about this business. Well, I can say that the reception staff are warm and friendly. All while being required to ask patients for money they don't owe (due to poor record-keeping), apologizing for scheduling errors, and trying to placate patients who have been waiting for an hour or more to be seen. The practice in North Port is owned by Dr. Dixon, who also owns multiple Aspen practices in the area. He's incompetent as an administrator and shows a complete lack of concern for his patients. Twice now I've had dental procedures/surgeries and had to wait a long time to be seen get in, despite having had nothing to eat or drink for over 8 hours. The first time I waited over 2 hours; the second time was about 45 minutes. The dentists never checked in with me afterwards to see how I was doing. After running into some very painful problems after the first surgery, Dr. Dixon was out of town and I finally got an appointment with another Aspen dentist in a different office. He took a quick look, told me there wasn't any infection, but didn't do anything to find out what was causing the pain. A week later bone shards started poking out of the incision--clearly the cause of my pain. I know bone shards can occur after oral surgery, but these were not tiny and I had 7 ones work their way out. This is medical incompetence--that's too many shards, evident by the fact that no one even thought of that being the cause of my pain. After my second surgery I received no aftercare instructions, and when I called several days later due to extreme pain and swelling the dentist called in a script for more pain meds but did not attempt to contact me or see me to find out what was going on. The only reason I've kept going back is because I'm having implants done and had to pay for everything--tens of thousands of dollars--up front. But never again. Update: Aspen Dental responded to my review, suggesting that I should contact their Patient Satisfaction Team to discuss my experiences. I contacted their "Patient Satisfaction Team" multiple times (late November/early December) and both times was promised a call back from the Regional Manager -- who never called. Staff at the North Port office also asked for them to call me--which they never did. So I'm not going to call them back again. read more

I wish I could say something positive here. Their front desk staff was very friendly. Other than that, they weren't going to be able to fix the cap that had fallen off in my husband's mouth but they could pull a tooth and then NEVER CALL IN HIS PRESCRIPTION. To top it off, it was on a Friday, so he had to go the whole weekend without penicillin or painkillers. And the 24 hour emergency line never answered their phone. We have been patients of Aspen Dental elsewhere, but this was the worst. read more

The people were wonderful, from Dr Marino to Courtney who Manages the front end along with Leia and Becky the techs. I found everyone I dealt with to be very personable and friendly. Had 2 cracks in my dentures with 6 months of having them made at this office. I called for repaired for the 3rd cracking and they told me I was 19 days over my warranty and they could do nothing. The office manager was very unprofessional on the phone . I am now stuck with a 6month old dentures that has a cracks and they will not help at all. Go to a different office. read more

Have had a number of bad experiences here. Poor response from staff on appointments - telephone had to vist the office twice to get a "call back". Completely botched my procedure due to untrained staff. Had cleaning the hygienist said no issues came in a few weeks later and it showed I needed a cavity filled. Who put that in? Do NOT go here and if you have, please get a second opinion before having any work done!! However don't expect their "free X-rays and copies of your X-rays" to be useable anywhere else. These people are crooks and perform unnecessary work. I heard bad things prior to going but tried to ignore it and form my own opinion. Believe me now when I say everything you hear about these people are true. Two separate offices, myself and my daughter, same issue. For myself, first appointment, I was given a $10,000 patient cost total treatment plan for root canals, teeth pulling, caps to be placed, multiple cavities, rooting and scaling, etc. They presented the treatment plan and wanted me to make payment arrangements right then. No way am I signing a contract for work they say they are going to do "at some point." I told them I would I rather pay for things as it is done. End of story. Next appointment- rooting and scaling. Paid $610 upfront before treatment was performed-of course. Procedure took about an hour for my entire mouth. Seemed odd to me that they did my whole mouth at once bc I have had this done before and it's usually done in quadrants but whatever. The hygienist was great and I have absolutely no complaints about her. When the procedure was finished, she asked me if I had an electronic toothbrush and I told her I had one at home. She told me good bc they are out of them in the office and she was going to remove that charge from my bill. Whhhaaat?? What charge? So I asked. She said there was a charge of $135 for an electric toothbrush. Shame on me for not realizing this sooner but I did see that and thought that has something to do with the cleaning, not an actually toothbrush for $135. But the charge was removed, so great. I leave and proceed to the front desk to ask about my refund for the charge that was removed from my bill and she said "oh you'll just have a credit on your account, so you won't have to pay anything when you come in for your appointment next week." At the time, ok fine whatever, but seeing as though that appointment ended up being cancelled and now I don't plan on going back, i still have yet to see this refunded to me. I reached out to "customer satisfaction" early last week and have yet to hear anything back nor the money that should have been refunded to me for a stupid toothbrush. Prior to cancelling all of my appts and reaching out to customer satisfaction, my experience with a different office (still Aspen Dental) in that my daughter had an appointment. She had two cavities that were found by her orthodontist. Discussion was had with the dentist about one of them possibly needing a root canal but that he would try and fill without going that route first. He then takes his notes to the financial manager to create a treatment plan and comes back a few minutes later to tell me that on second thought, he recommends a root canal. Excuse me? We JUST had this discussion, at length. Did your financial manager just tell you you didn't charge me enough or something? What dentist takes orders from their financial manager and bases patient treatments off of it??! Then it's time to go over treatment plan and cost with the financial manager. The financial manager tell me she needs TWO root canals and goes over charges for this. How does one "maybe root canal, we will try and just fill it first" turn into TWO root canals, no questions asked. That was the straw for me. I cancelled every appointment with them and asked for copies of X-rays. The X-rays they sent me are not usable by anyone. They cut the pictures off when they send them or don't send you all of them. Mine were sent to me electronically. My daughters I had to pick up bc there was some reason they couldn't send both X-rays digitally via encrypted email. Whatever again. My daughters X-ray they provided me was a printed copy of a panoramic view of her mouth. That's it. These people are crooks and only after money. My new dentist and treatment plan is $1400. My daughter does not need a root canal. What does that tell you? DO NOT GO THERE!!! read more

After leaving my review I get the "apology response" from Dawn on here and she asked I speak with her. So I called her only to get nowhere lol what a joke ! This office lies ! So I told "Dawn" I spoke with the FL board of dentistry they sent me the papers to file a complaint on the office (which is not a good thing to have on them) the Fl board of dentistry suggested I call to see if we can resolve this matter before taking the next action. According to Dawn decision has been made and they don't care That I am filing a complaint! Goes to show how much they care about there practice ! I visited Aspen Dental for the first / LAST time this past Summer. I've heard them compared to a used car salesman - and it's the best way to describe my experience as well. We're new to the area - and this was my lesson learned. I went in for a dental cleaning and general checkup - and to see what I thought in an effort to find a new dentist. The people working here are friendly enough - but unorganized and incapable. I was there over 2+ hours .... WARNING: They will try to sell, sell, sell and convince you that you have serious periodontal disease, require immediate expensive treatment and will hassle you to have it done ' right away'. They took every angle of an X-ray imaginable, and tried hard to convince me I had severe infection/bacteria along my upper and lower gum lines. I've always had healthy teeth, so I was shook up to say the least. They even 'do you a favor' by checking with your insurance to see what is approved on the procedures they recommend and if you can do it in one visit, or will need two. (Shaking my head) Just more office visit $$$ for them. Then they proceed to text, call and hassle you to try to get you back in the door ASAP to have all this done. Something didn't ring true about any of this with me, and I didn't appreciate the hard sell, so I booked an appointment with another, 'real' dentist for a second opinion.( Also to get the cleaning and a real checkup that I'd originally asked for and never got (!) only to confirm that my teeth are in great shape with no issues. This office is the worst kind using 'false kindness' and preying on fear to try to squeeze out every dime they can. My husband had teeth out and got new dentures. The procedure part went well, so that should get 5 stars. The problem is with the financing issue and after almost 3 months it hasn't been solved. When he went back the next day for a fitting we told the girl that he wanted to get the less expensive dentures and change the payment plan to a 18 month deferred interest plan. Financial rep said it was okay and she put a ticket in to change it. After two months she finally sent back the money for the cheaper dentures to the finance company but she still hasn't changed the plan. Update: This was in the North Port office not Venice read more

I almost made a appt for this place. Im so glad I didnt and read all the bad reviews. I did years ago , go to a Aspen Dental, and it was pretty bad. Trying to sell you procedures you dont need , I went to have my teeth cleaned , and I had no idea , the day you go , you wait for like a hour. Then a girl chks your teeth and mouth , be sure you dont have issues , then after a hour if all that , I said , ok are you going to clean my teeth now? She said NO you have to come back for that at a later date , and you still have to see the dentist before that !!!!!!!! This was the one in Port Charlotte , I had just moved here , I went back like a week or 2 later and got my teeth cleaned, . Yes. Well I just went in to have my dentures cleaned and they told me I have to pay $55.00 for the whole process this my second year having them cleaned and I didn't have to pay anything. They claim that it's a law that the dentist has to look in your moth to see if you have a exam for cancer or cold sore.like I wouldn't have notice if I had any problem. FIRST/LAST TIME UNFORTUNATELY. I had a scheduled appointment for 5. I show up at 4:40 only to be told by the lady at the front who did call me day prior for appointment approval and details as well as my insurance.. only to find out when I arrive that she was still trying to figure out if my insurance is accepted. So as I sit patiently lady is trying to figure it out as she eventually does. Time being 5:30 now. She said I should be called back shortly. It then hits 5:40 and she goes hey they are running a few minutes late back there do you want to wait or reschedule? I said being that I wasn't set to be seen at my scheduled appointment time I should have rescheduled or just found another dentist. She goes so do you want to reschedule? I said if I decide I will call. And I will never. I understand the whole "COVID THING EXCUSE" but waiting an hour just to be asked if you'd like to reschedule on a first time visit... now tell me what you wanna hear? Thanks for nothing! read more

I had to have a root canal done here. It went very well. The Doctor did a wonderful job. I had no pain during the procedure. The staff here are outstanding. Very friendly. Unlike many of the other Aspen Dentals that fell very robotic. Victorya the office manager is a true gem of this office. Her infectious attitude brings a smile to everyone she has the time to talk with. I would rate this location a 6 stars if I could. read more

Im a snowbird and two weeks after arriving from up north I broke a tooth---I have gone to the same dentist for 38 years and had a real fear of going to an unknown that I had never been to before. It was a front tooth and I had no choice. I made an appointment online and from the get go the experience was good. Someone called within a day to inquire about my insurance so it would all be taken care of by the time I got to their office. Once I got to the office everyone was very professional and welcoming. I got xrays and some standard things taken care of by Becky who was a dental assistant---she was wonderful--the dentist then came in and looked at everything and recommended an implant or a bridge and suggested I get a temporary tooth until I decided what to do. I had to have an extraction--yikes!! There was no pushiness --I never felt rushed. On my second appt. to get the extraction I was nervous and Dr Shah could not have been more comforting and compassionate. To make a long story short, the procedure was done flawlessly ,in such a short amount of time ,I hardly knew it had happened. I was happy to get Becky again as the assistant and a before I left I had a brand new temporary tooth in front and could smile again! I don't often give a review of 5 but I just could not find anything to complain about! Definitely would recommend them and will use them again in the future when we are here in the winter for cleaning and emergency treatment. read more

Zero Stars here. They just opened and already deserve to be shut down. Overpriced and over-procedured from them. They refuse to allow patients to be part of the treatment plan--you are forced to get what they say even in you disagree with it or have another dentist look at it and disagree. Insurance fraud to say the least. You go in for a cleaning and get a two page report of everything extra they force on you--stuff not needed and not covered by insurance. I've lived in foreign countries and 7 states and never, ever, had anything like these quacks. It's easier dealing with sleezy used car salespeople than anyone as aspen. Please don't make the same mistake I did. I wish I would have read Yelp's reviews prior to going. These people are far worse than used car salesmen! They are predators, sharks! I went there for a routine cleaning & was told I needed all kind of work, including an extraction & partial dentures. I thoroughly explained to the front desk man that I had a dire financial situation and no money to pay for all this service. He said, no problem, we will apply for a credit card that covers dental work. I said okay. He applied. I was approved for $3,000. The dental work I required was $2,700 so the man said the card would cover it and I was happy. They did the cleaning, extraction, filling, etc., but when I went back for the permanent partial dentures, I was told that I needed to pay more money or else they could not provide the dentures. The same guy that told me the credit card would cover it all, blatantly lied to my face & said that he had told me that additional work would not be covered by the $3,000...what additional work? Besides ripping me off with the credit card, they have been billing my insurance company. I am wondering if I really needed the extraction/filling. These people oversell, overcharge, are deceiving, conniving, lying scum bags. If you value your hard earned money stay away from Aspen Dental. read more

About 2 years ago an Aspen dentist recommended dentures for my dental problems: Full uppers & partial lowers. The recommended plan included crowns for 4 of the remaining 6 lower teeth. At that time I asked about the advisability of removing all my teeth & getting full upper & lower dentures. I was told I would be much happier if I followed the Aspen recommendation. I followed this advice and paid about $15,000 for the treatment which included about $10,000 for the 4 crowns. About 2 weeks ago, I noticed a problem with one of my remaining lower teeth. I went back to Aspen & was examined. I was told that all the previous dental work needed to be removed & replaced with a full lower denture. The quoted cost is $4881.80. In my opinion, I was given an incredibly bad initial treatment plan recommendation by Aspen & that I paid dearly for putting my trust in Aspen. Aspen has not accepted any responsibility at all for this situation & has shown no interest in sharing the financial burden of their incorrect recommendation. Aspen seems more interested in extracting more money from me. I do not want charity. I do expect professional dental care combined with honesty, integrity, sincerity & responsibility. I find it impossible to believe that that the Aspen business model was designed to meet any of these expectations. Don't go! The other yelp review I read talked about it being like going to a used car sales men and it is but I was told it was in network so I just said no to all the overselling and up charging they try to do. But after confirming with them three times that I was in network I went through an hour and a half of X-rays, the dental hygienist (of which they was no cleaning just a bunch of up-selling I didn't need) and then waiting for the doctor a woman comes in to say they actually don't take my insurance. I'm disabled, had to have a family member drive me 30 minutes to get there which I stressed when talking to them Monday when they confirmed they took my insurance because I didn't want to go through all of this if I'm not in network. Also I need a tooth extracted badly. Victoria, who assured me that they took my insurance stormed in the room, talked over me no less the 7 times, accused me of being rude to the her whole staff ( I was rude to no one which two other staff confirmed to me when I was checking out, one of whom apologized to me for her behavior when we were in the room bc she was so aggressive with me) told me I could leave if I didn't like it. I was appropriately expressing frustration and even admitted my dental insurance is terrible but she kept hammering me and over-talking me every time I tried to explain my frustration. Then enter the doctor, who Victoria acted much nicer in her presence but still over talked me. The dentist proceeded to tell me Victoria was a kind and caring person and she was just trying to help me. Oh by telling me if I don't like it I can get out? Forgive me if I didn't feel cared for. Im 45 years old and I'm quite aware of what rudeness and aggressiveness looks like. I'm also a licensed clinician and know the standards of care, which was deplorable once she hit the scene. The dentist totally disregarded my feelings, went on and said we are a team here so I know Victoria wants the best for you. What is a shame, is there were several very friendly staff who several times apologized or recognized how badly things were handled. I will actually be making a formal complaint. The office is state of the art but the care is terrible! Also they have 10/10 for reviews on their corporate website really, but two 1 out of 5s on yelp which is a site they cannot control, which is very interesting. read more
