I believe that they were competent even though a few radiographs had to be retaken by a trainee. Now the bad. I have never had anywhere NEAR as many radiographic views/exposures in all of my years of dentistry (and they are a lot of years). When it came time for the $$ shock and the upsells (here is a screening you might want, here is a substance we could use, here is a medicine that could help) which came to $1000 (for an asymptomatic patient with a few erosions and some plaque) I said, "Hey, how about I just stick with the basic cleaning my insurance covers?" I was told no, that they could not possibly do a basic cleaning, and that I would have to pay nearly $500 for the advanced ultrasound cleaning first. It's one thing to upsell, but another entirely to refuse a patient basic care because I don't want to pay for suggested bells and whistles. Stay FAR away. read more

I am a cancer patient that went to them for help to fix my top denture because it was cracked. I told them I had cancer, they said no problem. They took me back and took x ray's that I didn't need. The dentist came in and looked in my mouth. I still have some teeth on the bottom. He said that they needed to be removed. Said I had to get a oral surgeon. I said okay. Went back out front to talk about how much it was going to cost. They said it was going to cost a little over 6000.00 dollars. I said ok and I reminded them that I had cancer. They said that it would be fine. I came back to do impressions of my teeth, so they can make new ones. Come day for the oral surgeon to remove my teeth the surgeon refused to work on me, due to my cancer. Now the new dentures will not fit due to still having my real teeth still in place. They are talking about grinding my teeth down and trying to make them work. Insurance has already paid them, I have already paid a portion, so far they are refusing to refund or make the situation right. read more

i would not recommend this place at all! I am a college student trying to work around my busy schedule to get my wisdom teeth removed. I had originally had an appointment all set up for March 11th to get them out. And I even paid over the phone to confirm my appointment. To follow up with my appointment, I called them up to see what I have to do to prepare for my appointment They claimed that they never had me on the schedule in the first place!! Then to try and get the next available appointment, they mad me Get a referral from my dentist in order to set up that appointment. Mind you, I didn't even have to do this the first time when I had already made my first appointment. They sent me on a wild goose chase with them for 4 days! When I tried to call them back a few times, they hung up on me twice!! Then I finally called back today and begged for someone to help me get an appointment, which I was told for the last couple days was still available. The lady claims that that date had already been booked full for a couple days now! So, they had lied to me this whole time as I was fighting tooth and nail just to get my appointment done after they screwed up on me. The front desk people are the most unreliable, lazy, and incompetent people I have ever met. They said they would have someone call me back to get everything figured out and they never did. I would have give these people 0 stars if the system would have let me. Never again will I return and I will make sure to tell other people. read more

My 81 year mother went here for a set of lower snap in teeth. They took $8000 and did the surgery. They didn't guarantee the work and left a piece of instrument near a nerve. The whole thing didn't work and they would give her money back. She had to go to another organization to do another surgery correctly. read more

Over the past 2 years they have made me reschedule every appointment I have scheduled for my two boys and some for me either because they "double booked" or someone quit. I pick times that work for me but when I have to reschedule I get stuck with times that don't work for me or wait a long time to get what I want which will probably end up getting rescheduled again. Aspen in Oneonta is a scam. We have two dental insurance policies that cover all dental procedures. Aspen bills you since they scheduled an appointment with a out of network dentist. NO BUENO. We are new to area, trying to establish new patient care. I looked past the reviews.....and took a chance because waiting to get established takes MONTHS in this area. I don't fault the front desk, I fault the larger Aspen Corporation for encouraging the 'overbooking' strategy. We were early for 930am appointments, only to be told AFTER we completed our intake paperwork that appointments were running 30 to 45 minutes behind---even though they had only been open for an hour & had 5 dentists on duty ?! Went for a 6 month check up. Waited in chair 45 minutes after cleaning. They stated they were short handed. I said I'm leaving and they found a "dentist" that tried very hard to up sell me. I felt he was an aid not a dentist so the next day I called to ask his name. It's 6 months now and after many calls they will not answer. read more

Two of my family members made an appointment here after confirming their appointment on email. When we got there, they said they didnt confirm the appointment wgeb they got a phone call. My family menbers both looked to see if they missed the call, but there were no calls making them feel gaslighted. These were two different occasions. Called for an appt. and after they asked lots of questions, including what insurance I had, I was told they accepted it and an appt. was made. This place is insane! They have done so many crazy things over the past few years that I cant even list them but Ill out a few so everyone knows this is not the place to go. They never have emergency appointments available, if there is a credit on your account they take years to send you a check even though they expect to be paid right then! They act as if you are a new patient if you haven't been in a few months and make you go through the whole process again. They ignore you when you are in pain, they refuse to take teeth out without being put under, they cancel your appointment randomly (said they called to confirm and never did) apparently they are so busy that even though you took time off work the doctor probably wont get to you! Thats just to name a few let alone the shotty work they do... Please save yourself and drive a bit if you have to, for a place with better care. read more

Fucking awful. Would rate 0 stars if I could. I was overcharged for x-rays and a check-up. Over $700 wasted later, I found out they fucking lied to me about the condition of my teeth, anyway. I was told I had 11 cavities. This would have taken over $2,000, if not more, to fix. The dentist was absolutely rude to me and didn't seem professional at all. I waited about an extra hour for him, on the chair, to come in. He fucked around with the pick and mirror for 5 seconds and told me my teeth were horrible because apparently, since I like to eat fruit, it ruins your teeth or whatever. He put a filter over my x-rays, turned up the brightness, and pointed out all the "anomalies", which weren't cavities at all, then shooed me out like some sort of bug. In reality, I've found out from going back to my previous dentist that I only have 3 cavities. Not 11, not some other excessive number that would get them big bucks, only 3. Never consider this shithole. Any Aspen Dental is a huge scam and I will not stand to let anyone else be overcharged for something you can get done for $200 or less at a local, and PROFESSIONAL dentist. read more

malpractice stay away!!!!! this dental practice is a sham and they do not know what they are doing. i was told that i had 3 cavities which i think is wild because i take really great care of my teeth, they quoted me at 2k to do this work and told me that I risk teeth loss if I didn't book it ASAP.. obviously shocking news for me as I have never had a cavity. The Doctor was an older guy who BARELY looked at my mouth, and then laughed at me when he said "your teeth are destroyed, you have 3 cavities and risk tooth loss" . I quickly seeked a second opinion and guess what? no cavities. not a single one. absolutely disgusted that someone could do this to a patient. They are unable to pull a tooth without an x ray and their machine is out to lunch but they claim to be dentists I am sorry but teeth have been pulled by dentists for decades prior to the almighty x ray and it was a simple 1 tooth extraction. Aspen Dental lures in patients with the promise of a free exam and x-ray, only to charge for unnecessary procedures and mislead patients about their care. While the x-rays and scan went fine, the dentist came in, looked at me briefly, and told me I had a hole in one filling that I would need to watch. When I went to talk to the consultant (?), she told me that I needed to have the filling replaced which wasn't covered by my insurance. It was going to cost over $200 to have a silver filling and almost $700 to have the white bonded filling. I went to a different dentist for a second opinion who told me that I do not need to have the filling replaced and that I have 5-10 years left in that filling. Additionally, an out-of-pocked filling at that dentist would have cost $200 for the white bonded filling. I also had a cleaning at Aspen Dental, which was fine but not very thorough. At the end of the cleaning the hygienist said "and you're okay with the fluoride treatment?" I asked if it was covered by insurance and she told me she would have to check. The treatment was not covered by my insurance and would have cost $30. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this practice to anyone. Worst-case, get your x-rays here and have them sent to a family dental practice for your actual care. read more

Horrible experience. I went in for a cleaning and to have a crown reinstalled. They take exhaustive xrays for which the insurer is charged, but they use those to sell you a bill of goods. It appears from other reviewers that they normally try to sell everyone a "deep cleaning" before starting on any actual dental work. I didn't realize how much of the "estimate" is toward the "deep cleaning". The insurer will only pay around $100 for a cleaning but this process will cost you over $600 out of pocket. I had the first half of the cleaning done before realizing how much this is actually costing me. I walked out and cancelled my remaining appointment once I realized how their scam worked. There is no such thing as a free puppy and there is no such thing as "free xrays". read more

I really appreciated Aspen for a long while. My teeth started looking so much better. Then within a few months, everything they did fell out. I saw 2 other dentists in the area for an evaluation. I brought them the crowns and composite fillings that fell out, the x-rays and notes, and both agreed that 3 teeth didn't need to be pulled and the crown screws weren't strong enough to stay put. I spent thousands and took out 2 loans. I have 5 missing teeth and am too embarrassed to smile. I think I understand now that they want to do implants for $5-6000 apiece. I think they know exactly what they're doing and it's criminal. I spoke to a lawyer and he suggested I never go to an Aspen Dental center again. They have a bad track record. For anyone who is suffering in the same way, know this....they can be sued for the shoddy work, and made to pay for the transplants that you now need. The 2nd loan company told me they can't take the money back that they gave Aspen, but when I sent in pictures of what my mouth looks like, they did it immediately. read more

Horrible place. The dentist was rude. Looked in my mouth for 2 seconds & said you need dentures. Never looked at the x-rays. He was short with me when I asked questions & was just rude all around. I asked if an antibiotic would help with the pain & was told maybe & he walked out of the room & that was the end of my dentist visit. I did not get an antibiotic. The office staff & technicians were wonderful & polite & helpful. The dentist should take some lessons from the staff & how to speak to people. His job is to help people, not make them feel like shit. read more

Awful! Worst place!!! Made my husbands dentures sold us a "lifetime warranty" that magically turned to a 7 year warranty. His dentures broke OFTEN, they never would replace them. I requested a cleaning and got an appointment with no issues.  Everything seemed  great until I went in.  I went inside and they took almost a dozen X-rays claiming because I was a new patient it was standard.  After that I was put in a chair and I thought they were going to perform the cleaning.  They said I needed a full mouth scan and not to worry about it because it wouldn't cost me anything.  I didn't request it or want it.  After my gums were examined a doctor came in and told me I had a cavity.  Shortly after that they sat me in a waiting room stating they would get a plan together. I felt like I was in a used car dealership and they were trying to upsell me(very unprofessional). Shortly after that they brought me up to the front where they said they had to schedule me for a filling and cleaning?  1.25 hours spent there and they never performed a cleaning which is the only thing I requested or wanted! I explained that I was only there for a cleaning and thought that's what I was going to be treated for. They claimed they couldn't do it because my insurance company didn't open until 9AM(it was 8:15AM) and if they didn't cover it I would liable(they offered a 7AM appointment weeks beforehand with no such disclaimer).  They called me and I gave them my insurance information the day before and they had plenty of time beforehand.  They are clearly looking to run up a bill and not concerned with the patient's needs at all.  I asked for a bill of services they performed and they sent me the "plan" which included services that were not performed. I'm still waiting for the bill of services they actually performed. Check the other reviews there is a reason for so many negative ones. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! read more

Staff was always VERY rude, they told me how much my insurance would cover for my dentures and they were WAY off leaving me a HUGE bill and my lower permanent dentures broke in half after 3 months when I was eating a graham cracker. I went to Aspen Dental in Oneonta, NY for an upper denture. From the time they pulled my upper teeth in October 2021 to the present 1/17/22 I have been in constant pain with the ill-fitting temporary denture they provided. The denture is lopsided; one side is higher than the other and the roof at the top is lumpy and super thick; the lumps press painfully on the roof of my mouth. The service they say they will provide is a blatant lie. If you are in distress, they will give you an appointment that is convenient for them - regardless of the discomfort you are experiencing. I strongly urge you to not go to this facility. My upper denture cost over $5,000 and for $5,000 I received nothing but heartache. I am dreading what the permanent denture will be like. Well, here is my experience with Aspen Dental. I had a small cavity on the lower outside near the gum line of my lower jaw. The Dentist drilled and drilled and drilled while I was in excruciating pain. Tears were pouring out of my eyes. I was told not to be a baby so the dentist gave me another shot of pain killer which squirted out of my mouth and continued to drill some more for a partial root canal. Still in pain the dentist tells me that the tooth can't be saved. I got a bill for almost $300. I will never return to Aspen. Now I have to go to another dentist to have the tooth pulled surgically. They are terrible. Do not go to them. When I saw the Doctor, she didn't even acknowledged that I was even there. She looked into my mouth for 15 seconds, told me I needed a deep cleaning, and walked out the door. I was brought into the finance office to discuss if I wanted to get a loan because the "Deep Cleaning" would cost $1500.00. Are you kidding me? I finally when to a different dentist. He spent 20 minutes with me and I didn't have any problems. He said I had beautiful teeth and wished all his patient could be so lucky. I had a regular cleaning and that's all I needed. Really awful experience. My initial exam consisted of x-rays and the dentist barely poking around in my mouth before informing me that I needed 10 (yes, ten) fillings AND a root canal. Without any serious pain in my mouth, I was very skeptical. I take good care of my teeth and I've gone to enough dentists to know what a thorough exam is like. So, I declined their offer for a follow-up and found a different dentist... Without informing my new dentist of what I was told by Aspen Dental, this other dentist (who had great recommendations) told me that I needed ZERO fillings and no root canal. There were two spots that he wanted to keep an eye on when I come back in 6 months, but that's it. When I told him that I had been told I needed 10 fillings and a root canal, he laughed - literally laughed - and said absolutely not, that those would be ridiculously unnecessary treatments for me. Before going, be sure to check out Frontline's special report on Aspen Dental titled "Dollars and Dentists". Basically, they show how Aspen Dental (and other national chain places like them) try to get you to do a number of unnecessary procedures in order to make more money. Awful. I was told I had to pay a $38.00 co-pay for a cleaning when my insurance company told me they are in network and cleanings are covered 100% with no out of pocket expense and my last cleaning was covered 100% but now they want to charge me. Also when I had my last cleaning they asked me if I wanted a fluoride treatment The treatment costs $48.00 and my insurance covered $18.00 so I would have to pay $30.00. I agreed and paid the $30.00 before I left. When I showed up for this cleaning I was told I owed $15.00 for what my insurance didn't cover. When I called my insurance they had no record of this and any money I owed. I know it's only $15.00 but how can I ever trust them the next time I ask how much it's going to cost me out pocket for any procedure. next time could be a $100.00 oops. Also the first time I went here was 1 Year ago when I broke a tooth. I had just moved to New York and had just had a check up at another dentist 2 weeks prior before breaking a tooth I was told I had no cavities but yet this dentist told me I had several cavities. Then the dentist looked at my teeth for 10 seconds with no tools and told me that I needed 4 fillings and possibly a root canal (I had had two fillings a year ago, so that seemed unlikely) and told my husband he needed 10 fillings and a root canal. The staff and the dentist were professional and friendly. I had to have extractions, and dentures fitted. I knew this before, but was too afraid to have the work done. The dentist put me at ease and I would recommend highly. The Madison WI, location is awesome and I will never go anywhere else. Dr. Wang, Denejah, Lexis, Katie, Madison and Alby are a great team. My first visit I was told they scheduled me at a time that I could not be helped. My second appointment I waited 35 minutes past my scheduled time, was never told they were running late or any acknowledgement at all on how long my wait would be. So, I left, but not before I scheduled another appointment. I told them 35 minutes was my limit. Maybe the third time will be the charm, and I will actually get to see someone that can help me with my dental issues. Here's hoping. read more

This dental office is a scam, a bunch of crooks! I had never been before, and will never go back! When I scheduled my appointment I told them all I needed was a soft reline of my lower denture. I was told the cost would be around $79. That seemed fair. When I was called back, they tried to do panorama xrays. Why would I need xrays! I declined. Dr. De La Cruz came in and was VERY RUDE! As she was putting my lower denture in my mouth, she was pushing down on my jaw so hard she was hurting my jaw and gum but she would not stop. I finally had to yell at her to stop! She said that tes, they could do a reline but I had to talk to the manager for a price. I said I was already told it would be about $79. I waited for 40 minutes, sitting in a lounge with other disgruntled patients. The manager finally came and I went to her office where she proceeded to tell me the cost of the reline was $365! I told her she was out of her mind! These dentists are monwy hungry and will bait you to get you in then try to bleed all your money from you! I will never recommend this dental practice! read more

This appt was for my husband! Went for the first and last time! Needed something done with the front teeth and was in pain, NOTHING was done with them at all. Instead they wanted to pull 12 teeth and give him full dentures instead of fixing what was there and refitting for partials. The cost - just under $9,000!! Insurance would cover all but something like $2600....no wonder all they want to do is pull them, for that kind of money, so would I!!! Will never return! WOW today was a serious problem that I had with my 1st abstract tooth removed from the 15th, I have pain for a week 2nd tooth I change my mind. They didn't gave me pain meds since I told them I have from my pain management for another condition as neuromuscular disease. Well I went back and ask for my script and they send the med script to another Oneonta at Alabama? Then send another script for ibuprofen which they have records that IM allergic to? THEN refuse to process my TYLENOL with codeine for his procedure, since I was going to have my original refill known for another condition on the 10/31/18, pick up for Dec 3/18? I show them my bottle and being honest hurt me. They would not provide pain meds at least till the 3rd. LEFT ME AGAIN ANOTHER DAY WITH PAIN, knowing I was up for 3 days with off the counter Arthritis Tylenol didn't work. MY PAIN management DR said this is neglect and need to report this issue. Since NOVEMBER IM holding another pain from the second tooth since September due to no oral surgery until another protocol is provided again, with a waiting period of 6 weeks. TODAY I was in at 9:00 am for a topical that came out when I sat in my car at 12:pm? waste of time with NO help. SCARY experience! Animals are treated better.REPORTED TO HIPPA LAW AND Abuse!
