Very unreliable as well as pricey. I've been going to Aspen about 4 yrs now and three times now I received an email and text telling me I need to re-schedule my cleaning appointment the week before. When I call to re-schedule I'm told they can't even find my appointment even though I was getting a reminder in both email and text. They schedule your cleanings 6 months in advance and then somehow lose the appointment as it gets near. When you call they offer a new appointment several more months away. Save yourself the headache and find a more reliable dentist. What good is a dentist you can't get in to see. read more

I broke a molar and needed to find somewhere ASAP to fix/pull. I called Aspen and they said to come right in. An hour later I arrived, was greeted by Kat, and filled out all of my paperwork. A few minutes later I was getting X-rays, and then whisked to the chair. Dr. Shah took a peek and gave a couple options and her opinion on what the best would be. I'm a TERRIBLE teeth grinder and with the case of this tooth and come to find another molar that was broken an extraction was the way to go with plans for a possible partial in the future. Next I met with the office manager when went over the treatment plan, along with cost after insurance. After paying I only had to wait MAYBE an hour where I was back in the chair having 2 molars pulled. Dr. Shah made sure I was completely numb before she started and continued to ask if I'm doing okay. About 45 minutes, a few dissolvable stitches later I was done. Every single person working at Orland I dealt with was amazing. This company promotes being able to perform dental work on the same day as your first consultation. This is only possible though if the specialist is in the office on that day. If the person who performs cleanings is only in once a week, it'd be nice to know that ahead of time. Also, if the person who performs root canals is only in once a month and I say to you over the phone I need a root canal, that should be mentioned over the phone. Not only that, but I was told I couldn't have a root canal performed until I got a deep cleaning. I went somewhere else the next day and had my root canal performed. The roots in my tooth were severely infected and was causing extreme pain. The fact that the first dentist really thought a cleaning was more important is beyond me. I've never been to a dental office that is ran like a car dealership. They come in one by one trying to sell you things and up sell you items that you didn't even think about or in my case didn't come there for. For now on I'm going to be very Leary of places that can see me in an hour of the call, just why are you so available maybe the bad reviews!!! I came in to Aspen for the repair of a second premolor that lost some bonding on the left upper, also a back molor extraction upper right. x-ray exam was takenand Dr. W informed me that the tooth wasnt repairable and needed to be extracted as well, I never had any pain in it prior, it simply had peice of bonding broke loose I assumed it would be saved so not sure what happen there but. He also told me that the tooth behind it also needed a root canal and crown although I wasn't having any pain or prior problems with this tooth I excepted that diagnosis as well reluctantly.Accepted his explanation and had both teeth extracted.During the extraction process, dr. W was extremely aggressive in his manner of removing the teeth,Not taking the time out to rock the tooth slightly as these procedure are supposed to be done until it disengages out of the socket but only to place his tool above the tooth and put extreme negative pressure on it with all his body weight to pop it out instead.I was appalled and frozen and had to tell him to take it easy as he was putting pressure on the tooth in front of it. He said it was fine but a short time after that tooth was aching as well and ultimately broke off just as I had told him and had to have that repaired elsewhere not long after.Anyway at this point 2 teeth were extracted,He then took an impression of the next tooth proceeded to grind that tooth down for a crown,The grinding down of the tooth was so aggressive I had to tell him to take it easy again as large tooth chips were flying all over as I was choking on them and saliva in the chair from the lack of suctioning not because the assistant wasn't doing a good enough job but because he wasn't allowing her enough time to suction properly,I had to stop him, sit up in my chair from the choking episode and get my wits about me, before allowing him to continue. He moved from room to room so quickly I felt like I was on a conveyor line. was such a hurried experience I was dizzy.Never experienced anything like it. But I felt I had no choice but to continue on the processes at this point I was too far into the procedures to back out.I knew I had me made a wrong choice. After this first visit I left to await my crown without a temporary being placed as he said it wasn't necessary but the abutment continue to be sensitive throughout this waiting period especially with no temporary on it. Just as I was expecting my crown to be ready I was informed by phone that my impression was lost and I was to come in to have a new impression, after what I had previously been through I was not shocked at this lack of attention to detail, although I'm not sure how new impression was processed seeing the tooth was already ground down to a nub, but I know I was very disturbed at the fact that I had just waited several weeks without a temporary and the abutment or ground down tooth which ever it's called. The crown finally came in and was placed and seemed too big for my mouth and after trying to adjust it and smooth it down in many different areas it just never felt right and wasnt making it feel right,so I left the office leaving it at that, Hoping that after not too long of a period of time it would adjust.This was back at the end of January and Feb of last year.I continued to have extreme sensitivity to the point of not being able to eat on the large ill fitting crown over the next couple of weeks and developed an infection and had to have an antibiotic called in.I refused further treatment as I was not comfortable returning to Aspen Dental at any of their locations. I proceeded to try to deal with the sensitivity hoping that before long it would reduce but it never did. I spoke with Dr. W and he returned my fee for the procedure, Long story short doesn't suffice, due to Covid and all its Restrictions and other health issues still dealing with the situation and route canal are not recommended only extractions due to the faulty crown prep of this tooth that additionally infected a tooth behind it having to get both these extracted and finding a way to finance it so I could eat on the that side of my mouth I can't believe it's a year later and I'm still dealing with it.Leaving me disgusted n sensitive.Be wary. read more

Inept staff that put me through hell not once but twice and required over 4 hours to do a root canal and crown fitting, and to boot it still wasn't done after all of this. Had to see a specialist. Sent an outstanding bull in which I was told was paid to collections after calling the office about 15 times with no response or follow up. Finally paid it to be done dealing with them. Never again. Aspen Dental Address: 15894 South La Grange Road, Orland Park, IL, 60467 These people are professional looters. Beware of their estimates. While they claim that their estimates are based on customers insurance, they are always off by 30-40%. I don't know how they give out an estimate that is way off. Real case scenario, I had to do two fillings because I chipped my tooth while eating. Without consulting me, they started with an X-ray. The hygienist and the doctor both checked and told me to do a deep tissue cleaning followed by the fillings.I did not have to do deep cleaning but since she's the doctor, I went for it. I was then taken to finance department where a lady provided me an estimate based on my insurance. Since i didn't know any options, I believed them and went ahead with all suggested procedures. After three weeks, came insurance bill that was way off than what was estimated. They did not cover my X-ray and the anti-bacterial medicine given to heal the wounds because apparently, according to the insurance, these deep cleaning wounds heals itself and does not require antibodies and would not cover the expense because the medicine was given on the same day as the procedure without waiting for the gums to heal naturally. How does the practice not know about this? There were nine of these meds costing $87 each. According to the estimate, the insurance was supposed to cover $56 but they covered $0. Now, I'm stuck with all of these payments over $1000. The estimate was completely off. Neither insurance nor Aspen dental contact each other, they just send you the bill and you would need to figure all these out. LONG STORY SHORT, always call your insurance and get pre-authorization before performing any procedures or else Aspen dental will suck you dry. Oh ya and also, your financial stuff will be handled by office administration trainee and not even professionals. Why would they care about the clients? I would not recommend Aspen Dental to anyone. I was charged $ 3800. for various dental work Aspen made 2 partials as well. Aspen refuses to honor their guarantee ! Partials do not feel right...can not eat with them, they are hard to insert & remove. Adjustments have not helped. I did not choose this dental practice - my husband and I are on a medicare supplement and Aspen Dental is the only dentist they allow. I called their general number (a call center - there is no direct number to this location) and spoke to an agent, who made an appointment for my husband and I on Sat Dec 17 at 1:15 and 2pm (we have to go together as I am disabled). I gave the person at the call center my insurance info and was ASSURED that that they accept our medicare supplement. I asked for info about the dentist and was told this practice has 5 dentists (I later found out they only have 1 dentist). We both received a separate email that our appointments were scheduled (on the proper date and times) and another email confirming our appointments for this date and time. Today we got a voice mail from Aspen changing my husband's appointment (nothing about my appointment). I finally got thru to this location and spoke to Jen (Office Manager) who had no record of any appt for me. Jen DID fit us in both together for my husband's appt time, but when I asked her to confirm they accepted our insurance - it turns out THEY DO NOT! So we wasted a LOT OF TIME going around in circles with Aspen Dental. I don't know how good the dentist is, because due to their inefficiency, we NEVER EVEN GOT IN TO SEE THE DENTIST. read more

They are not a good dentist office. I had my front tooth cap on it and they did not explain the procedure. They made temporary tooth that keep falling out and took two weeks to get the one they made and when I received it it was yellow. They never apologized and didn't offer me anything for the inconveniences. I have walking around covering my mouth for a week because of this. It had been a couple of years since I had been to a dentist. I decided to remedy that. I checked with my dental insurance and found out that I was covered at Aspen. Made an appointment online and they called me when an earlier one opened up and I took it. I waited a little while before seeing someone. I expect that in a medical setting (you never know when the professional will find something else and need to take the time to explain it to you). They x-rayed me and examined me. I did not feel that they were shaking their fingers at me for my previous lack of care. We set up a plan of treatment. Thankfully I do have insurance so, while not inexpensive, it was not as bad as it could have been. I look forward to working with the very professional staff to get my mouth in much better shape. My wife has been going to Aspen Dental, Orland Park, Il for a couple visits. So far it has cost us about $2200. After the visit a couple weeks ago, the assistant told her the next visit would be to put on a cap, she should bring $260 to cover her portion. She even printed it out what she needed to pay. Today, we drove 20 miles for the cap, another lady said, today you need to pay $1300 for this visit. Hold up!! Last visit the lady said bring $260. They did not know why the other person told her that. My wife offered to pay the $260 and pay the rest on the next visit in a couple weeks. Aspen said no. Had Aspen told us to bring $1300 for this visit, no problem. It was a waste of time and gas to drive all that way and told a different story. We are not complaining about the cost, just not happy with the mix up. Aspen could have done the cap, we would have paid the balance on the next visit. read more

I can't speak to Aspen's quality as a dental facility. I suppose they are as good as any. But they have the absolutely worst business practices I've ever come across. At my first visit I was told that I needed very expensive work. We whittled the scope down to just under $1000. I paid the cost of my service on that day. After my initial treatment visit the dental hygienist told me that I needed to return for a follow-up in a month. No talk of additional charges. The visit lasted less than a half-hour. I returned for the follow-up which also lasted less than a half-hour. After that visit I started receiving bills for nearly $200. I have called three times and visited the office once to try to get this bill forgiven. There is no way that the service I have received should have cost so much. Aspen has refused to forgive this bill. If you value your money don't go to Aspen Dental. I am submitting my story to the State Attorney General for relief. read more

Made appointment after seeing positive commercials on tv. Only needed an adjustment on my upper denture and possibly have a new one made. First x-rays were taken by a tech that didn't bother with any greeting or even a smile. Stupid me. I never asked why they were needed for a denture adjustment. Just figured it was procedure for new patients. Then was directed to go into exam room where a hygenist proceded to lecture me on how bad my bottom teeth were. I have them cleaned routinely at another facility. They have not mentioned that the teeth were going to kill me like she did. I kept asking about cost but she would not give that info. Then I was left alone for 30 minutes in the uncomfortable exam chair waiting for the dentist that never showed up! BEWARE the office has no idea what they are doing. The dentist was GREAT. They say a price at the time of visit and then send you a bill for more. I brought my minor children in for a 6 month exam and cleaning. I was told a price when we arrived and I paid it, we do not have dental insurance so that should have been it. 3 weeks later l get a bill in the mail saying I owe more then I paid on the day of the appointment. I tried calling to ask what this bill was about and got told I would be called back. 6 phone calls (I had to call they do not call back) with 3 explanations on what the extra charges are for. One explanation is my daughter needed a full set x-rays, she got them 6 months earlier for the $19 new patient special. If a extra service was need they should ask the parent, not do x-rays then expect payment , I did not have a extra $180 to expectantly spend on a second set of x-rays in 6 months on a mouth with NO cavities . The other is we had a previous balance, one filling was done and I paid what I was told at the time of service. I paid the bill , still do not know what it was for but we will not be back.
