I used to go to Aspen Dental on one of their free offers for a cleaning and found they have light whitening, so I purchased it. Really nice, one & done. Since then, I switched over to Integrative Dental Solutions in Peawaukee, but they offer only tray whitening, so I wanted to go back to Aspen for another light whitening. It seems their hygeinists are finding my teeth have higher numbers for gum recession, so they want to do an "advanced cleaning" before the whitening. Their advanced cleaning is $1500 and they don't have laser, which is intermediary to their "advanced cleaning" for recession. I've already had 2 exams in April 2026; one w/ Dr. Heil in Oshkosh & a free one at IDS since I already had one at Dr. Heil. I spent about an hour with the scheduler discussing all of that, he said to send documentation of my cleaning at IDS and that should be ok along with another exam from Aspen per the dentist. I sent everything email. However, when I called to verify this, the woman this time said I would need another exam & if they find the numbers of recession, an advanced cleaning would be necessary or they won't do the whitening. This has been an ongoing conversation, but they do not consider me an established patient since it is now a few days past their rules and won't accept cleaning documentation from other dentists for the whitening after all. I would have found out all of this at check in!! I just had a cleaning & exam at IDS & sent Aspen the documentation! Not only that, they previously billed my insurance for a panaramic ex-ray they never gave me! They won't remove that billing from my insurance, so for the remainder of 5 yrs my insurance covers, I have to pay out of pocket for one. How many other patients have they done this to? Aspen Dental is the only dentist saying I need a $1500 cleaning before I can purchase their whitening. Spent hours of my valuable time to schedule a whitening appointment for nothing, and they billed for a pan exray I never had! Do better! read more

This place is a complete scam. They had me there for OVER 2 HOURS only to do an exam and no cleaning. They didn't even mention me getting a cleaning at any point. All I was going to need was "scaling and root planing" (which I'm now hearing they just tell everyone they need), a filling, a root canal and a crown. Somehow even after insurance (I have Delta, great coverage) they said it would be over $2,600. They then pushed me to apply for financing. After I told them twice I did not want to do that, the man asked if he took a couple things off if I would want to apply for financing still. So basically admitting they're putting unnecessary expenses on my bill. The assistant was nice, but kept complaining the whole time that she wants to quit her job. That's REAL comforting to hear while having people work on your mouth!!! The front desk lady seemed very nice, but came in by the assistant and I to gossip about another patient for like 5 minutes during the appointment. As to which the dental assistant responded with "I'm just gonna quit my job. That's what I'm going to do". The last hour of the appointment was some guy sitting me down in an office while they "ran my insurance" (I was there for over an hour by this time, why wasn't that done??). That last hour I was there and sitting in the office with that man, it felt like I was at a car dealership. So bizarre. He was asking me all sorts of personal questions and it honestly made me super uncomfortable. Also, as previously mentioned, tried to sell me on all sorts of stuff that I didn't need. Pushing financing on people at their first dentist visit is shady behavior. No wonder Aspen Dental is involved in a huge lawsuit. They also tried to push me to give them a 5 star review. I'm assuming they're paying/pushing people to leave good reviews. This was overall an absolutely pathetic dental experience. I had to take time off work, waste over 2 hours (and one of my free exams for the year) and got absolutely nothing out of it. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I'm going to have to agree with the other reviewers. It is a HUGE mistake coming here especially if you're new. First off no one knows how to do things at front desk but Carrie. They talk about plans and how you need to contact your insurance 24/7 to approve any appointments. The rest you have to pay for asap. Don't matter if it was just a cleaning! NOTE: THEY WILL SEND YOU TO COLLECTIONS WITHOUT TELLING YOU! Promise you that you are best off going somewhere else. The only thing this dentist office is concerned about is getting paid. They wanted to be paid up front before the work was done. But when they over charged me for the procedure by 301.00 because the job wasn't as difficult as they thought it would be, they took two week to return the money to me. Then when they billed my insurance company they used codes that my insurance company wouldn't cover. When my insurance agent gave them different code numbers to use that would be covered, they wouldn't use them. I ended up paying the amount my insurance would have covered had they used the provided codes. I thought the dentist was a gently and understanding person, but because of the money and insurance issues I will not be going back. read more

I recently had major dental work done at Aspen Dental Oshkosh. It takes weeks to get in for emergency and follow up visits. The dentist lacks empathy, a bedside manner, and has questionable ethics. I was experiencing an extremely painful toothache. I contacted Aspen Dental. They had me come in first thing the next morning. I wasn't a patient before this so for them to see me so quickly was fantastic. I was treated so nicely. The Dr. immediately saw the problem and fixed it. He couldn't have been any nicer. I had a tooth extracted on a Saturday morning. I'm generally not a fan of the dentist, but Dr. Schultz is one of the best in my book! The procedure was painless and he was done before I new it! Very friendly people, they get to know you personally after a couple of visits. They explain the process of what they're doing today to put you at ease. I personally went here after a good number of years of not taking care of my teeth and was thinking that my teeth were getting yanked. My dentist, Sidney, let me know that my teeth would need some work, but we can reverse it! What a load off my chest to hear that! We have an agenda of work that needs to be done. Aspen dental in Oshkosh cannot figure out billing insurance. Nice people but every simple visit has resulted in issues with insurance even after the co pay and list of what is our responsibility has been paid. Again and again we get a bill afterwards that our filling cost more or wasn't covered etc. I have never experienced this issue anywhere else and have had the same insurance forever. Have called multiple times to resolve and no one ever is there due to covid which I understand. Finally got someone a few weeks ago from another office who said "don't worry about it". We will note this in your file, rebill the insurance correctly and follow up with you, which they didn't. Today I got a letter from a collection agency...really? Sad to say this was the last straw and our family will go elsewhere. While it's not a ton of money...it is ridiculous to do their insurance work for them and call and call again and again. read more
