Horrible experience from beginning to end of the process for my dentures. Overestimated out of pocket costs when I had primary and secondary insurance. Made us finance money that we didn't have to, interest charges and a hit on our credit as a result. My wife had terrible tooth pain for 4 days and after 2 urgent care visits and 1 other dentist. Aspen dental was able to pinpoint the issue with their CT scan imaging of the mouth. The nurses were extremely gentle and comforting and the dentist was efficient. We had an extraction and bone graft done within the hour and the tooth ache went away. I had a cleaning scheduled in August that Aspen Dental in Kingston cancelled because the hygienist was out sick. This place is a total scam. I called with a dental emergency. I needed an oral surgeon ASAP. I had my xrays ready and a referral from my dentist. I just needed a tooth extraction. I was told it would be $250 to have my tooth pulled and because I was a first time patient that I wouldn't be charged for their XRays and checkup. When I got there they asked for my credit card. I said "This is $250 for the extraction right? If the tooth isn't pulled I'll get reimbursed?" They said "We'll check you out first and make sure". I stupidly assumed that meant they would hold charging my card till they were 100% sure they could remove the tooth in office. I got my XRays and checkup. The doctor could not remove the tooth. They referred me elsewhere. I went to the front and said "The tooth wasn't removed. So I assume you didn't charge me the $250? They said "We charged you for the XRays and check up." I said "I was told the checkup and XRays were free and the extraction was $250." Then I got some BS tale about their answering service giving out false info that doesn't apply to all locations. I said "I asked about this specific location". They then called up the receptionist who answered my call and she lied. There's no other way to put that. She lied and said she told me the visit would be $250 NOT the extraction. They were not remorseful. They didn't take me into another room and speak privately. They did all this to me in front of all the other patients. I specifically went there with my own xrays and a referral. I was told a surgeon would see me. I walked out of there in pain with XRays I didn't need and no apology. The woman even said "This happens all the time. It's a misunderstanding." Yes. A misunderstanding that cost me $250, pain and humiliation. If you have a dental emergency pay the extra money and go to a real office for help. Don't let places like this con you out of your money. This was obviously NOT a mistake. They intentionally mislead me to make money. Like the woman says "This happens all the time." Needing immediate dental services, I lucked out in coming upon Aspen Dental Group in Poughkeepsie. I needed quick attention and even quicker action. First, Debra, who is one of the account reps, worked hard on my behalf to get me in for a first appointment with Dr. Bakeer. Dr. Bakeer way exceeded my expectations and had a full workup completed on me at the first appointment. She was thorough, professional, extremely competent, detailed, and very personable. She explained everything to me and sought my input every step of the way. Her experience, training, and knowledge provided me with a treatment plan that was implemented the very next day. Within a few days I was back for a follow up appointment with Dr. Prince Dhillon, a magnificent dental surgeon who mirrored such tremendous competence that I realized in a short period of time that he, too, is a remarkably adept surgeon - one I will follow up with for additional work in the near future. Then, there is the amazingly proficient Debra, account representative previously mentioned. She made it all happen. She coordinated with my insurance company, provided times and days for appointments, revealed her compassion and wonderful transparency in communicating her understanding and significant empathy for my dental needs. She also brings her sense of humor to brighten up what would otherwise result in a trungent and painful experience under normal circumstances and allowed me to realize that the entire group of professionals at Aspen in Poughkeepsie is able to provide a very positive answer to the impending implosion of my dental condition thereby resulting in a pleasant experience of confidence building from their interest in my dental needs to their incredible and obviously orchestrated treatment of those same needs to the point of perfectly satisfactory resolution. Dental treatment can be expensive, yes. But the adage of "You get what you pay for" is as true as it gets. Yet even the rate structure at Aspen Poughkeepsie is far less than bloated and overwrought. You can consider yourself fortunate if you come across any of the individuals here named and the others who do wonderful work starting with the kind ladies who you encounter at the front desk when first entering. In March of 2022, a tooth of mine broke off that was situated behind and supporting a veneer. I made an appointment at Aspen Dental on Baldwin in Lake Orion to build the tooth back up to support the veneer, so that the veneer would not break off. The dentist proceeded to work on my tooth and I went home afterwards and looked at it in the mirror. To my horror, the dentist did not build up the tooth at all. He instead had ground the tip of the veneer off to make it level with the broken tooth behind it. I called the office later that week to tell them what had happened. The receptionist said that she would talk to the dentist and that I would receive a reply back soon. I never heard a word. A few days ago, I recounted this story to the customer service person at the office. She then scheduled an appointment for me to come in on 08-10-2022 at 12:00 noon, to have the tooth fixed. She told me it would have to be with the same dentist who had ground my tooth down in the first place. (This didn't seem to make sense. I had actually hoped to get this issue remedied at another Aspen Dental center, because I felt uneasy going back to the same place where the dentist indiscriminately shaved off the end of my tooth. Yet, this is the Aspen Dental Way... I showed up at the 12:00 noon appointment early. I signed in, sat in the waiting room until my appointed time, then was called back into a room with a dentist's chair at 12:00. A hygienist came in and said the dentist would be with me shortly. I sat in the chair for what seemed like forever and overheard a conversation that "the dentist who had ground my tooth off was not in the office today" and something to the effect that "if this veneer wasn't installed in our office, it is not under our warranty." I also overheard that the dentist who would now be working on my tooth was a new dentist with just one week at the Aspen Dental office. So, I waited in the chair. The minutes ticked by. I am writing this review mainly because I saw advertisements on YouTube saying what a "wonderful experience" he had with this company. It brought back my feelings of anger and frustration with this place. So i wanted to share my horrible experience with this company. I went to this place a couple of years ago thinking that it was an honest and legit business. In the end I have come to realize that all they want is your money. They don't give a crap about service, treating the patient with kindness and gentleness like the many dentist I have experienced in the past and have now. First of all, on my first appointment i was told that I may have Gum Disease and that I will need to make appointments to get the treatment for it. I didn't even get a basic cleaning done on the first or second appointment. Second, I had to pay several hundred dollars to see a horribly rude dental specialist for less than 3 minutes to tell me I had to have a root canal. I felt like i was just a number and not a patient at all. After that second appointment I left the office so frustrated and feeling I was being ripped off. I made an appointment with a trusted Dentist. He told me that I don't have Gum Disease and he didn't charge me an extra several hundred dollars to tell me I needed a root canal. Absolutely horrible experience with a specific hygienist who nicked my lip with one of the dental tools and then looked at me while my lip was bleeding saying that she didn't do it, and she didn't apologize at all. Which they wanted me to pay a month in advance finally got it done a month later was in severe pain and went back multiple time and all she did was give me ibuprofen and antibiotics nothing helped and now I have to get three root canals done. DH had a prediagnosed cracked tooth and root canal at our regular dentist, but over the Presidents Day Weekend he felt the tooth disintegrate more. So he made an appt at Aspen Dental in Poughkeepsie as they had emergency hours and his dentist was on vacation. Office was clean, ladies at the desk were nice enough. Bathroom is available and clean. TV in waiting room. Kinda chilly in the waiting area. Appt was for first thing when they opened at 8a. He didn't get called back to a room until 8:30. He came out around 11a saying because he wasn't a patient he had to have xrays and a 3D scan- although he just had everything done at his dentists. Ok no matter, what did they do with the tooth? He said they are going to pull it (what I internally yelled? Over 3 hours and they haven't even addressed the issue yet?)Waited another 15 minutes and he was once again put into a room and almost immediately given a shot to numb his mouth. And left in that room waiting for the dentist for an hour (no exaggeration) He texted me several times saying he's concerned because he can tell the shot is wearing off. I spoke to the girls at the desk. And one lady went back and filled him in that it would be another 15 minutes until the Dr. gets to him. 25 minutes later doctor went in. He had another Doctors appt in a different city at 1:30 and would never would have dreamt it would take this long so it had to be cancelled. Ridiculous wait. Literally 5 hours in the office for something that should've taken 1/2 hr to complete. Awful time mgmt. by this office/doctor. I won't even leave a rating - my appointment was for 8am this morning. I walked in the door right at 8am and there were a few people in the waiting room. After 30 minutes of sitting around waiting I got up and was seriously thinking about walking out the door but didn't and asked the front desk what was going on and the reason for the delay. They said they would check and let me know. The girl said that they would be out in a minute - no explanation and no apologies for the delay. My time is just as valuable as anyone else's but this is totally unacceptable. I'm glad that I didn't schedule anything around this appointment because it was a long wait. Not sure if I would recommend this practice to anyone who asks me about my experience. This is one of the worst dentists in the world and I want everyone to know about it so that you won't get scammed. I chipped my front tooth about 2 yrs ago and was desparate to fix ASAP. I was looking for a nearby office and the ones where they take my insurance. So I found this dental office and I liked the fact they do free full mouth xray on the first visit. The lady who took xray was very nice we talked about my college life and her son who is also a college student. Then i was lead to doctor's office and she was very young and pretty seemed nice. Then she told me that I have 4 cavities and I need to have them treated. so she sent me to a receptionist to make next appointment. The receptionist gave me a piece of paper stating that I have 4 cavities and how much it will cost to fix them....$500 with insurance!! without insurance? over $1000!!! She told me that one of them is completely covered black and really bad....but she never told me or marked on the piece of paper she gave me which teeth had cavities. Thank god I was not stupid enough to take their word. I told them my schedule is not sure so I have to see about next schedule and walked out. I obviously did not have any cavities....matter fact they were super clean when I visited different dentist to fix my front tooth. This place is a scam. My fiancé called and asked about getting a tooth extracted after seeing her dentist and getting a referral and asked bluntly "Can I get the tooth extracted on this visit and was told to come in. My fiancee explained that the insurance she had did not cover this and was reassured to come in, the first visit is free for new customers. After driving over an hour to get to this location my fiancee asked why she was being charged over $200, was this for the tooth extraction and if not will she be refunded the money if they don't do the extraction. The receptionist said they had to look at her first and sent her back for more X-rays she didn't need then told her they couldn't do the extraction and that their oral surgeon wouldn't be in the office again till later this month. In short my fiancee was screwed over, made to get unnecessarily X-rays and was lied to from the start promised one thing then charged for something not asked for. Their receptionist lied about what was said to the manager and they blamed the misunderstanding on their call center and said" This happens all the time". I guess this really wasn't in short but the unprofessionalism on display was appalling and my fiancee who has social anxiety had to do all this in front of a office full of people and not in private in an office or a more secluded area. Went in because of a toothache, Aspen offers "free" first appt and evaluation. But read the fine print that only if you get a COMPLETE exam. If you go for one issue they bill you for it. Worst part of it all is they did one xray and said I need a root canal, as I am sitting in the chair almost in tears from the pain, they said please sched. that at the desk. Which then meant that I had to wait for an appointment, almost 2 weeks. After they told me of the work that needed to be done (which was over 2,000 all based on ONE xray not a complete exam). I decided NOT to return. But they still billed Dental First for the appointment and work that was never preformed, as they have refunded some of this, there are still xtras that I have to pay. I had a bad experience. It's funny because even though I have been there 10 times I don't know the dentist's name. There is nothing with her name anywhere and I kept my ears open for someone to address her but to no avail. The dentist has a warm and professional demeanor but was unable to fix my filling. She did not have the skill. She tried 4 times. She recommended a silver filling.I had to go elsewhere to have a porcelain filling done. It was not for lack of trying and it was a large filling but she should have known it needed another application and not put the tooth through all the trauma of trying 4 times! She even gave me antibiotics, which I unnecessarily took! The pain was obviously not from an infection but simply because the filling wasn't sealed- easily discernible from the ex ray. The front staff is nice. The office is unbelievably cold. The hygienist is pretty gruff but the rest of the staff is very nice. Wait times are very long. My daughter tried to make an appointment for a tooth cleaning and they refused to set it up unless she went for another exam. In my opinion this place is awful. My poor mother had her front tooth chip while she was eating and she just wanted a dentist to take a look at it and see what her option were. Should be easy enough right? Aspen wants new patients to have complete full xrays done, even if you have one specific issue you are coming in with. Reminds me of the free oil change places, yeah bring your car in for a "free" change then you get hit with all kinds of issues that need to be fixed immediately or else you will surely face certain doom. My mother was treated very roughly and unkindly by a dental assistant who we found out from another employee there that it was her first day on the job (yeah not surprised). She practically shoved the camera down my moms throat and my mom was in severe pain so my mother ran out of the office crying. I went in to talk to the manager. First asked if all this was neccessarry and if she could just get an x-ray of the issue area and my mom could just see he dentist but that was absolutely out of the question. I then asked them if they could use a smaller camera since my mom has a small mouth and very sensitive gums along with other issues. The manager said they would but of course when I brought my mom back in a new assistant took her into a room where she was unable to find the smaller x ray cam. Apparently they are not too organized here. After slamming through cabinet after cabinet she picked up the same one that hurt my mother and tried to use that on her again so my mom yet again left and this time we did not come back. So what did we do next? We called a very nice local dentist who has his own practice who was willing to see my mom. We went to his office, the staff were pleasant, my mother was actually able to speak to the dentist about her tooth unlike Aspen who refused to even let her see a dentist till the full series of unnecessary mouth x-rays were done. This dentist informed us my mother did not need a full set of dental mouth xray's(which of course we knew, that was Aspens first step to a money grab) so only the issue area was x-rayed. Not only that but my mother was able to use the adult camera just fine there. The dental assistant wasnt rough like the one at Aspen and my mother did just great. So here I am thinking that it was my mother as to why the x-rays possibly wasnt going well but nope it was just the assistant at Aspen who was making it difficult. Anyways now my mothers tooth is as a good as new. I know Aspen acts as though it is a cheap easy convenient option but in my honest opinion people are better off finding a dentist with a local practice. These dentist just do not see you as cattle to make money off of, they actually care. A one star is too generous. The great reviews was what left me to book my first appointment. I arrived five minutes early to my appointment to just sit for 29 minutes to be told that unfortunately due to their X rays not working they couldn't see me today and if I wanted to reschedule for another day. Had anyone of the ladies at the reception area bother to greet me, look up towards me or even looked at the waiting area, I would have rescheduled. But when I brought up the lack of attention or even a courtesy call earlier to reschedule, they only responded with a bad attitude that they were extremely busy. Meanwhile prior I had left my busy work flow to arrive to my appointment. Don't go to this dentist if you put the truth on your surveys. I was referred to this doctor and she is petty. The office manager was rude to me for asking why I would be responsible for a payment they hadn't submitted to my secondary insurance. She began to be disrespectful, and becaus the whole office was mad that I filled out a survey saying the temporary crown that was put in my mouth was stained and I wasn't happy with it. The office manager and another woman called me and said it's just a temporary one I don't see what the problem is because your permanent one won't be like that. The dentist as she was putting in my permanent crown , she had an attitude and the crown didn't fit so she drilled my tooth without numbing it. She yells across to her assistant while working in my mouth super unprofessional. And to top it all off , so my complaint can't be escalated to their boss the doctor dismisses me from the practice so nothing can be done. The ladies in there are very nice. As for the waiting. Its extremely rediculous. Every time you go there its over 2 hours and all wait time.

Terrible customer service. I had a panic attack because the person was not qualified to do XRAYS. They jammed the XRAY thing in my mouth so badly I gagged on it. Which caused the panic attack. There solution for that was to put me in a room and close the door on me alone. No one came into until I went out to get someone. Then I couldn't finish the appointment and I came back to only be told I need thousands of dollars worth of work which I didn't need. Then as I was leaving I asked if I owed anything and they said no only to come home to a 80.00 bill which I only have 2 days to pay. DON'T GO THERE. FIND ANOTHER DENTIST!! read more

I have been a patient at Poughkeepsie Aspen Dental since 2008. Their office staff is warm yet professional. The hygienist is fantastic. I have had several dentists there, none to complain about but now I see Dr. Staus. She is superb. I moved 45 minutes away and still travel to Poughkeepsie because the care there is wonderful. Dr. Staus is intuitive and saved me from being severely ill by noticing an odd sore on my forehead. She sent me straight to the pharmacy for antibiotics. When I saw my primary the next day, she said Dr. Staus had saved me from a very painful and quick moving infection that might have landed me in the hospital if untreated for another 24 hours. Aspen of Poughkeepsie will be my dentist as long as I live in the Hudson Valley. read more

I can't give zero stars as the hygienist was a lovely person and did a great job with my cleaning and zoom whitening. However, I could write a book about the negative experience I have endured...Everything from screwed up appointment times, to poor communication, cost, poor customer service, pain, expense, long waits, and an experience with their oral surgeon that nightmares are made of. I am missing teeth now, and running to a new dental office where I can, hopefully, regain dental health. Do your homework before you go to any dental office! read more

I went in for a "free" exam and x-rays in March 2017 and received a bill for $153 in March 2018. I called to inquire and they stated that since I had insurance it was not free for me. I then called my insurance to see if I could be reimbursed but my insurance could only cover a small portion. The dentist and staff were actually very nice and helpful until I reached the billing department at the end of the appointment and they start quoting me for over one thousand dollars worth of work that would be almost entirely covered anywhere else. This company only cares about money. Find a place that actually cares about your teeth. read more

Absolutely the worst - front dest woman snapping her gum and yelling at people, myself included. Went in for a chipped tooth because my dentist was on vacation. They started a whole treatment plan. Just wanted a temporary cap for a few days. Awful when the dentist you see clearly doesn't take care of their own teeth. They just want your money. Steer clear and get to a REAL dentist. This after an hour and a half wait in the reception area and then another in 1/2 hour in the chair. Awful Awful place. read more
