Computer/scheduling system has been "down" since I made my appointment a month and a half before this posting. I get it, it happens. Still down when we came in today. I scheduled an appointment for an exam and cleaning. My teeth are in good condition, and I get regular check ups, just wanted a new place. Went in, had a very thorough set of x-rays, herded to an exam room. Room not very private, was with another adjoining room, and I could hear everything. got a very thorough exam, but the hygienist was rough, much more so than she needed to be. Was told to go sit in the waiting room, they would come out and let me know a treatment plan, then I would have to come back to schedule a cleaning. So I wasted an hour plus of my time in the office, plus 45 minutes drive time each way, and still didn't get done what I needed to do. Now to see what damage they will do billing insurance. The front desk staff is friendly and courteous and the dentists seem to know what they're doing. That said, I had one of the roughest, bloodiest cleanings in my life! And I use a sonicare and see a dentist every 6 months. I was shaken. It also took 40 minutes to have my X-rays done since I was a guinea pig for a dental assistant trainee who zapped me an estimated 20+ times and said it's normal for X-rays to be painful. It was awful. The dentist recommended 2 small fillings between two of my back teeth, even though only one cavity was visible and previous dentists had been keeping an eye on it. I had the filling appointment today and when I went back it was a different dentist and he said I was scheduled for 2 fillings, not on adjacent teeth. I told him that wasn't what I was expecting and he looked over my xrays and agreed there was a mistake. I ended up getting 1 filling. The dentist was skilled and professional but I will not be back to this office. Instruments that my dentist requested during my procedure were not available and a tool was not working properly but they had to make due with it. I felt like I was at a bottom of the barrel dentist office. I guess this is what I should expect from a national chain? Last but not least I was surprised by the estimated fees other than my copay. Aspen dentist is in my insurance ppo network and fillings are covered 100%. That is why I chose this office. Last week I requested the dental office submit a service estimate to my insurer and my insurer provided an estimate that stated I would only owe the deductible. Aspen dental still coerced me into signing paperwork stating I would pay the additional fees if my insurance didn't cover the charges. This was done before I saw the dentist and my procedure changed. I will have to call my insurance company tomorrow to see if they still billed for 2 fillings because this office is a shit show. read more

Trash! Second Aspen Dental i've been to. The first was awful. Horrible, painful experience and didn't go back to a dentist for 5 years as a result. I have a dental emergency at the moment and called to schedule an emergency appointment. The woman scheduling me was wonderful and clearly working off site. The workers here are awful and I was only interacting with them for a few moments. The women on the phone said "bring your insurance with you" and the receptionist says to me while checking me in "it might be a wait cause we were trying to get your insurance information and you didn't answer your phone" I've had my phone and didn't get a single call. I'm in severe pain and I'm not going to fuck around in an EMERGENCY APPOINTMENT ID RATHER GO BACK TO THE ER! read more

Im writing this review on behalf of my wife. She was scheduled for her routine dental cleaning and exam on 3/30 in the morning. She was told to arrive 15-30 minutes early to fill out paperwork. She found a babysitter for the kids (I was working), arrived early. The paperwork took 5 minutes tops. She waited for almost an hour before being seen, although she had an early appointment. She did get xrays done rather quickly, and they returned her to the room to be seen by the dentists. She waited TWO (2) HOURS and finally got up and said that she had to go get her kids and be to work. They admitted that they forgot about her. I can understand not being seen right at the appointment time, but to forget about a patient in a room in straight up negligent. Unfortunately, there is no making this situation right, and I would strongly urge to look elsewhere. Avoid the long wait, especially if they forget about you. read more

The worst dentist I have ever been to. They don't care about you or your teeth, just about their money. First, I thought it was really weird that the last time I went in for an exam (a few months ago), they tried to charge me $100+ for items that I didn't need. At first, they wouldn't tell me what it was for, just the exam. It wasn't until I pressed them further, insisting that I shouldn't have had anything to pay at all (my exam was covered by insurance), that they finally told me that it was for a bunch of unnecessary junk that I neither asked for nor needed. I hadn't even had the exam yet either, they were just looking to get a few more dollars out of me. I had 14 fillings done in the span of just a couple of weeks last fall. At the exam mentioned above, it was brought up that a few of them would need to be redone, as they weren't done properly the first time. Due to pregnancy, it was determined that I would have to wait until the baby's born in order to get this done, which is fine - I understand the risks and can wait. However, I called this morning to see if I could have a dentist look at my teeth. One of the fillings, on the same side as all the fillings that need to be redone, feels as though it's coming out of my tooth. It's very rough and it's rubbing my tongue raw. I am in constant pain. When I brought this up to the receptionist, she said they could do an exam to determine the cause and then fix it, but it would be $78 for the exam alone since I had one earlier this year. That doesn't include treatment. When I explained that this problem is occurring because of the filling itself - a filling that they did not do properly - she said that there was nothing she could do. I would have to come in and pay the exam fee. Needless to say, I'm furious. Not only did they do shoddy work the first time (I have also been in once or twice to correct a couple of other fillings as well) and admit to having to redo several, they're also looking to DOUBLE DIP and charge me a second time for their mistakes. Come to find out, there's stuff all over the internet about how awful Aspen Dental is. They're known to deceive and mislead their patients. I wish I'd looked them up before going there. If I could give zero stars I would. I had a crown done in June 2017 that had fallen off twice. The second time being this year right before Easter, I decided to get a second opinion from another dentist office. After x-rays and examining me the new dentist determined that the filling was left in the crown which should never be done. Then she also determined the cement used to bond to the filling should have not been used and does in fact not bond properly. My crown was done wrong every step of the way and this dentist office refuse to take responsibility and admit it. After three weeks of constant calls they are finally releasing my dental records. They won't issue a refund, they won't admit it was a bad job and they won't take any responsibility. Worst dental office in downriver. NEVER GO HERE read more

Upon arrive I was told that my exam and cleaning would be free as a first time patient, only to then be charged $135 for a cleaning. I have braces and was instructed by the doctors that I would need to have my braces removed in order to get my teeth cleaned. The assistants/receptionists were short, dry, and rude. Place was spotless even the bathroom. Everyone was so nice. Dr Tinsley professional soft spoken and very kind. I don't have dental insurance so I wasn't able to get the repairs i needed to my dentures. If I had insurance I would definitely use Aspen and Dr Tinsley. read more

I have been a patient at multiple dentists all over the U.S. and this was my worst experience of all. Generally office staff is unfriendly, The billing is horrid (they overcharged me $400, didn't inform me of my "credit" for over 6 months and then when I requested a refund for the over payment they tried to hold it hostage to be used toward future visits... it took over a month and multiple calls to the office and the corporate office to finally get my refund... after I was told it was processed on three occasions the forth time it finally went through. In addition the hygienist is kind of a "Debbie Downer" and both times I went in for cleanings she talked about her family problems (stopping working while talking). In addition I was repeatedly harassed to buy a $300 dollar electric toothbrush (3 times in my first visit, and then after declining they tried to bill it on my invoice anyway). I caught the charge and had to ask again to get it removed and declined the offer. Upon my next visit they again hounded me to buy the $300 dollar toothbrush to which I again stated I didn't want it (they kept pushing it a few more times during the visit). The cleaning was average at best. The reason for the 1 star I did give is for the actual dentist at this location. SHE is friendly and was a pleasure to deal with (she should move to another company and office).The minor patch she did perform looked great, but only lasted a couple of months and it fell out. The equipment seemed to be "up to date" and modern also. I cancelled all future appointments and am going to a different dentist (note: I have been a loyal to my past 3 dentists for years and was very happy with them, the only reason I came here is due to relocation). They treat you like you are a deadbeat that won't pay your bills (I have a credit score of 820, and have never missed a heath care payment in 44 years), they want all money upfront, overcharge you and push products that you don't need or that you decline (repeatedly). The dentist that owns this place is amazing. He is here on Wednesdays and he is SO knowledgable and nice and super caring. He is very honest and tells you everything straight up. And I love that they don't try to rip you off here. I've been to a lot of dentists all over California, Nevada and Arizona and none of them compare to this doctor! He is so wonderful! read more

Be sure to get second opinions. I was told I needed $1900 out of pocket worth of work done. Saw a new dentist went in for a consult to see if they said the same thing, the only thing they stated is that I had 2 old fillings that I would probably want to replace sooner than later. They asked why I was coming for a consult, told them a new dentist I was seeing told me: heavy teeth grinder, 4 caps needed, 2 cavities and night guard. The 2nd opinion dr looked shocked! Said, no sign of grinding, no cavities and they did do xrays, and the crowns, she said she didn't see that need at all! So be careful. I felt like I was in seeing sales people instead of of seeing a dentist. It seemed very odd that in one year time I needed ALL this work done. I have always kept up with my appts. This place sux, and not in a good way! Watch what paperwork you sign here, or you could end up in collection, and have your good credit rating threatened like I did. They seem to know all the loop holes here. Had a crown come off, they claimed I needed a new one, and kept the old gold on too (their rules)... I paid my part of the bill, and left fat and happy. Seems the loose crown was less then 5 years old, (unbeknownst to me, as I have more crowns then whole teeth anymore, and even if I did know it was "new", who knew that insurance doesn't cover "new" crowns loosening) well they know ... which is why you sign all that paperwork before any work is done. They don't care how old the crown is because if you sign the ppr/wk you agree to pay what the insurance company won't. (Win/Win for them... There is some great customer service huh)? Which in my case was an additional $200 + dollars. My wife tried to negotiate with them for a lower price, as I'm unemployed, to no avail. So to keep out of collection we were forced to pay it off. If I hadn't learned to listen to my wife over the years I would have been gone there and paid the bill in penny's, while I shared my story with all the patrons in the lobby! Seen the advertisement on TV I called made an appointment for an annual cleaning waited 2 weeks for my appointment went to the appointment waited 20 minutes in the waiting room was then taken to a closet-sized room for x-rays then proceeded to another tiny room where I set 20 minutes waiting for a dentist to come see me. Only to tell me the issues that were wrong and needed to be fixed prior to having a cleaning done. Of course they said I needed a root canal and Crown so $500 later two different locations to complete the process to finally make the cleaning appointment, which for some reason they insist takes two visits two weeks apart and pretty insistent that I buy a $300 Oral-B toothbrush (NOT). So its 6 months later I have a large filling that falls out, I call and ask for an emergency appointment to get this filling replaced, I'm told that they are booked they can't get me in for 2 weeks try calling Livonia, called Livonia they say "no sorry we're booked we can't get you in for 2 weeks either" I have a huge hole in my mouth and they don't seem to think that that is an emergency they seemed to get me in immediately for that root canal that they wanted to put in my mouth. Needless to say I've taking my business elsewhere they are rude when I call to speak with the office manager, about getting an emergency appointment, (since I couldn't get anywhere with the receptionist) the office manager never called me back. please beware!!! this place is a fraud. billed me 4 years after i last was there, called and kylenne(office manager) said she would call me back several times with no return call. gave me info that after 2 years insurance companies destroy paper work and she could not look this info up although they want to collect payment of a 4 year old bill, to which they never sent me. credit agency sent me a bill in august 2018. they are very rude and unorganized business. They have also been caught charging me for a future cleaning while charging me the current cleaning I was in office for. Up until a year ago I would have given positive reviews. This past year saw a general staff turnover and a sharp decline in customer service. Today after my appointment was moved from a week ago, I had asked for a block for a cleaning and my needed fillings. Mind you that I had taken time off work for the original appointment as well as todays. Now I go, they tell me that they refunded my credit (which they hadn't, I checked and am now disputing), and that the second part of my appointment was not scheduled and wouldn't be able to be rescheduled until tomorrow. Their logic was that it was over six months ago based on the fact that my appointment was moved so it was a week past my six-month checkup so new xrays would be required. Two days taken off, a trip to Warren to take my son to his sitter and nothing done. This is horrendous. Especially since we payed almpst 10 grand for my husband's dentures there. Not a happy customer, nor will my family be returning. read more
