I've had to get extensive work in four teeth and Dr. Coombs and Bri have been doing awesome work. The care and quality of their practice is the best I've had in a dental chair. Bri and Dr. Coombs make a great team. They were very attentive if I was feeling any pain or discomfort during my extractions and root canal. Dr. Coombs let me know what my options were when I came in with severe tooth pain and was very quick and precise to take that pain away. Well did not fuss over the healing dentures which is basically plastic slapped over your raw gums. I work with pubic and needed teeth. However after spending what I have, I was horrified to out that it was another 900 to try and get them fitted correctly. I have not been able to really eat solid food in 2years. read more

They messed up on two of my grandsons crowns,He had to go in multiple times to get his teeth (crowns) fixed, changing appointment times without notice to patient. Things that were covered by insurance that had a prior authorization did the work to my teeth then hounded me for payment then turned me into collection agency. Said that my other grandson's dental work part of it wasn't covered and I just found out that it absolutely is covered. Just got a call from aspen dental saying that my grandsons and I have been dismissed from aspen. They try and get money from the patient and I feel that they are getting money from the insurance as well. I WOULD AVOID ASPEN DENTAL IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE TO DEAL WITH. I've had very bad experiences at dentist my whole life. lots of anxiety and so I had some issues that needed attention. I went in for my initial appointment and was so surprised at the care and compassion that the staff had. they gave me breaks during the exam and gave me all the options that would help me. I opted for full dentures and implants on my lowers. I usually need full sedation for any work but the doctors assured me that I could do it with Valium and the numbing that they would do. they were right. I didn't feel a thing. the only thing that was bad was the injection of numbing into the roof of my mouth. I left with temporary dentures while my mouth healed. I went back and got my sutures out and an adjustment 10 days later. I have a great smile now and it cost me a fraction of what other dentist quote me. read more

Made an appointment for my son for 10am but because we didnt confirm it via a phone call, thought i confirned it when i made the appointment, he is now a walk in and and we jave been waiting for over an hour. Now they dont tell you this when you make the appointment either. I will be moving my family to another dental office. If he didn't need to be here today we would be gone. read more

Top dollar for sub par results. I wasted a lot of money here for Invisalign. We asked about getting his wisdom teeth extracted first. Were told it wasn't necessary. Then when the results were no good we were told it was due to overcrowding. My whole family is not going back ever again. read more

I'm staying with my friend right now because he wanted me to try out the area to see if I liked it. Anyway, he tells me about aspen dental and how he took his son in there for some dental work. All that seemed ok, But when he paid the bill instead of them paying the bill for when he took his child in they paid off his ex-wifes visit because it was for the same child... My friend is a bit to nice so he says fine what ever and does a payment plan to take care of the rest even though they basically stole his money. Despite being on a payment plan they just sent him a letter threatening to send him to collections if he didn't pay the balance. He's been on the payment plan for over 4 months without issue. Basically Aspen Dental stole money from a disabled military vet to give to his ex-wife justifying it through a minor then harassing him when he decided to not fight it... I notice there AD boasts a 5 star rating from a place you can't rate them. Sleaziest most dishonest dental company I've ever even heard of. Never Ever go to a place this dishonest for anything because the best case scenario is you don't have a problem, but the worst case scenario is you lose EVERYTHING. read more

If I could give a half star I would. My appt. Was at 9:30 I sat in the chair for 40 minutes before anyone saw me only for them to tell me they either need to refer me to a specialist or pull it. I told them I need it pulled since I don't have insurance. I go and speak with the office manager about what needs to be done. I ended up paying $400. And still owe $525 the day of my appt to get my tooth pulled. I felt taken advantage of and not very important due to the fact that I dont have dental insurance. EDIT/UPDATE: I called the patient satisfaction line yesterday and spoke with Dawn. She informed me that to further assist me, she would call me back after speaking with the office team. It's been over 24 hours since I last spoke to her with no return phone call. This place seems to be the biggest scam of a dental office I've ever seen! I can't believe Aspen Dental or at least this office hasn't been shut down by LARA. I will be filing multiple complaints and possibly be looking into filing some claims of fraud. This is the absolute worst medical experience I've ever experienced, and I've spent over 8 hours in traverse city ER before. I scheduled to have my wisdom teeth extracted over a month ago and they said it would cover everything except $89.00. Multiple times the woman on the phone confirmed I would only have to pay an amount under $100.00. Four days before I was scheduled I received a check-in phone call going over procedures. I managed to ask how much cash I would need to bring to my appointment and the guy on the phone said $519.00!!! I was livid and seeing as though it was a weekend I could do nothing about it. Turns out that Aspen had dropped the ball and did not file a treatment plan with my insurance until days before my surgery, and then when I confronted them they lied multiple time saying my extractions were covered when my dental insurance clearly stated that they weren't going to be. It wouldn't have been so bad, but I have a rare form of arthritis that I have to inject a biological for every 14 days. I am now 2 weeks without it and one week without ibuprofen for the surgery that was supposed to happen tomorrow. When I called Aspen upset, crying, and in pain they were less than comforting. It appears as though their plan is to trick people into thinking there will be coverage and then surprise them with a bill after surgery. I'd rather have my teeth be messed up than ever go back to the worst excuse for a dentists office in the entire area!! read more

I changed to Aspen Dental for two reasons. One they are the only Dental company my insurance covers in my area (and I signed up for this coverage this year). Two I'm a veteran and Aspen Dental advertised free dental care for veterans. Well all I needed was a cleaning and after going through their cattle herding experience I had to pay $121.00 out of pocket. Then two months later I received a bill for $293.00! Needless to say I'm going back to my dentist and won't be paying for a dental plan next year! My review doesn't give any stars. read more

This was the only dental place my husbands insurance took as "In Network" so we made an appointment there to replace an broken set of dentures. $2,500 later, and every visit demanding more and Aspen holding the dentures hostage.... He still doesn't have a pair that fits properly. The dentist would never see him again to ensure they fit properly. Don't walk away from this place... RUN!!!! read more

Extremely satisfied. I'm from Grand Rapids, and I go to the Aspen Dental in Grand Rapids. I had a root canal, and a temporary crown put on last week and left for vacation this week. On my way to Traverse City, my temporary crown came off. I stopped in, unannounced, and laid out my predicament. Initially it looked like they wouldn't be able to squeeze me in anywhere, but then one of the nurses(?) came out from the back, looked at her schedule, and said "I've got 5 minutes, let's knock this out!" She was awesome. Very friendly and walked me through everything. After was all said and done, she sent me on my way with 2 packets of the cement with instructions on how to use it, just in case it happened again. I wish I could remember her name. The whole staff that I interacted with was very friendly, but she went above and beyond expectations, and I greatly appreciated that. read more

Multiple dates beginning November 2021 through 01/12/2022, presently. Presented for dental services, beginning with initial consult. Consult did not occur, was provided first-time patient services. First-time patient services included the billing of my insurance to cover the cost of x-rays and the examination. Provider unable to provide any additional services for patient through the billing of patients insurer. Patient now cannot utilize insurance to cover the cost of x-ray and dental exams for 1 year, but cannot proceed to receive services through Aspen Dental due to the medical providers limitations on staff and ability to provide service. Medical provider additionally unable make requests to insurer properly, seemingly due to poor training or other staff issue. Patient now has self-paid for other dental office to cover cost of X-rays and initial exam that would have been covered under patients insurer. Aspen dental as medical provider is engaging in unethical use and billing of insurers due to minimal or no ability to provide continued service that is the purpose of initial service. Aspen refuses to release medical records when requested to patient, and multiple requests have been made while providing multiple mediums through which the provider might produce the requested records. Denial of medical record release has been documented in writing. read more

I was told I had 5 cavities after an X-ray, I asked to see the X-ray and I couldn't see what they were talking about. I went to a new dentist for a second opinion (and also a more organized, personable office). They retook xrays (because Aspen would not send them the ones they just did there even though they said they would the 3 different times I asked them to). The xrays the new office took showed ZERO cavities. This is not okay, tell all your friends. read more

I went here because my husband did. I already knew they weren't THE place to go, but my husband had a good experience so I figured I would too. Well, I went in for an overall check up and cleaning. I never got it done. They went on and on about how I'm a great candidate for invisalign and if I dont get it my teeth with be full of cavities and break and fall out of my head. I've never been told I needed anything ever. So this was shocking. They pretty much acted like I was going to do it. They kept going on and on about it. Then it took them 15 minutes to get my insurance pulled up and kept saying itll be just a few minutes more and I will get to talk to the manager. It also took like 5 different people coming in and out to talk to me. Apparently I have gingivitis too..so I needed a special cleaning for that. Anyway at this point I'm thinking something is wrong. Finally, I get to talk to the manager and he tells me all that needs done. Rambles off the cost, and asks when do I wanna start. I tell him I cant afford this. I need to focus on my cavities..not on something to straighten my already straight teeth. He kept saying I better do it or I'm gonna have a world of problems. They even have you watch a scare tactic video, which my husband did succumb too so now I see how he ended up with invisalign. Anyway, I say again I cant afford it and I cant wrap my head around 6k worth of work. So I left and called someone else the next day. Found out my teeth are great, just cavities. I dont need invisalign and I dont need a gingivitis cleaning. Found out also that the Rep for Invisalign couldnt believe that Aspen sells about 20 Invisaligns a month!!! I called them today to cancel all of my future appointments that I had set up and pre-paid for and get a refund. I went yesterday to get some routine fillings re-filled after having them done several years ago at a different office. The dentist cracked my tooth because he must have used too large of a filling for that tooth or maybe drilled in the wrong direction, but regardless, he cracked my tooth, they even have the x-rays to show that my tooth was not cracked in any way prior to this. The office manager told me that the expense of now having to get a crown (which my insurance doesn't cover- therefore would double the total for all of my services combined) is MY expense. I explained to her that I shouldn't have to pay for this as my tooth wasn't cracked prior to their dentist cracking it, and she just said "well sometimes these things happen and we can't prevent it. The dentist didn't mean to." I never said he "meant to." But regardless of meaning to, he did. And it wasn't my fault so I shouldn't be responsible for paying out of pocket for their mistake. I will be finding a new dentist office who accepts my insurance to finish my dental work to prevent further injury to my teeth as I don't trust them to work on my teeth again even if they had decided to comp. the services. On a side note, when the dentist was drilling this filling, the assistant looked at him and said, "uh oh." They gave each other a look but waited to explain to me that my "tooth was cracked." Rather than admitting that HE cracked my tooth. Very unprofessional and I will be spreading the word around my office and to everyone I know. If I could rate less than a one I would! read more

I have indeed experienced better. They do indeed seem t o be only interested in the money. My teeth are no better off than they were before I went in after no dentist for 7 years. They extracted several teeth and put in numerous fillings. My teeth do not meet on one side after they installed a crown. On the other side they removed 3 molars. No crown. No nothing. Now I can not chew food on that side of my mouth and the other side does not meet. I am totally dissatisfied. This is after $12,000 worth of work (ins + my share). McDentistry. If you enjoy being herded around like cattle, then this is for you. The only reason we visited here was because our dental insurance changed and this was "in plan" (read below for more about this). Someone leads you into a room, a different person does x-rays, someone else does this, someone does that, someone else sets you up in front of a monitor where you watch a "scare tactic" video on how you should spend $100 to have an oral cancer screening. None of these people were found to be personable in the least--just clinical and cold, until finally you're supposed to be in with "The Dentist". With your head spinning from the whirlwind of people you've already encountered, you think you might sit back and have a convo with The Dentist. Nope! In comes the hygienist (who was only 1 of 2 personable people in all the mix). He seemed more like The Dentist--talked and listened--the best part of the visit. In comes The Dentist--some Russian lady--again, very cold--who told me to "open pliz", barely glanced in my mouth and barked "diz needz crown" to yet another person behind her who apparently recorded everything The Dentist said. All in all, I was told I needed 4 crowns. Whaaa....??? Then I was rounded up to talk to The Financial Lady (the other decent person), who discussed an in-depth type of payment plan. Back home, spouse and I realized that the whole business left us very unsettled. Hey, we're still working age, not retired, still have lots of business dealings, but this all just felt WRONG. I called my old dentist, who we had been with for over 20 years, whose office cheerfully gave me pricing info on crowns, etc., which was THE SAME from a financial standpoint. "In-plan" meant nothing apparently. I had a visit with him and the hygienist, and needed just 2 crowns. Done. Easy. Comfortable. Another story is that spouse succumbed to the oral cancer screening. Of course, they found a "questionable area" and had him wait a MONTH for "The Guy" (don't know what or who this was, but they didn't do this themselves) to come to town so he could hack away a spot on spouses tongue. Spouse came home with 2 stitches and a sore tongue. Stitches fell out 1/2 hour later and the tongue bled profusely. Spouse called Aspen who said "don't worry about it". That was 2 years ago (results benign), and to this day, spouse has numbness and some soreness on that spot. I highly advise STAYING AWAY from this place and find a good local office who will care about you. read more

As I write this review I'm sensing a theme here from the other reviews. STAY AWAY FROM ASPEN DENTAL IN T.C.. My wife and I went in in May of 2016. She to have a partial repaired and I to have an implant finished. She had her work done first and we paid our share of the bill. They said they needed 60% before the work would be done and the remainder at completion. We paid. They did the repair and wife has been back three times for "adjustment". While there in May I set up appointment for November to finish my implant (that's when I would have my share of cost after insurance. My bill would be $747, insurance would be $1100. I expected to pay 60% at first visit for "impressions" and remainder at completion. Get a call a week before November appointment asking if I could pay the whole bill before coming in? I asked why would you wait five months and then ask me something like that. Person said sorry but implant is non-returnable to lab and Aspen would be stuck with device if I didn't want. I asked why wouldn't I want it and am not in habit of paying for service not rendered yet. Person said, "Oh, just come on in. We'll take care of it." I arrive at 8:00 on a Monday (first snow storm of the season with our local school closing school). I'm first to arrive and wait to be ushered in. Other people start coming in and are being called in ahead of me. Finally, I'm called to the counter and a person states, "Sorry, but UPS hasn't delivered your device yet and so we can't begin as scheduled. Can you wait "til 10:00 to see if it shows?" I remind him that my appointment was made in May, surely 5 months was adequate "shipping time. I asked why wasn't I called Friday, or Thursday and told the device wasn't there? Why did I have to drive in this weather when they knew nothing could be done. I know the real reason the device wasn't there. This K-Mart outfit lost out on $1800 because the franchise owner doesn't want to pay a decent wage for qualified individuals to conduct a business. FIND A DENTIST IN YOUR TOWN and keep him in business as long as he provides the care you expect. read more

Okay. My boyfriend went here a couple times. The last time, I went with him. He had gone to the ER because his mouth hurt him terribly about a week before his appointment. So, we go in. We're waiting about 15 minutes after his scheduled appointment. I ask to go back with him, to which the nurse said "according to the HIPA laws, we can't say yes or no." She sits us in a room, and then about five minutes later, she comes in to take an X-ray. About ten minutes after that, the "Dentist" comes in, looks in his mouth for about five seconds, says she X-rayed the wrong spot, and leaves to continue work on another patient. About five minutes after that, she takes a new X-ray, the dentist comes back, glances for about five seconds at the X ray, and says to yank the tooth. How in the world can you determine the best course of action when you didn't even look at him? The ER doctor at 3am did a more thorough exam! So, we go to check out, and they didn't even know what to schedule him for!! Needless to say, that was literally the worst experience I've ever had at any company, let alone one responsible for someone's health. But wait!!! It gets better!!! I was telling a coworker about our terrible experience, and lo! The managers wife happened to overhear us! Instead of being mortified that her husband let someone be treated horrifically, she said she was pissed that I dared "trash talk", and THEN SHE TEXTED HER HUSBAND AND ASKED ABOUT THE PROCEDURE. To which he, of course, decided it was an excellent idea to tell her all about it!!! "But I don't know anything because of the HIPA laws". You can't just say "HIPA" at me and it makes it not illegal what your husband just did. So terribly unprofessional and illegal to boot! So, long story short, if you don't want to be treated like shit in and out of your dental office, DO NOT go here. I repeat. DO NOT GO HERE. read more
