NOTE: Negative Google reviews (after a review request is generated by Aspen) will NOT post; it's happened to me twice. It explains why this business has excellent reviews on Google. Smh. I absolutely adore Dr. Sunny (5 stars!), but there are too many issues w/ the support staff for me to continue patronizing this location. Months ago I had spoken w/ the doc and another staffer about scheduling a Deep Cleaning ($650+ if no insurance or $177 w/ my insurance). I was ASSURED I could get the procedure minus any "needles." I was insistent NO NEEDLES. A few weeks ago, I phoned to schedule an appointment. I advised the rep on the phone that I wanted "a Deep Cleaning w/ NO NEEDLES." I even told her the dentist had said I could have the cleaning performed that way. Apparently, my demand was not heard. Today I reported to the office, reclined in the chair, & was almost immediately made aware that I had to have "a needle." The hygienist said "only one" & I wouldn't feel a thing. I reluctantly agreed to one, which apparently meant one PER section! (There could have been a language barrier, but who knows.) Once there & in the chair after 1 injection, walking out was not an option for me. But apparently my mouth has 5 sections 'cause 5 injections were received, w/ 3 not being much fun. It's OK. I relectantly agreed to them & I survived them, but shame on the support staffer who failed to note in my file that I was to receive NO injections. Unfortunately, there were other issues. During one injection, the novacaine ran down my gums and into my throat-- a first for me. Nasty stuff. On four occasions, A LOT of water ran down my neck & inside my hoodie. Once water was sprayed into my face, & another time it went up into my nose. At one point, I began to gag because too much water had run down the back of my throat; we had to pause. I felt unnecessary pain today. IMMEDIATELY after three injections in the lower front gums, the hygienist began scraping my teeth at & under the gum line. He didn't wait for the novacaine to take effect! O-U-C-H! I commented on waiting, but it fell on deaf ears. The top gums were already numb (& not fully cleaned), which is where he should have been working until my bottom gums became numb. Who makes that kind of mistake? After all the scraping had been completed, I soon worried as something needle-like made its way into my mouth. Thankfully, it was a syringe that contained mouthwash & an antibiotic, but it would have been nice to know what to expect. Communication is king:) The WORST part of today's experience was the hygienist's technique. Never before have I had a hygienist move his/her hands WILDLY back & forth inside my mouth while scraping my teeth w/ an instrument. At times it was a FRENZY! It should have been put to a very loud Beethoven's Symphony! Honestly, I've never known any dental worker to handle an instrument that way! I kept waiting for it to slip & damage my gums or cheeks. It was bizarre. Just bizarre. The hygienist was VERY NICE, & even filled a goody bag of teeth cleaning supplies for me to take home. It pains me to write a negative review, but NO deep cleaning (or any cleaning) should be performed so crazily (& messy)! As someone who fears the entire dental profession (but who forces herself to go), this recent experience does nothing to relieve my fears. I cannot return. There have been too many issues that are simply unacceptable. However, if you decide you want to schedule an appointment, I highly suggest you schedule one for the actual dentist. And double or triple check billing/pricing w/ the support staff prior to the procedure. Aspen, it has been nice at times, strange one time (today), & disorganized too many times. I called another Aspen office to get pre op instructions for sedation surgery for implant since none came from my chosen office. this week I get a call at 8:45 to cancel my 11am sedation surgery, unless I want to go forward w a local anesthetic. I was promised a call back from the office manager, Brittany. I have had many phone calls from Brittany when we were working out financials. now that the money is covered, I get no response. They were able to get me in for emergency exam same day. And I even was given the option to sit "standby" while they did their best to get me treated and back to my vacation. I had a denture made for my bottom teeth. The dentist removed my bottom teeth and placed the dentures in right after. The whole procedure took about an hour and a half (waiting on novacaine to kick in two different times is added in the total time). The dentist and his assistant were extremely professional while being concerned for my welfare at all times. I went the next morning for the follow up visit, which went well also. I cannot say enough good things about this office!!! Dr. Sunny is the most compassionate and caring dentist I have ever seen and his staff equally so!!! My elderly mother (who is wheelchair bound and a Hospice patient) had to have seven bad teeth removed and new dentures made. She is terrified of dental work and has severe anxiety. Dr. Sunny and his staff have loved on her every step of the way and she has become so comfortable going there, I believe she actually looks forward to her appointments!!! We went to this dentist office to become new patients. Our first visit and exam was fine, but after that we had problems with receiving phone calls back to schedule our cleaning. Then when we finally got in touch with them they didn't set up our insurance correctly in their system and were going to over charge us. I made an appointment at Aspen Dental in Zephyrhills on September 23 for new dentures. The office made it a point of telling me they have an onsite lab and their dentures take only days. When I went into the office and had an impression taken and paid them half their money, I find out that they have only one tab tech and he is in the hospital. Because of this. I did not get my dentures completed until October 23rd. They told me to contact them when I needed an adjustment which I did two days later. I am told I can't get an appointment until November 4th, which is over a week. The woman I spoke with was the office manager and she did not try to fit my in even after I told her there was a defect in the denture ( an indentation that should not be there that was rubbing against my gums). With the money I paid them I expect better service than this. Paid just short of $3,000. read more

At first, they were very cordial, professional and super friendly... we negotiated a price for the removal of six top front teeth and the making of an immediate denture to wear while my gums healed and then a permanent appliance. Well I had my E-day (extractions) and was given a temp denture.. and after a few adjustments it fit rather well...but it has to be re adjusted every month or so as you heal. Making an appointment is not so easy, especially if you ask to be fit in.. the answer is NO WAY. No Bueno cause when your gums are rubbed raw.. well.. I can only wish it on them. I finally get in a week or so later and they "Reline" my temp denture with a product that tastes and smells like a Revell model I used to make as a kid. Needless to say I was not able to wear my temp for the last four months of my healing process. The day comes to take an Impression for my permanent denture .. and honestly I felt like I got the bums rush... and the proof was in the pudding when they delivered my permanent denture, it did not fit Dr. D seemed a little miffed as though it was my fault.. he did make a few adjustments,,, and said OK if you need anything call us.. but remember we can't just fit you in... I was in business for over thirty years...and if one of my clients needed some special attention, I made sure they got it... even if I had to stay late or open on a Sunday. I was walking out of the office.. and I saw the Office manager.. she asked how everything went and I gave her the thumbs down sign.. and then flipped the bird... I explained it was not directed towards her.. just towards my ENTIRE experience at ASPEN Dental. Needless to say as this transpired, Dr. D walked into the area where the office manager was sitting and saw what I did.. LOL.. He said you are not happy.. and I said NO I'm not... so reluctantly he said come back and sit down.. I tried to explain to him the expression,, "Here's your hat what's your hurry" MY uncle Jack RIP used to say that to company when he wanted them to leave on a Sunday night. Any way Doc tried to make a few more adjustments.. I had to have him polish down the underside of the palate cause it was sanding down my tongue. He did that and I left a second time. (I still cant eat with these & they rub like crazy after a few hours of wearing them) Thank God for the need to wear a mask so People can't tell I'm sans teeth. During the course of my treatment I found out that my United Healthcare Ins. had a Dental Discount program, http://www.dentegra.com/UnitedHealthcare , When I mentioned it to the Office manager, I first got .. OH.. I never heard of that.. so I directed her to the web site and showed that their practice was enrolled. It took about a month of back and forth to get a $250.00 discount. According to the plan and a rep I spoke to, the discount is approx. 38-40% my entire bill was over $2000.00 Do the math... is about $798.00 .. Now I am thinking about invoking their Money Back Guarantee.. "If you are not happy with your dentures we will refund the full price paid" and go to another office where the people shoot straight and there is no BS.. or do I continue to give them a chance to make good? It's that time of year where we are supposed to turn the other cheek, and forgive them Father for they no not what they do? I had heard a lot of bad things about Aspen Dental in general. My insurance recommended them and I am glad they did! From the moment I walked in the receptionist was friendly and so kind! The dental assistant,Hailey was absolutely wonderful. My hygienist, Jamie was also wonderful and so knowledgeable. She answered every question I had. She made me feel at ease. I waited until my final appointment to write this review so that I would have all the facts. I knew after the first tear-filled appointment (seriously) where the dentist soothed my fears that this was the place for me. So you'll know I have experience at this office, here is what I had done over 6 appointments. - 1 New patient exam including x-rays - 1 wisdom tooth extraction - 1 deep under gum cleaning - 6 fillings (shut up) I hadn't been to a dentist in an obscene amount of time and was completely terrified before the initial visit. Everyone on the staff was super nice and put me at ease. The x-rays are painless and the techs explained everything they were checking during the initial exam. When they told me about the gum cleaning there were a few tears but Dr. Phelps made me feel like a was not a total loser and even joked around until I laughed too. Every visit since then they remember my name, make sure my mouth is all good and numb before poking or drilling, compliment my outfits, answer all my questions and keep late hours so I don't have to take time off work. I tend to book the latest appointment possible though and the office did need to reschedule twice but called me ahead of time. After meeting the staff though I know they try really hard to see everyone who needs their services. My husband went here today after I made the appointment over the phone and was told that his new patient visit was free and that to get a tooth pulled would be around$145 . We go there and he sees the dentist who checked his teeth and said that he would be able to remove the tooth today. My husband was sent to talk to the billing person who told him that it was now going to cost him over $1000 to have his teeth cleaned and to have that 1 tooth removed and did he want to finance the treatment( Mind you prices are listed on their site) My husband told her that he didn't want the cleaning at this time and just the 1 tooth pulled as he discussed with the dentist( who said he could get it done today) The woman then told him well then you cannot get your tooth pulled today. The way I see it is she was trying to rip us off and when we wouldn't let that happen then we couldn't get the treatment that was agreed upon. BEWARE STAY CLEAR!!! She also needed two root canals and two crowns. EE Got two other opinions and they both said she doesn't have periodontal disease and she only needed one root canal and crown. Awful wait time, customer service, RAN MY CREDIT WITHOUT ASKING ME, and a total rip off! I went in because I needed a new dentist inside my dental plan and my wisdom tooth was hurting me. I have never had a dental problem or cavity *knocks on wood* in my 28 years of life. I was told all 4 of my wisdom teeth "absolutely had to come out". I advised them only one was giving me issues and I wasn't in a position to have all 4 pulled at once. The tech looked at me and said "oh sweety if it's a money issue we can help with that!" I was a little appalled that the first thing she thought was I had an issue with money. I told her it wasn't a money problem and I had started a new job and I didn't want to miss days of work because of the procedure. I again said I only wanted the one taken care of. The tech said she didn't think they could do that and brought the doctor in. The doctor also said I needed all 4 out. When I asked why he said "well that's how everyone does it. Everyone gets all their wisdom teeth out at the same time". I explained, again, that I started a new job and it wasn't feasible for me to miss a few days of work. After him pressing the issue more I finally said I wanted the one pulled or I'm going somewhere else. The doctor then said it was fine to pull the one tooth and sent me to a women who does billing. The women advised me they had a credit system and if I was approved I could put my dental work on the credit and just pay it off in installments. I asked what the APR was for the line of credit and she looked at me dumbfounded. She dug around her desk and found a brochure that said it was over 20%. I told her no way (I also have dental insurance). She says "Oh well... I already ran your credit and you're approved". I'm sorry what? You ran my credit without me giving permission!? So I ignore her and ask when I can get the procedure done and ask for a statement of cost. The statement she gives me is for all 4 wisdom teeth and it was almost $900. I told her the doctor agreed with me to only take the one tooth out. She then says that's not what the doctor told her and I needed all 4 out. At that point I got up and walked out. On top of this nightmare my appointment was at 9am. I arrived at 8:45 and the receptionist told me the doctor was running late because of an emergency surgery. At 10:45 I asked how much longer it would be. She said he was tied up with emergency surgery and it shouldn't be too much longer. At almost noon I asked to be rescheduled for another time because I had already waited almost 3 hours (people were also being taken ahead of me as I waited). The receptionist, who is very annoyed at me at this point, said I could reschedule but it would have to be at least six weeks out because they were "booked". I didn't want to wait 6 weeks because I was in pain and that is the only reason why I waited. Oh and just for fun my husband called them to schedule a new patient appointment to see what would happen, and they gave him an appointment the very next week. read more

Run, don't walk, out the door! I moved to the Zephyrhills area from South Florida and needed to find a new dentist. I have always had regular check ups and cleanings with no problems noted. At the initial visit, I had x-rays, followed by a tech coming in and checking the gaps between teeth and gums. All readings were 1s,2s, and 3s with the exception of one tooth that she read as a 4. She then marks that I have moderate periodontal disease. Not quite sure what this was based on since everything has always been fine. The dentist then comes in. She tells me that I need to go through a three visit process of complete deep cleaning, doing one side of my mouth first, then the other, then a follow up. After that, I must come in every three months. WHAT?!?!?!? I asked her how is that possible since I have never had an indication from another dentist that there was any issue. She informed me they must not have known what they were doing. All of the dental charts show having a tooth/gum gap of 1-3 is good, 4-5 is pay closer attention to these areas, and above 6 is an indication of periodontal disease. How does one tooth in the 4 range warrant such an extensive service requirement? I asked for a print out of the expected costs ($2,600) and the very first item listed was an electric toothbrush for $149.00 No one ever mentioned an electric toothbrush. Along with this, I already have one and have used it for years! I told them I wasn't interested in the plan they laid out and just wanted to schedule an appointment for a regular cleaning and they refused. They said they would not do anything other than what they had laid out. Guess I'll keep looking for a reputable dentist in the area. As a side note, my husband had scheduled an appointment which happens to be tomorrow. I called to cancel as he is not interested in going there based on my experience. I went here with an understanding that I am terrified of Dentists. I did the usual painful x rays and discussed several things. A cleaning, done well from an awesome hygienist. I had to have a two tooth denture made and fillings on my front. I paid everything up front, mistake 1. I had the fillings done and walked out with a brand spanking new 1/2 inch gap between my teeth. An hour of severe anxiety, pain, and instead of a nice smile, I walk away looking like Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber! I got used to it because I simply cannot go through the procedure again-- they offered! I'll take the giant gap. On to the Two tooth denture. They take the impression and order the denture. They make the appointment for me to come back. I call the day of the appointment and am told the denture is 100% definitely there. I take off work early, drive all the way there, and no denture. They make another appointment and then change the time without even telling me. I call the day before and they tell me my appointment is later. I have to cancel. On the day of the appointment I get a call from them and am asked in a not so nice way-- "are just not coming back?" I said I was. I try to make another appointment online-- my username and password don't work. My account number doesn't exist. I've been deleted. They got my money. My nerves are shot, and I'm now done. I'm out 400 bucks and need to call the insurance company to find out what to do next. read more

Don't bother, save your time and money. I went for an abscess tooth and the x-Ray was broken. Got an exam by a hygienist and then a dentist came and told me I needed an extraction. Was then directed to an assistant office manager. She was slow, snarley, and preoccupied. She said I needed a cleaning, extraction,follow up and a $149.00 tooth brush. I am an employee for Pasco County schools and my insurance covers 100% yearly check up X-rays ; Exam; and cleaning. I was told by the office manger I had to pay over $200 for my cleaning. Worst experience ever and that was without a cleaning! New to area, my mom needed to see a dentist for regular cleaning. She is an 85 yo woman and it was made clear she needed assistance and I was coming on her behalf. It was impossible to fill out paperwork ahead of time. Something I requested to do so she wouldn't have to wait as long. I explained it is difficult for her to be out. I even contacted general support to try and get paperwork done. After filling out paperwork and going back for exam/cleaning, my mom was told they would need her primary Dr to sign off on cleaning before they could give her a cleaning. In her 85 years, she has never had to do that! When I asked if they could please try and get approval since she was already at office and seated in dental chair they said they would but they were all headed to lunch... They apparently expected my mom to sit in chair and wait while they had lunch. Very disappointed with the group and the support team. read more

I scheduled an emergency appointment with this office, clearly explained that my insurance does not cover treatment with the provider but since it was the earliest appointment I found I informed the office that I was willing to pay for it out-of-pocket to urgently re-cement fallen tooth cap, since its absence not only is dangerous for the integrity of the tooth but is also causing cuts to the tongue. I took an unscheduled occurrence from work, which counts as an occurrence out of very few allowed before receiving warnings in addition to hurting my employee record, so I could go to the appointment. After one hour of waiting time I was called in for x-rays. Before consenting to the x-rays I informed the technician that I was there to specifically re-cement the tooth cap; fortunately the x-ray professional clarified before exposing me to the radiation that they would schedule a new appointment for whatever work had to be done after evaluating the x-rays. Their practice/procedure was never explained to me when I scheduled the appointment even though I was extremely clear on my emergency need for a specific action from the dentist. I will never go back to this office because of the disrespect they had for me. I hadn't been to dentist for years. I had a infected tooth that needed to be extracted. I was so relieved to get that thing out of their. I had thought of having my 7 remaining teeth on bottom pulled and a plate made. The dentist explained my remaining teeth could be cleaned, filled etc. Then I could get a parcel. So all said and done I have a new upper plate, one root canal, bottom parcel plate. Cleaning and whitening. After 30 years I have full set of teeth, a great smile, The staff at Aspen Dental can't be beat. A great group of professionals. Very caring, polite. I agree with Lisa S. Recently, I had my teeth cleaned which is supposed to be a deep cleaning so said by the manager. Again, I asked the dental tech and she said its a perio cleaning. I feel like I was taken advantage and was charged $200. The service that I received was nothing but a regular cleaning that I had from other offices. Not a very happy patient! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. They are rude.. Just that plain and simple. I was given a quote of 643 to have 2 teeth removed by their oral surgeon who wouldn't be in office for 6 weeks from the date I went so I had to wait of drive to another office. So I called after I had left because I had additional questions ( that I couldn't get answered bc the women who was "helping" me was talking to other office personal and taking multiple phone calls) after being on hold from a long amount of time when I rang back thru witch it does about ever 2 minutes I asked if she could get the information and call me back. After 3 weeks that never happened i called again several times and either could no longer wait on hold or the person on the other end was very clueless and rude. So now I have wasted 6 weeks of time and still have tooth that needs to be removed. Their prices are outrageous. And to boot they are rude and impatient with people. I am now working on finding a new dentist hopefully a place that does at least pretend to care about the people who are intrusting them with their care. read more

Seemed very nice and professional at first.Then they took money and went downhill from there.Scheduled cleaning at 8 am=fine.Scheduled for root canal at 9 am.=not fine.Told sorry someone else is scheduled and we cannot do two people at once,sit in waiting room.I had scheduled time off from work and did allow for their incompetence as i had an appointment myself.Also they fleeced insurance and myself over 1000.00 for exam and cleaning and still cannot talk to each other that i am not coming back,even after talking to manager.Never again read more

My mother is 87 years old and had dentures made at Aspen Dental. She has six teeth remaining on the lower front. Her treatment plan recommended a deep cleaning every 4 months. The charge for this treatment is $369.00, now remember she only has 6 teeth. Lets do the math, the is $1107.00 per year. Each session is costing 62.00 per tooth. Mom is on a limited fixed income which does not allow for these high expenses. I called to schedule her for a regular cleaning, which her insurance will pay for. I was told they could not schedule her for this as it was not the treatment the dentist recommended. I explained that the funds were not there for that treatment. They again refused to schedule her and recommended I find another dentist. Keep in mind she had already spend over $5000.00 on dentures at Aspen Dental. It is very disappointing that Aspen Dental was so quick to dismiss her as a patient when the money ran out. So if you are a senior citizen on a limit income do not go to Aspen Dental. It is all about the money. read more
