I asked for information about their self-pay rates and she struggled to even understand what that meant, then proceeded to tell me that the cleaning fee would be determined after the dentist did the initial visit which is very strange and not standard. I have been going to Smile Design Dentistry in Dade City for many years. I have had cleanings, fillings, and even a partial bridge made there, all without any real pain or discomfort. I used to be very wary of going to a dentist because of pain associated with prior dental procedures that were done elsewhere. Here, I have found that Dr.Santos is a very knowledgeable dentist with all of the compassion most folks look for when visiting a dental office. She has an amazing staff out front and a truly wonderful dental hygienist named Ashley, as well as some others. I couldn't be any happier with my experiences at this business. In fact, I have been sending friends and family there for quite some time. Therefore, if I were to discuss dental care available in the Dade City, Zephyrhills, Wesley Chapel or surrounding areas with anyone, I would overwhelmingly suggest Smile Design Dentistry in Dade City, hands down, as the best! read more

All I can say is make sure they take your insurance and it is going to be covered before you have the work done, or else you will get a bill in the mail afterwards. I was told by smile design that the visit would be covered by Insurance, but it wasn't. They wouldn't even take partial responsibility and work with me to adjust the payment even a little bit, due to the fact that they should have called and confirmed the insurance information. I will never go back or recommend them to anyone I know. Funny thing is I was about to go to them for $5,000 braces. If they would have just been reasonable and taken $25 off my bill to show good faith I would have went back, had the work done and probably have been a loyal customer. I had 3 appointments total at this office, first was a cleaning and exam for me to get a bridge installed. When scheduling the two following appointments the lady who scheduled me explicitly told me that I wouldn't need to pay up front they always bill insurance first to get as much covered as they could then I would be sent a bill. It was a surprise to me on my second appointment when I finished I had to pay $1,500!!! Out of pocket, completely unexpected due to what the lady told me when scheduling. In addition to this I was given ZERO after care instructions for my temporary bridge and I ended up in pain daily until my permanent bridge came in. When I came back for the bridge install I told them I had been in excruciating pain and my mouth swollen for weeks, I was barely able to eat and had to take 6-8 ibuprofen to get through the day. They then proceed to go into my mouth and start PULLING on the temporary to rip it out without any numbing cream or anything, after I told them how much pain I was in. I was literally crying and told them I will leave I can't do this to which they respond well let us try again before we numb you! Are you serious!? I'm in tears. Finally they gave me a shot and I ripped the temporary out myself while they left the room because I didn't want them near me. After all of this I cancelled my appointments and told them no thank you I will find another dentist. Then I get a call a month or two later telling me I need to come in for a refund because they over charged me, just went today and wouldn't you know they took $530 extra from me! Can't believe how everyone from scheduling, billing and the dentist all messed up and couldn't get anything right. The only good person was the hygienist that did my cleaning. I called to schedule an appointment to get a root canal and a crown. For my appointment almost 3 weeks later. I survived the pain and when they called to confirmed the appointment I dared to ask a simple question, and they cancelled my appointment. I came the day of the appointment and they said I wasn't sure so they gave the appointment to someone else.they also tried to over charge my deductible but I had called the insurance so they took care of it. The lady in the front desk (Jessica I think ) she has no empathy and doesn't care about people at all in the end I complained and they did my procedures. I was there since 9am to almost 3pm. The doctor performing the root canal was a young, patient caring doctor. God blesses his hands. It was painful but he was sure to keep me comfortable as well as his assistant. They were great. Max was also amazing, she was the most caring person of all. She understood my situation, she tried to make it better but in the end when she went to ask a question, since I told her I was in a lot of Pain, I overheard (they didn't even made an attempt to avoid me listening) when she was told they needed to move on from me. She came back and I told me the antibiotics would make it better. At that point I didn't want her to feel any worse, honestly more of the staff should be like Max. Overall my experience was a 1, giving 3 because of Max and the young skinny tall doctor. I don't know his name but he was amazing ! read more

Horrible!!!! Over two months ago I paid to have the Dr re do the implant as the first one I never liked ( same Dr) well 7 visits later the implant are still too small and my sister weeding is this weekend and the Dental office is telling me they don't have availability until end of month so I will not have my new implant by the wedding day even though I make sure I started the process months in advance and paid in advanced. So they messed up many times and now have the implant back but have no availability? A complete lack of professionalism. read more

Worst and probably the most uncaring dentist office around. Would never recommend this office in Dade City. They performed sorry work on my teeth. I had to go to another dentist and get them extracted. They did refund me half my money, then wanted me to sign papers to bill my insurance company for shoddy work. They then sent me a bill for $800 after my refund. I was told if I didn't pay it they would turn it in against my credit which they did. So I'm getting an attorney to take care of this. Please BEWARE!!!! You NEED to know this if you are considering using the Dade City office. I was DEFRAUDED by Jessica at Smile Design. April 2023, my daughter used them to extract two wisdom teeth. The bill was almost $3,000. Yes, you read that correctly - OUTRAGEOUS - just to have two wisdom teeth removed. Everything was paid up front because I didn't want the hassle of making payments. Months later, in November of 2023, I get another bill for over $800, & two other bills that didn't match up cost-wise for the procedure. The $800 bill was the portion insurance was supposed to pay & SD wanted to stick me with the bill because Jessica (who is over the billing department) didn't want to call & explain the claim to insurance & resubmit it. I wound up doing all of her work for her. I told her about the different bills compared to what I had already paid, and it was determined I was owed a refund, just like I had figured. She refunds me $1800 for over payment as SHE verified everything. Fast forward to January 2024, I'm shopping, getting ready to pay for several items, check my balance via online banking & notice a $217.97 debit on my account from Smile Design - which OVER DREW my account. Knowing no one in family had used them (and NEVER will again) since April 2023, I call to ask Jessica why there is a debit against my account. Now, keep in mind I never signed any authorization or gave authorization to her to use my debit card number. She says, "Oh yes, that was me. I debited your account." I asked why. She says, "Well remember that $1800 you were refunded back in November of last year? I made a mistake. I accidentally put your debit card number in wrong and I have to get that money back. I couldn't run the card for the full amount, so I have to wait." I ask "How did you "accidentally" enter a sixteen digit debit card number wrong?" She says, "I don't know how I did it, but I did. It was supposed to go to another person who was on the phone that day waiting for their refund." Need I say, first of all you don't "accidentally" enter a 16 digit card number wrong & refund the "wrong" person. Secondly, IF "another person" was expecting a refund don't you think they would have called NEXT day when they realized nearly $2000 had not been refunded to their account?? - because I would have! She kept trying to explain how she did it & none of it was making sense. I told her she over drew my account - she didn't give a crap - she repeated how she was going to keep running my card until she got the money back and she had the audacity to say "Well, if you would have called me back in November & said $1800 magically appeared in your account we could have fixed it then." That stupid b is the one who verified it to begin with and it was refund owed to me! I ask, "So, I'm supposed to pay for YOUR mistake? You do know what you just did is illegal - it's considered FRAUD. You can't take money out of someone's account & you certainly did not have my authorization to do so." She didn't even acknowledge the fact that she had just committed fraud - she just kept saying she was going to "get back the money". Next morning, she hit the office bright & early & STILL - DESPITE ME TELLING HER SHE WAS COMMITTING FRAUD & STEALING - SHE DEBITED MY CARD AGAIN FOR $1,553.89!!!! Obviously too stupid to realize anyone wouldn't have that much in their checking account, she took it upon herself to break the law again. She gave absolutely no consideration to whether or not my family would have money for any necessities. I reported her to the State of FL and my bank for fraud. I NEVER received any legitimate documentation showing "how" I owed any money back, because I DON'T - the refund I received was accurate! She gave no consideration to how I would be able to pay my bills, buy gas, take my kids to school, buy groceries, etc., - she didn't care because she was desperate for that $1800 for whatever reason - and it wasn't because it was supposed to go to "someone else". Because of Jessica's ignorance and stupidity, FOR OVER A WEEK I couldn't pay bills or buy gas, had NO money for groceries - NOTHING - all because she over drew my account. Again I had NEVER received ANY documentation, nor calls or emails stating that they made an "error" or a legitimate explanation of "how." Jessica could not provide any proof I owed them so the bank covered the debits she had illegally made. I hope she got FIRED because she certainly deserves it. read more

I have been going to this dentist for 4 years. Every time, they try to up-sell me a service or procedure, some I accept others I do not...However, without my knowledge and without my acceptance, they changed me to a "deep cleaning plan" that is not completely covered by Humana, my dental insurance. I made the January appointment for a completely insurance covered bi-annual check-up and cleaning only to find out afterwards that I owed $67 out-of-pocket. Oh, and I never even saw a dentist, only my dental assistant that cleaned my teeth. Beware of this type of practice. Too many honest dentists out there. read more

I hadn't been to the dentist in years, so I knew it was going to be costly with the bad teeth I had. I finally mustered the courage to go last November, and 2 days later my wisdom teeth and 5 broken decayed teeth were removed, and 4 implants installed. NO PAIN! AT ALL! I was waiting for some kind of pain to set in, but it never did.  Last week I got my crowns installed and Dr Gary didn't like the bite on 2 of them, so he sent them back to be modified. The other 2 are imperceptible from my own teeth! I feel very fortunate to have a dentist who isn't willing to settle for less than perfect, and I am excited to get those final crowns placed. My smile is worth it and so is yours. If you're afraid to go to the dentist because of the embarrassment, GO. Put it aside and do it for your health.  I knew that decayed teeth are dangerous health- wise, so I decided that it was my year to help myself- you should too. Care Credit financed my dental work and it was thee best money I think I've ever spent, because it was for me- and my smile! I know that my health won't be compromised by bad teeth, and now that I have a cleaning regimen, my teeth won't let me down. My gum disease will require 4 cleanings a year, but I'm happy to pay for it every time I see my smile with no teeth missing. If I can persuade ONE person to change their life for the better, then my work here is done. I hadn't been to a dentist for over 13 years and there are a lot of us out there. Smile treated me without judgement and accepted the challenge of giving me back my most precious asset- my smile. So go see a dentist , figure out financing, and give yourself the gift of health and your smile back. And remember this- YOU'RE WORTH IT- UPDATE- I've made a few payments now, and I have learned that my CareCredit acount can be used for VETERINARIAN CARE and MY HEALTHCARE NEEDS. I'll pay it off first, but it's great to know that it's not just a one-time financing deal- it's a new financing option for vet bills or emergencies! WOO HOO! Scheduled 2 months ago for a new patient visit. Specifically requested X-ray and cleaning on same day and was assured I would be provided both by scheduler. Never received a follow up appointment confirmation call. Thought that was odd, so called the office. There was an appointment in my name, but wrong date of birth and wrong phone number so wrong patient. Also was told could not be scheduled/rescheduled in the future with requested x-ray and cleaning on same day. This is not what this office will do. This office may want to take a strong look at their scheduling department and policies if they want to accrue new and retain present patients. There was not even the slightest attempt to make it right. Wow. It's pretty easy to select the wrong patient depending on the system they're working in. But it's a pretty big mistake. Went in to for an unexpected dental visit and was very pleased with my experience. I'm a "big chicken" when it comes to the dentist and my experiences with Dr. Mili Patel and Dr. Gaurang "Gary" Nanavati were very good. I felt at ease and comfortable during my lengthy appointment. The biggest part of my comfort level had to be Marietta Martinez. She was so calming and caring. Very attentive to my concerns and kept me calm. I have been a patient of Dr. Gary at Smile Design for over 10 years. I am always impressed with the professionalism he and his staff provide. The office facility itself is impressive- so well designed and technologically up to date. Dr Gary had been gently suggesting for several years that I could benefit from aligning my crowded teeth, and I finally decided to do the Invisalign braces. He and the staff have been very supportive and helpful during the process. Now, at the end, I was met with a little set back. One tooth in particular did not cooperate, and I need some more trays. I had an appointment with Dr Patel. She was compassionate and understanding. I've needed braces for a while. Dr. Patel sat down and really reviewed my X-rays and pictures. She explained how'd braces would benefit me. She explained how it was important for my health and not just cosmetic. She was the first dentist I have ever had who took the time to explain this to me. When I met with the person to go over the cost (unfortunately I don't remember her name but she was also amazing- I think it was Kelly) I was disappointed because I didn't think I would be able to afford it. She spent a lot of time reviewing everything and going over options. The dental assistant (also I can't remember her name) was so supportive and did a great job. Everyone was so amazing. I'm beyond grateful that they went out of their way to really explain the reason for braces and helped me figure out how to pay for them. read more

Very disappointed. On a Friday, after having one of the most painful dentist visits I've ever had, I left with a temporary crown. Within an hour, the temporary crown had fallen out. I returned to the clinic and was able to enter the office to be greeted by the receptionist. After explaining what happened, she explained to me they were closed. I just paid $1500 to have a tooth extracted and have a temporary crown put in (which was supposed to stay in for the 2 weeks it was going to take for my permanent crown to arrive), and she is trying to tell me I would need to go the weekend with the temporary out, take another day off of work and return next week to have the temporary replaced. I again explained what happened and that they needed to fix this today. The receptionist went to the back (where I could hear dental work being performed) then returned to again tell me they were closed, there was no one there to help me but I could visit another office of theirs IN TAMPA. I now became PISSED OFF, I raised my voice and explained in colorful language that I would not leave until this was fixed. Suddenly a lady comes out from the back telling me to calm down and that she could help me (I guess it was magic that she suddenly appeared in the office). She proceeded to replace the temporary, once done she felt it was her place to lecture me about talking disrespectfully to her office staff. I called and cancelled my follow up appointment, when asked why I explained it was the worse dental visit I have ever had, no apology, no offer to make it right. They got their $1500 and are happy with that with no concern for their patients. Ok... so apparently Yelp allows edit to reviews now. Good. Because after posting my original post, I called this place trying to get an itemized bill mailed to me. Hmmm funny how I never received one after cancelling my follow up appointment. You say you want a chance to make it right... send me an itemized bill showing everything paid for and what work was actually completed!!!! That would be a start! read more

This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a review for a dentist. I had visited another dentist recently who basically told me the only way to save my teeth was to pay $16,000. I was scared and worried that I would just have to lose my teeth, one by one. But I figured that I had nothing to lose by getting a second opinion. The moment I walked into Smile Design Dentistry and was actually greeted by a friendly receptionist, I felt less afraid. The dental hygienist was very gentle and compassionate. The dentist, Doctor T. put me at ease right away and explained what was wrong with my teeth. He assured me that I was not going to lose my teeth and I certainly wouldn't have to pay $16,000 (that's like buying a car) to fix them. When I left the dentist today, I felt like a big weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Don't delay going to the dentist out of fear or because you don't think that you can afford care.
