Double billing. Taking money at the time of service and also from Aetna. Double dipping. My service was covered. Aetna issued them a check for $2040 in August which was to be reimbursed to me. They will not refund it to me. I have called several times and got lies and run arounds. I desperately my money back as I am 82 years old and am on a fixed income. They are unscrupulous and un caring. Dr Frankfurth was good until he sold out to Sage. Avoid Sage if you don't want to be robbed. read more

McDonald's of Dental offices. In 1 year 3 different dentist? They quit. Then they try like a fast food window to work on 3 people at once, so instead of 1 hour usually for what I've had done, 3 hours!! Fitted me for a bridge, waited 3 weeks, it wouldn't fit...had to wait another 3 weeks. The "assistants" some are Dangerous. One grabbed on to pull a temporary crown and pick my gums so badly I jumped out of chair. This is a low grade place only for $$$$. There's 15-20 Mcsage dentist offices. Beware read more

I went to Sage Dental in February for a simple cleaning. When I got into the chair, I was informed that they were going to do a deep cleaning because they said I have Peridontal disease. I was not told this I. Previous visits. the visit lasted no longer than 20 minutes. When I went to check out, I was told the bill was almost $400 plus they said I needed a plate for my mouth in which to fill with a gel which cost me $750. They told me I needed to come back every three months. I went two more times and both times I was charged almost $400. Aetna, my insurance company told me that this procedure is covered and that they should have submitted the bill to them and I would be reimburssed Aetna sent Sage a check for $2040 on August of 2025 and so far they have not reimburssed me. I have been going round and round with them win e June 2025 with no results. I Am an 82 year old woman on a fixed income. Please avoid Sage at all costs they are unscrupulous thieves praying on suspecting old people. read more

I have been taking my daughter to Dr. Stepanski (Cross Creek Boulevard, New Tampa) for many years prior to the business being sold to Sage Dental. He is a wonderful dentist. However, Sage Dental as a business is horrific to deal with and, in my opinion, engages in unethical billing practices. My daughter attended an appointment there on a day that their computers were being "changed over" and her chart was updated incorrectly following our appointment. Sage Dental then billed our insurance for services not performed and it was denied as it was not time for her regular 6 month cleaning. I have been trying to get this corrected for 9 months. The last appointment I attended, they told me I was paying for the service ON THAT DATE as they are aware I am contesting the other bill. When I received that EOB, it shows that they charged me $99 more that that service actually cost. When I called they informed me that the money paid was actually put toward the previous bill for the service SHE NEVER RECEIVED or was not SCHEDULED TO RECEIVE. Two months ago I requested line by line bills for a couple dates of service and medical records. I was told that they were sending my requests up the "corporate" ladder. I have received nothing. I called back two weeks ago, talked to the billing person who answered, was told the billing manager would call me back, and nothing. I have gone to this office (prior to Sage Dental taking over) for approximately 9 years and never had a problem until Sage Dental took over. I have always paid at the time of service. I could not on this day, since their computers were down. I can understand making a mistake and mis-charting the services due to the computer system being down. I cannot understand not correcting this mistake, especially when her chart shows a pattern of service that explains why she was there on that day. Beware of their billing practices and beware what billing tells you when you are in the office. I have never written a poor review on a service before but due to their utter disregard for customer service and addressing the issue, I am left with this only option. read more

I have been using this dentistry for almost 20 years... great staff without the unnecessary high pressure sales tactics that many other shady dentist offices use. Unfortunately, those days appear to be over with the new name change, new staff and a team mindset to squeeze as much money from your insurance and your wallet as possible. I pay for dental insurance through my employer and now I'm questioning why I'm even doing that! What makes it worse is I don't even need so much as a filling! The standard of care should not change because I get a new hygienist that doesn't like to clean below the gum-line without charging for it. I tried to discuss this with the manager and change my hygienist. Nobody bothered to return my phone call, I guess I'm just another number, one that's going to take his business somewhere else. read more

I had a very unpleasant experience with my current dentistry and came here for a second opinionand general cleaning. This office is put of network soI paid extra, but it was worth it. Drm Frankfurth did the exam and gum testing himself, and then even took pictures so we could both look and discuss it together. He was caring and addressed all the concerns. Unlike the other place, he didn't automatically suggest an expensive out of pocket root planning. Since my gum readings were bordeline, he suggested general cleaning today then come back in 3 months to re-asess. Kim, the hygenist, was gentle and detailed. My teeth feel beautiful and clean. Thanks, GCD! And I was able to get an appointment here within only two days of calling. Unlike the other place that scheduled me a month out, then only to cancel and bump me another month. Two months vs. two days. BOOM. NO brainier which office is superior. read more

I have been a patient here now for about the last 3 or 4 years. Best dental office I have found while living in Tampa! They are always very accomadating and unecessary work will never be suggested. If Dr. Frankfurth says you need a cavity filled or a crown trust me you do! He's a great Dentist! Also Regina is a great hygentist always remembers bubble gum flavor for me when I go for a cleaning. My son has been a loyal patient of Dr. Greg (Stepanski) since he was three years old...close to nine years. We could not be more pleased with Dr. Greg, the office staff, and the facility. My son has had some dental issues (fused and supernumerary teeth, geographic tongue) over the years, and Dr. Greg has always been very observant to our specific needs, patient, and informative. In all this time, every staff member has been warm, gracious, and also very informative. The office itself is very child-friendly and welcoming, from the large fish tank (featuring Nemo and friends), to back waiting area complete with video game consoles, to the dental stations that are complemented with an assortment of goody jars. I had a tooth break over the weekend. Made an appointment on Monday, was able to get in same day. I had to have a root canal. He was VERY pleased I had good dental insurance. The Dentist performed the root canal (only one root) my co-pay was $348.00. The most PAINFUL root canal I have ever had. I was given a prescription that was pulled off the market by the FDA AT LEAST 10 years ago (Darvocet). Had to call the office back twice before I could get pain meds. For the follow up to complete my crown/cap was going to be over $500.00! It is a small tooth. Going somewhere else to have it completed. While I am fortunate to have the choice to go to any dentist in the Tampa area, I would not even think to place the care of my oral health in the hands/office of any other dentist. Even though prior to this year Dr. Frankfurth was NOT in my insurance network and therefore I had a higher co-pay, I continued going to Dr. Frankfurth due to the exceptional level of quality care Dr. Frankfurth and his office team provides. A visit to Gentle Care Dentistry starts with the friendly and professional office staff, the "gentle" hygienists and dental assistants, and being engulfed in a clean and calm dental office environment. I cannot imagine anyone trusting the care of their oral health to any other dentist. Going to the dentist is not a visit that most folks jump for joy over, but when you have to choose a dentist - I highly recommend Dr. Frankfurth at Gentle Care Dentistry. Unlike other dentists in the area, Dr. Frankfurth is part of the larger community. He doesn't just have an office in the area and lives somewhere else, he IS actively involved in the community. When he makes a recommendation for a procedure or products, he provides detailed information that allows his patients to be comfortable with the choice they make. We're a military family and discovered Dr. Greg Stepanski shortly after we arrived in Tampa in 2013. The children LOVE going to the dentist and seeing Dr. Greg! How many children can say they love going to the dentist?! :) From the entire staff to Dr. Greg, they're absolutely fabulous! It's a family feel when you walk in the doors! I recently met a new co-worker at Moffitt who has grown children...after getting to know each other, it turns out that both of her grown children saw Dr. Greg since they were children!
