Instead they literally took an x ray of my teeth, and claimed I needed major dental work done, without showing me my x rays of my teeth, when I clearly never had major issues before. I had a truly disappointing experience at Aspen Hill General & Cosmetic Dentistry today. I arrived on time for my 4 PM follow-up appointment with Dr. Dobomkowski--not a new patient visit, a follow-up--yet was asked by a clearly untrained and unprofessional front desk staff member to complete "paperwork" again via a link sent to my phone. I explained that I had already completed all the forms when I came in June, and that since this was a follow-up, they already had everything they needed. She insisted it was "policy," so I complied and submitted the forms a second time. Then I sat. For 40 minutes. No one checked in, no one followed up. When I returned to the desk to ask what was going on, the same staff member said, "Oh, you completed the form?" I couldn't believe it. I looked at her and said, "Are you telling me I've been sitting here for 40 minutes because you didn't realize I submitted the form? How long do you think it takes to fill out what you sent me? Do you not value my time at all?" And here's the worst part: At no point did anyone apologize. No one said "We're sorry," or offered an explanation. No one said, "You'll be seen right away." The attitude was indifferent at best and dismissive at worst. I've already spent over $1,200 out of pocket at this practice for two treatments, and this is how returning patients are treated? If you value your time, your money, or even basic respect, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. If I could leave a zero star I would. I called to schedule an extraction. I told the lady who scheduled my appointment what I needed, I go to my appointment only to be told that I couldn't have it done that day because it needed an authorization. Why wasn't that done prior to my appointment I don't know. I then schedule another appointment to come back. Second appointment: when I get there they tell me I needed to pay $500 because my insurance didn't cover an X-ray that is needed for the extraction or the bone graft. I said why wasn't this told to me prior to me coming on. Her response was it was late and I wanted to get home. WHAt???? Ok even if that was the case my appointment wasn't until 4:30 why wasn't I called the morning of. The front desk staff is just RUDE! By far the most unprofessional, dismissive, incompetent and rude people I've ever come in contact with and I worked in retail so that says a lot. Particularly, Stephanie who works at the front desk. When I scheduled my initial appointment, I was told on the phone that cleanings and X-rays would be done. When I arrived the dentist informed me that they don't do that. I am soooo happy they emailed me for a follow up appointment because I forgot the name of this terrible office. My first and last time there was awful. 1. They do not offer cleanings on first visit, you must have consultation first. --- never heard of that in my life for a standard cleaning 2. After "consult", I am told I need about $700 in dental work including two cavity fillings. (Odd, considering I have only had one cavity in my entire life- as a child). I was also referred to about 3 different specialists. 3. Immediately changed my dental insurance, went back to my old dentist (Colesville Dentistry, Dr. Hysong). I am told my teeth are in excellent condition and I had no cavities. In short--- scam office. They should be reported. Be careful with dental practices finding phantom cavities. read more

Each month my appointment has been rescheduled at the last minute and all I've received was an "unfornately, xyz blah blah blah". Today, my appointment was cancelled with a sorry excused of "oh there was a misunderstanding". The receptionist then left notes saying that I hung up on her. Complete lies and no reason to cancel someone's appointment. Worst part about this situation is that the appointment was made in person earlier this week. Are you kidding me? I was not able to complete my appointment today, but nearly had to fight to get my appointment rescheduled for another day at an accommodating time. Dr. Goorah: moves extremely slow. Ex: appointment scheduled for 3pm. Patients aren't seen until 4:30/5pm. She doesn't explain any of her recommendations, her assistants just communicate the price. Front desk think they know everything. Today i am a patient yes, but you do not know my profession. They wrongly tried to educate me about something i specialize in and when i corrected them they tried to give me attitude...they "TRIED" and play it off. 3. They have NO CLUE how to bill insurance. They also dont want to work with the insurance to get the proper billing code to get your procedure(s) covered 4. It takes forever to get back to you with updated prior authorization information or updates in general. I have to be the one to check in. 5. They dont seem to care. I have had a temporary filling for that last 3 months and been trying to resolve this issue BY MYSELF. They claim, contrary to what the insurance told me, insurance dosent cover certain procedures of my treatment plan. I do not want reinfection of the tooth. But has ANYBODY reached out to give me viable alternatives??...NOPE. 6. I got my tooth extracted and was accidently stabbed in my throat by one the dental instruments...there goes my faith and trust. Then i had to wait a good 15-20 minutes just to get a prescription and be sent on my way 7. Dr McCall is the only reason why i give this place 2 stars with without my interaction with her they would get a big fat zero. There is a male dental assistant he is also great. My wife attempted to use Aspen Hill General and Cosmetic as her dentist over the past year. I say attempted because the entire process was unsatisfactory to say the least. Like most other reviewers, we encountered the issue where we made an appointment for a cleaning, arrived early for the appointment, were made to wait nearly an hour (!) before being taken back, and only after the examination were we told that they do not do cleanings on the first visit. But they WILL charge you for both visits! Then we attempted to set up the return visit. Apparently the hygienist is only in the practice on certain days, as opposed to every other dentist I have ever been to, who have a hygienist there EVERY day they are open for business. We were eventually able to set up a date and the cleaning was performed. The Good: When my wife's cleaning was finally done, it was done competently. We were satisfied with the work performed. I consider us lucky that more intensive work was not necessary. The Bad: Everything else. It's a bad sign when you go into a dental practice and there are people arguing with the front desk. It's a flashing neon Las Vegas strip of bad signs when multiple other people have had the same experience. The logistics of this place are broken, plain and simple. It was easy to get an appointment but after being in the office for an hour and a half, I was told that they never do regular cleanings at the first visit. MedicAid is definitely crap and because they are dealing with crappy insurances I think their customer service is effected. I came in on a referral for an abscess (surprise surprise I needed a root canal) but the fact that my insurance doesnt cover specialist was a wallet shock. I had to pay $70 dollars just for a consult, for the Endo to look at the tooth and be like YEP she needs a root canal! I wish I was informed of the cost while the receptionist took my insurance info. She just hit me with the $70 dollars on my first visit I was like umm yea I dont have that--goodbye. I rescheduled and got my funds together (I mean yea its only 70 bucks but I just went shoe shopping that day anticipating I would be paying a $5 co pay--you know?) So round two pockets full of cash I go in. I wait the average 30 minutes after your actual scheduled appt. Im in there and the dental techs are nice, the Endo was nice but for 70 bucks hunnie I coulda done all that. All she did was take ANOTHER xray (you know I had to ask if that was included in the 70 bucks) she touched my tooth with something cold and BAM I was outta there. -_- I dont mind this place because they have electronic appt reminders and you can get it all done in one place. read more

I probably don't need to write a review here, because I see nothing but bad reviews about Aspen Hill General and Cosmetic Dentistry on this site. They don't keep appointments. I showed up for a noon appointment and was told that I didn't have an appointment because my crown didn't come back from the lab. They claimed they had called me the day before, but my phone was on me the whole day and there were no calls from them except that they asked me to confirm the noon appointment via text AND e-mail for the 2 days before my appointment. It took a month of repeated phone calls to get the supervisor to call me back and say that they credited me the amount of my taxi fare for the appointment that they stood me up for. I had waited until this issue was settled before making another appointment. I made my next appointment about a month in advance for 8:15 this coming Thursday morning (2 days from today) and called today (Tuesday) to confirm. Once again I was told that I don't have an appointment and that a supervisor will call me back. I had asked to speak to the supervisor by name, but was told she no longer works there. I hope the new supervisor doesn't take a month to return my call. Yes, they overcharge and try to sell you work that you don't need. I got a second opinion a few months ago and saved myself $2,500.00 worth of work that I didn't need! If I had needed the work, it would have only cost me $600.00 at the place where I got the second opinion. read more
