As someone who is not a fan of the dental office, I must admit that, in all my visits to various dental offices, Citi Place Dental has consistently offered me the Best dental experience ever. 1. Mildred and Lorraine are exceptional staff members. 2. The office music is current and applicable. 3. The Dentist himself engages in positive and real-time conversation, and he has a skill set that is professional and detailed. 4. This is my first partial, and I love it even on day 4 of wearing it and getting adjusted to it. 5. This was the best dental referral. I ended up not making an appointment after I called and found out that, unlike what their website appears to claim, they don't actually do sedation dentistry. Why do you have it on your website when you don't actually do it? Why is there no disclaimer that you don't actually do it? That's quite unethical. Additionally, they told me to remove my Google review and then told me that I was never there and therefore I wasn't allowed to review them. That's not how it works people. I tried to make an appointment with you only to find out that your website was misleading customers by making it look like you have dental sedation when you don't. Then you lied about not having it on your website. You do, in fact, have it on your website. Right under the dental anxiety section, and when you click on that link, it literally says at the top of the page. "IMPROVE YOUR NEXT APPOINTMENT WITH DENTAL SEDATION" That's incredibly misleading. I'd hate to think what your care quality is considering this wasn't up to par and you decided to try to discredit people who point it out. Not my fault you decided to mislead people on your website. Just updating my review as my appreciation for Dr. Achikeh and his team continues to grow. Recently, I went in for an overdue cleaning. I had some anxiety knowing that there could be some irritation and discomfort, especially hearing a horror story from my sister about her last cleaning at her new dental office in NYC. Luckily, I was comfortable enough with the hygienist and staff to share with them my anxiety and fears, soon realizing that there was no need for that. The cleaning went great, and my hygienist even used a water pick while cleaning along by gums which was a game changer! I actually enjoyed the process a little bit and made sure to book my 6 month before I walked out the door. I initially chose this dentist office because it was nearby, covered under my insurance and convenient. I first went to get my teeth cleaned on a Thursday , and it was such a smooth process I decided right then and there that I wanted to get my wisdom teeth removed at that same place asap. I literally scheduled my wisdom teeth extraction for the day after I got my teeth cleaned. My appointment for wisdom teeth extraction (2 upper wisdom teeth) at 2:30pm on a Friday. Dr. Achikeh saw me at 2:20 and by 2:44pm I was out. Dr. Achukeh was super understanding, I told him I have a fear of seeing blood or needles and would be closing my eyes during the procedure to avoid seeing any of it. I asked how long the procedure would last and he said less than 10 minutes which initially I didn't believe lol. During the procedure he asked me multiple times if I was doing okay, and reassured me that wisdom tooth extractions should only feel like some "discomfort but never painful." He was right I felt no pain and my face is not swollen yet (4 hours after the procedure.) I greatly recommend choosing Dr. Achikeh as your dentist (specially for wisdom tooth extractions). His staff is respectful and nice, while he cares about his patients and their satisfaction with the services. For someone who dreads dentists visits and is sensitive to the needles and noises of dentist visits, I am happy to have had such as wonderful, yes wonderful, experience. read more

Update: I shared my experience with the dentist office directly & Dr. Kingsley Achikeh personally called to see if anything could be salvaged from the visit. He deserves a lot of credit for caring so deeply about his practice. Credit where credit is due. Would my experience have been different if Dr. Achikeh was my dentist? Don't know. I wish I'd read about the possibility of the hygienist experience I had. First-time patient review: Office staff & dentist (not Dr. Achikeh) were fine, talked for a total of 5 minutes. Hygienist review: First time visit. The hygienist I was assigned my teeth was VERY rough with my teeth & gums. Without touching my mouth, the hygienist instructed me to come back 3x/year (instead of the regular 2x/ year that insurance covers, meaning I'd pay out of pocket $400). I'm not a dentist, so I don't know. She did the Gum Disease test, which is NOT supposed to hurt, but she KEPT hitting my nerves. I have had this test previously done twice (not including this time) in the past & it has never ever hurt as much as it did this time. It was as if she purposely wanted to cause damage to show that my teeth and gums were in trouble. It's not supposed to hurt, ever. When doing another test, she could not hold back her horror (?) when she felt around my jaw for her "comprehensive" exam. I have common TMJ problems & she said, and I quote, "wow, this is such a bad case." Uhm, excuse me, what? When she went in to actually clean my teeth, she was SO ROUGH with my teeth. I could feel her pushing so, SO hard with the water pick tool, she hit the nerve every single time. I've had this done before so many times, from hygienists who know what they're doing. I know how my teeth are supposed to feel when the water pick is on your teeth, I know how much pressure you're supposed to feel: NONE! You're not supposed to not feel any pain at all. She'd occasionally ask me questions about my teeth & be incredibly contemptuous with an accusatory tone when asking health questions, "I'm trying to figure out if this is why you're exhibiting these problems, or if it's that!" That is NOT how you're supposed to ask a question to another human being-- any human being ever. When she was scraping my teeth with the scraper tool, it legitimately felt like my teeth were going to crumble from how hard she was scraping & pushing at them. My teeth are still in pain from the cleaning from this office. I've been to many, many dentists in my life with many, many hygienists cleaning my teeth, but never EVER have I left a cleaning with my teeth in so much pain. I got my teeth cleaned about 9m ago from my regular dentist. I could've been unlucky, but you spend more time with the hygienist than the actual dentist. Her professionalism left so much to be desired --I'm speaking directly to her tone and reactions while doing my examination. She also suggested 2 procedures as is he was a dentist, which she ABSOLUTELY is not. One: that I come back 3x/year instead a 2x/year, which insurance does not cover. Two: heavily suggested I do a deep gum cleaning procedure in which I go under general anesthesia and they clean my gums--like a dog. This is the first time I've actually understood why people dread going to the dentist. Yikes. I spent the whole time hoping for the visit to be over. I do not recommend office based on this one-time experience. read more

I've been going to this dentist for 6 years. I know the dentist and supporting staff. I've always had excellent service (I've been here 20+ times). They answer my questions, if there were ever any small issues they fixed them, the staff is professional & timely. If I ever had to wait it's because they are extremely busy and see a large volume of patients. My highlights: Excellent not painful cleanings 2x a year by hygienist tips on how to care for health of my gums and teeth. Dr. Achikeh filled a very large cavity and numbed it perfectly that another dentist tried to urge me to get a root canal. I've had about 10 successful painless fillings, I've had a painless root canal that removed infection from my gums, Dr Achileh referred me to Dr Cohen to have wisdom teeth removed that were contributing to other teeth issues (crowding, cavities, tooth trauma). I had 8 teeth removed from Dr Cohen under anesthesia in 1 hour flat she did an immaculate job. Amd most recently I've had my braces placed by Dr Savage & his assistant its new but im sure I will be satisfied with the results. This is an excellent place. Dr. Achikeh and team cares about his clients follow up calls and they work tirelessly to pro ide the best and safest possible care. Ive never felt so cared about by a dentist and I used to have so much dental anxiety. If you don't understand something ask questions, if you have an issue talk to them to work it out. Thats with anything in life. Also this place is clean and has great new update equipment for all your needs. And my teeth are complicated and my family has a long history of teeth issues so I need a highly skilled dental team and this is It!! City Place Dental - My new braces 2020 - Cosmetic Dentists Near Me - Silver Spring, Maryland

I'm a bit bummed to have to leave a negative review on an otherwise highly rated place, but I've had nothing but unremarkable to bad experiences here. Often the dentist was very late (kept waiting a few times for 40 minutes plus) and I only ever had 1 hygienist who I thought did a really good job of cleaning (could still see plaque on my teeth after all other visits). Most frustrating, the dentist performed a filling incorrectly on one of my teeth... I don't know why exactly, but he went in at the cavity sideways, which pushed a fragment from the cavitied tooth onto another (like stuck between my teeth). I had pretty awful pain for a month or two, and when I went back, despite an x-ray where the bone fragment was VERY visible (even to me??), the dentist needed it pointed out to him repeatedly before he acknowledged it and removed it... I don't think he believed me that I was in pain. I am quite confused as this place came very highly recommended to me. read more

Horrible and unprofessional office. I scheduled a first for today at 2PM. I get there and call to ask directions from the Bank of America and they tell me I don't have an appointment?!? I tell them that can't be possible, I made the appointment over the phone with a person and received a confirmation via text. The person on the phone offers absolutely no remorse, they just tell me I have to wait a whole hour to be seen. Are you kidding me? What made me extremely angry is the fact that they did not even seem sorry about THEIR mistake. Don't go to this place, you'll have to constantly wonder if the appointment you made will actually be waiting for you when I get there. read more

This has been a horrible experience. They had fixed a broken tooth and I had to return THREE times because the cap they put on it continued to fall off a few weeks after! I have neverrr had a problem like this! Not only that but even though they assured me I would not be billed (before and after the appointments) I got a bill in the mail for the same repair I had to go back for three times. I'm scared of the Dentist. Really, really scared: my heart beats faster, I get jittery, the works. I came to Dr. Achikeh shorty after moving to the area, and after not seeing a dentist for nearly 4 years. I had around 10 cavities. Dr. Achikeh was able to schedule me for 4 appointments in order to fix everything over the course of a month, and most remarkably, he was able to put me at ease, not an easy feat. He'll talk you through the process, gives the most painless shots I've ever had, and constantly checks to make sure you are comfortable and not in pain. And his idle chit chat about whatever is in the news that day helps keep your mind off it. Plus the drill isnt very loud. The office is extremely modern. Cable TV, recent magazines, and most importantly, the X-ray machines. open 360 x-rays, with moniters right in front of the exam chair so you can look at your own x-rays. The staff is very polite and proffessional and will answer all your questions. I will be coming here for all my dental care in the future read more

I moved to DC from Seattle where I had the best dentist ever and had put off finding a new dentist partly because I didn't want to be disappointed. I was really impressed by the staff at City Place Dental. As a first time patient, they had taken care of my insurance eligibility by the time I'd arrived, and were friendly and on-time. The hygienist was skilled, professional and friendly. The offices are modern with the latest digital equipment and even have HDTVs to watch (for those of us who find it uncomfortable to carry on a conversation while our teeth are being cleaned!). Dr Achikeh seemed truly to have an interest in my dental health -- I don't have perfect teeth -- but wasn't pushy about my getting a lot of things done. I will definitely be going back. Dr. Achikeh has been my dentist since I was a teenager. So has my mother. He takes care of you and really makes sure your teeth are healthy. He even deals with all my moans and groans about having to be numbed up (needles ack!) or just being unhappy about having cavities. He's just great and I would say you should go if you're looking for a new dentist or a better one. His staff is also one of the nicest office staff I've run into over the years. The dentist cares. Dr Akicheh is amazing. He has tons of experience and is super gentle. He's been my dentist for 3 or 4 yrs now I can't recommend him enough. He doesn't try to upsell you. He only recommends services you actually need. Sometimes at the beginning of the year he has specials for certain pricey procedures. I think his office takes many types of insurance. I have delta dental. My dental company wouldn't pay something and the receptionist here advocated for me until they eventually paid. He also has late yours once a week, and Saturday hours. He will work with you if you can't make the hours. I had the first appt on a Saturday But Dr Akicheh came before they opened because a guy messed up his tooth and was moving to California. I've never had an issue. The office staff is also really nice and personable. read more

So. I am torn giving this place such a low rating because my first few experiences with them were really phenomenal! The dental office is clean and in a great location. Staff are always kind and professional. My semi-annual cleanings went well and were never problematic. I am giving City Place dental 2 stars because of my last visit with them last year. After a cleaning/x-ray, we discovered that I had cavities wedged between two teeth. I went to get them filled and let me tell you, it was such a painful experience. I don't know what they injected me with to numb my mouth, but it wasn't helpful, even after several doses. I remember wincing in pain. My fillings were filled and that was it. I decided to switch dentists because City Place was booked until July when I called in March I think. At my new dentist, I discovered that I had 3 cavities... two of which were the SAME two teeth w/ the cavity wedged in between that were supposedly filled. I find it really hard to believe that my cavities were properly filled. I don't know if he did a rush job or did less than what was needed to be done because I was in so much pain or what! But it is absurd that I had to spend money on the same two teeth within the same year for fillings smh. read more

So I had to share my experience so others can know THE 5 STARS ARE REAL PEOPLE, REAL STORIES :-) The short version: Don't think twice, just call and get an appointment. I promise you will not be disappointed. The long version: First, the location is great. The dental office is well lit, clean, well decorated. The dentist himself, Dr. Achieke, is super humble and polite! I really appreciate this. All of the workers there were in a good mood. I barely had a wait time. My appointment was for 9:00am, I showed up at 8:50, before I could finish my paperwork they called me back. The dental assistant and front desk personnel were very polite. Now to my cleaning, It was the most thorough routine cleaning I have ever had ( I am not exaggerating). He took his time to examine every tooth, and was particularly thorough in removing those build up that even we that get compliments on our teeth daily have. I have had dentists compliment my teeth, I've been refused free dental service at dental schools because my teeth "are in great condition". I think for this reason, dentists make the quick assumption that I take good care of my teeth! I never floss ( I should, but I thought I was fine w/o it because of the compliments) until this visit where the dentist was so thorough he found a spot that I miss often while brushing. He was so good at explaining all his concerns about my teeth. I got my tooth pulled years ago and no dentist has ever told me to get an implant to replace the missing tooth, until today. As much as I was against the idea, after doing research I learned about the benefits of putting an implant in place of my missing tooth! I also learned about the issues I may experience if I don't. Dr. Achieke, knows his work well and you can tell he enjoys, and sincerely cares about oral hygiene! Did I mention he answered the phone when I called to make my appointment? What doctor ever does that! They are always too busy. But not Dr. Achieke! Humble, talented, passionate man, that cares about the quality of service he provides. He was also sooooooo polite to his employees, as he should. Some water got on the floor while he was working on me, he asked so politely if she could please get him a mop. And when she mopped the floor, he thanked her like 6 times! "Thank you very much" X6 he said! I am not even over exaggerating. I felt so warm inside watching this interaction. Dr. Achikeh is a great dentist. I have been getting my cleanings done with him for the past two years. I appreciate that he does all the cleaning and polishing as opposed to having a technician do it instead. He is very kind and responsive to my requests and concerns. The office is conveniently located within 2 blocks of the silver spring metro. There is usually not a long wait to be seen and the waiting room is equipped with up to date magazine and cable tv. Each patient chair has a computer screen where you can see the images of your x-rays, etc. so you are always in the know of what is going on. You also receive a goodie bag following your visit that includes a toothbrush and toothpaste. It is not hard to get an appointment on a short notice, Dr. Achikeh is very accomodating! read more

Dr. Achikeh is the epitome of what the standard should be when it comes to a dental visit. I had my first visit with him after chipping a molar he and his staff were warm, welcoming and made me feel very comfortable. I assumed he would have to put a crown on the tooth, but instead put a filling on the tooth and explained that it would be just as good and that he was a conservative dentist and did procedures that when they were absolutely needed. Finally a dentist that cared about me! After finding out that I needed many fillings at my next visit one of his many kind dental hygienist went over all of the costs for my next visit. Who does that?! The other day my boyfriend told me how I should switch to his dentist (since he loves his also) and I said that as long as we live in Silver Spring City Place Dental will be where I go! read more
