I've had great service with Aspen from start to finish. My old furnace was basically on life support when I called, and McCully showed up right on time. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and honest about the fact that the old beast had finally decided to retire. Since this all happened in February (terrible time to lose heat), Aspen quickly sent someone out the same day to give me an estimate for a new furnace. The installation was scheduled and installed within 48, the techs arrived on time, were courteous of my home and pets, and made the whole process smooth. McCully came back today for a recheck. Again prompt, professional, and easy to work with. I appreciate the text message that contains a picture and ETA of the technician prior to their arrival. Overall, a great experience. We called aspen to have them take a look at our steam boiler that was sporadically working. They came out and within minutes Brad Walniewski had it diagnosed as a bad thermostat. He was very honest and cordial from the start. He even took the time to share some knowledge on boilers and how to diagnose and fix them to help save me money in the future! I would like to say that this review doesn't reflect Eric as he was a technician that was nothing but good to me, who worked on a few calls to my house. That being said this company prices much higher than any other company I've seen. This company was hired to do a big project in my house in which resulted in some errors in which they haven't fixed to this day. Shame on this company for not completing their mess up's. When this company had to redo the old piping in my house, one of their technicians broke a piece of the cast iron piping and dropped it down within the pipe. Luckily they were able to magnet fish it out or it could have caused my sewer line to back up, costing more money and resulting in some serious, nasty issues in my house. The issue at hand that they have not completed yet gave me their word they would is, while redoing the piping in connection with my shower. They ripped the floor up but they floor has a rustic, specific hidden door piece that was specifically made for covering the piping so that nothing would fall down into the ceiling. They threw this piece away and proceeded to tell me, "opps' our bad and stated they would construct something to replace what they "accidently" did but HASN'T REPAIRED THIS TO THIS DAY. I believe Aaron was the one in question that I followed up with a call stating when they were going to repair their mess up and they haven't done so to this day. Over a $2,000 job and they caused more damage than there was originally. Update: This company has no integrity as they left a reply trying to show affirmation, but then when I exposed them again for not keeping their word and getting in contact with me like they claimed to have told the public, they then blocked me on social media, deleted my review and of course didn't contact me to fix what they broke and threw away from my house during their job. ...See you in court for the damages!!! read more

Technician Bill Weese gave me a heads up he was on his way & approximate time he would arrive based on his location. Bill is Extremely knowledgeable, patient, answered all of my questions explaining things, so a layman like me can understand what is required to maintain my Heating HAV system. Bill is always prompt and respectful. When Bill leaves you can not tell he was ever even there. 5 stars to Bill. GIVE THAT MAN A RAISE! 4 stars over all to Aspen because I have been an Aspen customer for almost 30 years. I get my furnace serviced EVERY single year. This year for the 1st time when I called to schedule they said the 1st available appointment was the week of Dec 12th that was over 1 month away! I always service my furnace late fall. This shocked me. I had to do a my furnace doesn't work properly to get my normal service with in 8 days. I love Aspen I am a dedicated long time customer, I will continue to use Aspen but, this year I am disappointed in my scheduling experience. read more

One of the worst companies we have ever dealt with. Horrendous customer service! Paid over $1,300 for a new water heater and installation. Was told at time of installation the water heater could cause a bad smell in the water, and if this occurs its no issue just call them up and there is a rod they would need to remove. Days later, the water smelled so bad you can not even turn it on hot. Called to have the rod removed and the technician arrived a couple days later. Did not have the proper tools for the job and asked to use several of my own... not a huge deal but slightly unprofessional. After using my own tools, leaving my basement covered in water and insulation from the job he tells me I owe $140 for a service call... WHAT? $140 after I spent $1,300 to install a water heater that can't be used. Paid and figured we would just move on and not recommend.. unfortunately our water still smells so bad we cannot even use it. Called for second opinion and they can see where the seal for the anode rod had not even been broken, let alone removed or replaced. So essentially we were ripped off for $140 for a tech to borrow my tools, make a mess, and do nothing to my water heater. We are having another company come take care of this issue and could not tell more people NOT to use Aspen. Worst customer service, products, and just unprofessional overall. will post photos of the mess and tech name to avoid at all cost. read more

Last night we had to call Aspen Heating and Cooling around 9:00 PM because our air conditioner unit was no longer giving us cool air and the temperature was quickly rising within the house. McCully, the technician who came out, was there pretty quickly. He did explain that the appointment was going to cost $99, whether he can repair it or not. We agreed. He was here for under five minutes and told me that there had been a hole punctured in a tube that was leaking Freon. He informed me that this was due to having a dirty air filter and the airflow not being able to get through, so the pressure from that, caused the tube to be damaged. We will admit it had been quite a while since we changed the filter, so it sounded like a logical reason. He told us that there was absolutely nothing they could do to fix the problem, and the only solution would be to purchase a whole new heating and cooling unit because ours was about 25 to 30 years old. He told us that the first thing in the morning, his sales team would call to set up an appointment to come out and give us a quote. He told us a ballpark range would be about $10,000 and about a week out before we would have air-conditioning again. This morning, we reached out for a second opinion. The person who arrive to look at our unit told us that yes, the air filter was very dirty, which in fact, stopped the airflow from going to the unit. However, he informed us that there was no broken tube, and that there was a lot of Freon throughout the system. He took his time to draw a diagram to show us how the unit worked and why having the dirty filter froze up the unit. He was able to give our unit a good clean and within a few minutes the central air system was working again. It is been a few hours now, and our house is very cool. I don't even think I have to draw this conclusion for you. However, needless to say, Aspen Heating and Cooling is simply out to get our money and to make a sale. My husband and I own a business in Jackson and understand the importance of doing what is best for the customer. It is companies like Aspen Heating and Cooling that make people so afraid to reach out for helping services. I just imagine my elderly grandmother needing some help with her air-conditioning unit. They would've drained her bank account because she wouldn't have thought otherwise to get a second opinion. She would've put all of her trust in a " reputable" company. This is a great lesson. Always seek a second opinion and never use or recommend Aspen Heating and Cooling. read more

I was told that my furnace was most likely leaking carbon monoxide due to a cracked heat exchanger and it needed to be replaced immediately. I was given a quote of around $4500. I had another heating and cooling company come out to check on it through the Consumer's Energy Appliance Service Plan the next day. That technician said that the heat exchanger in my furnace would take a hammer hitting it and probably still not crack. A CO test was done by them and there wasn't a trace of CO in my home. Both Consumer's Energy and the company that came out feel that I was being scammed into buying a new furnace. When I called the owner of Aspen, he was very rude from the minute I answered the phone. I will never do business with this company again. read more

Went through Lowe's Hardware for a new water heater. Then proceeded to a "Detail" costing $35 which is deducted from the price of the water heater if you choose to purchase. Mark from Aspen came at the appointed time to measure up and take notes. Mark answered all questions, gave expert opinion, was friendly and professional. That was Monday. Wednesday the item from Lowe's was purchased and Aspen set up an appointment on Thursday. I had been without hot water for a week. It was a frontier, wild west experience. Adam arrived and made short work of installing a new water heater and removing the old one. A nice youngster (I am 71, anyone is younger than me), who was friendly, experienced and knowledgeable, did an efficient job and cleaned up afterwards. Also volunteered information to help keep the unit working properly. Kudos to Mark and Adam! Recommend the company and personnel to anyone. read more

Aspen bought out Aire Flo heating and so they came out to do my annual furnace inspection. The tech said the heat exchange was cracked and that they could not get a new one under my current warranty (which I still have two years to go on it). They said I needed a new furnace. I do not have the money for a new furnace and told them that. The person on the phone at the office was not understanding and could not explain why they could not get a new heat exchange replacement. I said I would think about it and called another company to confirm if this was true. It was not and I wish to say a super thank you to George at Michigan heating for coming out and letting us know that there was nothing wrong with our furnace. read more

I've worked with Aspen before and had a good result. When I called to make the appointment, I told the person who answered that I have two furnaces and air conditioners. She said normally it would be $199 each, but that she would do one service charge. When the tech got here, he worked on one, and when finished with that one, asked if I knew how their fees worked. I shrugged and explained what I had been told. The tech said that what the scheduler had offered "was not her call." He then said that he could do the second one for $79 "as a courtesy." I declined. Your company came for a routine check of my AC not working. In the first minute, your employee diagnosed that my capacitor needed replaced. I asked him how much to replace that and was quoted $301. Plus told that I REALLY needed a "starter kit" and that would be an additional $301. Out of ignorance (which I assume you are counting on) I agreed to changing the capacitor. Fortunately (for me) I went to amazon quite quickly and found a capacitor I needed for $13.95. When I asked the employee about the price, he quickly packed up and told me that I could probably handle the job. (Which needs no tools and is connecting three wires.) Is there ANY justification for this upcharge? Had you done the decent thing and simply charged me for the service call and plugged in a new capacitor, I'd have felt good about our exchange and probably bought my new AC and furnace from you in the future. Can you tell me that you wouldn't feel extremely taken advantage of to be charged $301 for $14 part and a 30 second installation charge? This is just wrong. And I assume the same is true for the "starter kit." C'mon Aspen, is there no integrity any more? So disappointed. read more

We had a boiler and hot water heater installed by Aspen in 2001, biggest mistake of our lives. The unit we got was substandard, installed incorrectly, not installed to code, and though the unit has an inspection sticker, we suspect that no inspection ever took place because the city has no record of it. Total and complete callous disregard for our safety and comfort, and willful neglect of code violations. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. Beware. Aspen One Hour Heating and Cooling came out to my house 5 times due to a furnace that kept going into lock out mode.The first visit resulted in installing a new thermostat that I provided at a cost of $99 to install and another $99 for the after hours visit. The problem persisted. The next three visits they pretty much told me it was running fine, yet went into lock out mode as soon as they left. They tried to tell me I needed a new furnace. The problem persisted. The next visit resulted in $277 bill for the burners to be cleaned and a new flame sensor installed. The problem persisted. The last visit I was told my burners were dirty. When I asked how they could be dirty when I paid to have them cleaned yesterday, the technician replied, "I don't think so." I called the manager to complain and was hung up on. Yet another company came and guess what! My thermostat wasn't installed correctly and neither was my flame sensor, nor were my burners cleaned. This bill was $108 and my problem was actually a half blocked vent. Aspen technicians were too incompetent to diagnosis and correct my problem. There's no price list like at a mechanics shop so i was a bit baffled at the cost. It cost a lot, but I expected that. It was $860 for everything.
