Aspen roofing was recommended to by my Boss and he now regrets telling us about them. If I could leave zero stars I would. They caused water damage to our heating unit, bedroom basement, and did not pull a permit initially which we paid for to replace the roof. We had Aspen roofing replace our roof this summer as well as replace our gutters and rain spouts. We mostly dealt with Mike and with Ryan Brady. Ryan got involved after the fact when issued arose. They were placed in a way where our basement got flooded. We have been here for 3 years in this home and never had a water issue. The 1st year we did not even have gutters, no water damage. The 2nd year my husband installed gutters and spouts and still no issues. When it rained this past August it destroyed one of the basement bedrooms. The spouts were placed in a way where they immediately flooded all the window wells. They did come out and extend the spouts but with our old gutters we kept in the garage. They ended up telling us they would make this right and fix our spouts. The fix was elongating the spouts ridiculously into our yard. We also had some water damage to our gas flue which drained directly into our heating unit. They stated it was our flue that was an issue and nothing they did, but again we never had a water issue till that point. Our wonderful HVAC people made sure out heating unit was OK for winter. When we contacted Ryan Brady we also found out they did not pull a permit for the work done. We paid for a permit to be pulled. It took some back and forth and even having Ryan ask us if we really wanted a permit pulled....... Yes we want the work to be inspected. I even called the permit office to make sure that a permit has to be pulled for any work done. We finally got a permit pulled - but after that they have given us the run around on having someone come inspect the damage from their company and compensate us for the work that will need to be done to fix it. They have decided to not reach out to us since the beginning of December, The roof and gutter replacement with a permit was $9,219.00 for about a 1,000Sq ft home with the work being done this past August 2021. Please be aware, make sure they pull a permit and do not use them for any gutters or drain spouts. Also don't pay off your bill till you know for a fact that all of those things have been done. I would encourage anyone who has used them in the past to make sure a permit was pulled since any damage would be fun to try and get fixed on your homeowners insurance without one. We also received a lovely message from Mike regarding our issue - "The gutter was installed the best they could and there was no concern of complaints at the time. We are not responsible for the way your yard is designed or the way the window wells were installed. If you had an issue with the way the downspouts were installed I wish you would have said something. There is no way we can convince the owner to pay for flood damage. I wish there was some that I could do but I've got nothing. "- Thank you Aspen for showing us and hopefully others how you handle a situation. read more

I am an out of town owner of a rental property in Salt Lake City and recently contracted with Aspen Roofing to a replace my old roof, add insulation in the attic, and siding to an unfinished second floor addition. I planned a trip to oversee the project and found it was unneeded. The staff at Aspen Roofing were courteous and thoughtful and worked with the schedules of both me and my tenant. They kept me apprised of the progress and cleaned up the work site daily and left no unsightly debris. I had scheduled new decking for the roof, but the project lead found it was unnecessary. I had heard stories about other companies trying to up-sell, but Aspen actually reduced the price accordingly. The final product was completed on time and under budget. To start this whole business off, we tried to get gutters installed to find out that we had a section or rotten fascia that needed repaired to nail the gutters to. We called MULTIPLE roofing companies and Aspen came and and did an estimate within 4 days- most tried to give us over the phone estimates. The estimator-Ash was blunt with us and told us that we could fix the offending issue or replace the whole section which was about the same price. I appreciated his honesty- we signed the contract and put our 30% down right before Thanksgiving. Obviously this business is dependant upon weather, and the weather did not cooperate at all for the month of December. The main office people told us that they would give us a weeks notice before coming to install. I called at the first of January just to check that we were on the schedule and was told not to expect anything to mid-february. Since our issue was not critical, I was ok with this. Martin Luther King Day (Monday morning/Holiday) a two man crew shows up- no call, no notification. I had concerns since they were asking me what they were supposed to do- and had the signed quote in their hands. As soon as they started working I called the office and spoke with Ry who just kept repeating" They should not be there today, I did not know." Needless to say, though I was surprised and certainly glad I was home, I was not going to call them off the job once they were physically on the property. I was more irritated since in the quote there was a provison for snow removal- if my husband or I would have known- we would have had the small amount that was on the roof removed before the crew showed up- $55.76 later ( for the snow removal). The crew were phenomenal!! I can not say enough about the crew, and the cleanliness of the project. Granted ours was a small project, but it was torn down, fixed, and redone in a 48 hour period. The only way that I knew that the crew had actually been there was that; there was a small amount of saw dust in the lawn from cutting timber, and the garbage can right next to the house had some shingle dust on it. Super clean, no nails, old shingles, or paper backing from the shingles that you usually find with roofing jobs. I would hire this company again merely for the cleanliness of the crew. Bottom line: If you can put up with the office not being overly efficent and having to stay on top of them and manage them also, the crew is well worth the quality of work and most importantly cleanliness of the site during and after completion. I have used this company a couple of different times, have referred them to clients, friends and even my mom. They are a terrific company who uses quality materials and provides great workmanship. On my own roof, they did a spectacular job with the shingles, added all new sheeting because of my old house, matched the existing fascia on new gables that they installed and even came up with a very challenging solution to re-pitch the rear of my house that had many different widths. It all turned out great and most people think that the additional gables are original to my 1948 Sugar house Rambler. I am in the construction / home improvement industry and run into a lot of different companies and along with that levels of professionalism and performance. I had the same experience as the other reviewers who had difficulty getting a response from the company. It's been almost six days since we had an appointment set and I still haven't heard a word from the company as to why they didn't show up, despite my voicemail the following day. Everything started out great. I got a quick response to my initial call and a very thorough estimate emailed to me right away. We waited through winter to start our small residential project so I called back months later to set an appointment and, again, they promptly emailed the original contract and offered to honor everything in it. After signing and returning it I got absolutely no response at all. I emailed and got nothing. I waited another couple of weeks and left a voicemail. Finally, almost a month after signing, I got a date set up. I called and emailed to confirm. But, as I said, no one showed up and no call to me was made. I wish I didn't have use this one instance to rate the company's competency but it was my experience and it's the only rating I can really give. I'd love to give more stars based on my initial dealings with the company but shoppers want trustworthy and qualified people to do the work on their house. I can't attest to either of those things. *** A week after my missed appointment a crew just showed up at the house in the early afternoon and began setting up to install gutters that were a completely different color than what was in the contract. Luckily someone was at the house to stop the crew and I was able to reach a manger/owner with the emergency number provided when I wasn't able to reach anyone at the main number. I have no idea how everything went so wrong with my situation. But I am relieved that Aspen agreed to cancel my contract. I can't say they were too contrite or accountable. But they didn't push the issue and I trust that the contract was voided. read more

Their bids are fair and the work was done in a timely fashion. Ryan was our salesperson and we were always able to get through to him even if he were out of town. Jesus and his co worker Francisco were AMAZING! They always were on the job first thing in the morning and stayed on the job all day. They were so nice and respectful and even willing to do "extra" little repairs on the deck and chimney. Chose this contractor for installing metal roofing on my house. End result is roof is solid and well done. I did have some significant issues with the handling of the contract, timely communication, and willingness to make me a happy customer after the problems. If you use these guys I highly recommend you baby sit the contracting process beyond what you think you need. If any suggestions are made that are not on the contract demand a reprint with the changes reflected before signing. Before work begins go over it again with the account worker and verify everything and everyone is on the same page. I assumed after contract signing things were in order. They were not. Roof isn't quite a cool looking as it would have been. But functionally sound. read more

I made an appointment for a rood repair,the roofer came came took a loom at my roof and we signed a contract after the quote was received. The repairman came out climbed up on my roof , came back down and told me he needed to go and get the supplies needed . He did not return that day . I received no phone call or,text as to why. I called the company the next day and they did nothing to rectify the situation . We received rain that very same night and had more leaking into my home .Zero apologies. The work itself seems to be holding up. I will need more roof service in the future and will most likely look elsewhere read more

Aspen gave us a competitive bid, and the person who brought us the bid was very friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of my questions, so we chose Aspen to replace the roof. We felt that each person went out of their way to give us great customer service and quality of work. Even though it wasn't required or part of the bid, they cleaned our eave vents as well as fixing some damaged detaching siding on the side of our house. They came and gave me an estimate --while they were not the least expensive, they were the most complete and easiest to work with! We had our roof re-done last summer (2017) by Aspen. The person we worked with was extremely knowledgeable about roofing. We also installed new gutters and increased the angle of one part of the roof. The work was done on time and looks great, we've had no issues. I had previously gotten quotes from 2 other roofing companies, but they were far less experienced. We paid a little more for Aspen, so that we could get a quality product. read more

THEY WERE LATE I asked Aspen roofing to come out to assess my roof for mitigation of ice damming. Ryan came out and determined that installing two solar powered attic fans, replacing baffles in my attic and shooting insulation in the attic would help reduce the ice damming. I had to contact them twice to hire them for the job (this should have been the first red flag), but once I got someone on the phone (Never had them respond to an email) they scheduled me for a month out and told me they would be there at 9am. The day of, 11 am came and I called, because I hadn't heard from them. There was some confusion on their side and told me they would be here in 2 hours (Okay so now we're talking 1pm)....... 2pm came along and I called again. More confusion, and told me they would be on the way soon. The workers showed up at 4pm, without all of the materials, dropped off a bunch of insulation and installed the fans in a couple of hours. They told me they would be back the next day and would need to get into the attic. So basically, I took a day off work for nothing. THEY DIDN'T COMMUNICATE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS...OR AT ALL The following day, they showed up in the morning, and right before they got started shooting the insulation in the attic, my wife noticed the guys were wearing 3M respirators. This prompted her to ask if it would be safe for her, the baby, and 5-yr-old to stay in the house (baby was sleeping in a room 10 ft away from the attic access). After asking the age of the kids, the guy admitted he probably would have his kids leave the house. After this, we did research to find that it's not safe to remain in the house while spraying insulation. At no point did anyone discuss with us the need to leave the home during installation. And the fact that my wife had to ask just minutes before they started is very unsettling and irresponsible on their part. So my wife then woke up our sleeping baby, and gathered our 5 year old to get them out of the house during the shooting of the insulation. They told us it would take about 30 minutes, and then as my wife was going to leave to drive the kids around for half an hour, she asked for clarification, and they then told her it would be more like 2 hours. THEY DID IT WRONG: After the installation I noticed the insulation was uneven, in piles in the attic and not evenly distributed. More importantly, the attic fans were installed half-way down the roof and in the shade, out of the sunlight. Last I checked, solar needs to be in the sun to operate. I contacted them after I noticed the fans were not operating. No Response. THEY HAVE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE: I have received only one phone call from Aspen Roofing, despite contacting them well over 20 times. Immediately after the job, I started communicating with Rye, the production manager. At first, it was clear, Rye was aware there was a problem with the fans (I had sent an email with pictures of them in the shade). But Rye had not contacted me after several days, so I called him. His response was basically, "I don't know what to do, let me talk to Ryan." No response. Days later I called again and told him about some research I had done and found fans they could buy that have the solar panel on a wire so that the panels can be moved to the front of the house to be in the sun. Basically, he said "Thanks, I'll talk to Ryan and let you know." Again, nothing. No response. More calls, more frustration. Finally, Rye tells me they are planning to come out and install the fans further up the roof so the existing panels can be in the sun and patch the 2-foot holes they cut into my roof. I'm thinking, great, at least we have a plan now. I'm anxious to get this fixed so I won't have ice damming, the whole point of hiring them to do the work in the first place. I'm told they will be here on one of two days that weekend......they don't show up. So after the weekend I call again. Rye's not there, so I leave another message. No call the next day. So I call again. Rye is out for the holiday, or sick, I was given 2 reasons. So, I call back again and this time I talk to a guy who I think is the owner. Again, I'm told they will be here on one of two days this weekend. He assures me that they'll here Friday or Saturday, and that he would put in a note for Rye to call me and let me know for sure on Friday. Friday comes and NOTHING. No one shows up. My wife and I both call and leave 2 messages to confirm that they are coming and ask if we need to let them into the house to access the attic. No one calls us back. I guess they are out of office for Thanksgiving and Black Friday. I am beyond frustrated with this company. I'm looking into contesting the charge for the work on my American Express and putting in a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I should not have to work this hard to get a simple mistake that this company made fixed. read more

Aspen Roofing has worked with me twice to repair, first, part of my roof, then later, the remainder. They have always been patient and understanding and have done excellent work, including cleanup ---my roof still had what were probably the original shingles from 1915!! The roofers weren't quite as careful with my garden as I would have liked, but they got the job done quickly, efficiently and with a minimum of additional cleanup on my part. The only thing they did ok was the actual job. (installing gutters) They get 2 stars because I had to manage the process. The estimator came to the house and stayed about 5 minutes. He didn't write anything down or take any pictures. This caused problems when it came time to install but we are a long way from there. I put 30% down on the estimate and waited 2 weeks with no call to schedule the job. I called the production supervisor and he quoted me a date out a month which I said was unreasonable so he brought it in for a week out. On the morning they were supposed to do the job, they didn't show up. I had to call and ask where they were. They came up with some lame excuse about scheduling but didn't have one for why they didn't inform me. Then they came to my house with the wrong color gutter (see issue with estimator above) so they had to come back the next day. Oh, and the guys they sent to do the job made my wife a little nervous. Once the job was done (fairly well) I got my invoice that didn't show my 30% pre-payment. I called and they adjusted the invoice. I feel like I should have gotten some kick-back for managing their business process but of course, I didn't. If you want to take on this work for yourself, then by all means use Aspen Roofing. read more

I had an unfortunate experience with another company which gave me a very high estimate and when I cancelled my order with them, they came out while I was away and did the work anyway. I had already given Aspen a deposit to do the needed work, and although they could have been very difficult (as I had signed a contract with them), they easily cancelled my contract with them and even - unknown to me - refunded my deposit. I had Aspen Roofing put a heat trace system in part of my roof and repair/extend a roof over my back patio. Ash was the estimator and Russ was the guy that did most of the work. Their estimate came in higher than I thought it should be ($830) to fix some broken shingles on a small portion of my roof, but I liked the guy who came to do the estimate (I believe his name was Ash) and he seemed to know what he was talking about. The workers showed up at the agreed upon time however I felt a bit like I got bait-and-switched as it was two, possibly illegal, Mexicans who didn't seem to know exacly what they were doing. At one point when I went on the roof to check their work they were adding silicone over the top of nails and acting all nervous and told me they didn't have a statement of work so they weren't exactly sure what they were supposed to be doing. Needless to say this comment concerned me quite a bit. They left without saying a word (couldn't speak good English anyway) and two days later I had shingles already blowing off. After cussing them out they came back and replaced with non matching shingles. read more
