This thrift store was poppin. Tons of people inside, I guess everyone wants to see what the people of Aspen donate. I was able to find a few books that I have been wanting to read here. I also found a very cute Zara vest for my daughter. There are multiple levels so if you do not see something when you first walk in, keep looking. You are likely to find something that you like in here, it's definitely worth stopping by if you are in town, but know it gets picked through very quickly. read more

I absolutely loved this place! So many different unique items high end and selective merchandise. Prices are extremely fair I checked out the other 3 thrift stores in Aspen and prices were so high and way over priced. The staff was very friendly and this store has three different floors! I arrived to this store 10 min before they were closing and there were a lot of people still in there shopping. I planned on leaving before 3:00, which was the time they close. A old lady held the door closed and stopped me from going in and through the glass door said we are closed very rudely. I mentioned that there was still 10 min left before closing and I would leave before you close and she rudely said again we are closed and continued to hold on to the door to prevent me from going in. I believe she was being racist. She was being kind and talking to all the white people around but was so rude to me and I am very Spanish looking. After reading another review where someone else felt like the same lady was being racist towards them. read more

My coworkers and I, all in town for work with a prestigious company, walked in, excited to shop... We were asked to leave our personal bags behind the counter. The old lady said as we were handing them to her, "Thanks for not making a big deal about it." Hmm... I proceed to walk around and notice *every* single customer on the main floor with their own personal bags... including a large backpack. One had 2 personal bags. And my friend mentioned seeing an even larger, personal bag kept by someone when she was downstairs. It needs to be said that for a THRIFT store, which receives DONATED product from the community and does NOT PAY FOR its inventory, to enforce any kind of "bag policy" is absurd. Given that this place is staffed by volunteers and all of their product is GIVEN for them to sell at zero cost beyond operational. There is no "value" to the product beyond the scribbled price they decide to charge because, well, this is a thrift store. So after passing the 6th person allowed to hold on to *their* bags I decided to speak up and call her out on singling out myself and my coworkers/friends. I approached her at the counter as every customer I passed was lining up to pay, with their bags, seemingly ready for me to illustrate this classic racial profiling bullshit that old, white people feel empowered to enforce. Ours were the ONLY bags behind the counter, of ALL the people in the store and we were a quad of design loving minorities. She didn't appreciate being called out and, I'm sure, didn't like my aggressive tone but this staff needs to wake TF up. If you're not applying your arbitrary "bag policy" to EVERYONE, irrespective of the size of the bag, you're not allowed to single out individuals who give you a "bad feeling." It's prejudiced AT BEST and I wasn't one bit concerned with disrupting your store's environment to stick up for myself and for my friends against your GARBAGE policy. It's 2022 and I'm definitely not looking to make America great again. Plus which, I can't imagine this place is insured should an expensive bag be left behind the counter with some random volunteer and suddenly gets damaged(our bags were left on the floor) or goes missing... I did not record this interaction and it is not on social media(at least, to my knowledge) and I don't think we were being recorded. But I hope this makes her think twice before making someone check their bag especially if that person oh, "just happens" to be a person of color. Total BS. WAKE UP! Racism is NOT the move and you racist businesses need to be called out and embarrassed for such antiquated concepts of loss prevention. The store was mentioned several times to me so I finally decided to check it out. What a waste of time. It's a two story store but very packed/ cluttered. This thrift shop has a reasonable amount of selections for both women and men, as well as household goods! The styles for clothing are a bit dated. If you're looking for ski specific items and winter clothes, they have some too. The prices are affordable, with most things under $10. I was hesitant to write a review for the Aspen Thrift Shop because it really is an amazing find, but I'm leaving in a few days and other people should benefit from all the incredible items they have here. I've been to the shop twice and it's probably a good thing I'm leaving soon or else I'll need another suitcase for all the stuff I'm likely to buy here. Prices for most clothing items in the shop are $10 and under. You will find designer brands here. They usually showcase the good stuff they've gotten on the main floor by the registers. Go to the basement for ski wear, men's, sporting goods and housewares. Second floor consists of women's and children's clothing and toys. Main floor has an entire wall of books to choose from for $1-$2 each. Here's what I scored today for under $30: -$10 pair of Joe's Denim Jeans -$10 pair of paperdenim&cloth jeans -2 books for $2 each -2 neck warmers for $1.50 -a pair of tights for $0.50 Of course, it's hit or miss depending on what you're looking for and their inventory changes daily based on the donations they receive. The store is entirely staffed by volunteers and all the proceeds go to local organizations. This is by far the BEST thrift store in terms of price and quality I've ever been to and I've shopped my share of Crossroads and Buffalo Exchange in San Francisco and New York. read more

This is a very cute store in the heart of downtown Aspen. The store is small and quaint, but has an abundance of finds. I found some 5.11 pants that fit me perfectly in the waist and length without alterations (BONUS!) and the best part is that they seemed brand new without tags. When checking out, the ladies are very nice and sweet. You can also grab a bag in the box next to the register is you need one; they even have reusable bags in the box. One thing I didn't like is that the clothing isn't marked with prices so you have to ask how much it is at the register, which I think puts a little extra pressure in purchasing the item, but I'm not going to complain about spending $10 on brand new 5.11 pants. I just have a preference to know the price before I go to the cashier. read more

I stumbled across this place while walking around Aspen on a weekend trip. I had no idea I'd end up shopping in a thrift shop in Aspen. It's right next to the fire station if you're having a hard time finding it. It's fairly small, but has three stories of stuff. Average prices for a thrift shop, and a decent selection of things. I agree with a few other reviewers, I didn't see racks and racks of designer clothes or anything like that.....but I did find myself a nice winter scarf that matched the outfit I had on, and it only cost me $3. If you're willing to dig around for a while, I'm sure you could find some really, really good deals here though. read more

It was an interesting place but not too interesting. Large bags were required to stay at the front, you were given a number like a valet that would be kept behind the counter. My dad is a diabetic who must carry meds with him, which also includes pain pills. He wanted to look but didn't feel comffy giving an unknown person his backpack, so he left. I think the women that work here are super nice and helpful I've never had a problem at the store. Don't listen to those other reviews they're probably just snotty women that come in from the big cities! It's always worth a trip to the Aspen Thrift Shop when in town. While this store has the usual banana republic, J crew, forever 21 type brands, there are always a few hidden treasures. In the past I've scored Spyder ski pants for $30, a vintage YSL wool coat for $20, designer ties for under $5 and a cashmere sweater with mink accents for $40. If you're willing to pick through the junk to find a piece of gold, this is the place to come! read more

One of the best thrift stores I have been to. I read reviews before going and was kind of worried about the comments on how things aren't priced until to check out. This is true, to a point, but they have signs posted with starting price ranges for categories of items. For example, mens casual shirts starting at $3 and so forth. I found some amazing deals, including a near new set of high top Lands End women's snow boots for $20, a mens lightweight Gortex jacket for $10, and a Victoria's Secret bathing suit for $3. Staff was helpful and friendly, and if you've read other reviews you'll know that they are all volunteer, which makes sense that that the hours are 10-3. And sales are donated to charity. How cool is that? Great concept and great finds!!! read more

I do a lot of thrift shopping and unfortunately I agree with the unfavorable reviews. It is strange that they make up the prices when you approach the register. The woman checking me out who seemed stressed and not in the best of moods even changed the price of an item a dollar more just because she forgot what she had told me prior. It's more expensive than other thrift shops I've visited in the area. I actually think you could find better quality for similar prices at near-by consignment shops without the weird attitudes and fluctuating prices. read more

Aspen Thrift Shop is the most incredible thrift-shop you could ever imagine. I would guess it's one of the only places you can find Dolce, Armani, Patagonia, North Face, and tons of other high-end fashion and outdoor brands BARELY USED for $10 and under. How do I know this? PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, PEOPLE. Not even kidding here. Aspen is the haven of rich yuppies from the New York finance scene as well as Hollywood's elites and the Oil tycoons. They like to buy and have the newest things, so they drop off LITERALLY millions of dollars worth of barely worn clothes at the Aspen thrift shop every year. I love the outdoors, so I've been to the shop several times to scour for cheap or discounted outdoor gear - and this place is the jackpot. Patagonia, North Face, Mountain hardware jackets, fleeces, shoes, pants, etc. Ralph Lauren, Fendi, Armani, Gucci whatever you can imagine, too (if you like that sort of thing). I've found countless finds here, and I've only been 2 or 3 times. It's unbelievable the stuff you'll discover. I'm not even kidding. GO to it. It's worth a trip. read more

I have tried going into the Aspen Thrift store so many times, and I have finally given up. Only open 10-3 Monday through Saturday, the hours are so inconvenient. The inventory is in terrible shape, and it is so limited. I have never found anything in this store in about five visits. The worst part is that nothing is priced here, and you have to wait until you check out to find out a price, AKA a made-up price. Seriously unimpressed. read more

I expected more, considering the affluence of the community, but it was just okay. The hours are lousy, 10-3 Monday to Saturday. The organization of the store is also pretty lazy. The clothing isn't arranged by size order so you waste alot of time flipping through everything... Most of the clothing isn't priced, although some expensive pieces near the register do have tags on them. I was mostly looking through the womens' clothing. So, once you've decided on what you want, you proceed to the cashier and hope she (I only saw women at the register) is in a generous mood. As an example, I picked out an Ann Taylor long-sleeve T (which she said would be $4), a zip-front Liz Claiborne cardigan ($4), a black knit turtleneck ($4), and lastly, a cotton 3/4 sleeve fine-gauge cable sweater (which she said was $4 - until she saw the Ralph Lauren tag - then she changed it to $8). I said I would pass on the Ralph Lauren sweater. All the items were in good condition, but I think the lack of price tags, and relying on what the person at the register decides, is kinda stinky policy. The black turtleneck was Prada, in perfect condition. I got a deal but still don't like the way prices are decided. The woman at the register was in a bad mood but the other ladies I encountered were friendly. read more

Forget your ski goggles? need some pool reading? perhaps an armani dress? a suitcase to put all of these things in? you can get it all and more at the Thrift Store. The newly remodeled store sports 3 levels: the basement is home goods and men's clothes, the 1st floor is designer clothing and assorted wares/books, and the 3rd floor is women's and children's. Mind you, this is not the most organized store, and nothing is priced (that's what the friendly ladies at the front counter are for), but it is a BARGAIN. Almost all proceeds go to charity, and you're destined to find a treasure--if you're willing to hunt for it! read more

I am guessing this store is managed by wealthy philanthropists who are generous with their time, but never worked retail in college. Their business hours are 10-3PM most days. Hunh? Ever seen those hours at the mall? If you ski, you usually ski those hours. If you do a spa day, you're normally just finishing up lunch by 230 or 3. My recommendation to the store management: raise the prices a little bit and hire some college kids at minimum wage to work from 3-7PM five days per week and get some additional business. The store could be open during those hours for purchases only, not donations, to make the job easier for the kids. Heck, you probably wouldn't even need to raise the prices - the additional sales would pay for the kids' salaries! read more

Not bad at all. Not huge or anything - kinda strange though because the building is in an excellent location, seems up to code any everything. Ha. Slim pickings, but good prices (after all, you're in Aspen!). Personal testimony - I found two copies of Clue there and they were both complete and she charged me a whole dollar. In a sea of pricy places, this is a bit of an oasis, but keep in mind; when top tier people donate top tier items.. they will still commandeer top tier prices. I love the Aspen Thrift Shop. Founded in 1949, this community clearinghouse -- run 100% by volunteers -- is a gem of authenticity in a town that has changed a lot in the last seven decades. Their mission is "to sell donated goods at affordable prices, to make grants to other non-profit organizations in the Roaring Fork Valley, and to provide scholarships to Roaring Fork Valley area high school graduates." It's my go-to for kitchenware, art supplies, kids clothes and the makings of all our family's Halloween costumes. If your goal is gold digging, this place probably isn't for you. But if you want an authentic community experience run by kickass ladies with sass and heart, plus some true bargains in a very expensive town, then you've come to the right place. read more

Ok what am I missing here!? Was I in the wrong store!? After reading the awesome reviews on here I decided to go up the back way into Aspen while on my way to a weekend getaway in Redstone, CO. The place I walked into was unkempt, dirty and reminded me more of a Goodwill in Commerce City than a chic little thrift store in Aspen. Most of the items were falling off hangars and there wasn't really a rhyme or reason as to where anything was - no sorting by size or color - everything was just all over the place. I am a longtime shopper at the Aspen Thrift Shop, and have gotten the best bargains over the years. The women volunteers are so friendly and helpful, and the prices can't be beat! They are open 6 days a week, Monday through Saturday, 10 - 3. In a town as expensive as Aspen is, it's refreshing to shop in a normal store with prices I can afford. Incredibly rude volunteer today at 2:30 on 6/17/13 who had bargained with someone before me and then with an uncalled for rude tone told me I can't bargain for my items. I told her that I am not trying to be rude but she did bargain with someone else and I was just asking for a couple dollars off and she continued in her rude tone. She could have just said it politely. And lying about it to my face after bargaining with someone else is unacceptable. Our group comes here from Anderson Ranch frequently but I have told them about this treatment. We are not happy about this and how each of us gets treated does matter. read more

My family and I are staying in Crested Butte for a week and decided to make a day-trip to Aspen yesterday. We arrived in the early afternoon and did a little strolling around near the gondolas. We walked down to the Thrift Shop (the only place my dad really wanted to go) and got there at 2:40pm and noticed there was something going on at the front door. One of the volunteers was turning away a customer. We noticed that the hours of business were posted on the window; they were supposed to close at 3pm. We decided that 20 minutes would be long enough to take a quick look around. As we attempted to enter the shop, the volunteer stood in the doorway and turned us away too, stating that they were closed. When we mentioned that the posted closing time was 3pm, she acknowledged that and said it would be "too difficult" to get all of the customers out by then. Meanwhile there were only a couple of shoppers we could see on the first floor. Even when we told her that we were in from Fort Worth, TX and that we'd only be in Aspen for a few more hours, she just kind of shrugged and apologized. We were shocked and couldn't help but feel insulted, as the other potential customers who weren't allowed to enter also expressed to us. According to their website, this thrift shop prides itself on making charitable contributions to local non-profit organizations and scholarship funds. I must admit, it's very noble of them to utilize their proceeds in such a responsbile way. I wish we'd had the opportunity to spend our money there..... But sadly it wasn't convenient for the volunteers. read more

I love that they price by what type of item you're buying rather than putting a price tag on every single item like other local thrift stores do. There's really cool, nice stuff and then there's also junk---its a thrift store. As a working, young adult living in Aspen, I can tell you I've bought a large percentage of my wardrobe here. It all depends on your luck, sometimes you score big and sometimes you cant find a single thing you'd want to buy. I wish the hours were better but the volunteer-based staff members probably already have their hands full with the way it is. read more
