This company is contracted by ComEd to mangle trees around power lines. The employees are terribly rude and act like property laws do not exist. I would never hire this company after interacting with their workers. They trample your garden, use your lawn as a staging place and smoke cigarettes (while throwing butts wherever) directly in front of your open front door. 0/10 don't give this company your business. read more

ComEd should consider using other contractors to do their removals. This has to be the worst tree company out there. They were out twice in July to clear trees from lines after powerful storms. The first time they sat in their trucks for a couple of hours until what I assume was a supervisor until they started working. Supervisor left and the did some work but left without completing. Had to come out 3 times and only completed the work when comed refused to leave until they did their job. Now this time same exact thing. COMed FIRE Ashplund! read more

These guys cut down my neighbors tree. They came on my property and tried to use my tree to tie off to. I told them to leave my property repeatedly and they refused. They called the Sheriff on me. The Sheriff's Deputy told them not to be on my property and left. They then aimed the v cut so it would hit my house and it did (I cut trees professionally in my youth). Luckily I have very hard siding and there was no damage. I was standing in my bedroom window and when the tree came down I had to run to the other side of the room. I heard and felt the tree hit my house. They denied it of course. Do not trust this company! Since there is no damage i can see, this is my only recourse. Despite overwhelming poor reviews, Excel Energy contracted this incompetent company to mitigate tree clearance for new power lines. These folks are far from 'Expert' as their name proclaims. I thought I was speaking with a reputable arborist when I discussed mitigation a couple of days ago (turned out he had no credentials). He assured me minimal branches would be removed. After witnessing the majority of branches removed from my trees, I approached him with obvious tree health concerns. He agreed they likely wouldn't survive and said that was why he suggested removal in the first place. That is a blatant lie! While he did advise tree removal, it was for Excel's selfish purpose only, to avoid having to return in a few years to re-trim; there was no mention of tree health! Asplundh is incompetent and dishonest. This company needs to be shut down immediately before they destroy another homeowner's property! read more

Crew came in suddenly and began removing branches off a beautiful canopy of maple branches in my backyard over driveway. True, some branches were over ComEd power lines but these butchers went way beyond what was necessary to tree trim and now am left with an eyesore. ComEd contracted them to trim some vines at our Condo Association. They arrived, unannounced, forcing neighbors to scramble moving plants and furniture. After an hour of modest effort, foreman advised they would stop for the day because they couldn't reach tall locations (Why arrive unprepared for any contingency?) and resume Monday. I think the state hires them to trim along the power lines. They put the cones so far away from the truck they forced the cars to drive on my lawn. I asked if they could move the cones a little closer to the truck and put a couple of cones on the lawn side. One truck did with no problem but the guy on the other truck said they would be moving along in about 30 minutes. By that time my lawn would be reduced to mud as it rained the day before. I took the initiative and moved them myself. I live on the corner so I don't have a clear view of the side street. There's also a lot of trees and brush on both sides of my chain link fence. I was just along that side the day before picking up branches. The next day after the truck left there were 4 fresh water bottles and a wipe thrown on my side of the fence. read more

Everything that has been reported is accurate & true. Let me add: these assholes are what the word was created for. They are nothing but MFCsucking SOBitches, butchering through neighborhoods for the real schmucks at Commonthief Edison in the name of power protection. The assholes are slaves with tiny nanobrained skulls the size of a skunk. They can't be stopped..............except: One very important Secret can now be revealed: if the property Owner is present & objects to butchering, they cannot trespass on Owner's property without consent (cops called will back you up). They must stop at once until an inspector comes out, which in most cases never happens (until they return every 5 years). I stopped them 5 yrs ago, but this time last week I was away shopping just 2 hours, and like a thief in the night they butchered my NON-intruding, previously properly-trimmed elm & redbud. Too bad 0 Stars is not an option. On 8/16-17/2018, Asplundherers cam through our neighborhood, to trim trees for the power lines in Naperville. The one older guy seemed to be the foreman. He was high in the trees, and yelling fuck this and fuck that. My next door neighbor took her kids in. They cut more than necessary, and left a full day's worth of cleanup for me. They also cut one bush completely flush with the ground, and cut two feet out of a mature trumpet vine of mine, as an obvious big screw-you statement. Yesterday they showed up unannounced and started hacking away at a tree in my backyard despite my objections. The man in charge refused to show me his credentials and called our silver maple tree "a weed." So rude. Even though we recently had the tree trimmed by a reputable company, he said the branches had to be 4 feet from the wires and that they were the only company that could trim trees near power lines. ComEd contracted them out to clear some branches from some wires. They made a mess in my yard. Branches and leaves everywhere. I had to spend an hour cleaning up after them and they piled everything they cut down in my front yard where they still sit over 24 hours later. I talked to a supervisor in person this morning (He was next door to getting an earful from my neighbor) and he assured me it would be taken care of right away. It hasn't. A few years ago I happened to be home when they were doing routine pruning for high wires. I spoke with the English speaking member of the group and emphasized that I didn't want young trees topped. He assured me it wouldn't happen then climbed up a 20' tree and topped it! Enraged, I ordered them out of my trees and off my property. Surprise - they HAVE to leave when ordered... Go ahead and do so when they screw with you! They sent out two supervisors to "calm the crazy woman" during that afternoon. Both were very nice and I found that these teams didn't need to have an arborist or even someone with training on the crews. These workers know nothing about trees! Nor do they have any human compassion... Yesterday they came out to do late winter pruning and cut down limbs containing squirrel nests. Squirrels give birth in February. They chipped infant squirrels. Even if you don't like the furry little rodents, what does this say about the employees of this company? Dragged the branches down MY DRIVEWAY and MY YARD and left all the small branches thru MY YARD while giving my wife attitude because they were too lazy to have the truck in front of the right house. I am not at all pleased. ComEd hired them to do tree work in our area. ComEd marked the trees that needed to be trimmed or removed and that totaled three. Asplundh took down more than twice that amount. They damaged both of our metal sheds jamming one set of doors inside the shed, out of the track. They left cigarette butts on the lawn and empty water bottles in an empty flower pot. They wouldn't discuss it at our home that day implying they didn't speak English. After several weeks, I accepted a deal for them to finish removing one they left unfinished and take out all trimmings. They cut the tree and left the cuttings. Feeling they had broken our agreement I called and they sent someone else out. I told them a dollar amount I'd accept to repair the shed roofs, He said a super would come out. No one ever did. After another call to them. The man, who said his name was Jose, made an appt to come out at 11:00 on Friday. I waited 45 minutes. They never came and never called. That, to me was the worst of it all. I called, spoke with a woman, than a man yet whatever they were doing I couldn't understand/hear a word he said and he hung up. My email has gone unanswered. If I could give 0 stars I would. ComEd sent a message out two months ago that they would be trimming back trees in my area. I waited and nobody showed so I let my PROFESSIONAL arborist to come out for our scheduled tree trimming and had him pull my tree back the required 12 feet. A week later Asplundh shows up and insists they needed to pull the tree back an additional 12 feet because that was what they were contracted to do. Idiots can't do math. They were very rude. Their supervisor called my 100 year old mulberry a "weed". They put one truck on my parkway leaving ruts and managed to block in both my and my neighbor's driveway with another one. I felt the need to ostentatiously take "before" photos and then stand outside while they did their butchery to make sure they did not just cut limbs in half like they did the neighbors' trees. Let's start with an analogy: You go for a manicure and you come home missing your arms. And Asplundh is not accountable to property owners. They are only accountable to the utility (Salt River Project, in this case) that has contracted with them. Almost a guarantee that you will loose parts of trees that are in no way going to interfere with the power lines. Yeh, I like electric power at my house as much as my neighbors do, but really, they don't need to trim over 20 feet away from line and parts of the tree that would never grow near the line. I failed to document my tree before and after, but there are pics on the web showing how they over "trim" and I doubt they are photoshopped. I have no other reason to write this other than venting and sharing the horror of Asplundh tree "trimming" with the rest of the Yelp world. Shade in the sunniest (SW) corner of my yard is spotty now, diminished by at least one half. It's an Acacia which is pretty resilient tree here in the desert, though it will take at least 2 years for parts to sort of fill in. However, It will be grotesquely deformed forever.
