Unfortunately the pick up process is a nightmare. You have to sign in on a sheet in the optometry department. Then wait for who knows how many little kids to spend hours picking out glasses. The employees don't multitask while helping customers who are rudely taking forever. They should be making appointments, and have a staff member retrieving orders at the very least. There were two optometry employees ignoring the list of waiting customers. I waited over an hour just to pickup my glasses which took less than 30 seconds. This is the dumbest waste of time process. You can easily go cherry-pick the sign in sheet and take care of customers just picking up glasses. read more

I've had a very frustrating experience with Associate Eye Care. I first tried progressive lenses with the understanding that I could switch to reading lenses if I couldn't adjust. After several visits between the Woodbury and Stillwater offices, multiple prescription rewrites (the first of which was written up incorrectly), and even being told that "Warby Parker trained my eyes not to fit their prescription," I still don't have usable glasses. I was also never reimbursed for switching from progressives to readers. After all this, Associate Eye Care has lost my business--this will be my last visit with them in the future. I would highly recommend to shop around for other eye clinic. read more

Great Eyecare! Been going there for 43 years. These are the best people to care for your eyes. They saved my young son's eyesight 43 years ago and have been our only Eyecare ever since. Treated me for a stroke in my eye 15 years ago and cararact surgery 4 years ago was a breeze! I have good vision, only need cheaters for reading only. We were recommended here by our primary doctor for an eye exam. So far, everything's been great. Exams are thorough. Doctors and staff have been welcoming, friendly, and professional. Will literally never come back solely because of DR WU. Every single other person I've dealt with in person or on the phone has been absolutely amazing, kind, and helpful. Went in for a comprehensive exam, while also wanting to discuss why I had been having double vision every once in a while. Went through the standard eye exam, then dr wu came in for the last 5 minutes. He was rude, dismissive, had me look at a letter H on the wall while he covered one eye, then the other. "Diagnosed" me with adult strabismus, told me I had to get further testing through a medical doctor, and sent me on my way. I have VSP but not medical insurance currently, which exams are to be covered by VSP. When I was checking out, the nice ladies literally mentioned they hoped dr Wu didn't check this as a medical appointment because they even knew it wasn't one. They looked, confirmed it wasn't, so I paid the copay for VSP, and left. I then ended up getting a bill for almost $700 a few weeks later, saying that appointment was a "level 4" which apparently is a medical appointment. Upon calling, the nice lady I spoke to literally said "yeah, I see absolutely no evidence of why this would have been labeled as a level 4." So she told me she was going to take care of it and contact dr Wu to change it. Well, I got another bill in the mail. Called today, and he apparently DENIED that request. FOR WHAT REASON?!?! Even the person I spoke to today felt bad for me because she knows it's BS. Even when I came in to see a pediatric doctor like I was told by this...man, (which I paid a lot of money for out of pocket and wasn't even given answers at all whatsoever) she straight up told me to not use the prescription Dr Wu gave me, and to use the one she prescribed. So, is he like apparently always completely out of line like this? Seems like everyone isn't surprised at his behavior and they seem to not even like him themselves. I'm absolutely livid at this situation, and just because he wants to be on a power trip, I get to pay a lot of money for a literal comprehensive eye exam and NOTHING more. THANKS DR WU! read more

I have been going to AEC for several years and have always appreciated the care given. However, I was disappointed to see that they are now a grubbing business that has decided to charge their patients a 3% fee for credit card usage. Regardless if you want to use a credit card for your exam, co-pay or new glasses - all of it is penalized with a 3% fee. I paid my co-pay with a credit card but opted to not purchase new glasses there because of their fee penalty. I got new glasses at another location without this ridiculous credit card penalty. Shameful practice when everyone is struggling. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS: By far the worst service ever given from any eye clinic or business in general. The doctors, staff, or billing department don't speak to each other. I made a claim against one of my services, was told to rip up the bill and it would be taken care of, later to find out they did not take care of it and collection agencies were after me and it ruined my credit. Dr. Wu, Dr. Lang, and their billing department took zero responsibility for the 9 months of lies and failed promises by their billing department. read more

The old location was much more convenient for me, but I really like my doctor and don't mind the drive to Woodbury. The new location is really spacious and quite nice. They have a huge waiting area, and a really nice eyeglass section. I checked in and waited about 5 minutes to be called back. They are well staffed and the wait was short. Everyone from the check-in staff to the physician were all nice. The physician took the time to explain things, and listened to my concerns. I highly recommend Associated Eye Care! read more

Very poor service! My grandson has been waiting for over 4 months for his eye glasses and he's only 5 years old. Ya think they wouldn't make him wait this long!! I've been going here for years. Like any clinic, it has its annoyances. I think the fees for contact lens fittings go up every time I'm here. I never buy contacts or glasses here because I feel like the fees they charge give me sticker shock. And there have been times it has taken me forever to be seen despite making an appt. However, that's not always the case. My last appt I was in and out. They seem to have appt times that work for me. The staff is friendly and helpful and the eye dr's are too. Of course every clinic isn't without problems but I like this one and continue to go here for my family. I've been to many clinics over the years and I continue to go here because it's mostly a painless visit. Yes sometimes the wait time is busy, but the last few years I've seen that improve. I've never had a horrible experience and I've seen multiple dr's and they've all been helpful. read more

I moved over to Associated Eye Care from Pearl Vision and it was the best move I have ever made. I had an eye infection that turned out to be pretty serious. They had a great staff and Dr. Cappelle and Dr. Lang were able to correctly diagnose and fix the issue. I am very thankful for their help and support. read more

Anytime you go to an optometrist and they refuse to give you your pupil distance because you are not buying glasses there, that is an optometrist you want to avoid. Dr. Rogers, here at Associated refused to provide me with my pupil distance at my appointment today. This was my first and last time here. In addition to not giving me my pupil distance, this practice misbilled my eye exam so that I would be forced to pay an office co-pay in addition to other charges. They sent me a letter stating that they could not give me the prescription without the additional charges. What is odd is that I used to use Christenson Vision Center in Hudson, Wisconsin, with the exact same insurance coverage, and it cost me nothing to get the exam. I can't emphasize enough how I would NEVER USE THIS PLACE AGAIN!!! read more

I have been seeing Dr Ann Hickson for the past 3 years and in that time she and her colleagues have been incredibly helpful. I suffered from double vision and she was able to make a difference for me immediately! She is thorough, an excellent listener and wonderful diagnostician. I have always felt cared for whenever I come for an appointment. Her staff is welcoming and thorough as well. The variety of eye glassware is exceptional and the measurements for new glasses associated with my condition we taken with no mistakes. When I received my glasses I could see beautifully with no problems. THAT was awesome! I highly recommend this practice! read more

Went with my daughter and the front desk lady was super sweet, but the lady who is in charge of the glasses was rude and inconsiderate. Dr Hickson has always been wonderful and even told us to come in and take a look at the glasses. We were told to just stop in, but this ignorant mean nasty lady refused to let us look because we did not have an apt (contrary to what the more educated doctor told us) and kept saying she is not clocked in so we can't look at the glasses. Needless to say that lady who worked the morning of 5/5/2021 just cost associated eye care a families business and we will not ever recommend anyone to visit that location or store. She should be fired, the worst customer service we have ever received. Also we were the only customers in the place, so it was not like they were busy and just could not accommodate, even the receptionist was confused with the rude responses. read more

Went in for routine exam, when they told me they did not take my eye med insurance I told them I was so sorry to waste their time, tried to leave explaining I didn't want to be seen if my visit was not covered by insurance. I had one hand on the door and the front desk associate told me to wait and proceeded to tell me they could code as medical and it would be covered, I made a point to repeat 3 times that I didn't want to be seen if the visit wouldn't be covered, she assured me it would. A few weeks later I was served a $400+ bill as my insurance did not cover the exam or fitting. When I tried to argue the complaint the "Board" said they were not at fault and only offered to bring the bill down less than $50. Myself and family of 5 will no longer be giving this clinic any business, I would not recommend. read more

This review is for the entire Associated Eye Care practice, not specifically this location. Note that the doctors in the Associated Eye Care practice rotate their schedules to various locations of the practice, so this is relevant to this location. 1. Misrepresents pricing 2. Unusual billing format - doesn't make any sense, to say the least - even to accountants 3. Business office can not explain billing and say they will have someone call back who can explain it. However they do not return calls giving any explanation, never did get explanation from them even after numerous phone calls over a few months time. 4. Follow up appointments after surgery were to be included in cost, though I received bill of more than $500 for a follow-up appt. This was after I affirmed that there would be no charge for follow up appointment when making that appointment & tried to affirm at appointment. A direct answer would not be provided during appointment & they kept me waiting more than 2 hours.. 5. When I had an early follow up appointment for eye surgery, Dr. Park strongly was recommended surgery on the other eye. 6. They would not provide my records to my primary ophthalmologist although the request was made at least twice. I wanted their opinion re additional surgery. On the next follow up appointment Dr. Park had a complete change of opinion regarding recommending surgery on the other eye. 7. I'm still having problems with my vision, however, I cannot say for certain if its related to the surgery or not. 8. They will not submit their entire bill to an insurance company for processing. Although they were clear that part of the surgery cost would not be covered by insurance, which I agreed to and isn't an issue, they would not submit that portion of charges to insurance which I believe needs to be done so the insurance can deny so it can be reimbursed from HCRA and/or deducted for tax purposes. read more

It seems odd to me that another review mentioned not getting their script since they weren't buying from them. They don't care about that. I've never had an issue getting scripts form them to use elsewhere. I've never had any issues w/ insurance and depending on your insurance, most of the time there IS a co-pay even if you've got coverage. The doctors have been great but they start out the morning behind and you'll be waiting a LONG time. One shouldn't have to wait a half hour past an appt. first thing in the morning. So it's a mixed bag. Good doctors but poor management of scheduling and this is coming from over a decade of going there. Were it not for the doctors, I'd look elsewhere. read more

I had called to schedule a routine eye exam and got in a few weeks later. When I got the bill I was stunned to see how large the bill was for a routine visit. They had charged me a new patient exam (I am a patient of record) and very little of the routine eye exam was covered. When I called I was told that they charge a new patient exam if it has been 3 years or more (I have the paper work that states to only come every 3 years written by the doctor). She then stated to call my insurance since she couldn't do anything about the large bill. My insurance stated that they should have booked me with a Optometrist and not a Ophthalmologist since it was just a routine exam. Instead of being billed as a preventive service they then proceed to bill it as a medical bill, which requires a deductible. So make sure to double check when making your appointments as it seems there is some insurance fraud going on here. read more
