I have a lot of dental anxiety (even though I'm only 20), but it was completely extinguished the minute I walked in the door.

Dr. Khan is spectacular. He made the absolute best of a horrible situation. I could not have asked…read morefor a better service and treatment of my pulled tooth. This was during the pandemic and he seemed to take COVID-19 more seriously than other places. A year after the pandemic the place has good practices with air sanitizers, masking, and cleaner. Every visit was professional and people were in a good mood. Only note I have does not have to do with Dr. Khan. I came here because another place pulled my tooth. I refused to go back after I found out that an option was to redo the root canal. Yes, that's possible even if it's already been root canaled. The other place did not explain that an implant is a "best we can do" replacement, not an exact replacement of a real tooth with your original gum outline. Dental insurance does not cover an implant, and they made it seem like it would be more cost effective if I get it pulled. I can afford a few grand to keep all my original body parts! Point is a retreatment should be done, the chances of it failing are not 100%, a tooth pulling should not be the next option after a root canal. I still have some random light discomfort. I would have no problem getting an implant if a retreatment failed, but because of a bad second opinion, I have a fake tooth with me until am dead, or medical science figures out how to grow teeth again. To be clear, the place that pulled my tooth put me in this situation, and Dr. Khan was not involved in that. He was excellent and I have already recommended someone to him. I wish I went to him when I had the problem tooth so I could have saved it even for only a dozen more years.

I had my teeth cleaned and it was great service. The office team was very friendly and helpful…read more When done with cleaning Dr Khan always comes in to check on me and looks at X-ray's and my mouth to make sure I know how my teeth look and what will be needed in the future. I was referred to Dr Khan by a very good friend and I'm very happy that I went to him.

BACKSTORY Been looking for a backup or new dentist because I…read morehave been feeling 85/100% happy with the office of the one I have been using in 2025... and I am open to options. I am also trying to use up residual benefits for my dental insurance and needed to squeeze in a final checkup, cleaning and some newer full mouth x-rays as well as some composite fillings to help the wear coming thru on some molars (from grinding) ... yeah, yeah, I have 2 mouthguards and use them... anywhoo back to the story. PRACTICE & APPOINTMENT Found one on Cigna's site at this "Smiles of AH" practice and specifically called ahead to make an appointment with her... she had a great ranking on it as affordable (in-network) and with good reviews from patients. She was featured predominantly on the "Meet the Team" page. PRELIMINARY IMPRESSION / PAPERWORK / REMINDER CALLS Inquiry submitted via message applet on their website with my service request message and contact/Insurance information... awaited a response the next AM and did not receive one... so I called in about 4:30pm or so, just prior to close. FLAGS F1. Admin did not see/know about the email sent in... said sometimes there is a delay. F2. Requested Cigna in-network Dentist was "not taking these types of appointments anymore" (?) ... what does "Accepting New Clients" mean? F3. About to hang up without a Cigna dentist ... then Admin said there WAS another dentist - Dr. Kripka that was supposedly in-network that had availability - and would honor network prices... (Note: Cigna said there was no such name in their database of contracted dentists when I called in after the appointment for a specific concern... will get back to that later) F4. Also seems 2/4 of the older dentists all over the site and walls don't work there anymore... Dr. Kripka was brought in to replace one of them, but wasn't on the site aspart of the team... so concerning? LOCATION & AMBIANCE & EQ Conveniently close in a downtown AH locked commercial building that requires a buzz in at the entry foyer. Office looks newly occupied with minimal decor that had odd vibes... the x-ray machine was portable on wheels with a handheld scanner vs. the regular attached ceiling arm which was new - but the bitewings were not nearly as painful so a W. Let's see the quality of the results. APPOINTMENT & FOLLOWUP Someone with a name like Danielle called the confirm the appointment the next morning and berating me about not filling the paperwork yet (paperwork *I* had asked to be sent during the appt setting) ... while a symphony of pots and pans behind her made it difficult to hear. After repeatedly asking her to take me off speaker, got annoyed at being told it was her headset... JFC we all went thru a pandemic working remote, don't gaslight me... who doesn't know how headsets work? It was also a day ahead of the appointment and I had time to finish it later that night... which I did. SERVICE, CHECKOUT & BILLING Appointment went okay... I've had much better cleanings. This was a 7 maybe... felt barebones checkup, cleaning with vibrating head cleaner drill then the polish with non-minty (expired?) mint paste. Teeth did not feel refreshed at all. F5. Pocket Check was never dictated... Dr Kripka said she had all the measurements in her head and would chart them while writing up the summary & scripts... that's 96 (3 numbers per 32 teeth) printed at a 1pt font... asked for an electronic version sent. NOTE: based on Cigna published rates an INACCURATE pre-treatment estimate... 3x what their site stated as costs for in-network. Current dentist had the pre-authorization and cost to be half of this place. Could be wrong - they scribbled in a bunch of other calculations. Who TF want this kind of business process? Also... when I requested copies of MY OWN documents and x-rays and charting emailed to me ... 2 separate times (at checkout) and via phone... the office manager "Jackie" and the admin "Jackie" and the phone person "Anna" asked me to fill out a form... WTAF nonsense is this? Am I asking myself to release my information to myself?! They got it after asking someone. OMG. Follow a process r workflow without knowing what the purpose is?!!! AI is going to seriously take over a portion of this generation Z.
