I chose Sand Lake Dermatology Center after a negative experience with another clinic. The reviews…read moreare great so I felt like this would be a good choice and so far after two appointments, I really like this clinic and Dr Mailer. Before coming to Sand Lake Dermatology I had a biopsy at another clinic and was scheduled to have a carcinoma removed. I was unable to have this done at the other clinic so I booked the first appt available with Sand Lake Dermatology which was set for the end of July. Once I was able to get my records sent to the clinics, a staff member called me right away and moved my appointment to have a carcinoma removed from my face to last week. Because of the interactions I had over the phone and online with this clinic, I felt comfortable having this clinic remove the carcinoma even though I had not even seen the clinic nor doctor. While I was mildly aware of what the procedure entailed, the staff that prepared me answering questions and numbing me(Marisol and Aaron) were great and made me feel comfortable. Dr Mailer was just as nice and made me feel comfortable. I was of course aware of the dr performing the procedure, I couldn't see it and didn't feel it. The procedure is called Moh's procedure where they typically cut away the determined margin around the affected area, bandage you up and let the patient wait in the lobby while the removed specimen is being reviewed in the onsite lab. If the lab determines that not enough was removed to show clear margins, the patient is brought back in and the dr removes more repeating the process until margins are clear. In my case, the dr removed all that needed to be removed leaving clear margins so after the lab results returned after a couple of hours, I was brought back into the procedure room and the dr proceeded to stitch up my wound applying dissolving stitched under the skin and removable stitches outside. My appointment for follow up and outer stitches removal was set for one week later( this past Tuesday). I was prescribed a heavy antibiotic and advised to keep Vaseline on the stitched up area and keep it covered with a bandage that is changed daily. Once I was stitched up, I mentioned a growth I have noticed on my eyelid and the dr suggested that on my follow up appointment she would take a biopsy. So this past Tuesday I had stitches removed, the area where I had stitches seems to be healing well and it doesn't appear that there will be a heavy scar. I am happy to see this as the area that was removed was quite large and the area stitched was quite long. The nurse, Natalie numbed my face, the stitches were removed and I didn't feel anything. They also numbed my eyelid so the biopsy could be taken. This is a sensitive area so this was a bit more intense but it went quickly and the biopsy was done. I will likely have results next week. What could have been a high anxiety first procedures (I've never had any surgery or stitches) turned out to be a pretty smooth experience. I recommend consideration of Sand Lake Dermatology as the staff and Dr Mailer were great, the waiting room is comfortable and even the staff that manages scheduling, check in, check out, nurses, physicians assistants all made me feel important, individual and taken care of. I wish all medical experiences could be similar to what I experienced.

The doctor has gotten too busy & has more nurse practitioners for new clients. If you wait too long to see him, more than 2~3 years without an appointment, you lose him for regular checkups, & then have to see the NPs instead. He might still perform surgery though if needed for you. Appointments can take months of waiting. Front desk might call back to request health insurance information again. They lost it the first time. To remind you of an upcoming appointment, they call twice to confirm. I prefer working directly with Dr. Moskowitz, due to better communication & better results with him in the past. He's fantastic. I trust his medical skills. Very few good medical & dental professionals in Central Florida, versus South Florida.

OK, on to the actual medical experience (lol). My friend recommended Moskowitz to me and even though it was a bit of a trek away (Oviedo), the rec was hearty enough that I made a much-needed appointment for me and the hubs. As a new patient, I didn't know if they'd be able to fit me in quickly as I had a mole that was looking reeeeeally funky and worrisome. My initial call was easy and left me feeling so valued as they fit me in a week prior to the original date they gave me when she found out I was concerned about a particular mole. After accidentally going to their old location, I finally got to the building and was blown away. The lobby area is VERY lux and I felt like I was on vacation. Trust me- you'll get it when you're there. I filled out some quick forms and was called in right on time. Carla and Lisette were the nurses who got me started before and after my provider, Alicia Nuñez (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner) saw me. I had a great time chatting with Carla and Lisette and they put me at ease. It's crazy how much this makes a difference when you're stressing. I'm so thankful for their warmth! And then APRN Nuñez took a thorough scan of my body and was so gentle with me as she took some biopsies (I let them know I have a vasovagal response sometimes and faint, so they got me apple juice). Afterwards, I was able to purchase a few items from their store (off to the side of the lobby) to care for my biopsy areas over the next few weeks. I was pleased to see that the prices were low. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my new derm. I'll definitely be recommending them!

The front office clerk was one of the nicest humans I have ever met. About 7 minutes after my appointment I heard her asking if anyone from my doctor's team was available because I had been waiting. They did come about 5 minutes after so I appreciated her keeping on top of it!! My exam went smoothly and I felt comfortable the entire time. They have 2 people in the room to ensure exams are done correctly. Parking is free in the lot of the building - behind the building is pay so make sure you go in the garage. :)

Once you arrive, you have to drive 4-5 flights up the garage just to park and then you have to take the elevators to the 5th floor. So keep that in mind. The place is clean and the staff are friendly. But I still don't like derm offices lol sorry. Just came to bring my son though. 3 stars for this location because the parking situation super sucks and the fact that the bathroom is out in the hall-key you have to get from front desk for the men's and it's a code for the women's. Sorry yes these little things irk me. My time is extremely pressed always so all these little things just make it difficult for me to do things quickly since it's already kinda far from me.

They had me me come back in to remove the stitches and the wound immediately opened up. Instead of stitching it back up, they told me to wait for it to close up.. Now I have huge scar on my arm because of them and it took forever to heal. I would avoid them for anything that's not minor cosmetics.

They wanted my insurance information beforehand so I gave it.. I left the office then they billed my insurance causing me to have to pay a deductible. I called management, they apologized then refunded my money. I should have filed with the BBB then but didn't. I went in this year for my annual free skin check & had to go back the week after because I thought that I forgot to ask about a spot & they dI'd it again twice. $640 for 5 minutes of their time. This time I've called for a manager 6 times to get this straightened out with but they keep playing games & sweeping me under the rug wasting my time. The receptionist even told me that there is no boss of the Clermont office manager lol STAY AWAY FROM CLERMONT ADVANCED DERMATOLOGY. This time I'm filing a complaint with the BBB & disputing their charges with my insurance.
