We were on vacation in Florida and I somehow had a huge allergic reaction and they were able to squeeze me in within an hour of calling for an appointment. I saw their nurse practitioner Wendy Alvarez and she was a delight. She was extremely professional and prompt with my diagnosis which was so reassuring. No one wants an allergic reaction rash while on vacation in sunny Florida. The front desk staff and waiting room are very friendly and clean. Needing a skin scan for cancer because, well, it's Florida, I chose Derrow DA because of my medical plan and the practice's rating. Since Sept was the earliest to see the highly rated Dr Wit (and it's March as I write the review), I gladly accepted a next day appointment with an available PA, Annie Cabrera, PA-C. Ms. Cabrera conducted the scan with professionalism yet putting me at ease with her smile and explanations and names of the different types of skin abnormalities. Thoroughness and a ready willingness to answer questions also added to my comfortability. The office is located in a house-like building that is modern on the inside as well as outside. A dedicated parking lot is located directly across the street, which is necessary since the street is narrow and The Park School is nearby. Check-in for my appointment was easy as was paying my co-payment. I plan on returning next year. read more

Not worth 1 star. Horrific experience is an understatement. I arrived early for my appointment, completed new patient intake forms (which really should be sent out prior to the appt.!), and waited and waited. Finally after 45 minutes, I approached the desk to inquire what was going on and how much longer of a wait will I have. The receptionist pulls up my information and then proceeds to state that we "made a boo-boo". Really? No apologies, left me standing there. I finally sat back in the reception area and waited another 10 minutes. No one approached me to apologize, give an update...NOTHING. The lack of customer service is appalling. Not to mention, I had to hear complaints from the staff about how tired they were and that they needed coffee. I asked for a refund and walked out. Still no apology. There are plenty of dermatology offices in Orlando. Choose wisely. read more

These morons. Saw a patient after they called and asked "do you take my insurance?" All insurance info was provided IN ADVANCE. "Yes", they replied. So, the patient went. Services were rendered, the patient paid a copay and departed. A week later they called. "Oops" they said. "We don't actually take your insurance" you owe us $500". No. No they don't. You misled the patient. You failed in your due diligence to verify benefits. You screwed up and they're not responsible for that. Learn how to run your business. read more

This place was amazing! Doctor Witt knows what she is doing, and took the time to address all of my questions and issues. I can't get over how much better this office was compared to other dermatologists I have seen locally. A+ I've seen other reviews complaining about long wait times to see the doctor and also about the doctor being too quick. Use your head guys. Either the doctor is too quick in an effort to see a ton of patients, and then you get the short wait time, or she takes as long as she needs, which means she can be behind schedule and wait times are longer. It's one or the other. Wise up and pick your poison. read more

She removed skin cancer after I had to show her where it was, ( this was after my first visit and I came in for the surgery. ) She made a circular cut to remove the cancer rather than a long, thin incision that would heal well. The incision finally healed, but the scar is extremely ugly and large on my arm. Very unhappy with this practice. read more

I have been going to this practice for over a year. As a tennis player I obsess a little about keeping myself free of skin cancers. Both Dr Witt and Nikki are fantastic. Personable and thorough. They listen to my concerns and I find it easy to get in if a new spot emerges. They are clear in their explanations on what needs to be done or walking me through my first botox epxerience. Just recently went for my first. All the woman there were super nice and friendly. And listened to everything I asked.

WOW. What a disappointment... AGAIN. The short of it: - The doctors rush you and are disrespectful. (Not mean or rude, but disrespectful). - Be prepared to wait. - If you want care and attention for your problem, go somewhere else. The long of it: I went in for my yearly skin exam, plus several questions I wanted to get answers to in order to prevent problems down the road and improve the overall state of my skin. I waited AN HOUR for an appointment that lasted about 10 mins. Dr. Laurie Fashakin performed my skin check, recommended a product for which she gave me no instructions on how/when to apply, and was in such a hurry to get out of the room that she depressed the door handle IN THE MIDDLE OF ME ASKING A QUESTION, gave a quick response as if to brush a bug off her shoulder and made her way out. I've never been treated with such disdain by a doctor; and that is such a disappointment for an office that pretends to be as upscale as this place. I called the office manager to speak with her about my visit. She was very attentive and asked that I come back to see Dr. Amy Witt so that my questions could be answered. So, there I went to give them a second chance!... and there I left feeling even worse... This time, Dr. Witt treated me with a bit more regard, by looking at my skin care products and walking me through a couple more things. But, again, she also was in such a hurry to leave me that she OPENED THE DOOR IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR CONVERSATION AND SPOKE TO ME WITH HALF OF HER BODY OUT OF THE ROOM! (I'm sorry, but does this not break patient confidentiality by letting the ladies outside of the room listen into my appointment???) Ultimately, I made up my mind about not coming back when Dr. Witt ended my appointment by responding to my exfoliation inquiry by saying that "there are some chemical exfoliators, but [I] could even just use a physical exfoliator like St. Ives"...... !!!!!!! (for those of you that don't know about St Ives exfoliators: they are extremely harsh and cause long-term skin damage.) In essence, this place seems to pretend to care. With their plethora of providers, clean space, modern equipment, and multitude of samples, they seem to be getting patients through the door only to prescribe and defer you to other providers, but don't care to actually make you better. I felt a lot like a quick buck. read more

I would never recommend this practice to anyone who asks. they didn't treatment my daughter and resolve any issues with us and then refused to refund us the $200+ we paid for essentially one visit because they made us return. there wasn't any service provided that resolved this issue and on top of it no one from the office would get back to us -- literally called more than four times only to get a very snooty, disrespectful, nasty female billing representative who didn't even have the courtesy to answer with her name provide any information or help. whoever raised this person should be ashamed of themselves. its hard enough to deal with the healthcare industry because people like this make life hard for the rest of us. you couldn't pay me to go back to this place. Came here today to my husband to be seen for what we believed was a sebaceous cyst on his neck. He was seen by Laurie Fashakin. She Was extremely knowledgeable and showed compassion. She confirmed it was a sebaceous cyst and gave him a shot to calm the swelling and pain. She instructed us to come back once it was less swollen and red so she can remove it. We'll definitely be back! This office is also very clean, organised and bright. They also do injections and anything skin related! read more

My daughter was seen in the practice for a severe painful dermatology breakout and the product that they were prescribing (unfortunately the provider knew would not be covered under insurance) BUT never indicated on the script to "provide" an alternative product . I'm a new patient and had a great experience. Making an appointment was easy; I was given the open to see a PA if I wanted to get in sooner and they emailed me my paperwork ahead of time so that I could complete it prior to arrival. When I arrived this morning, I was greeted and even though I had to wait a bit prior to being seen, it was not an excessive wait as others have experienced. The techs were respectful and extremely courteous. My PA, Laurie, was great and extremely helpful. As a patient, I was relieved to see a diverse patient population with various skin tones. I was out of the office and on my way well within 90 minutes, which is typically what I would alot for a new patient intake. read more

Went in for my yearly skin check, this is my third visit, first two times I was pleased with the service, this last time- not so much. I felt rushed and when I asked questions, dismissed. Tried to have a prescription filled, same as last year, wasn't listened to, it was called in to the pharmacy with a cost of $140, when last year I received it through the mail for $25. Again if I was listened to this would not have happened. I called three days ago and left a vm, never received a call back - apparently I am just not that important to them so I'll have to go elsewhere next year. read more

I will certainly never come back here for any treatment of any kind. Look elsewhere for dermatologists. Took my son here to treat small warts on his hand. Felt rushed every time. Kept doing painful freezing treatments that were obviously not working. Didn't believe in immunotherapy for treating them. Thankfully, my old dermatologist who wasn't taking on new patients at the time took him on and used immunotherapy, which cured his warts. This dermatologist had also treated patients that came from Derrow's practice who were unhappy with their care. Her father, Dr. Derrow is a physician and he is awesome. His daughter however, not so much. read more

This isn't a review for the doctors but for the staff in the front of house. My experience with this place has been appalling since day one because of the nurses I've had to deal with. First of all, they schedule you for a MONTH out and at the most bizarre times of day (2:10PM?!) and when you call to reschedule they make it sound like an incredible inconvenience for them as if they don't have to click three buttons on their computer and its done. I was in tears on the phone with them today because of the horrible pain that I've been experiencing since my first treatment and they weren't phased by this and decided to keep accusing me of things I "haven't done." I asked for a copy of my medical records and they wouldn't give it to me without a signed medical release (which I did fill out on my first visit on purpose) and continued to harass me about that. When I asked them to email it to me so I can fill it out and send it back she didn't even have my email on file. Why did I have to spend 15 minutes of my time in their lobby filling out paper work if you aren't even going to input it into the computer? When I called back to let them know that I've sent my records over, they told me that it takes 3-5 business days to send me them via email. How in the world thats possible I can't even begin to imagine. Do not let these ladies walk all over you! Stand your ground (that is if you really really desire to wait a MONTH to see your doctor....... but I'll save that for another time) read more

Can NOT recommend. I live within 15 min of office. I called 45 minute AHEAD of my appointment to learn if doctor was running on time or late. I learned she was 20 min behind. I informed receptionist I'd arrive 20 min. AFTER my scheduled time and ended call. I got a call from office manager 5 min. later informing me that arriving late was UNacceptable and IF I DID, I'd be informed that my appointment was cancelled. I needed to be ON TIME and wait. Like a good little patient. I hung up the phone, DID NOT GO, and selected another dermatologist from my insurance. The end. read more

Dr. Amy Derrow and her staff are extremely professional. It makes going to the dermatologist a pleasure. I recently went in as a new patient for an annual skin check. I was seen right at my appointment time, and greeted immediately by the nurse. The exam rooms and office were very clean, and it didn't take long for the doctor to be in my room. Dr. Derrow has a warm, inviting personality, and she is very knowledgeable. I was in and out in under an hour, and had all of the prescriptions I needed. I've done 2 Cool Sculpting cycles with Karen at Derrow Dermatology and I couldn't be more satisfied. She was so easy to work with and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. When I initially came in for my consultation I was so nervous, but she let me know all the risk and reassured me everything will be ok, and it was better than ok; my results are phenomenal! Literally one of the best experiences with body contouring I've ever had. My "love handles" (or what she calls flanks lol ) were so stubborn and no matter how much I diet and exercise they wouldn't budge, until now. I decided to get Cool sculpting for my wedding and honeymoon and started my session a little late for optimal results, but Karen has continuously made time for me, creating a safe and efficient schedule to insure I'll be ready for my big day and bikinis lol. I am happy I did call and was well treated by the staff and Dr. Darrow was very pleasant to deal with. I've been going to Derrow Dermatology for a couple years now. I was having problems getting my acne under control and I pretty much tried everything. I wanted to be put on Accutane because I had enough- Nikki the PA-C was wonderful enough to give me the opportunity to try it. I know that may not sound like a big deal, but taking this medication is a difficult process. I had to see Nikki, get my blood tested, and take a quiz every month. It wasn't Nikki's rule- it's a rule for everyone because of the risk of getting pregnant and having the baby be born with birth defects. She had to ask me my form of birth control and enter it into her system before she could send me another batch of medication. But she let me do it and I am so glad I did. I have much more confidence and I'm so glad Nikki was able to provide that for me. read more

I have been going to Dr. Amy Derrow for about 2 years now. Her bedside manner is impeccable. She is extremely personable, nice, and takes the time to address all your concerns and questions. She removed a small skin colored mole on my face - and gave me all the tools I needed to minimize the scarring. She was very informative on the process and the after care. I had an appointment with Laurie Fashakin a few weeks ago. I was treated very well! courteous, thorough, gentle and quick. Everything you could ever ask for in a doctors appointment. I have lived overseas for quite some time, so it was almost a shock at how nice and connected Laurie was. I will definitely come back for check ups next year. I had some skin tags removed as well as a mole-check for cancer. I was guided through each step as to what the procedure was and what she was going to do next. I hate to leave a bad review but the service was so terrible. My husband took my teenaged son in for his acne. He said that he noticed every employee was a woman and there was no male representation in their office, which made my son feel uncomfortable to talk about his acne (face and back) to a female doctor. The second thing is doctor Derrow was dressed provocatively with a low cut top and that made my husband feel embarrassed for our teenage son having to explain his embarrassing back acne. Third, they charged us twice - once for a copay and another fir a $100 coinsurance. They should've only charged the copay, so I called that day to explain the mistake and request a refund. They don't answer the phone so you have to leave a message. Their recording says they return calls within 24-48 hours. That 48 hours came and went and we got no response. My husband then sent an email. No response. I called again 5 days after my initial message was left. Still no response. Then I emailed a week later, and finally got a response saying they refunded the overage back to the card. No apology for the mistake, no apology for not responding within their 24-48 hour timeline. I found the whole experience to be very unprofessional. read more

Wish there were 2.5 stars, but I guess "okay" is a good way to describe the overall experience I had. Office and staff are nice enough, but I felt very rushed both times I went. Especially my first time, when I thought I would get acquainted with her philosophies and a thorough once over. I had to ask her to please look at some moles I had on parts of my body she just skipped over. She didn't ask many questions or offer much advice; threw some sample creams and a prescription at me with little explanation. I felt like she was backing out of the room and I had to scrounge to get the maybe 10 minutes that I got for a whole lot of money. Maybe she wasn't too concerned about me b/c I am younger, but I thought that since she is young too, she might not just write me off if I didn't have huge skin problems. I was hoping to find a doc who would work with me to preserve and improve what I've got instead of just being a troubleshooter. I was pleased with my first visit to Derrow Dermatology. I had an appointment with the nurse practitioner, Laurie, since the wait to see Dr Derrow was quite long. I arrived at 4:10 for a 4:30 appointment and was taken back and seen at 4:45. I had 2 issues I wanted to discuss and I was pleased with the explanation, options presented and time spent with me. The nurse practitioner even called the doctor in to consult on one issue, which I appreciated. I would definitely return if the need arises. read more

I have been a patient for a few years and aside from a long wait and hasty exam I felt the practice was probably as good as any. By my own fault I was about 6 months overdue for my annual exam but I noticed a few concerning freckles so I called for an appointment. It was about a 5 month wait for an appointment- no problem...that was my fault. After the office made 2 scheduling changes (due to their schedules), I made it all the way to my automated confirmation call. Then, 8 hours prior I got a call from the office saying they no longer accept my insurance. Now...not only do I need to find a new doc with likely another 4-6 mos wait for a new patient appointment but my schedule that I rearranged is now a wasted effort. On top of that i know that if I would have cancelled within 24 hours they would be charging me for their inconvenience. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISAPPOINTING, To say the least! read more
