The physician is excellent and one of the most knowledgeable that I've ever met. I say that because I am a nurse in nursing administration. However, it is impossible to get anyone in the office to return calls so you can't do any follow up or get any information whatsoever unless you physically go to the Office office. I think that is a major deficiency and a clear negative that deflect from anything positive the patient portal is useless for sending messages because you end up getting a message back indicating that the portal is monitored Monday through Friday until 7 PM, but that's useless if there is no communication. read more

This office is the worst. The girls at the front desk don't smile and greet you. They sit there on their phones and talking and laughing amongst themselves. You are not kept informed of delays. My basal cell surgery appointment was 5 1/2 hours long. Dont call there no one EVER answers a phone. If you leave a message you may or may not get a return call! I've tried to schedule a surgery since June 2 and still have not received a call. 2 months later. I was told the surgery scheduler works from home. So needless to say she isn't doing her job!! There are so many dermatologists to choose from in this area and you should expect nothing but the best from the one you choose. This place is NOT it. They treat you like a number and not a human being. A human being who is navigating a new norm of skin cancer. The doctor there Mr. Metropolis thinks caring for patients is a joke and will not even make you feel human while there. Then the office manager Jillian is the most unprofessional person I have ever spoken to. When discussing how my husband was treated during a surgery, she interrupted, argued and waited 10 hours to call me back regarding a concern. Thanks for risking my credit score..... Unbelievable Advent Health is turning me over to collections for a bill that I paid you and then you didn't pay them. WTF! And I still can't get you to communicate with me...... After having treatment there, I them received a bill from Advent Health for lab services for a biopsy of a skin lesion. I had paid Advanced Derm for this service and then they did not pay Advent Health, so advent health has been after me to pay the bill. After 6 attempts to have Advanced Derm to fix this, I haven't got anywhere and it's almost impossible to reach the billing dept, and if you do, it asks you to leave a message. If you do call the billing dept, choose option one to bay a bill, and then they will immediately answer. read more

It's been years since I've been here and I don't know what happened to their level of service. Back in the day, when you would make your appointment: you give all your insurance information and name, etc. so they can verify your insurance. They would call you back the day before your appointment and let you know the costs associated after insurance verification. Well, the lady called back because she accidentally thought I was the policy holder when I told them the first time (so she couldn't verify with insurance). The policy holder is my husband (I remember having to give his date of birth and correct spelling of his name, the first time). Anyway that was corrected the day before my appointment, now they had my correct info but did not give information on service costs or deductible information or anything! The next morning, I called to let them know I was running late, but they said it was okay. I was 10-15 minutes late. Admin in the front tells me there will be a deductible cost, depending on issues taken care of today (completely understand) but they knew why I was coming in today. I sat and waited and it took them 40 minutes for the nurse to retrieve me to their care rooms. The nurse asked information to verify medical issues, etc and she really didn't want to be there (it showed in her attitude and her demeanor). I guess because it's Friday before Christmas Eve, maybe? Anyway, the doc comes in, I showed him my concerns and he was very, very brief. All he said was that I had hereditary skin issues and there's no concern. At the most, I saw him for 2 minutes! I asked the nurse what the cost would be because of the deductible if we took care of today. She said, well for office visit, $76 and for my scar treatment $84, basically $160 for today. I asked to reschedule because I couldn't cover the entire cost but I was still charged $76 for the office cost. I asked her if I was to come in again, I would have to pay the same $76 even for my rescheduled appointment! Completely pissed, I just paid it! I understand there's cost associated but why wasn't I aware of the office charge ahead of time?? Before I came in or when I arrived at the front desk (when I was advised of a possible deductible) or when I made my appointment?? They had ample enough time to tell me beforehand which is why I'm upset. I paid $76 for them to tell me what I already know without any treatment. Both nurse and doctor was in a complete hurry and did not want to work today, very brief, robot like, and unpleasant. I will never come here again and this used to be my go to Dermatologist office!!! read more

Please note, this review is specifically for a level 2 chemical peel from their esthetician - Amanda. This place came highly recommended from Alicia P - much love girl! And I have to say, I was uber nervous about getting a chemical peel since it was my first time getting anything done professionally to my skin besides a one time facial, but it was AOK! Making the appointment was super easy, just called and set it up. However, not much direction was given, no asking if it was my first time, no asking if I was on specific topical (because you would have to stop use of certain ones at least one week in advance), not given any pricing or asked about what level of a peel I was interested in. However, I was not scared because Alicia said Amanda was awesome. So, went in there the morning of my apt not knowing what to expect. I met Amanda and she was so warming. You know how you fill out all that paperwork when you go to doctors and then you have to RE-TELL it like 3 times verbally because no one actually reads what you took 20 min to write down? Yeah well Amanda dove right into my paperwork and reviewed it with me, Score!! Shows huge effort in learning about my skin and needs. She knew immediately I was new and we started discussing goals. She asked me about my skincare and the history of my skin so she could understand what she was about to work with. She also reviewed each and every option and pricing with me which made me feel super comfy. She was not about sales in the least, she literally was about getting my goals met. I went with the basic chemical peel, level 1 and it was $125. The application was only about 15 min and it was pretty painless. Just applying lotions and liquid to my skin. There was a small fan during the acetone application to get rid of the smell and then the vitamin A added a little sting but the fan made me comfortable. After I was finished, my face was yellow because of the Vitamin A but it was all absorbed within 30 minutes. My heal time was a little over 6 days but everyone is different. If I choose to keep these up or get something else, I definitely trust Amanda as she was super informative and nice. She gave me her card and numbers in case I had any questions. She also gave me written directions and samples of the moisturizers and cleansers I was allowed to use. She was a rockstar! read more

They tremendously over book. I finally wised up and left this practice for another area dermatologist. Expect average wait times of 30-45 min.after your scheduled appointment time to be seen. The last time I was seen for MOH's surgery I noted the timeline: - 8:00 am: Appt. time: - 8:45 am: Called back to treatment room for pre surgery prepping by nurse. - 9:00 am: Prepping complete - 9:20 am: Dr. arrived for surgery. (Laid on my stomach for 20 minutes waiting (surgery to back of leg) . - 9:35 am: Surgery complete. Returned to waiting room to wait for biopsy results. - 12:45 pm: Called back in to treatment room. Told biopsy revealed all of tumor had been removed. Wound was sutured and bandaged. - 1:05 pm: Left clinic. TOTAL TIME: 5 hr 5 min. I had similar experiences for two previous procedures, so this not an anomaly. Today I went to my see new dermatologist, Dr. Demetrius, The Dermatology Group, in Longwood, for a MOH's procedure. The previous Advanced Dermatology had failed to note two areas needing treatment. At first I hated Dermatologists and pretty much the entire industry. Advanced Derma has completely changed my mind and I will NEVER go anywhere else. Here's my sitch: I used to visit a VERY highly rated (and cocky, and demeaning) Orlando dermatologist, waited for 2 hours each visit, saw someone for 5 minutes, and was sent on my way after they took my co-pay. Needless to say, I was super negative about this whole industry. And so when I found Advanced Derma I was not the easiest customer to handle. But that was when the awesome started. 1. I called their main phone number and spoke to a scheduling assistant who knew the doctors at each location by name, and by specialty. When I told her that I wanted to be heard, she recommended Deb at the Lake Mary office because she's known for being patient. This told me right off the bat that this is a well-run company with excellent communication and employees that care. 2. The Medical Assistant and Deb, my actual Derma, were both beyond patient. No one judged me, they took their time, they explained things, they stay positive, they give out samples as much as possible, they answer questions. They're wonderful people and they remember me. GREAT experience each and every time. And finally - 3. My esthetician - Amanda. Possibly the most important aspect of this review. She is flipping awesome. She's easy to talk to, has a fun personality, is quick, completely cares, basically just rocks. The kind of person who you want to hug when you leave. She remembers my skin and cares about what happens to me. Freakin' awesome. I had this cyst on my eye the size of a chickpea and looked like quasi motto for 3 weeks. during this coronavirus mess, all I could do is go for emergency to an eye dr who prescribed drops and 2 zpaks. that didn't work then it was a telehealth doctor over the phone telling me to take the prednisone he was prescribing or I could lose my eye?! I took that and gained 10 lbs (last thing I needed!) Then I was referred to an opthamologist who said she could only see me telehealth due to virus. I explained Ive done that and its critical but she insisted. I then called advanced dermatology and they got me right in. I saw David the PA and he injected it with cortisone and now its only 1/4 size Thank God!!! Megan was a doll too . The staff was cordial so even though they are busy they are on top of their game! Was apprehensive about appointment because of the reviews on Yelp. I was totally surprised. Appointment waiting time was minimal. All questions I had about coverage and cost explained in a courteous and knowing fashion. Saw the p/a about 15 mins after scheduled time and the entire process was friendly, efficient and most important professional My process involves two steps and several wait periods both of which were explained completely. When I mentioned the Yelp reviews as not having a ring of truth the staff remained professional. The doctors are super nice and professional. I have been coming for 2 years for acne and David is awesome!! On the other hand the nursing staff and front desk admin are super rude and unorganized. I have never been to a doctors office before were I have been treated so poorly by nursing staff. While trying to explain why I am here they cut you off and don't fully listen. The front desk admin act like they have no time for you and get an attitude very fast. They don't schedule appointments efficiently, so if you have an appointment at 12 don't expect to be seen until 1. If you can find another office, you should!! Even though the doctors are great you only see them for 10% of your visit the other 90% is miserable. read more

She's super friendly and was willing to listen to all my concerns, and most importantly I didn't feel judged for anything I had to talk about or questions I asked. She helped me fix what I wanted to fix and didn't try to prescribe me anything I didn't need or want. Everything she suggested to me worked beautifully.
