His receptionist concedes that they receive far more letters and faxes than they have time to read, and messages sent via email or North Shore Connect are completely ignored. She advised that the best way of contacting the office was by telephone. But for me, that was equally problematic. It typically took an average of 3 attempts to get through because the voicemail message would keep repeating, and then when someone finally did answer, they would put me on hold and either forget I was there or else disconnect me. When I was finally able to get through and leave a message for the doctor, he would return my call in 3 days ... 3 weeks ... or not at all. Equally frustrating, whenever I came in for an appointment, the doctor would typically be running 30 ... 60 ... or even 90 minutes behind schedule. The final straw was when I needed Dr. Grinblatt's signature on a medical form. To expedite things, I hand-delivered it to his office. He was busy with a patient but the receptionist assured me it would be taken care of. It was not. "I never saw the form!" he insisted. So, I made a special trip to his office to deliver the paperwork and a postpaid envelope a SECOND time. Once again the doctor was busy, so I handed it to his nurse and explained the situation. But the second set of forms mysteriously vanished, too. This is no way to run a medical practice.

I know Dr. Unger doesn't agree with me, but he is willing to work with me as I do the personal work to address my health issues (mostly weight loss). We've been seeing an allergist for many years that we absolutely love (shoutout to Dr. Story), but wanted to explore OIT after my son had a scary reaction to nuts while we were on vacation. And it seems like when it comes to OIT Dr. Detjen is the main show in town. We went in for an introductory appointment and I really liked Dr. Detjen and his entire team. We left armed with lots of different info, including an order to get a CT scan since he thought my son was getting way more colds than he should be at his age. The only thing I didn't like was that this office hasn't moved to an electronic paperwork system yet. While they seem to be ahead of the game when it comes to allergy related issues, they are about 10 years behind when it comes to administration. I thought the CT scan was BS, but have to admit it was one of the best things we've done for my son. The results showed that he had a bad sinus infection that wasn't clearing up. After 2 weeks of brutal antibiotics/steroids this past summer I've noticed quite the difference in both the frequency and length of his colds. The waitlist for OIT is a long one (and I fear this review may make it even longer). Our first step is to do a few challenges. It took several months to get in for challenge #1, but it was well worth the wait. The staff went out of their way to make sure he was comfortable and he mentioned sitting around for 4 hours eating snacks and playing on his ipad did make for an enjoyable afternoon. He passed this first challenge (and has been on the hunt for rocky road ice cream ever sense), but I have no doubt we will still have a great experience if he doesn't pass future challenges. We are headed back there in a week for a hazelnut challenge and my son is actually looking forward to it, although I think trying nutella is a big part of the reason why. We're just a few months into our journey with Dr. Detjen, but I'm already so impressed. His office is very conveniently located for us, but I can see why many people make a long drive to see him and his incredible staff.

I've been MD hopping since 2006, trying to find a compassionate and trustworthy provider. Glad I found Dr. Oh. I think he is an amazing physician. He's smart and dedicated to his patients. I like that we can call him for urgent care and he can squeeze us in during his office hours. He's pretty much available every day of the week which is a major plus for me. You never know when you're gonna need a doctor for those moments that are not quite emergent but urgent enough that you need a doctor asap. He's pulled us through some frightful times and I'm glad he's in charge. We can talk to him about anything relating to our health without judgement. You know what I mean? Some doctors berate their patients for not making wise and healthy choices. You feel bad instead of better after visiting your doctor. Not Dr. Oh. He will actually listen to you.
