I think another reviewer mentioned that you will not get chicken cutlets like this anywhere. This is unequivocally true. I will no longer be able to buy my meat anywhere else. Mike is amazing I love the shop it reminds me of back in the day when my mom used to send me up the block to pick up a brown wax package of meat from Mac the butcher. That chicken was so tender and tasty the chicken livers were fresh and beautifully cleaned and trimmed the shop is a fantastic throwback to the days when you knew your merchant and you got a little "passing of the day" while your selections are expertly cleaned and trimmed. Been coming here since I was a kid! Mike is an excellent butcher! The place is clean and friendly! You will NOT GET CHICKEN CUTLETS LIKE HIS ANYWHERE!! We aren't big meat eaters! But I occasionally do buy other stuff besides ckn. His sausage patties are excellent! read more

Shopfront is deceptively small. But DON'T let that fool you! Like a beautiful peacock... what they seem to lack out front, they make up for out back. They have beasts of all shapes and sizes somewhere out there. Very possibly peacocks too? Friendly butcher, I think John is his name. Loves his sport (managing to even stay loyal to the Jets- a true sports fan). And certainly knows his meat. Brings the right cut from out back. Comes, chops ands prepares it for you out front. The full service. And the meat was great FYI! So stoked to have now found our own local butcher! Only drawback... it's CASH ONLY read more

How lucky I am to have this wonderful butcher shop in the neighborhood! Fabulous, fresh meats cut to order. Spotlessly clean; friendly, warm and inviting. I am partial to the ground lamb and homemade sausage, and the incredible chicken and veal scallopini are the best I have ever had. Astor Prime Meats has excellent service and the owner has a great personality. Here is what I like, bread, breadsticks, cold cuts, fresh cut up chicken, chicken cutlets (cut just right), home made pasta, fresh mozzarella, sweet sausage. The list goes on. We lived near by for almost 4 years and got to know Mike and his guys well. Great guy and great meat. Reasonably priced and I really miss going there. We got our turkey every thanksgiving and are making a special trip from New Jersey to pick up a special cut. Every cut comes with good advice, and the italian sausage is great. Really the biggest thing I miss about the Bronx. read more

They sell a variety of meats including beef, poultry, pork, veal and they specialize in homemade Italian sausages. I came in specifically looking for steak and the guy who helped me answered all of my questions regarding the different types of cuts. The staff was helpful and very efficient, they gave me a sheet with information on the different temperatures to cook the meat. I ended up ordering the NY strip steak. The meat had a nice amount of marbling and was very tender and flavourful. The meat was such great quality that even though I slightly overcooked it, it remained very tender. I only added minimal seasoning, salt and pepper with butter and flavor was delicious. I would definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for quality meat.

Not a place I can trust doing business with EVER, and definitely not what you'd expect from a so called "halal" business. They will be held accountable one day for their shady business practices.

I'm not in the area too often and the extra boxes would have carried me through the winter. I hand over my cash and the gentleman says God Bless to me. I'm not getting blessings on Long Island!
