You can say the fruit and vegetables (what they have) look okay or fresh enough...but unfortunately when you get home and are ready to eat and prepare the produce, it's on the old side and not fresh at all. I've had to throw away certain produce because they weren't in good shape. The apples seem to look okay...but when ya get home and you bite into them, they're brown and mushy. Just a waste of money. I/We have purchased dairy products in the past such as eggs, milk and yogurt and have had to return the items because they were either old and/or spoiled. Perhaps they have a refrigeration problem or the thermostat is kept way too low?? Just no good. We've noticed that many items on the shelves are on the older side and are outdated. Ketchup, mustard, honey and cookies to name a few. The store did not seem to be very clean the last time I stopped in. The floors were sticky and the merchandise on the shelves were very dusty. I came in to return a gallon of milk which was spoiled and the cashier was very nasty and rude to me because I did not have a receipt...meanwhile she was the one who rang me up the day before. She gave me my money back...but gave me a very hard time for no reason. This is no way to treat customers and to run a business. No way!! Normally a person could just let this go...but this is not the first time. It's happened several times. The little one (cashier) in particular has a rotten attitude. I/We won't be going back to this store anymore. There are better markets and stores one can go to without these types of problems. Not worth it. Sorry......

They have a coffee station and a deli counter with cold cuts or where you can grab breakfast or a sandwich to go. In short, all of your standards and more, with a slight emphasis on Eastern Europe/Mediterranean fare--different for this neighborhood that tends to skew Irish, but not unwelcome. More than just a supplemental place to pick up a few things, you could almost use this as a primary supermarket. What a welcome addition to this neighborhood.

I'm…read morevery particular and the last time I made rack of lamb, I used pre-packaged, New Zealand grass-fed lamb. It was extremely gamey and I hated it. I did not want to go that route this time around so I tried looking for a local butcher. Unfortunately, many of them closed earlier than I could get to them. I called one place and they said they had the lamb but when I arrived, they went into a freezer and presented me with emaciated, old vacuum-sealed lamb chops. I declined. The place was gross. They had tons of pieces of meat just sitting atop one another and I can't see how they prevent cross contamination. I was distraught, but then hubby suggested that I check the Morris Park area. I was ready to throw in the towel and go buy the gamey lamb when he found BESA Meats online. I called them and they said they had FRESH racks of lamb and I said I was on my way. When I arrived, I saw their meat hanging in the window. Walking in, the place is IMMACULATE! All of the meat in the cases were individually wrapped and clean. It was the polar opposite of the place I had just visited. I don't know the name of the man that assisted me at BESA, but he was so proud to present me with his fresh lamb rack. It was beautifully prepared, Frenched and trimmed of excess fat. I asked for two and the price was maybe 1-2 dollars more than the small racks I've seen that aren't even fresh. I enjoyed prepping the lamb. I didn't have to do much. I just cleaned it, scored it and marinated overnight with simple seasoning. The next day I seared, roasted, coated and finished in the oven. It was probably one of the best lamb dishes I've ever prepared and there was no gamey scent nor aftertaste. This spot will most definitely be my go-to. I have no problem spending a few dollars more for quality. The lamb was almost twice the size as the one in the supermarket. Their meat is fresh and well taken care of. You can see the pride when you walk in.
