Peter's has a huge selection of super quality meats - unusual, ethnic things to mainstream. Service could not be better and the quality of the products is really as good as it gets. Friendly neighborhood butcher shops like this are far & few in between, so Peter's inside the Arthur Avenue Market is a gem in the "Little Italy" of the Bronx. Whether you're looking for a nice steak, a crown roast or just a hamburger patty, this is the place. They also have some more exotic cuts like head of lamb & rabbit which they'll dress up how you'd like it. A whole refrigerator case is dedicated to freshly made italian sausages of all types. A special order item just for the holidays is their extreme turducken ($6.99/lb). Just like a russian matryoshka nesting doll, you get a quail stuffed into a cornish game hen, then into a regular chicken, then into a duck and finally into a turkey. It's mostly boneless, pre-seasoned and prepped all ready for the oven. Once it's roasted, you just cut it up like a meatloaf. It takes a LOOONG time to cook because of its mass and density, but the secret is the duck because its rendered fat lubricates from the inside and keeps the whole thing moist throughout. read more

Did a little self guided food tour of the stores of Artur Avenue this past Saturday morning with a bunch of friends and this was our third stop. I got a couple of porterhouse steaks for the grill and four rolled chicken cutlets (stuffed with ham and cheese) to low heat pan fry in some olive oil. Good stuff. read more

How's ZERO. Ordered cheese & parsley yesterday 8/17/2020 Cooked some of it yesterday. To my utter disappointment NO CHEESE, NO PARSLEY. Called them today and the women just pushed it off. Would NOT credit that portion of the bill. Talk about ZERO customer service. I normally go to Biancardi Meats. Never a problem. Too bad they are now closed on Mondays. We live in New York City and go to Peter's Meat Market. Their chicken wings are always so plump. Guys behind the counter are great. Wanted to make meatballs and needed ground chuck. They grind it fresh for you! It was so red and beautiful. There were no darker spots hidden below. Give 'em a try. Then go to Teitel Brothers and buy your Parmesan Reggiano there and your smoked meats. Go to Casa Della Mozzarella to buy your fresh mozzarella. read more

This place is great. They have almost anything you can imagine and will cut it anyway you desire. Everything is great quality and super fresh. If I lived in this area I would buy all my meat here. Oh, awesome prices too. Found this place (and Arthur Ave. as well) a few weeks after moving to NYC and was looking for a place to buy pork belly and pork rind. None of the "butchers" (they shouldn't be allowed to even call themselves that) in my neighborhood carried either. A little googling (I wasn't aware of Yelp! yet) directed my search here. Been meaning to head back here. If I was a kid, this would be my candy shop. Bought a nice rabbit here, and made a great ragu using ingredients I picked up in the market where this establishment is located. The staff was helpful and friendly and didn't act like my wide-eyed staring at the sausages and chops in the fully stocked cases was anything odd at all. Now that I've realized there is an insanely convenient bus from my neighborhood over to the market, and I don't have to hunt for parking, this should become a part of my regular routine. read more

Best butchers in town, probably the entire city. The butchers are always so pleased to help and get you whatever you need. The meats are always fresh and the best quality you'll find. I've been going here for years and everything is so great. Some things highly recommended are their sausage, chicken rolls and veal spedini. Could be (and was) a 4-star but, as things get more expensive, something has to give and it looks like it's quality. (Thank you President Change we can believe in and Mayor for Life Boomberg). Still stop by on occasion. One thing I really appreciate is that they are honest with their weighing. If you ask for a pound you get a pound and not "a little (i.e., 33%-50%) over". Most of Arthur Ave. has never learned that honesty is the best policy and that not all customers are stupid. This place is A-OK. read more
