Wonderful hometown feeling theater. Ticket prices are very reasonable and staff is always nice

Very disappointing experience. We were planning to see the movie with an 8:00 PM showing and arrived around 8:05, assuming there would still be previews. The website on facebook says the theater is open until 9:00 PM, so we had no reason to think it would be closed. When we arrived, the doors were locked, nobody was at the front, and the OPEN sign was still lit up. An employee came out from behind the corner, saw us through the window, looked directly at us, and then completely ignored us and walked away. No explanation, no acknowledgment, nothing. If the theater is closed, the hours and sign should reflect that. And if customers are standing outside confused, the least you can do is acknowledge them and explain what's going on. Extremely poor communication and incredibly rude customer service. And we did try calling the theater multiple times and there was no way to actually get a hold of customer service and the AI receptionist hung up on us twice. read more

I wouldn't call this a good movie theatre but there isn't anything wrong with it. For the most part, clean and comfortable. Ticket prices are on the high side unless you go on $5 Tuesdays. Like all theatres, refreshments are ridiculously priced as they claim that's how they stay profitable. My wife and I are here several times a year when there is a show that wouldn't be the same streaming on the smaller TV screen at home. We were recently here for "Reagan" , 2 tickets purchased in advance on line, 1 large drink and popcorn to share, $33.00! I hate to imagine Seaside without this business but as retired seniors, we can't afford these prices! read more

Anyone else notice the popcorn butter always tastes rancid? The place is small but it's a small town. Would be nice if someone could go in and fix the seating, make it more comfortable, and clean the floors. The smell is old building smell but you eventually get used to it. If there's a movie you want to see go, just don't waste your money on the popcorn unless you get it dry. read more

We liked this theater on a chilly summer day! Tickets were $8 but they have deals on Tuesdays and older movies running for $2 twice a week. It's older but the seats were plenty comfortable. I liked that it was laid back and affordable honestly. They had a good variety of snacks and the popcorn was, as expected, delicious! read more

We enjoyed our movie experience at Seaside Cinemas. The only thing is that the place was deserted. We saw a Marvel movie during the first week after it opened, and we were the only souls in the theater. The staff literally had nothing to do. Maybe it's the marquee sign out front, which is broken and makes the theater appear to be closed? Come on, Seaside Cinemas, spruce up the outside to draw more people inside! read more

This service is cute in theory, but unbelievably expensive for a what you get. You have to download your own movie on your own iPad, bring your own speaker, either provide your own food or pay an exorbitant amount for "snacks". The 2 hour booking starting at sunset includes: Set up, break down, clean up Projector and 100" viewing screen Cushioned stadium seating Mexican Blankets under seating Side table, if ordering food. Need an extra hour? That will be $75. Want tiki torches? That will be $75 for 4 of them. Want a birthday banner, candles, and cake? That's another hundo. Oh let's keep in mind that sound travels on the bay. So if the Bahia Belle or any of the other venues or houses along the bay are having a party, your movie is going to be drowned out. I'm trying to figure out where they got the numbers to create their pricing. It's a cute idea, but realistically you could pick up a projector and screen and do this yourself for you and your friends for less than what they charge you. read more

Great little movie theater. Kids very nice and helpful. Had everything we needed. Only down side was the cold air that came on several times in theater at night with the temperatures already in the freezing area outside. Get the sign at the road repaired and clean up the landscaping and I'd go for a fifth star. Theater was clean and you can't beat Top Gun.

First of all I just wanna say thank you Seaside for having a theater! This theater is small and quaint with multiple theater rooms. It isn't updated but it gets the job done.. While visiting in town we went to see a movie and the movie didn't run as smoothly as it should have (it froze a couple of times). The staff was great and switched us theaters and then gave everyone refunds. I give this theater 4 stars. If this theater were in Portland I'd probably give it 2 stars. However because of the location (who knew Seaside had a movie theater ‍) and customer service this theater gets 4 stars on a curve. read more

Really bad popcorn and it's clearly run by teens. We had to ask the staff to turn on the movie. The sound and picture are ok, not great. The seats aren't very comfortable. But it was a great distraction for my 5 year old and I took a nap. read more

This place needs an extreme makeover starting with the management and staff. Managers should make sure their employees are doing the job they are getting paid to do instead of jaw jacking in the back room (alongside the manager) while the restrooms are filthy along with the overall theater. Managers and employees should try their best to give paying customers a good experience instead of customers hearing them use profanity and basically rude to everyone. The manager needs to be retrained so he knows how to manage this place and employees. I would not come back to this theater again. read more

Theater itself was okay. Seats pitch forward a bit (they are obviously old). I tried a few before I gave up and dealt with it. Floor was sticky. Sound was okay as was the picture. Lobby was clean. Popcorn was below average - a bit stale (from the previous night?). Admission price was good. Where this place falls way short is in its staff. The tall guy at the counter was not outright rude, he was just indifferent. It was as if we were bothering him. He ignored my two attempts to converse, answered the question I had with an abrupt one word answer, and gave the overall impression that customers in general are a nuisance and he didn't have the time or interest in showing any sort of good customer service. Of course, bad staff and customer service is a sign of bad management. Looking at other reviews, this is not an isolated incidence. If you don't care about receiving good customer service as you don't plan to get any snacks and are just there to see a movie, then you might be fine with going here. If you prefer to only support businesses that care about giving their customers an overall quality experience, I suggest you go somewhere else to see a movie (or get a DVD at Redbox). Slightly below Astoria Cinemas as far as quality / comfort / cleanliness is concerned. Over priced concessions, but not as bad as some of the inland chains. Employees are typical worker bees, Manager is sharp and a really nice lad. Get your gift cards at Costco to save a few bucks. Use their rewards program to get more perks. We have been in 2 power outages here...pretty surreal. Passes were given out to come back and see a show. Cool for locals...sucks for visitors. The remodel really improved things. read more

The burning question here for me is, what did this place used to be?? It has the feel of an old shop or warehouse, compartmentalized into theaters, some red velvet looking stuff put up on the walls, some chairs bolted in, and a screen put up. Like something my brothers would have put together in a large garage in college or something! The ticket prices weren't awful but the concessions were about as expensive as at, say, a Regal theater, with smaller portions. Staff were laid back and friendly though. I do have to say that the sign advertises that they have digital, and the picture was very nice. Unfortunately, we chose to see The Hangover Part III, which was a slight improvement on Part II, which is not saying much!! (Obviously not this theater's fault!) read more

I think this place used to be a bank....maybe a drive through burger joint....Not sure exactly but it definitely did not start out as a theatre. Its small, run down a little but gets the job don't. Seats inside are pretty old and uncomfortable however there are no other theatres around for miles so I hesitate to knock this place too bad. If they demolish it then there will be no place to hang out when it rains. and it rains a lot in Seaside :) read more

Yes the theater is small, but since this is a small town you don't need huge rooms. We have only seen the theatre filled up once or twice in more than 10 summers (busy season). The only time we have encountered a true "crowd" was when the latest Star Wars film came out. I appreciate that the popcorn is made fresh ( not the stale crap we get in LA). Staff is always friendly and the place is fairly clean. read more

I think this place is a joke. Seriously...a joke. So we enter the place...and the room is like some small living room with tables and chairs...with a 10?? foot white screen on the wall. I thought I was on candid camera. And low and behold...the movie started on that small screen...which seemed propped up. No joke. Sure this was 8 years ago...so it might have changed since then. This place was great. You can see from the outside that it's small so what you get on the inside shouldn't be a big surprise. We(2) saw Machete - and it was the perfect theater for that - and shared an extra large popcorn and extra large soda, for $21.50 at four-thirty in the afternoon. The bathrooms were spotless. The seats were as clean as I'd expect any theater seats to be, and nice and wide. The last tiny theater I went to had seats meant for 1950's Americans. Popcorn was great - didn't taste like the carry-over you get if you go to a large chain earlier in the day. and best of all was the girl flying solo that day. She rang up our tickets, got our popcorn, and cracked wise with us after the show. I don't know that I'd want to have to fight a mob to see a show here on a crowded night, but I don't like doing that at the best of theaters, so take that as you will. read more

Saw Mission Impossible 4 here and was pleasantly surprised...yes it's a little on the old side, but the price just can't be beat...9pm and an adult ticket was only 8 dollars...in the big city it's up to as much as 12 or more...popcorn was surprisingly good and relatively cheap vs what you get in the big city...yes it's not a state of the art viewing environment but I was very happy with the sound and picture and would willingly see a movie here again in the future read more

I remember going here about 10 years ago. It was a hot day on the beach so the air conditioning felt good. If was to go see another movie at the beach I would go here. And I am not saying that just because it's the only theater in Seaside either. read more

Went here on Christmas Day to see Wild. Theater seats were ok, not really comfortable, but not uncomfortable either. $6.25 for matinee. They had a special where you could get pizza, popcorn, drink and movie, which made it really pricey. Since none of the restaurants were open, I just took the small pan pizza cplus movie, which brought the price to $13.25. The pizza (which was a pizza supreme) was not bad! But at $7 for that? I think you can get it cheaper at the pizza chain with the red roof. My feet were cold during the movie and I kept my coat on. Parking lot seemed small, wouldn't park an RV here. I enjoyed the small town, old school feel of this cinema. It's not a pristine, overpriced establishment like every other theater. The room we were in had only slightly sloped seating so even in the back we were looking up at the screen. I'm so used to sitting in the back and looking down. One plus to looking up though is that nobody's head is in the way. read more

Avoid. Unless you're REALLY desperate to see a movie, skip this place. The customer service is terrible. The staff behave as if they'd rather be cleaning a public toilet after a norovirus epidemic than help you. They don't allow bags of any kind, except over-the-shoulder purses for people who clearly look female (in their rude and judgmental opinion). They offer to "hold it" for you "in the back", and refuse to sell you a ticket if you won't. So you get to keep your valuables in your car, in a sketchy parking lot in a resort town. Sure. If you appear male (again, their decision) and have ANY kind of bag, they won't admit you unless you leave it in your car or, again, let them "hold it" in the back. And by "the back", I mean some room you don't have access to that the staff does. Locked up? Nope. Secured in any way? Nah. The seats are old school theater style, no stadium seating, and as comfy as a school bus bench. Wonderful. So besides rude staff, terrible seats and a strange smell, this place is great. read more

Went to see lone survivor, very intense true life, sensitive movie. Btw it was an amazon film. I give much respect to our seals. They deserve more respect than what we give. This is my 5th time going to this cinema when we make our trips here. Every time I think.... Ok they are going to renovate... They are going to renovate..... Sigh. Very little renovating has happened. However the manager that got our popcorn was very friendly and kind with a great smile. When asked he gave his review of the movie and was right on. The picture was great in the theater we were in. Besides the weirdo sitting behind us sighing and cursing anytime one of the seals got hurt. Creepy. Regardless me Andy husband had a great date night out and we got a friendly good night from the workers on our way out and invited us back. I only have 4 stars because they need to renovate, but that doesn't defer us from coming again. read more

We have a theatre... not a great one but WE HAVE A THEATRE which is lots better than not having one. Admittedly the facility is not in great condition. I think tickets are fairly priced. I think concessions are a ripoff but where can you go without finding this to be the case? The last few months there haven't been many movies we wanted to see. When there are we will be in two or three times a week. The building is for sale. I hope there is a theatre after it sells. read more
