Such a pretty rooftop restaurant in a cool artsy area. We came here with a big bachelorette party and loved the ambiance, food, and service. It was kind of fun to have a photographer come around and take pictures of us (that they then tried to sell to us afterwards) too. We started with some bottles of white and saganaki cheese, ahi tuna, ceviche for appetizers. Everything was delicious! For our entrees we shared the lobster pasta, grilled salmon, burrata salad, short rib, and another salad on the menu. Everything was divine- my favorite was the lobster pasta. Definitely a cute place when you get to the rooftop. The food was good. Service was very slow and had to remind server of multiple orders that were missing. When we asked to speak to the manager, the server came over which was super uncomfortable and unprofessional. Some specific examples were bringing red wine instead of white, waiting 45 minutes for a drink, the server did not know what a gluten allergy was. There was a woman with a camera who just started snapping shots and demanded poses. All super uncomfortable. It seemed as though the service team was under the influence. We saw this place on Instagram and decided to give it a go. The Rooftop was super cute. We were seated on the edge/corner of the rooftop... this part is important later. For apps we ordered the calamari, hummus, and fried cheese. All were delicious! No complaints. For my main, I ordered the full lobster tail. My friends ordered the chicken kabobs, lobster pasta, and a steak. I heard the steak tasted baked and not grilled and the chicken was dry. My lobster was good and had a great price point. But I couldn't really focus on the food after a Roach or "water bug" that was more than two times the size of my big toe came centimeters away from my foot.. and I had sandals on! When we told the first waiter he wasnt shocked and said since it's outside they get them. I get it... it's Miami. But they could have offered to move us or something. Next thing I know it was back and trying to crawl up our little table. It was huge!! I got a waiter to come take care of it and the crunch that thing made when he stepped on it made all of our eyes wide. We weren't offered an apology or anything. Astra is a rooftop bar in the revitalized Miami neighborhood of Wynwood. They also offer great food, and features a great view of the Miami skyline. During Sun HH, we ordered oysters, ahi and lamb meatballs. First of all, the oysters were super fresh and a great starter. Secondarily, the ahi was also very fresh, and presented nicely. Lastly, the meatballs were seasoned well, and the meat was very moist. Regarding the ambiance, there is a cool bar, and as you can see, Astra has a great view. The bldg is not that tall: We were on the 3rd Floor. However, this location has unobstructed views in every direction. There are tables of two & four, and a large area for bigger gatherings like the one we saw. I would normally rate this place a 4, bc we didn't meet anyone cool here. However, the service fr Morgan was stellar. She was friendly, nice and attentive. Morgan is the reason I bumped this review to 5 Stars. If you are looking for a cool place to hang out, people watch, and take in a great view of the city, Astra is the place for you. Pro tip: Check the hours. I think they open @ 5 pm M-W, and open @ 1 pm on other days. They are also open past midnight every night. read more

Cool rooftop vibe with a DJ but it's not a raging party like other places so if you're looking for a more chill spot then this is it. Only thing to keep in mind is that all of the lounge seating with soft pillows will be wet if it had rained earlier that day. read more

Danny the event coordinator and waitress mentioned that the music would change after a certain time, assumed like any other bar they would siphon in some Top 40's. Deep house was the genre that would never change. It's currently 11:30PM, and no sign of the music changing...nor is this "live DJ" taking any requests from their paying patron on this windy Friday. Had such high hopes, we had a party bus to arrive and the energy we wanted was definitely not matched. Our waitress/bottle girl Catherine/Kathryn wasn't the most pleasant, everything seemed to be an inconvenience when we asked. We have 12 people, and had planned to spend the minimum of $1200 and then some. Ordered 2 bottles of tequila and 1 bottle of vodka. Asked the waitress kindly to give us a heads up when we got near our minimum...her response was "You guys are no where near the minimum." It's not about the money, it's about wanting to leave and go somewhere else to dance and enjoy my VACATION...Catherine/Katherine. Some friends left the table to see if they could tip the DJ for a song request, the DJ gladly took $60 dollars and proceeded to tell our friends "Oh thanks, but I can't change the music unless told by management." Asked to speak to the manager on duty and the lack of compassion/empathy/listening skills was apparent. The manager also decided to tell me that "the only type of music they play in Miami is Deep House". There was no resolve even when I provided him options, he was just confused. I didn't want to fight and argue anymore, so we paid and left. Definitely got some good ass music at the next bar, so don't lie Mr. Manager on Duty Friday the 18th. Let me train your staff for top notch hospitality and service, they might learn a thing or two. read more

I don't normally review after just two items from a menu but I felt compelled because of the awful service I experienced here. I visited on a random Tuesday night and it was somewhat busy but nothing that explained what happened. I got a passion rum cocktail (sour, not spicy as the waiter described but maybe that's a language thing?) and an appetizer (calamari) and waited almost an hour for my food. I saw other customer's main dishes (that were ordered after mine) coming before my order. The waiter was aware and told us twice that our food was coming. When it finally came he apologized but I wasn't going to wait another hour for dinner so we asked for the check and left. The drink and calamari were good and along with the beautiful decor, I'd be willing to give these guys another shot maybe. But this level of service (especially considering the pricing, which was over $40 for those two items) is unacceptable and I wouldn't recommend Astra. Finally, photographers randomly took our picture there saying it was free, and it was for us (not marketing for the restaurant or something else). This seemed strange but I said sure, only to be blindsided by the sales tactic when leaving of a $20 sales pitch for the framed photo. Technically they didn't lie as we were under no obligation to buy it, but I'm surprised to experience this outside of a zoo, aquarium, or amusement park. If they want to host photographers for date night, go for it, but be forthcoming with communication about what it is. read more

We were sat in the sun and far from fans, so we asked to move. The hostess replied "we're hot too and we work here." I don't find that was the right way to speak to a customer in an empty restaurant, we asked a fair question right when we sat down. She let us pick where we sat. The service took forever and we often lost our server. We struggled to find him so we could pay and then had another staff member track him down. The place is cute, and I'm sure it's better at night or for drinks only. The food was hit and miss. The filet skewers were best. The appetizer dips were nice too. I have never left a review no matter how good or bad an experience was because who has the time? It's part of life, onto the next one. But this place was truly terrible. My family and I decided to go here on a Sunday afternoon after we saw it had 4.4 stars with 1.3k reviews on AppleMap/OpenTable. Our first clues should have been the almost completely empty restaurant and extremely loud music. We had to relocate across the restaurant because I couldn't hear my cousin or niece talk from across the table. Our waiter informed us that they were only doing brunch at that moment and it would consist of 6 dishes for $45 per person. We decided to give it a shot with the thought that for such a price and reviews, it must be good, right? So for 3 people, we tried almost every food option on the menu and bottomless mojitos ($25 per person by the way). The food and drinks came out quickly enough, but everything was either room temperature, well done, bland, or salty; and the mojitos were practically water with lime. We did not finish anything and several dishes were left untouched. We lost our appetite. I do want to commend our waiter for noticing that we were unsatisfied and comped $32 off our bill, but 21% service charge for 3 people? Needless to say, we will not go back. read more

Pros- the view, very aesthetically pleasing and cool place Cons- it was absolutely packed, service was terrible, patrons did not follow COVID protocols We visited Astra for my Bachelorette party, which unfortunately lined up with a bunch of spring breakers being in Miami. We read a lot of the recent reviews, and knew to expect bad service. The views and overall atmosphere were worth it, in our minds. We had a 10pm reservation and had to wait in a reservation line for about 10 min before we could get in. Walk-ins were not allowed, however, there was probably about a 30 person walk-in line anyway. Service was exceptionally slow. We did get a majority of the drinks we ordered, but some of the drinks near the end of the night never came. They still charged us for them, so make sure to double check your bill at the end of the night! When you get your first round of drinks- order your second one. That's the only way they will come relatively on time. We only got one of the food items we had ordered, no idea what happened to the rest. They were clearly slammed with a huge crowd and couldn't keep up. It's understandable if it happens every once in awhile, but it seems like they are consistently over booked and under staffed. Astra seemed to be COVID-compliant with tables being spaced apart to a socially-distant distance and staff wearing masks. However, they did not seem to enforce their patrons- many customers were walking around mask-less, which was very disappointing to see. If you know what to expect going into it, and don't mind bad service, the views are worth it. Otherwise, look elsewhere. read more

I have been wanting to check this place out as it's been circulating through social media. I do want to say it has the most gorgeous roof top I've seen in Wynwood. I thought parking was a breeze as there's many street parking spots available. We picked the perfect day to come as it was about 50° degrees in miami so this spot hit different. The staff were wearing masks, and there weren't many people so was socially distant. We started with drinks which were roughly the normal high price in the area. The food palette is Mediterranean/Greek which the selection was great but not as extensive. We started with an order of the calamarakia and the cheese saganaki which were pretty tasteful. For the main dish we chose the kotopoulo and it did not disappoint. They have live music as well and love the tech house they play, I miss live music events :/ The only thing that could've been better was the service, I felt there were times we waited for our drinks for a while, but also waiting for the check, as nobody passed by so couldn't request it. I also was freezing at this point lol I guess it's a hit or miss at times, but I'm willing to go back again when it's time for some greek foods possibly. read more

The only problem we had was with our server. Long story short. Meh. Food: I wish I could say this is where Astra earned 5 stars but that would be far from the truth. We went brunch and our table got the calamari, lamb and crab cake benedict. The only thing that came out correctly the way we ordered was the calamari and that was salty and we didnt even finish it. The Benedict was the most disappointing entree. I ordered it with egg scrambled and the plate came out missing all the sides and with no egg or hollandaise. When I sent it back it came out with a half cooked/boiled egg the second time. We also got the mojito pitcher. That was decent but not worth $50 by any means. Service: my waitress was nice enough. She tried to get our meals fixed but to no avail on that front. She was not the banter type and wasnt much help when we asked for a recommendation on what to order. Vibe: now the vibe was a 5 star. The rooftop was dope and I guess thats what you pay for. I really wanted to love Astra, but it fell really flat. It's a rooftop restaurant and bar in Wynwood and it's iust so aestetically pleasing that it's a no brainer to want to come and just chill. There's various seating options - lounge chairs/couches, high tops by the bar - with cute light fixtures and accompanied by scenic Miami views to set the mood. Lots of great photo ops! Be sure to reserve to avoid just standing around by the wayside. As for the food, living in Miami for all my life I can expect the jacked up prices, which I do. Although, I also expect quality if you're gonna have those prices, but here.. don't waste your time. I ordered a tuna tartare appetizer with a grilled salmon filet for my entree. Both nothing special and the salmon pretty flavor less. It was a mistake to order actual food and hesitant to give it another try. I came here during sunset happy hour for a friend's birthday. The view and the ambiance of the roof top is really nice, its worth stopping by for a cold drink if you're getting heat exhaustion from walking around Wynwood. We sat at the bar (which is necessary to take advantage of the HH prices) and I ordered the raspberry mule and half a dozen oysters. The drink was good! But they did not give me a small fork (or any utensil) for the oysters, which is pretty customary. I asked the bartender for a small fork, and she seemed very confused by the request. After 5 minutes of waiting for her to come back, she brought me a small spoon and said that was all she could find. For a restaurant that serves oysters, I thought this was pretty weird.
