Had planned a night out with some friends and decided to make a reservation here to kick off the night. Cheerfully greeted at the door by a gentleman and checked in, was a tad late but within a 15min grace period and went upstairs to claim our table. Greeted again by the hostesses and was asked if I wanted a table or couch setting which is nice, opted for the couch and were immediately seated. This place is really nicely decorated and pretty big, the couch areas can comfortably sit 5-6 people and the view is awesome. Warmly greeted and attended by our server and the support staff was also very polite. We ordered the Salmon tartare, Cheese saganaki, and the Calamarakia - all great choices and we killed it quickly. Definitely try the Astra Mule - I usually don't drink vodka but went with our servers recommendation and it was REALLY good! Lots of wine selections too as this makes for a nice place for a date. Oh Astra, I was wanting to get to this place for some time. And, finally, we made it there. The place is beautiful, cozy and unique. Live music in the evening. That's it. I will always remember this place as a surprise food and I will explain why. It started with my drink. I asked for cranberry juice and got orange. But didn't make a thing out of it. It got better once 7 of us got our food, and only 1(!!!) had her order correctly. At first we thought that maybe our table was mixed up with another one, but, oh no, the waiter insisted that's what we ordered! And he was right: there was no seven people table at the place as it was early evening during the week so the place was pretty empty. Long story short, we somehow with attitude got it solved. And when we got our food, it was ok. I had octopus. It was ok. We didn't see our waiter anymore. So at one point had to get up and ask somebody to bring us a check. There was a surprise too, some additional drinks and food. It took us another 15 min to solve that issue as our waiter was nowhere to be found and the waitress that brought us a check had no clue what we were talking about and was super bothered with that. Anyways, we paid and left. Bitter taste. The gratitude is included of course (18%), so they don't even have to try. I would recommend this place for drinks ONLY. Food: 3 Venue: 5 This is tough. I was amazed when I walked in, the rooftop dining area is astonishing. I loved it. They have shaded spots, a DJ, a huge full bar, and plants all over! I would recommend going here for some drinks and apps, as the food is not so great! The food isn't bad either! It's just average... I got a Greek salad with bottomless mimosas and they bring you two pitchers in an ice bucket and when finished, you got a refill! You were never waiting long without a mimosa in hand. The feta in the Greek salad was so fresh and creamy. Probably the best feta cheese I've had! The portion of the feta was also huge. My boyfriend got the lobster eggs Benedict and said it's no different than a brunch entree at a local hotel pool bar. One thing I really liked was that Astra displayed all the fresh seafood, veggies, and fruits on an ice display (behind glass) which was so nice! I do think they use a lot of fresh ingredients! The first thing that draws your attention towards this place is the beautiful pink building with flowers. Once you reach the rooftop, it's a game changer. The area is actually pretty big with lots of options to sit in and accommodations for any party. It was 8 of us and we came for brunch without reservations and were seated immediately, outside in a very spacious and comfortable couch. The waiter was nice and friendly and very accomodating to us as the sun sets in our view and they were able to open the umbrella. We did not get appetizers because we were starved and each opted for a plate. As you can see by the pictures *below* the food is fresh, made to order and actually a pretty decent size. We each got something different and tried a bit of everything off of each others plate. There was not one meal I did not like. Even the pancakes were amazing. The lobster, fries, steak I mean delicious. We also did 2 Pitchers of Mojitos. Now that I wish was more than it was. The pitcher was full of ice and we only had about 1- 1 1/2 cup each out of the 2 pitchers because the ice melted rather quickly making it watery. The night ambiance is relaxed and fun. I liked the music and the cocktails. Matias had exceptional customer service. My wife described him as "very kind." The prices are slightly higher than other areas in Wynwood, but it's completely worth it. I will return to this place the next time I'm in Miami. read more

Our office had their Christmas party here and I have to tell you I was underwhelmed. The person in our office who organized the party said that dealing with them was an issue from the get go. We got there and it had rained earlier in the day so the cushions on the seats were soaked. They put a blanket on it but it soaked through when you sat on it. The service was not great. Gave you the feeling they did not want you there. Our waitress could not smile even if her life depended on it. We were a party of about 40 and they only had one person taking drink orders. Now I'm giving it 4 stars because they did not have coffee of any kind. I found that odd especially for brunch. Alcohol was still served and very creative drinks. I will say they were good. It was not crowded at all, so there ended up not being a need to make a reservation. As for the food, soooo good. Just what I wanted, since I love my avocado toast on Sundays. This is definitely a spot I want to check out for dinner (the menu looked overall "too good to choose something"). Also, for late night when they have a DJ. I would give it a go if you don't mind a grabbing a coffee before you go, and walking around Wynwood a bit. It makes for a good Saturday or Sunday start. read more

This was our second time eating here and we thoroughly enjoyed our first experience. This time was not as good. First of all we went Valentines Day and you could only order from the special menu which was $99 a person. No exceptions could be made. The appetizers to choose from included a raw beef dish, raw fish dish, and a salad of tomatoes and cheese. My boyfriend does not eat anything raw and can't eat cheese. It was a poor selection for appetizers. The main dishes and desserts were fine. Drinks were extra so overall our bill was very pricey. We saw several instances in which people sat down only to leave after finding out the cost. Astra needs to do a better job of advertising the special. When we left there was a line mainly of younger people. I imagined many would leave after finding out it was $99 a person. Lesson learned, celebrate Valentine's Day on a different day. read more

I had the avocado toast for brunch, it's interesting because they don't give you toast... it's like a pita. Which didn't taste bad, but if you were looking something a little more filling this is misleading. I drank the Spicy Rose as it was the inky tequila beverage on the menu. When we arrived to our Saturday 7:00pm reservation the restaurant was empty, maybe a handful of people at the bar and one or two other 2 tops around us throughout our meal. It was windy and there was a live DJ the ambiance overall was very nice. Our service was extremely slow considering the lack of people in the place. Took 15 minutes to get our first round of drinks (just glasses of wine). We put in our appetizers, got them and finished and the server didn't come back to take our order for food until almost 20 min after our appetizers were finished. We probably would've ordered more drinks and food if the service wasn't so slow. This was my second time coming to Astra, after the first I said i probably wouldn't want to come again, after the second I can say I definitely wouldn't come again. You're paying for the beautiful view of the Miami rooftop, but definitely not the service and the food is all hit or miss and inconsistent. We ordered the: -Beef Carpaccio 9/10, would recommend trying -12 oysters 2/10; i'd skip the oysters, at $4 a piece they were very small not the best quality (east coast oysters I believe the night we were there). They were served with cocktail sauce but no mignonette -Lobster pasta 7/10; the sauce imo was more on the bland side very tomato-y, nothing special but had good size chunks of lobster and overall was yummy -Grilled lobster 6/10; would probably skip on the whole lobster, they didn't give me a cracker to take the meat out of the claws, also didn't come with anything except the lobster and butter sauce so definitely order a side as well (something the server could've easily upsold us on) -Filet Mignonette Paillard 8/19; cooked perfectly very tender, sauce was great, would recommend this one read more

Astra Miami Ratings Reviewer notes: I could have given this place a 3 if the server was more attentive to the lighting issue as well as to it's customers. Service: The plate was not clean as we sit down, crust was found on the corner. Appetizer took over 1 hr to come out. The light fixture at the table keep going out leaving the customers in the dark. I had to personally go to other tables to grab the lights, server should known the issue. Server did not do the courtesy check on the food for taste. Food: The octopus dish, was mediocre. Was not seasowned perfectly. The portion of hummus in the dish make the octopus looks a lot less, should be paired with pita bread. The steak dish, was okay. But portion is very astonishing for a 13 oz steak. Seasoned and paired with mash potatoes. Thinly sliced, this is not a thick cut 13 oz. My partner's salmon dish, was served warm not hot. I believe this was a service issue not the kitchens fault. But the fish came out cooked medium as she asked. The ambiance is okay, it's not the nicest view of Miami, so not sure what view is so appealing that the view should be part of the selling point in Astra's ads. The service was poor. It was as if they were doing us a favor by mixing drinks. You are seated by a waiter, but then the waiter disappears and you are to go to the bar and order and the waiter slides the drinks towards you. Then when you get the bill, there's an emphasis on tipping. Safe to say, no tip came from me. Can't reward bad service with a tip. read more

Astra is a rooftop restaurant/bar in the heart of Wynwood. It boasts a nice view of the surrounding area and a view of the downtown Miami skyline. The ambience is pretty laid back and relaxed as well. Those are the pros... The cons would be the price to portion ratio of the restaurant. While the food is good and well prepared, the portions are tiny and pricey for what you get. The drinks are pricey as well but at least those are served average sized. If you are coming here to dine then be forewarned that you will either be leaving still hungry or with a rather sizable bill. This is Wynwood so parking can get complicated at times but there are parking garages not too far away. read more

We went to Astra after dining at Sette Osteria on Saturday night. Astra's decor is beautiful, music and vibe were good, location was perfect, but what brings the stars to just two are the following: I waited over 30 minutes to get a bartender's attention. There were only 4 bartenders at the bar and it seemed like they could not handle the orders from the bar and the restaurant. There was only one beer choice available (they ran out). My cocktail was $14 and served in plastic cup. On top of that，there is an 18% tip automatically added to my bill. The charge came under Sette instead of Astra, which is confusing. The restrooms were dirty, trash all over. The garbage cans were over flowing. There were no servers walking around and asking if we needed anything. For the prices at this place and the pictures on the internet, we expected better service and up keeping. read more

Been to Wynwood so many times and randomly stumbled into Astra for the first time. The views are impressive especially at sunset and the DJ on Sundays mixes up some progressive house that sets the chill vibes. We ate small bites at the bar, the food was flavorful, well prepared and presentation was on point. The bar was the only issue, for a Sunday one bartender is unacceptable. Not to mention the bartender's attitude and lack of interest to interact with customers was a problem. I would try the bar again maybe it was a random problem that day. read more

Looking for a nice rooftop to chill with your friends? Astra might be your place. A friend told me about this cute rooftop restaurant and bar in Wynwood/Edgewater and we decided to come to check it out last night. Astra sits right upstairs of Sette Osteria and this rooftop boasts views of Wynwood and the city. The rooftop itself was really spacious and had ample seating areas. It was a perfect blend of lush greenery, comfy couches/lounge chairs, art, and hanging lights. There was also a lot of open space in between the bar and seating areas so can just stand around and chit chat as well. You should have no problem fitting all your friends here. There were no coverings so I am not sure it would be the best place to be on a rainy day. Service: The bar was definitely packed and it didn't seem like they were prepared for the crowd. Service was really slow at the bar and no one was really there to seat you when you walk in if you wanted a table. Drinks: We just came here for drinks so we did not get to try the food. I will definitely have to come back to try their food and update this review. We tried their Astra mule and it was delicious. Overall, I think Astra has a lot of potentials as the atmosphere and location are great. Service does need to be improved though.
