I have found this wonderful store for audio, sound and lighting. The staff was so helpful when I was needing stylus replacements of my shure m44-7 dj cartridge. It is discontinued but I found a wonderful replacement stylus. I am very pleased with it. Cypher helped me decide on these stylus for my turntable. To be fair the front is alright I get needles and cords every once in a while. When I went through the back last time to get directly to the repair person it seemed okay at first. Then later the quote came in at over double expected. This repair person insisted the item was a very expensive one so the quote was justified? No, this is a 20 year old speaker and I had even said it out loud when dropping off. Then he got all mean and condescending about what I thought a fair cost was or was willing to pay. Sales guy was very helpful so I was ready to spend 2 grand on a set of speakers but then was told that if you pay by credit card there's a 3% charge. That would've added like $60 more to the price and then you have tax on top of that! I left and got in my car and hopped online and found the same set of speakers on Amazon for $100 less for the pair and no 3% charge for using a Credit card. And free shipping! Get with the times guys. Not worth losing a decent sale over $60. I always want to support local, small businesses but you are making it difficult. read more

I spoke to Saul and gave him a long list of equipment that I needed. He said he would email me the quote the next day. Well, almost a month later and still no quote. Everytime I called, they say he's not in or that they'll make sure he'll call me. Either he was dodging my calls or whoever I talked to was lying to me. My daughter rented a couple of UV bars online through their webpage for a neon birthday party. $20 each and 3 lit up our entire back yard. We had neon paint, tape, plates and cups. I've rented from Astros for a couple times now. They have knowledgeable and friendly staff, and if it's your first time renting, they'll give you a great deal! They also have countless DJ gear, from needles, tables, cd players, mixers, controllers, and headphones. I would say they definitely have more to offer than guitar center or sam ash. I brought in my parent's old Sony turntable that's sat unused for years. Robert took a look at it and tuned it up. When I paid and took it home, the pitch was a bit off on it, so I took it back, but since they have a 3 month warranty on their tune-ups, Robert gladly took back to work on it and now it plays perfectly. Being a mobile DJ I have gigs every weekend. When my turntables stopped working I found Robert via great Yelp reviews. I went in expecting to have my RCA cables replaced but turns out Robert was able to diagnosis the issue and save me money because my RCA cables were just fine. I had the opportunity to take some DJ classes here at Astro and I loved them! I bought a package deal and couldn't have found it more convenient. My instructor has been always willing to work around my schedule and sometimes that was even months between classes! The staff is always helpful and knowledgeable about helping me hook up the equipment for my class. AND because I'm a student at Astro, whenever I wanna practice; as long as no one is teaching on the equipment I can just go in and practice! I was recommended this place by another DJ and told me I couldn't go wrong coming here to tune up/repair my turntables and he was right! I first inquired about my needs via Yelp and Craig advised me to contact Robert, their turntable repair guy directly during his usual schedule. I called him up today (Saturday) and he told me to bring them in to diagnose them. He is a very pleasant person and really takes his time to show you exactly what is wrong, how it should be working and tells you how he will go about repairing. He was very honest and didn't try to push any unnecessary work on my tables. Luckily for me, he was able to get me out with my tables ready to go the very same afternoon. poor customer service for RENTALS. I called in to rent a pair of active speakers. After a couple minutes on hold and a call back, the rental associate quoted me $40 per speaker, $50 for equipment pick up from the venue. The rental associate said I would have to fill out a credit card authorization form to pre-pay to reserve the equipment. I gave him my email over the phone (over many attempts, he kept getting the spelling wrong). He verbally promised the email by the end of the day. The e-mail never came. I called the next day to find out what was going on, the same rental associate claimed he had sent the e-mail to my address. I had him send the email to a different e-mail address which was successful. The associate sounded frustrated at me because of the e-mail incident. The quote package was different than previously quoted. the quote for delivery was now $65 for equipment pick up from the venue. the quote package also contained my MISspelled e-mail in the title. I had enough. I was ready to drop $150+ with this business for a rental job, but I was tired of the inconsistent communication, feeling like the rental associate was too busy to get to me, and not listening clearly to get my contact info. (i spelled it multiple times for him). I got my rental done elsewhere which much more satisfactory service. read more

Brought my Sanyo Architect Series in because the Phono input was faulty and not carrying the left channel to the speakers. Robert charges a fair $45 dollar diagnostic fee, but if you proceed with repairs, that fee rolls over into your final bill. Great customer service and prompt repair. He took it apart, tested and troubleshooted, cleaned and re-soldered the RCA jacks. It works like a charm. Total cost was $75! I think it's invaluable to have someone like Robert around who knows consumer electronics and how to keep them going. I will definitely return for future repairs. read more
