We went here recently for a Child's Birthday Party and had an excellent experience! For starters, I was really impressed with the quality of the skating floor. We've been to some rinks around here and the floor is really greasy/oily. If you know, you know that really makes it hard to fully maintain full control when turning and cutting. We also really appreciated that they had a little corner of the floor tucked away for the little skaters. Our little one loved it over there as an escape from the crowd and more experienced skaters. Also, in the larger sizes they had some really nice roller hockey style inline skates. I don't think there are enough of those to cover all sizes, but if you are lucky enough to get a pair, they definitely looked legit. We'll definitely be back to this location again. The DJ also played a good mix of old school vs new school music. read more

I waited a week to write this review so that I could reflect on the experience calmly and objectively. Unfortunately, our experience hosting a birthday party at Astro Skate was very disappointing. We booked a party for my granddaughter's 8th birthday, reserving space for up to 20 children. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a hostess, Dorthy, who informed us she would be assigned to our party. Four tables were reserved for us, which was appreciated, though they were not set up at the time. Since the party was not scheduled to begin until 3:30, this was not initially an issue, especially as I had brought themed tablecloths from a birthday kit I purchased separately. Once the party began, we realized that our hostess had not returned since our initial check-in. When guests began asking for drinks, the stepfather went to locate her. She eventually brought five pitchers of drinks, but no cups. When cups were requested, only five were provided. Thankfully, I had brought cups as part of the birthday kit. We next saw the hostess when she asked whether I wanted pizza for 16 children (the number who attended) or the full 20 originally reserved. Since the pricing is based on the number of children who attend, I did not understand why ordering pizza for 20 would be necessary or beneficial, as it would have resulted in paying extra for minimal additional food. I confirmed pizza for 16 children. The pizza took a very long time to arrive. When the stepfather checked on the delay, he learned that our pizzas had mistakenly been delivered to another party and had to be remade. Once the pizza finally arrived, drinks again ran out, and we had to seek out staff ourselves for refills. After the children finished eating, we handled most of the cleanup ourselves, including clearing trash and returning empty pizza pans to the snack bar. At this point, I attempted to speak with a manager. The employee at the front stated she would notify the manager, but no one came. I later learned the manager was DJing and approached him directly. He appeared genuinely surprised that our hostess had been absent and that we had been handling the responsibilities ourselves. Someone was briefly sent over to assist. Trash was removed, drinks were refilled, and an extra pizza tray (from an additional pizza we purchased for adults) was cleared. After that, once again, no staff were present. The next and final time we saw our hostess was when it was time to settle the bill. In total, we paid approximately $300, which seemed to cover little more than 16 admissions and two pizzas. Given the lack of service, it would have been far more cost-effective to simply have everyone meet us there rather than booking a party package. We did the majority of the work ourselves, including cleanup and repeatedly seeking out drinks. The purpose of assigning a hostess is unclear if they are not present or providing assistance throughout the event. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet expectations for a hosted birthday party. read more

The guy handing out the skates was super rude!! The process of getting skates and a training is super inefficient. Stand in line to get skates only to have to go back to the front to pay for a trainer then go back and stand in the skate line again(which was super long). By the time my child was able to skate was 35 minutes. Maybe mention this as your checking people in or have better signage. And then when ask about how it works don't be rude because of your inefficiency. read more

Went with a group where there were about 100 kids and they did a ghost busters song where the Dj would say skate in the opposite direction every so often maybe 6 times in the song. Well No one can hear the dj say anything at all and it's all kaios. Its actually not just kaios it's super dangerous. Kids are falling to turn around or just not paying attention to the song. read more

I don't Normally do something like this, but I cannot and will not support a business that excludes someone because they are in a wheelchair. Tonight was school night for my daughter's school at Astro skate. My husband has spoken of his memories attending Astro skate as a child to me for years. In 2010 my husband lost his legs overseas and is currently wheelchair bound. We have 2 children a 3 year old and 4 year old and we're excited to have a fun filled night as a family. Seconds after entering the skate floor, he was told he must get off the floor because he's in a wheelchair. I went to speak to management to understand why he can't be on the floor and the manager told me it's a danger to himself and the kids. Mind you we had to sign a waiver to participate. I explained that my husband had more control in his wheelchair than an intermediate person does on their skates. I then asked what they would do if it were a child in a wheelchair and he responded they don't allow them on the floors. I don't often pull this card, but my husband who bravely fought for this country was denied the privilege of "skating" with his children tonight. I demanded a refund and left. Astro Skate do better! read more

I had a small birthday party for my daughter here. All of the kids were age 6 and most had never skated. We went to the Saturday skate lesson time and the coaches were wonderful! They even got one of our girls to skate and have fun who was fearful to try. There was a different free item/experience brought out every 30 minutes. We all had an amazing time and the staff there is incredibly hard working and professional and does a wonderful job! The pizza was good. We will be back. I highly recommend this place, adults can re-live their wonderful childhood skate memories and kids can make them! read more

If you are a kid or adult who loves feeling like a kid again this is the place for you! If you don't like skating and you are dragged here due to a child's birthday party well your kind of out of luck. You can't miss the Building since it is hot pink! My favorite color but really, it's not a color meant for a building!! But you sure don't accidentally drive by and miss it so if that's what the owners are going for then they certainly accomplished it. I'm going to break down my review in different areas since it's not just fainted but for a value and the fun that you have while here. I would say the food is comparable to Pizza Hut or a McDonald's. You're not gonna love really anything but it is food that fills your belly while exerting a lot of energy. For the entertainment value I would give it a high score. They have a lot of things to do while here. If you get bored of Skating you can take your skates off and head to the dance room on the side of the rink. Or if you don't feel like dancing go to the middle of the rink and jump in the bounce house. Now for the staff. It doesn't seem like they have the best staffing options for this place since most are clueless teenagers. Don't get me wrong they are all sweet but they're texting or paying attention to somebody else there talking to and not fully engaged in helping the customers. The manager that is always there seems to be the most helpful person to deal with. All in all my kids love going here and so I have to go. read more

We completely enjoy all of the Astro Skate centers in pinellas county. The kids love to come and enjoy themselves. Us parents love it because the kids get to be active and do something different besides staying on their phones. At most centers, they have $1 skate plus the price of skate rental. That's a good deal. Definitely worth the time of enjoying the kids without breaking ur pocket. read more

Took my daughter and about 12 of her friends to Astro Skate mid December for her birthday. She's 14 so she said she's too old for the birthday party package so we opted for to do the Sunday $1 skate. Wow what a big savings! The skating rink was clean and the staff was nice. I bought the girls two pizzas and 2 pitchers of soda which I think was $40. Overall it was a success. I would recommend visiting here if you want to find someone indoors to skate. read more

No. Just no. We brought our son & his friend here for Dollar Day on a Sunday. After getting roller skates and pvc trainers it was much more than a dollar for each kid, but I kind of figured that would happen. That's not what got me. Here's my beef: - First and foremost, the corner they've set up for the beginners to practice in is also the breezeway for skaters that want to sit along the back wall. So you've got kids flying through this tight corner while little kids are trying to learn how to skate. I about had a heart attack with all of the near collisions. Who planned out this building? - When I went to sit on one of the carpeted benches along the back wall, it was completely soaked with water from a nearby vent and it smelled musty as hell. I had that dank smell all over me for the remainder of our visit. - It is far more than chaotic here. I pretty much had to keep my arms up wherever I walked, just to avoid the swarms of kids speeding by and nearly trampling me. Mind you, this was on the carpet near the seating area, not on the skating rink itself. The workers here do not moderate this sort of behavior, and neither do the parents. I am a parent, I love kids, and I've been to skating rinks that function much more efficiently. Just needed to throw that out there before I'm interpreted as a Scrooge. I gave it two stars here because my son had a decent time. Would I come back here? Not if I could help it. read more

Growing up in the area, Astro Skate has always held a special place in my heart. I spent lots of time as a child here and finally decided to go back as an adult to see if it was as fun as I remembered. It was fantastic. The DJ played a mix of hits and old school jams along with requests. The decor still has the 90s space theme but has been updated. The games are still corny but fun. They still sing the hokey pokey and have races. I've been back several times with a group of adults and kids and the adults have all had a blast. The only cons are the food and the speaker system. The food is pretty terrible and you won't find a healthy option at all on their menu. The speaker system needs an update badly. Bass-shaking beats sound pretty terrible. read more

The rink itself is okay - fun decor. It's right up the road from me but I won't take my kids there because of the owner. I've heard from more than one person (who worked there or has known someone who has) that he's obnoxious and really opinionated (a loud, obnoxious "bigot" is how one friend described him). I guess he figures he's the "boss" and that makes it okay to say whatever he wants without considering it might offend people around him. While I like the idea of this place, it's the execution I have a problem with. Half the games in the small or arcade don't work. And of the ones that do work and give tickets, each ticket is only worth a penny. That is a big rip off. Specially since the games that do work or are either $.50 or a dollar to play. I just paid $21 for my 3 kids to skate today and they got kicked off the floor for "fast skating" 3 minutes after they got here. They are all excellent skaters and being very safe. Might be a good place for toddlers but not if you actually want to skate. read more

I love this place. A great time for the family. Saturday they have family night 5 people for 20 bucks. (skates not include) Sunday from 3pm-5pm is dollar skate! The floor guards are helpful and keep the rink rats under control. Also Wednesday night they have 6 dollar skate for kids (parents are 3.00) which includes free pizza and cotton candy for the first hour! I love that they play old school freestyle from the 90's! Brings me back! They have a full snack bar. This is a cash only kind of place. read more

Astro Skate Tarpon Springs is a very well known business in the area, I give them credit for reaching out into the schools and bringing people back into the rink. There employees are always friendly and very welcoming and I have never had a problem with them. Sometimes the building looks a little run down and old, I wish they would just paint the walls and make the rink come back to life. Overall I would give this rink a C+, if you have the time and gas go tryout the Astro Skate in Pinellas Park. read more

My children and I had the most horrible experience here. My daughter's school had an event and it was awful. There were two openings to obtain skates, of which only one was open and the line was ridiculously long. They obviously did not staff appropriately to accommodate this event. Additionally, my daughters needed the PVC pipe assisters to help them skate, so I again waited in the long line, to be told that I needed to go to the front and pay for them first and then wait in the long line again to get them. I did so and when I got to the window I was told that they were out of them, but that I could go back to the front and get a refund... Unbelievable. Following this, both of my daughters were in tears because they could not skate and enjoy themselves. Furthermore, there was not enough seating. We purchased food, however, they had 7 long tables blocked off where no one could sit, of which I was told the tables were for a birthday party the following day and they did not want to have to set it up again. It was a table cloth, some paper plates and a few birthday hats on 1 of the 7 tables. Opening the area to accommodate your guests, putting a table cloth, paper plates and birthday hats back on the table of which would take all of 30 seconds would have been the better move. Completely ridiculous. The place was dingy, old, smelly and the bathrooms were not clean either. Very unhappy with the entire experience. read more

my 7 year old child was attending the Astro skate day camp. Just recently he went on a field trip to the pool and somehow left the pool got on the bus went to the Pinellas area Astro skate got on another bus and went back to the tarpon astro skate without shoes. Apparently he had left them at the pool but somehow nobody noticed that a 7 year old child was traveling around the Tampa Bay area without shoes. Absolutely astonishing to me that you could call yourself a facility that cares for children and not notice this. when I brought it to the general manager attention she seemed less than interested in the situation and gave me the run around for about a week. When I asked to speak to the owner about the problem he refused to speak with me and offered me a free day. In which I declined stating I would never bring my child back to that facility knowing my child wasn't properly being cared for. read more

Just got home from a school trip to astro skate 06/29/17 with fuguitt elementary school. Well I have to say it was the worst school trip I have ever been on. The bus was over heating all the way there from Seminole 10 miles per hr, with no AC full bus 3 to a seat smoke pouring out the back and coming in the windows, on US 19. thank god there was another parent following the bus with her hazards on. If that wasn't bad enough the place was so disorganized way too many groups at one time. not enough staff or equipment. I paid $5.00 for a helper walker for my son and only got to use it for about 3mins, and it was time to get off the floor and get our shoes. What a mess they lost about 3 to 5 kids shoes and were very nasty to the children. I would never let my child go on another field trip with his school to this place. Transportation was dangerous and so was the skating ring. I feel bad for the kids they were very disappointed. So I wouldn't even give they 1 star. read more
