I've never had a bad time at skate world. The staff are nice, the food is good, you make friends, and obviously the skating is really fun. If you're looking for a place to skate at in Tampa come here

The reason for the one stat review; lack of up keep lack of care and poor employee attitude. Our experience was so bad my six year old daughter who loves roller skating asked me to never take her to this location again. I brought game tokens just to find out half the games were out of service and 2 of the five 'operable' games kept malfunctioning. Each time we went to get an employee the were rude and acted as if we were keeping them from something important.

Atmosphere/facility: I felt like I was a kid again in the 90s. The music was fun, and the interior was a typical roller rink. The carpets have definitely seen better days, and I wish it wasn't a step down into the rink, but it was nice that they have a bench like seating area on the rink along the wall. It's a good spot for parents to watch or new skaters to take a break. They had a theme day for summer, which was fun for the kiddos. There was a camp there and several other families, but not insanely busy. the arcade is relatively small, and I never went into the laser tag area or the bath rooms. Food: We really didn't order food, just a drink. It did look like a typical roller rink/bowling/arcade type food. The service was quick, and they had a good amount of options. Service: Across all areas, everyone was super helpful and really kind. I had no complaints. Price: 11 for skating and 5 for rentals, plus 5 for a step-up device for new learners. It was not terrible, we participated in the theme, so our skate rentals were free. So I'd keep an eye out for specials being run. We definitely had a great time. For indoor, air conditioned fun, that gets your body moving buy not subjecting yourself to heat stroke, this is an EXCELLENT OPTION.

We had a Rent-the-Rink party! And it was awesome! Due to the pandemic, SkateWorld, is genius and has pivoted their business to fulfill our childhood dream of "wouldn't it be so cool to have the entire rink to ourselves?!" SkateWorld can make that happen for a few hundred dollars and 15 of your friends! Our experience was epic with full on glow lights and excellent DJ music! Hands down such a great memory for us to have forever and great way to spend my daughters 27th birthday!

Great place to come skating. $20 for an adult and child with 2x skate rentals and a skate bar. We both had a blast. They have contests for the kids with prizes, play good music and have a cosmic skate too. Great fun way to escape the heat.

My husband and I are from Louisiana and trying to keep skating alive! We bring our own Harlick Roller Skates made in California, USA. For the past 10+ years we have made it our goal to skate in each state! We love to JAM, slow walk, and couple dance skate on Adult Skate Night. I soon realized there is a skating rink open nearby. Also, I enjoy a smooth hard wood floor to dance skate on. The positive energy at this rink was excellent. There were many games for children that do not like to skate with prizes. There are many tables for big parties or dining. The parking lot was well lit and felt safe. The DJ and the staff did a superb job. We had a great time.

Workers were very attentive ensuring kids and adults alike were OK after falling. Didn't see any workers staring at phones or negligent. One star off for the nonsense liability form. I work in cybersecurity and I really can't believe I scanned that qr code and filled out the form. Major security implications doing that. And I haven't skated in 25 years and in my 40s. I crushed it.

Extremely rude people working there. I don't get why they need to treat people this way. They made me feel unwelcome.

Now, in May 2026, he has graduated from the program and moved on to Hockey 101 at age 5. We truly have nothing bad to say about the program or the coaches. They have always treated our son with love, patience, and respect. Even though there are many children in each session, the coaches consistently make an effort to provide one-on-one feedback to every child, regardless of skill level. They are kind, encouraging, and genuinely seem to love what they do. We are incredibly proud of how far our son has come, and so are his coaches. The program director, Vinny, has been especially wonderful. He is professional, caring, and so sweet with all the kids. What really stood out to us is that he remembered our son by name and even recalled when he first started the program. He was just as excited as we were when our son moved up to Hockey 101, which meant a lot to us as parents. The facilities are always clean, the rinks are very well maintained, and the overall environment feels welcoming and organized. The food is pretty good, and the snack bar is perfect for grabbing a quick bite or drink, although I do feel some items are a bit overpriced. The hockey shop has also been an amazing resource for us. The staff there are truly a delight. They are patient with our son, even when he gets easily distracted, and they never try to upsell unnecessary equipment. Instead, they work within your budget and genuinely try to help you find the best option possible. You can also tell they truly enjoy interacting with the kids. Since we were completely new to hockey when we started, they took the time to teach us how to lace skates properly, make sure equipment fit correctly, and they even taped our son's stick for us. Over time, we've started to feel a real sense of community at the rink, and a lot of that comes from the positive environment created by the skating program and staff. We have also enrolled our son in private one-on-one lessons, and Coach Ava has been a fantastic fit for him. She is kind, fun, professional, and wonderful with children. Overall, we are incredibly grateful for the positive experience our family has had at Center Ice. Watching our son grow in confidence and skill here has been really special for us. You can see the progression in the pics! lol

The kids were excited all day to go, and had picked out their derby names before we left. Once we got there, parking was overflowing into KMart across the street from the SkatePlex in Tampa. After getting tix, getting in, and setting up our seats (good idea to bring fold up chairs), we were right on time for the action. The first bout was very entertaining, both travel teams were excellent. In the end Tampa Bay pulled ahead, mostly due to excellent speed and agility by Jammer Barbie Bont. The kids stuffed themselves with junk food, got their hair painted, and bought t-shirts between the 2 bouts. I had a couple of beers to get into the mood of the event, PBR being a sponsor of the TBDD. The second bout started off a bit slower, with lots of tactics and few chances being taken. In the end, the Mafia won by only 2 points. A tremendous bout. We are all excited to go to the next event on September 10th. You should really make it a point to go!

It's connected to a bowling alley (literally connected), but we spent our time in the skating rink and didn't journey to the bowling alley part of the building. The rink is in serious need of updating. If you are thinking this is going to be bad, you are wrong. Roller Derby fans and participants are very much into the sport and they put on a great show. There is even a designated person walking around willing to explain what the heck is going on :-) The Roller Derby itself was fun to watch, exciting at times, and once we understood the rules, like watching any other sporting event. The rest of the experience outside of the actual roller derby sport was unique and enjoyable. Raffle tickets were sold, there was an intermission show (fencing), pamphlets were passed around for a non-profit, and there are souvenirs and food for sale. Everyone should go to Roller Derby at least once in their life. I absolutely recommend giving this a try.

We've been to some rinks around here and the floor is really greasy/oily. If you know, you know that really makes it hard to fully maintain full control when turning and cutting. We also really appreciated that they had a little corner of the floor tucked away for the little skaters. Our little one loved it over there as an escape from the crowd and more experienced skaters. Also, in the larger sizes they had some really nice roller hockey style inline skates. I don't think there are enough of those to cover all sizes, but if you are lucky enough to get a pair, they definitely looked legit. We'll definitely be back to this location again. Unfortunately, our experience hosting a birthday party at Astro Skate was very disappointing. We booked a party for my granddaughter's 8th birthday, reserving space for up to 20 children. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a hostess, Dorthy, who informed us she would be assigned to our party. Four tables were reserved for us, which was appreciated, though they were not set up at the time. Since the party was not scheduled to begin until 3:30, this was not initially an issue, especially as I had brought themed tablecloths from a birthday kit I purchased separately. Once the party began, we realized that our hostess had not returned since our initial check-in. When guests began asking for drinks, the stepfather went to locate her. She eventually brought five pitchers of drinks, but no cups. When cups were requested, only five were provided. Thankfully, I had brought cups as part of the birthday kit. We next saw the hostess when she asked whether I wanted pizza for 16 children (the number who attended) or the full 20 originally reserved. Since the pricing is based on the number of children who attend, I did not understand why ordering pizza for 20 would be necessary or beneficial, as it would have resulted in paying extra for minimal additional food. I confirmed pizza for 16 children. The pizza took a very long time to arrive. When the stepfather checked on the delay, he learned that our pizzas had mistakenly been delivered to another party and had to be remade. Once the pizza finally arrived, drinks again ran out, and we had to seek out staff ourselves for refills. After the children finished eating, we handled most of the cleanup ourselves, including clearing trash and returning empty pizza pans to the snack bar. At this point, I attempted to speak with a manager. The employee at the front stated she would notify the manager, but no one came. I later learned the manager was DJing and approached him directly. He appeared genuinely surprised that our hostess had been absent and that we had been handling the responsibilities ourselves. Someone was briefly sent over to assist. Trash was removed, drinks were refilled, and an extra pizza tray (from an additional pizza we purchased for adults) was cleared. After that, once again, no staff were present. The next and final time we saw our hostess was when it was time to settle the bill. In total, we paid approximately $300, which seemed to cover little more than 16 admissions and two pizzas. Given the lack of service, it would have been far more cost-effective to simply have everyone meet us there rather than booking a party package. We did the majority of the work ourselves, including cleanup and repeatedly seeking out drinks. The purpose of assigning a hostess is unclear if they are not present or providing assistance throughout the event. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet expectations for a hosted birthday party.
