I have had to go to the store twice in the last couple years, both in moments of great panic. Once my phone was in the bottom of the ocean, and the other time I somehow deactivated my eSIM, and the customer service people online could not help me. Both times I was helped by Vanessa, who is knowledgeable, calm, collected, and just made the situation so much better. If all customer service professionals could handle things as a adeptly as like Vanessa with a calm confident energy like she had, I believe we would have many fewer problems in our lives. read more

I'm not surprised at all by the yelp reviews for this AT&T location. I came in a few days ago, simply to replace my daughter's phone. It was a semi urgent need, as I was leaving the state the next morning. We came in about 30 mins prior to closing. Asked if we could get a new phone as the one my daughter has just about completely died. Yes, I can help you with that. I said thank you, I know it's the end of your day and we didn't want to keep you late. He (Samuel) literally rolled his eyes and said it's fine. He said he had a iPhone 16 and and iPhone 17 pro max. We requested the iPhone 16. Samuel went to the back to unlock the vault which is on a timer. No problem. While we were waiting Samuel started talking to us about our plan and how he could save us all this money per month by upgrading our service. We said thank you not right now. We do plan on getting new phones as well just not trying to do it all at this moment, we just want to get a replacement for now. Samuel then began to talk down to us, was extremely rude and condescending. He literally spun the monitor of his computer to show us the discounts he could provide. Again we said no thank you just the replacement phone. He kept going are you sure, it's quite a savings... Again we thanked him and said not right now. He began to argue with my husband about this. Then he said very loudly and with all the attitude "Ok sir, I won't try to save you any money" "I understand you don't want me to save you anything" followed by another eye roll. My husband does not have the temperament for this behavior, but he held his tongue, because this was an urgent and the only location still open. Hy husband asked the general questions like how to transfer all the contact, photo, apps ext. Samuel made a heavy sigh and said you just turn on the phones, set them side by side and they will talk to each other, follow the prompts and the phone will do the rest. When my husband asked follow up question it was extremely clear Samuel no longer wanted to help us with our purchase. Samuel's demeanor, condescending attitude were beyond unprofessional. Then we finally got the new phone out of the vault we were given and charged for an iPhone 17 pro max. Not at all the phone we asked to get, and because it was opened we had no other choice but to keep it. When I called the Alameda location directly and asked who the manager is for this store I was told ohh he's not here. I said, that was not my question, I asked who is the manager to which I was told they do not know who the manager is. If I could give zero stars I would. As long as Samuel is still working here don't bother with this store. I did have a nice long conversation with AT&T Loyalty Dept and let them know exactly how this location is treating their customers. read more

The only reason that I am not giving cashier Khuvituguldur (goes by Hookah apparently) one star is that he managed to help me with a trade-in. Our entire conversation was terribly frustrating. Hookah was rude, curt, bored and dismissive. Apparently I did not have all of my codes memorized ( iCloud password, Apple password, my AT&T password) when I attempted to review, my updated AT&T bill online. The funny thing is he couldn't help me set it up either,,,even after I provided him all my passwords I am a senior citizen and his impatience was very apparent. Please don't bother going into this store for anything. The people working here are lazy and rude. Went in December to see if they could do an exchange on a phone that was sent in error by customer service by AT&T at the recommendation of AT&T themselves not because I decided to it was an option they gave me over the phone and the response I rudely got from a Latina girl working there was why was I there that that's something I should handle with customer service over the phone. Her tone and attitude said she hates customer service working there and people in general why they have someone like that working there is beyond me. That set me off and rubbed me the wrong way so I told her I wanted to speak with the manager who happened to be an Asian guy helping a gentleman already at the store. I patiently waited only to be addressed in the same rude why are you bothering me with this manner but at least he explained that they were retail and not corporate so they could not do an exchange. These people are miserable and hate their jobs and really should not be dealing with the public. But they did do me a favor because thanks to them I did cancel my services with AT&T and now I am happily experiencing real customer service, better reception, and lower prices at T-mobile. read more

This is no one store in particular I was unable to find an overall number. I got a lot of information from Autobots, that transferred me to other Autobots. The saying "if it's too good to be true, it probably is". I was caught with my guard down - half asleep. The promise 4 free phones and lower monthly bill was appealing. That's when I should have stopped. There was the first $400 to set up the service. I listened to at least 6 autobots before speaking to a telephone operator and 4 supervisors before talking to someone about a bill over $500 - once I reached a human I was given a list of charges. Supportive services, signal strength, maintenance, insurance, and more. I called the original salesman, he calculated while I was on the phone. $183. My next call - the person tells me "Yes, the phone bill is $183 - that's added to the previous list - Including the monthly payment for the 4 'devices'.. do you mean telephones? after a bit of back and forth - she said 'yes'. "does it makes sense, or is it a contradiction being charged a monthly fee for 'free' telephones?" "Well, we don't call them phones they're devices." I don't curse - but came close. Then, how about the millions of breached telephone information. I checked of course. A telephone operator told me I didn't have to worry, my phone wasn't affected. It wasn't in my area. There was no "please hold, let me check". She answered without leaving the phone. Found out two days later one of my co-workers had been sent a message - she was one of the many affected. She lives one city away from me. Not more than 15 miles, but, My area wasn't affected. O.K., lets move on. What's wrong: , funny thing it even happened while I was on the phone with a tech. She asked if there was wi-fi from another source in my house. Or, maybe there's interference from neighboring sources. No let me figure this out. ?????? What type of sense does that make ? The ring tone changes at any time. The telephone rings when it's on silent, and loud. The volume changes or sometimes drops calls if I hold the phone too close to my face. The control buttons on the phone - not just volume - but the off and on button- operate randomly. There are many other things, but I have to comment about the cable. It was a package. I would get 50 or 60 - channels,......some wild number. I can't remember, it was a ruse anyway, This included the free movie channels like Peacock, Tubi to name a few. I scrolled the channels - most of the 50 or 60 only to find most of those channels were promotional and sales, etc. No my feet don't hurt. Yes I can hear. My laundry detergent cleans fine. My ladder is tall enough, I don't have coyotes, I don't like those dresses for summer, winter or fall. I don't need 2 (buy one get one free) self cleaning dishes, self changing diapers or massage chairs that comb your hair and brush your teeth. Plus, the free channels....you're right, they costs. Just a small sum to cover service charges and maintenance fees. There's a joke. This company is horrible. One of the worst mistakes I've made - and I've made regrettable mistakes. When you get the phone call, or are approached at COSTCO...tell them NO NO a thousand times NO. Maybe even call the police for stealing. read more

THIS STORE WILL SCAM YOU. They are VERY nice when they are trying to sell you something, but will promise you a trade in value for your phone ($1000) that they will not honor once they've transferred all your information to your new phone (and purchased several accessories from them). So you're stuck with returning the phone and transferring all the information back or just taking the lower trade in amount ($350). Read the reviews, they've done this before. When I asked the store manager Jesse for help fixing this, he was extremely rude and honestly it was frightening how quickly he flipped from "friendly guy" to "I'm the STORE MANAGER I can talk to you however I want." This is an exact quote. This is a licensed retail store, I'd avoid it at all costs. Go to the corporate owned stores on Lakeshore or in Emeryville, hopefully they have better practices. read more

I had issues with Apple Watch family activation for like a week and I am a tech guy. ATT telephone support was not able to figure it out. I walked in and had the Watch activated in 20 minutes (needed Watch factory reset and iCloud restore). It looks like Apple Watch has hidden glitches which require tribal knowledge. I don't know who was working there when people gave 4 and 5 star reviews, but they certainly weren't when I went. I walked in to 3 kids on their phones, none of them even bothering to look up. After a while one of them asks what I want. I told her an iPhone 10 but the small version, didn't know what it was called but I had been in several days ago and someone had told me about it. She asked who, and I saw the guy so I pointed him out. He looks surprised and a little irritated to be interrupted. The girl laughs and says ' you're not busy, right? You can help her.' Like it's an inconvenience to help a customer. So I have some questions and he gives me one word monotone answers. I ask if I can hold a couple of the phones to see how heavy they are and compare them. He says 'no, I ain't gonna take them outta there'. (They were held in place by clips and bolted to blocks. I don't imagine it would would be too tough to remove them for a customer to hold). I was livid and walked out. This store needs some adult supervision. It is clear that none of these kids has the remotest inkling of what customer service means. Or they do and just dgaf. read more

To whom ever manages this branch, please work on your staff's customer service and maintain your store. It was run down much like that girl's attitude. As soon as we walked in we were acknowledged by a young female employee who was working with someone else. She was the only employee in the store and she clearly wasn't happy to be there. The customer before us left without completing her transaction and it seemed she left unhappy. When it was our turn, she stayed seated across the store from where we were looking at phones and just said "how can I help you?" I told her I was due to upgrade my iPhone 6 and she said, "to what?" with such an attitude. So I responded, "another iPhone." And her response was, "like which one? An 8? An X?..." and proceeded to tap on her binder as if I was suppose to know. And I responded, "I don't know what the difference in each are." She reached out to a drawer and slammed a cracked iPhone 8 demo model on the table and some of the screen flew off the phone. At that point, we decided to leave and go somewhere else. I get that she was working on Labor Day but that doesn't excuse her tone, attitude and aggressive slamming. Perhaps she had a bad day but that wasn't my problem. read more

Based upon all the negative reviews on this store, I was very hesitant to go here. However, I needed to sign up for a data plan for my iPad and didn't want to leave the island. I figured I'd give them a try but was prepared to walk out if the employees were unprofessional. I was very pleasantly surprised by the professionalism shown towards my husband and me. We were greeted and helped immediately by Fernando and the gentleman who was training him. I'm sorry I didn't get his name. They immediately set me up with a very affordable data plan and it only took a few minutes. Both men wete very efficient and professional. They are a retail store, not a corporate store, so if you want to return your phone good luck. They won't take it back even though they sold it to you. I have had a hell of a time trying to get a refund for a phone that doesn't work. AT&T corporate won't take it back because I bought it from a retail store! What type of service is that. I've been going to this store for a few years now and have found them to be helpful and informative. There is sometimes a wait but they have always acknowledged me when I arrived and got to me asap. I recently bought an s22 ultra through them and they got me a really good deal with a trade in of my s7 edge. When the phone came in they were very helpful in transferring everything over etc. I had a problem with my voicemail the other day so I stopped by and was helped by Herve. I went into the store yesterday to purchase an Apple Watch. The young sales representative came out to help me, and immediately was very disrespectful and not listening to what I want. I did let them know that I had spoke to somebody over the phone who said that I could trade in my Apple Watch and get credit and he looked at my Apple Watch and said it was dirty. I did not respond and felt humiliated but still said nothing. I should've asked his name but I didn't, but I will not return to the store and did end of going to Best Buy and purchase an Apple Watch there. I do have an account with AT&T and actually have multiple services tied to my account I almost feel like getting another company to handle my needs. read more

THIS IS NOT A REVIEW OF THE AT&T STORE. IT'S HERE BY MISTAKE. My phone had not allowed me to make several call and texts. Some times if would work, sometimes it wouldn't. When it didn't work a window would come on telling me that my device was not connected to a mobile network. Then it said to connect to a Wi-Fi network and try again. Like every one, I'm not always connected to a Wi-Fi network and I don't want to pay for a phone I can only use with Wi-Fi. So, yesterday, seeking some help from someone who should know more about it than me, I went to the T-Mobile store on 5th Street in Alameda. As I walked in I saw 3 people behind the counter talking to 1 woman. After standing there a while, one of the workers gave me the old "We'll be with you in a minute". So, after the 4 party conversation, which I seriously doubt was phone related, went on a bit more and I didn't leave, one of the workers asked me what I needed. I told him about the problem and he used my phone to call the phone at the counter and, of course, my phone worked. He then said "It's working now", as if he had done some major surgery that had saved a life. Again, I explained that it sometimes worked and he said "It's probably because it's an old phone". It's an S-20. It isn't new, but it's also not that old. Did he check the settings or ask me any questions? No. He did the bare minimum to get me to leave without him having to do anything. Today I called the T-Mobile help # and a woman spent 20 minutes asking me questions, running tests on my phone, etc, and efficiently doing what she is paid to do. I think she solved my problem. Even if my phone continues to act up, I don't foresee any future situation that will ever take me back to that T-Mobile location. Monday: OBVIOUSLY THIS REVIEW WAS INTENDED FOR THE T-MOBILE STORE ON 5th STREET IN ALAMEDA. I DON'T KNOW HOW IT LANDED HERE. I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN THE AT&T STORE AND I HAVE NO OPNION OF THEIR SERVICE. This store is bad news. First of all, the person working there was unhelpful in the extreme, had a dark attitude and had a teardrop (I'm not kidding) tattooed under his eye. I was never able to complete my business there because he was so inept, but when I went to the corporate store in Oakland the very nice manager there told me that it looked like whatever store I went to previously had tried to do fraudulent activity on my account and in the future I should only use the corporate store. Nefarious phone store employees are frequently involved in SIM swapping identity scams in conjunction with hackers so it could have been that, but I really don't know. At any rate, don't go to the Alameda store and certainly don't have this person work on your account. read more

Hands down the worst AT&T store I have ever been to in my life. I normally go to the Emeryville store as there are multiple customer service agents available. But living, and working, in Alameda I thought my son and I could go there for a quick question. We get there at 6:00pm and only man is working the entire store. He is helping a family so we are waiting off to the side, very close by. After 20 minutes he still did not even acknowledge we had entered yet alone say anything about getting to us shortly. By 6:30 with out even a glance in our direction I say excuse me and ask if I can leave my son as it is my son's phone we have the problem we need to have addressed. He doesn't look at me but says, "only if he is an authorized user". He is with another family, I don't want to be rude to them, but I ask him what that means, my son has a phone number, is that enough? No answer. I have to be somewhere at this point so apologize to the couple he was helping for interrupting, grab my teen boy and leave. I have there multiple times in the past, they are always under staffed, from the they opened, but never was I treated, or not treated, so rudely. I will never set foot in that store again. read more

I came he because I have some photo issues with my at&t phone. They basicly told to go to Emeryville to the best buy geek squad. They didn't even look at my phone. I would love to speak to a manager. I was having trouble syncing my new iphone through the trade in program and decided to walk over to the AT&T store. Hans was there to help me and he was patient and kind. Clearly I was interrupting his lunch but he took the time to help me. He took the time to help me sync my phone and told me what I needed to do to finish syncing the phone when I got home. I walked away a really happy customer even though I had done the trade in online. I would highly recommend you go in to the store and ask for Hans if you have any issues. He went above and beyond, had great customer service and a friendly smile :) read more
