This location is severely understaffed. We waited 30 minutes without any contact from anyone letting us know how much longer we would have to stay there. When we finally were able to briefly speak with someone, we were told that there were three more people on the list in front of us. There were three sales people, and each sales interaction seem to take 25 to 30 minutes each. No one needs AT&T that much, with T-Mobile and Verizon a two minute walk away. No one even acknowledged that I walked into the store. Other people walked in and they greeted them but they just completely ignored me till I picked out my phone case. Then an employee said "do you just need a case" I said yes and he just walked away from me. I'm guessing I was supposed to sign my name into a waiting list but since they never greeted me I didn't even know where that was. Seriously, horrible business layout don't bother going here. If all you wanna do is buy an accessory there's no one to ring you up. If you want a quick transaction you have to wait for someone to free up from signing people up for accounts. I'm giving this two stars because one of their employees was quick and helpful and made the experience great: the experience I had two days later was ridiculous. I previously bought a charger that was defective and took it back to exchange. I didn't have my ID so they wouldn't give my discount... that wasn't an issue two days before. I swear the manager was ridiculous and acted like I was trying to exchange an iPhone without my id. It was a charger: and I had the receipt on my phone. Be careful here young ladies. Weirdo employees will riffle through your pictures if you leave your phone unattended and unprotected. They asked me to take my password off to make it easier for them to proceed with their operations. Then they told me "it will take a while"- and asked if I needed to run errands like go to Target. Against my better judgment, I went to Target, leaving my phone behind and returned about 45 minutes later, to see two employees with my phone on a far left hand table looking down at the screen together. Received wonderful customer service from representative Leo. Twice, he helped us find the best deals for our cell phone service needs. We needed to make several changes to our account and plan and he was able to find the best discounts and offers to make the transition easy and with the most savings. On both times, we visited about 30 minutes before closing and he had to say past closing hours to finish helping us (sorry Leo! We really appreciate it!!). But he never made us feel like we were an inconvenience (if I were in his shoes I would totally feel that way haha). He took the time to explain each change to us and how it will affect our bill, service, etc and we walked away feeling informed and very satisfied with our changes. All the workers we crossed paths with were so friendly, attentive, and helpful. When we needed to wait to be seen, they updated us on our wait times and checked in on us too. I'm writing specifically on the Kona AT&T by Target. Being a 64 year technologically challenged guy, I was bummed that I had to upgrade my 6 year old Samsung Galaxy J3. But it was becoming less and less responsive and it was only a G4, and it only had 16GB of internal memory which now had 15.2 GB used. The choices of phones now-a-days are mind numbing. All I wanted was a phone similar to my old J3, but with more internal memory. I wanted all the familiar icons, I wanted them all to be in the same location, I wanted all the same log- in/security features, etc. etc. In other words I didn't want to have to learn anything new. I just wanted a phone to be a phone. I don't need it to be a super computer. I go into Kona AT&T store and a young buck named Justin helped me. First he figured out a billing issue my Filipino wife had (poor guy, he had to sit through a disjointed explanation of "how come my bill like dis"). Then I asked his advise on my issue with upgrading to a better, yet similar phone. His explanation lead me to purchase The Samsung 32A G5. Something no longer available in my local stores or on-line. He was able to transfer all my old stuff from my J3 onto the new phone. I mean everything. If I tried to do this myself, it would have taken a week. The new phone is perfect for what I need it for. In fact, can't wait to use it in Vegas. I am VERY happy with the purchase and with the customer service from AT&T's associate Justin. I bought a new Samsung on the mainland, had it sent to Hawaii, brought over my chargers, bought a new external battery. Opened it and found the cord had changed, my stuff I bought and brought was of no use and had a very stressful week trying to get changed over to a phone and get it charged (a wall adapter plug is also no longer sent). Amoy (an assistant manager at the Kailua-Kona store) and Kanoia (one of the customer service representatives) worked for HOURS and tirelessly to get my pretty complicated issues resolved when NO ONE at the phone customer care could/would. I was ready to leave for Verizon after a particularly difficult hour and a half phone call with a very unhelpful (and I now know LYING) manager, named Ryan, in the "Loyalty Department" (irony??). Overall AT&T, as a company, leaves a very bad taste in my mouth, but if it weren't for the extra efforts of Amoy and Kainoa, who REALLY showed that they cared, this would be a zero star review - and I would be unfairly out almost a hundred bucks! I don't know how much longer AT&T will keep good people on as it seems to be going further and further into automated bots - and people who act like automated bots. Had the most surpisingly easy and fun visit to this ATT store. Around 4:00 p.m. on a Friday afternoon mid-March. 3 - 4 of representatives were busy, but no one waiting. As I walked in I was greeted by a very friendly Bryan, who proceeded to help me set up a new Samsung I had just bought at WalMart for $100. He helped me set up both phones with an app (Smart Switch on Google Play Store) to transfer old phone data to new one. It took about 20 minutes and we had a lovely chat in the meantime. He couldn't have been nicer or easier to work with! I initially avoided going to store as other recent YELP reviews looked painful (I was going to wait until I got back to MN to activate new phone, but I had some time, so I thought I'd attempt. So glad I did!) P.S. There is a graph on their store's website stating typically busy times of day (thought that was helpful!) Also from Bryan's wisdom, stores are usually VERY busy at Christmas time and tax time (when peeps get their refunds back and have money to spend.) Avoid those times of year when possible and check out each store's traffic patterns. read more

Went in the store today happy and eager that we will be getting new phones. We talked prior to an AT&T representative and they said that they had a special going which included getting the iPhone 11 Pro for half off with turning in your used phone. T.j. Helped us from the door to the table. He was friendly but everything we kept telling him he kept saying that he gotta ask his manager who happened to be on the side and she was of no help and no customer service skills whatsoever. There was another worker (Filipino skinny guy) also who looked incredibly bored and kept eyeing us up and down like he wanted to fight. Really bad energy and negative vibes. Well back to our talk with t.j., he said he'll have to talk to his manger and he'll be right back. He ended up going to the back with the manager and left us sitting there for about 15 minutes. We ended up just getting up to check out what Verizon has to offer. We've been customers of AT&T for about 15 years or longer and notice that every time we would go into the Kailua Kona, hi store we always have a really bad and horrible experience. We should have known it was bad from the moment we walked and in and everyone looks annoyed and everyone kept rolling their eyes. So sad that customer service is not the same now a days. We were pleasantly happy and eager to buy new phones but I guess they were not ready to give us great customer service. Well managed store, excellent service with Brian (Bryan?). I came in with a shattered phone and needed a replacement. Well, actually their servers went down, globally, go figure. I waited about and hour for them to go back up. Brian eventually helped me and hooked me up with a new phone less than 20 minutes. Personable, funny, down to earth guy. Went there to look at new phones, once again there deals they boast about are only for new customers and never for existing customers, on this visit the girl who help us was rude short to the point and not very up on what att offers. When transferring our data from one phone to another (two long hours) she had us leave only to come back and find she was on lunch and was not going to help us finish...no one else in the store was going to help us so we sit for over a hour waiting for someone but no one would help, after we asked for the third time they said we could just take our phones and go ...no help to setup or anything else ....customer service at it worst and running wild at this store ....we have a lack of choices here so we are stuck ....they need managers to push there people and hold them accountable. read more

I'm about the most dis-satisfied AT&T customer there is right now. Went in to the store to replace my $15 Go phone after swimming with it in my pocket. Waited 45 mins and the tech put my corroded SIM card into the new $15 phone (I was zoned out and not paying attention at the time). After another 45 mins of purchasing two new phones an Android as well as a new $15 (Android would take 4-days to ship), I was out the door. Before I reached home, 26 miles later, the phone had fried from the corroded SIM card. I returned this morning with the fried phone and was #3 on the list at 9:45. at 10:30 I was still #3 on the list. I went and spoke with dick who said I would have to keep waiting. I told dick I waited 45 mins yesterday for a $15 phone that didn't work and I wasn't waiting another 45mins today for the $15 phone and trashed it on my way out the door. I went to Walmart and was out the door in 30 mins with a new $15 phone. The part that stinks is I have to return to pick up my new Android at the end of the week. What AT&T doesn't tell you: if you don't "make an appointment" you walk in and wait behind all those folks before you AND those with appointments. It's a crappy system that makes a person wait a total of 1.5 hrs for a $15 phone when minimum wage pays a tad over $10/hr. My time is worth more than that to me, AT&T! Dick should have done more to help assuage my frustration now turned anger. He was almost patronizing (hence the name dick) in his manner and if I hadn't been on the verge of losing it, would have asked to speak to his manager. This review is as much about how poor the store manages walk-ins and such. There were three people working with 7 customers waiting. The business model here is so focused on laid back, they fail to offer customer service. I walked in for my first time, was greeted by no one, looked sounds confused, walked up and awkwardly stood by the counter for 10 minutes as reps walked back and forth, but mostly chit chatted with prospective clients. About 15 minutes in after literally chasing an employee who got away before I could ask for help, a regular customer told me I have to check in at the front... An at&t representative having returned there. After that, the wait was about an hour wait. All in all, I just wish this business would stop trying so hard to look cool, and instead put their representatives back at counter on much faster computers than their little data entry pda's, and get some customers handled! read more

To make a long story short, thought I'd lost my iphone, filed a claim yesterday, found it last night. The staff (Adrianna & her supe, and the next day Bryan) were all extremely helpful, forwarding my "lost" phone to my work phone, and then undoing it all the next day with no complaints, only delight at my finding my phone. Felt pretty silly, but they were all about good service. This speaks well for good training, and empathy. I appreciated it! I have found that making an appointment works best (the at&t app lets you do that online), but failing that arrive 10 minutes before opening and you'll be among the first helped. Great customer service experience with Amanda this weekend! We have 5 lines with ATT and have been customers for about 7 years, and we were just about to end all of our contracts and leave after the AWEFUL experince I have had with ATT call center over the past 3 months trying to resolve a problem that was their fault, and getting no respect from any rep I spoke to. I had actually gone to ATT in Kona that day to ask a diffrent question, and after Amanda heard all the trouble and disrespect i was getting from the call center she went out of her way to work with a manager to quickly resolve the problem I have been having for over 3 months with the call center. I was unable to experience service at this particular store because I could not get through on the phone after multiple calls. Maui Mobility "hugs" (-:] found my lost AT&T phone and I hoped AT&T would charge my account to ship it home. AT&T 800 Tech Support also gave up after three failed calls, couldn't email, alert, open trouble ticket, or provide store manager contact; in fact they suggested I find another option since no way to guarantee AT&T would return the phone. Lol....just taking my money since 2006. (FYI: the Kona UPS Store has amazing, prompt, efficient customer service and assistance!) Worst customer service experience in my life. I brought in a old phone and set up a new line (no contract) but I told the sales guy I would Not pay a act fee he said not a problem. Only one problem the charge hit my bill. Instead of calling customer service I went to the store thinking he made a mistake. A manager was brought out because the sales guy I got was very passive. Summer came out and lied to my face saying no one just waves the act fee. Well been with them for about 9 years activated about 5 lines and several upgrades. Her response "well you're very lucky then" I left pissed I had to call customer service I have calling customer service it's usually such a De-service for customers. I hopped on a online chat because the call center said they closed at 6 local time. A person named Jaylen came on was very apologetic about the act fee and the manager Summer. Jaylen did say "sales people are not supposed to wave the act fee but realized I was most likely told it would have been waved. I have been with at&t for about 9 years after I left Sprint of 9 years over a bad customer service call over $20 someone who stole my phone ran up on my bill. Instead of fixing the issue I went to AT&T that day. Jaylen took care of me also upgraded my plan so no data slow down from here on out. My bill is now just under $200 a month for unlimited data and a iPhone 7 installment. There are much cheaper companies out there like Sprint for example but nope no need Jaylen saved my service. Tried to go get an upgrade which I had available they said it would be $250 + $399 for phone plus $40 because it wasn't allowing them to just do upgrade and me pay $399 for phone like I was expecting to pay. I'm writing review just to let people know there are options I walked into target and got my phone upgraded in less than 15 minutes and it was $20 cheaper and I didn't have to pay the $250 upgrade fee. Sometimes other places that have mobile centers are better to go to rather than the actual AT&T store. They were not rude and maybe it was the truth that for some reason they couldn't do it, however does seem strange. They also canceled my appointment so I didn't get a chance to give feedback about my experience so I decided here maybe I could help out other customers. I couldn't get my nice iPhone to take a charge anymore, so I took it to this outlet to see if they could discover the problem. Even though they were swamped, my sales help (Leif) took a quick look at the phone, then started digging lint and crap out of the charger port (duh). In 15 seconds he had it taking a charge again, and suggested where I could find a port plug to keep it from happening again. Didn't want a penny for the service!
