Needed to get a U.S. SIM card & plan while we were here visiting from Canada. I've done this many times before, it's normally a simple process. The guy who was working (kinda goth-y looking, pale skin, dark hair, sweet watercolour tattoos) seemed kinda disinterested in the entire process. We pulled out our ID but was told it wasn't needed. What was needed was a plan that allowed us to contact Canada. It was an additional 5$ per Sim -perfect ! The base plan included unlimited data talk & text for just under 50$ per device including tax. An excellent deal So after we paid and left, my friend tried calling Canada and got a message saying she didn't have enough credit in her account to make the call. We ended up going back to the store. Another employee helped us because the original one: -Did not give us / set up an account pin or an account -Did not take our ID (remember how we had tried to give it to him? Ya he needed that to set up our accounts ...) -Did not charge us the 5$ Canada option ( we had told him this is why we went there) -Did not give us a receipt Thank god he actually had generated an invoice in the computer. It didn't have any names on it., but it matched up. It was confirmed that no he did not charge us the 5$ for each. So the new employee updated all our info, charged us for the Canada stuff, set up the accounts, the pin#'s and have us our receipts. He was helpful and efficient, but overall seemed like he could care less. My friend dropped in later and said the girl who was there was nice.... Thank God for small miracles! read more

To any one who might be thinking of using this company i was a Sprint customer for yrs when I lived in Wa state in 2016 I moved to Hi after I asked Sprint if their service worked in Hi I was told there would be no problem so I kept the service but when I got here it was not that way I couldn't make or receive calls unless i was in the middle of downtown kona anywhere else it was useless & struggled with this for a yr or so & finally they agreed to end my service with no penalty now 7yrs later they hit my credit report from a company called JEFFERSON CAPITAL SYSTEM who is charging me a bunch of money including added fees from them I don't know if something goes happened when t mobile merged with Sprint and they decided to go after a customer for their crappy service and not honor what Sprint did or what but it is a negative impact on my other wise really good credit score my stubbornness won't let me just pay it long story short don't trust this company to do what's right apparently they will go after there customers even after you are no longer with them I will continue to put this on all of their reviews to warn people about their shady practices THANK GOD I SWITCHED TO VERIZON I have never had issues and have been with them for 7 yrs now read more

I drove from Hilo to see about a problem I was having with my fathers phone. The staff went up and beyond to assist me with different solutions to the difficult issues. Manager Seth wrote out specific steps for me to take to get the situation resolved and associate Kiana took the time to confirm my Apple account on a phone that wouldn't get past the lock screen via her iPad. We were very happy and pleased with T-Mobile Expert Kiana , she was a big help And a good listener, very patient and kind . Kiana helped my husband find a phone he would be comfortable with. She set up his new phone and even talked about the senior plan. He felt comfortable knowing that if he had problems with his phone he can just come in and he would receive the help he needs My husband was in need of a good working phone. The one he had was Not working , the volume was so soft he couldn't hear the person on the phone And couldn't hear when someone was calling . There were times that he couldn't call out . When he tried to have it fixed , he found he would have to send it out for a couple of weeks , he cannot be without his phone since he had Doctor appointments over the phone. Since my "Senior Mother" lives an Island away form me, I could not be there to help her set up the new T-Mobile smart-phone and tablet that we bought for her. I want to give a big shout out to RAMON for spending hours with my not-so-computer savvy mom, who not only synced her devices but gave her a crash course in all things technically necessary! She was so grateful to Ramon for his time and patience with her while being short staffed that day, that she asked me if we can do something for him. She also told me that his family was in Puerto Rico during this crisis and his concern for them. We were told that T-mobile helped his family with airline tickets to get them out of Puerto Rico! What an awesome thing for T-mobile to do for one of their employees! I have been with T-Mobile for almost 20 years in the service is always been excellent until I walked into the store in Kona. The people here are not interested in the customers at all and they are not helpful at all. The employees just seem to talk among themselves like a soap opera. there was a lot of flirting with Aaron the manager and another employee. Aaron the manager is the worst. Chris also just ignored me the whole time I stood there. The employees in this store basically ignore you. After waiting for 15 minutes I went outside to wait another 15 min after Aaron told me he would text me when it's my turn . I came back in and waited another 20 minutes not one person looked at me or asked if they could help me so I left. I only had a five-minute question but it was something I needed to find out in person. Avoid the store if at all possible. They don't care about their customers. Just themselves . read more

I spent 6 hours trying to get a replacement phone and eventually had to go to the store to reset my pin code. I walked in and was greeted by a boy named Chris needles to say he was rude from the start. I explained my frustration and ensured him that it wasn't his fault and his reply was that he has his people. Well the way he said it sounded like a threat to me. I am in the service industry as well and I would never say something like that to and of my clients regardless of their attitude towards me or my shop. The T-Mobile Kailua Kona Store number 364, is without a doubt the best of the T-Mobile stores in Hawaii! The staff is so helpful, accommodating and patient. Thank you Nani especially for getting the ball rolling resolving a 3 year old issues we had with my daughters phone. You are without a doubt an asset to your company! We just about gave up trying to resolve things when I stopped into this Kona T-Mobile Store about a month ago.. The Hawaii regional manage got right back to me the next day with lots of options. He was really great to deal withl. I've tried all the different major phone companies. From AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. T-Mobile has given me the best customer service so far. The entire staff is awesome. Julie, helped out my other half into getting a new phone, and I just observed while I was in there. She was amazing. We came in as a last minute customer, and we come out with not only a new phone, but a big smile on our faces (Oh, and an empty bank account, just kidding). I've gotten helped by Rich! Really cool dude. I'm a teen, and Rich is someone I feel like I could hangout with (Not trying to say you're old lol) Anyway, both Rich & Julie give off a family vibe, and the we dig it. My one and only experience at this store doesn't even deserve 1 star. I've been using T-mobile for many many years and never encountered such bad and rude service. My phone was damaged on the flight to Big Island. It was my first time traveling to Big Island and I was all by myself without a phone. Naturally I was frustrated. So the first thing I did upon arrival was going to the store. The guy who I talked to couldn't find my name as the owner of the account. (It later turned out my husband changed the owner with my other name when he moved to ATT.) I used the demo phone there to call my husband trying to solve this. My husband tried to change the name online but for some reason it didn't work. The shop assistant grew more and more impatient and showed no interest, no flexibility, no courtesy, no professionalism in finding a solution. I told my husband he didn't want to talk on the phone and this comment obviously angered the guy. He said "You shouldn't have told your husband that. What you said to your husband could affect his view about us and he may be an important customer...You crossed the line. I've got a video recorder on top of me. You can jeopardize my job. I can't help you. You are not even a customer. Good bye. I'm done talking to you." The other two guys remained silent and stared. I was literally kicked out of the store and was in tears. I felt so humiliated and helpless. It felt like I ran into a mafia store or something. I felt this guy might hit me if I persisted. Luckily there's Verizon next door that saved me and my trip. The guys there helped me with great patience and kindness even though I was truly not their customer! I ended up buying a phone and plan there. read more
