Even though I have a couple 'regular' places I like to go in Ahwatukee, the only chance I'd have for a manicure before my morning flight would be at lunch today, and since I work downtown, my regulars were out. I called and asked if they did gel manicures and what the wait time was. They said yes to the gels and no waiting. I couldn't help wonder if they were being less than truthful based on the earlier reviews I read. I was thinking about this as I passed 2 or 3 other strip mall nail salons... When I arrived, they looked a little busy but were able to take me right away. The girl doing my manicure was very sweet and quiet. As she was removing my old polish, I asked if they were usually more or less busy weekdays at lunchtime or if this was about normal today. Her reply was 'Sunday'. Lol. Definite language barrier. She was very meticulous with my manicure and polish. The job was okay, but could have been a bit better, especially for the amount of time she was taking. I think she was pretty new, but very nice. They don't look horrible, and I've definitely had worse, but my 'regulars' do a better job. As my nails were 'drying' in the UV lamp, she walked behind me, moved my hair out of the way and proceeded to squirt some lotion on my back, under my shirt! Really! Lol - needless to say I was a bit surprised, but she started to rub my shoulders and neck and gave a really great massage. I was grateful but the lotion thing really took me by surprise! Since it took longer, I wasn't able to grab a bite at AJ's like I was hoping and had to settle for Taco Hell. I literally scarfed a bean burro driving down 7th Ave back to the office as the alarm on my phone was going off alerting me to the 1:30 meeting that started in 15 minutes. All in all I'd say it was okay, not super awesome but not terrible. I'd definitely go back if only for the included neck and shoulder massage but I'll plan on it taking a while. read more

I love to grab a pedi at VKs mid work week. It's a very popular spot on weekend, so mid work week is important. They take their time with you - my last pedi was an hour and a half. Recently moved to Phoenix and had my sister visiting for the weekend and wanted to take her to get her toes done. Went to Elle nails and were immediately rushed to, "Pick a color!". We felt very rushed and didn't get to sit right next to each other when there were seats available. We got a gel polish change and the job they did was really good. No gaps or mistakes. The price was incredibly cheap for great work. Overall they did a great job and let us look at the colors again before deciding (but we had to ask). My friend & I went there for a mani/pedi. We had the works for a treat. What I found particularly disturbing is that the tools that all the manicurists use are kept in a wire bin on their cart. They are NOT sterile, ladies! They have containers of Barbasol on the counters I would guess in case the State Board of Cosmetology decides to inspect. NONE of those containers had instruments in them. Instruments should be clean for EACH manicure/pedicure, NOT pulled from a metal bin. Additionally, they use the same gloves over and over on each client. When finished with my pedicure, the lady removed her gloves and put them back in the cart. RUN!!! I spent the better part of my afternoon today searching Yelp for a good nail salon. Summer has arrived in Phoenix, so naturally, I'll be wearing flip-flops and open-toed shoes more often, and my feet were in serious need of a pedicure. After finally settling on V-K Elle based on the great recommendations, I headed over without an appointment. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a friendly male nail tech. He asked what I wanted and then asked me to pick a color. Once I did, he asked me to take a seat in the first pedicure chair. I waited a good fifteen minutes before a tech became available, and it was around that same time they turned on the water and allowed me to soak my feet. Tina was assigned to me. Though her English was pretty poor, she was friendly and reserved. She asked if I wanted my toenails trimmed then went to work. The only other question she asked was whether I wanted to pay an extra $5 for the callus remover treatment, to which I said yes. She scrubbed the hell out of my feet, which they desperately needed, and shaped my toenails nicely. After she rubbed my feet and legs with a scrub of some sort, she spent quite a while massaging lotion and oil into them. It was nice; I'm not a fan of really deep massage on my shins, and she didn't go overboard. I could have done with a deeper massage on my calves and feet, but I could have spoken up about that. Once she was done, she rinsed me off and applied the color I'd chosen (a gorgeous, deep, red OPI which had, unfortunately, lost its label). After she slipped a pair of disposable flip-flops on my feet, I paid her ($25 before tip, which included the callus remover treatment and polish) and waited a few minutes for the polish to dry. As I was waiting, the same man who had greeted me came by, thanked me for my visit, asked my name, and asked me to please return. I definitely will! A few things to note: Pro: Tina and the male tech apologized a few times for my having to wait so long. That was considerate of them. Con: While I was still on the chair with my feet resting on the bench waiting for the polish to dry, Tina tried to clean the tub while my feet were still up. She looked at me like wasn't sure what to do, so I offered to get down and instead sit on the manicure chair beside me. There wasn't anyone waiting behind me, so she could have waited the extra five minutes I was there to clean her station. Con: There's a tacky sign on the wall which encourages customers to pay their tips in cash. This isn't a forced policy, thankfully, but it made me roll my eyes a bit. read more

I have been to this salon many times and am always pleased with the results. Some of the techs are more careful than others (I like Huong, Tan, and Lisa). I keep going back for the beatutiful designs that they do on all 10 toes. It will set you back a bit at $15 extra for the design but for a special occasion is completely worth it. I am always being complemented on my nails and will continue to use this salon. I highly recommend making an appointment as well because they are typically pretty busy. read more

Had to continuously tell the attendant that the water they walked away from was way too hot. She came back three times to add cooler water instead of just standing there being patient and waiting if it was okay for me temperature wise. She acted as though I was a big bother. Then the actual nail tech did not clean my feet with the scrub they use she spread it on, literally touched the sponge once to my heel, then told me to wash it off in the water. She then cut my nails real quick, rubbed the salt scrub onto my legs but did not massage it in and wiped it right off as soon as she put it on. Then the 10 minute cream massage they advertise was over in 7 minutes I checked my phone. This was the most horrible nail experience I have ever had and I go to salons at least 8 times a year if not more. Will never come back to this location..ever! I will go 15 or 20 our of the way to go somewhere I'm appreciated and taken care of properly. read more

I love this place been getting my nails done here since like February. It's not to expensive and they do a wonderful job. I got my nails done at the beginning of July. And then found out, the last week of July, that I was going on a trip to California with my son. And couldn't get back to the nail salon until the first week of September. And my nails, were still on. I would of just had to get a refill but I got bored, and peeled then all off while waiting. But yeah you just go in there and they'll get to you rather quick. I believe the longest I have ever had to wait was 30 mins. But that's only because I wanted someone specific. See I was in a car accident and can't fully open of my hands. And even though, it takes more time. I get them done, TO MY SATISFACTION. I've had issues with getting my nails done at other places, in the past. Here there NEVER has been an issue. What a good experience I had at this nail salon. I had gotten my nails done a month before somewhere by the mall, cost me 30 something dollars but they did last a month. I filed them down& removed old polish and went into Elle Nails since it was close by and for $15 and a $5 tip I walked out with beautiful beautiful nails in a very short time. This place is filthy!!!!! There are nail salons on every corner. Drive a mile in any direction and find one that owns a mop. I tried to power through and keep going here because everyone goes here. And then they turned my nail black. Probably dirty tools. If they can't sweep a floor, why would they clean their tools? Their chairs are old and broken. There is always a wait. And it is like a Seinfeld episode as they speak another language and point at you and laugh. You can do better. read more

I actually went to their second location at Central and Dunlap. I really wanted to love it given the convenience, but did not have a great experience. I just did the spa pedicure which did turn out nice, but was not very relaxing given the fact that I was overwhelmed by how dirty the place was!! There was about 1-2 inches of dust behind all of the chairs and it looked like they literally had not swept the floor in weeks. The front desk was a disaster and on display for everyone to see! Plus there were a couple of hundred magazines stacked on top of each other, in a big pile by the front door. The only reason I'm giving them two stars is because my nails don't look bad. It's not the best gel manicure I've gotten but not bad. The customer service here is terrible. The ladies working here are not very nice but the worst part is they couldn't figure out how to use their credit card system. They will ONLY take credit and couldn't use my bank card as credit only debit and wouldn't let me use the pin pad to enter my pin. I had to walk to Walmart and buy something for cash back! I've been getting manis and pedis since I was 16 and when I moved here from San Diego I thought I would never find a nail salon as good as mine. Success! Now when my sister and Mom are in town from San Diego they come with me. Nowhere else in the world has a $10 manicure where they give you a 10 minute back and neck massage and give you a perfect manicure. Seriously, I feel like I struck gold when I found them. They are very busy but never rush you and are always free for walk-ins. I never make an appointment because I like everyone there and I have never waited more than 5 minutes to sit down. When someone finally told me to go sit on one of the pedicure chairs, I was left there for 20 minutes. No one even turned on the water so my feet could soak. AT Elle Nails is sadly one if the most horrible nail shops I've been to in Phoenix. The employees have nothing better to do then spend their time talking about you obnoxiously. The have the blacks and hispanics pay ahead before their nails are even done. I've been here several of times. I always leave with something I didn't want or my nails fall off in a couple of days. They shave your nail down so much that you'll need to keep getting them done because you won't be able to wear them natural. I dislike the treatment I have received while getting my nails done here. The employees not sticking to price that's posted, but instead charging $15 tax. It's absurd that women will talk about other in such a horrible fashion, and thank God I speak mandarin. read more

This was the worst pedicure I have EVERhad!! I will say that I went in at a semi-busy time of day without an appointment. Needless to say, this was the quickest pedicure I have ever had. When I looked at my nails to check if they were dry I noticed two of the nails had bubbles and the paint extended beyond my nail bed. The lady who had done the pedi had already started on another customer, and had to leave them to come back and fix my nails. My friend was also having a pedi done and said that there were still rough spots on her heels. I will never go back to this place again. read more

I've been going to VK Elle nails on Camelback since I moved here 3 years ago. I've tried a few other salons along the way but keep going back. Yes, its likely that you'll wait a few minutes for your service due to the large following they have but I can assure you that the wait is worth it. And once in the chair, you'll never feel rushed. This place is AWFUL! 1) I watched one of the employees paint a guest who had ROTTEN FUNGUS toenails with nail polish and then put the brush back in the bottle...and then put the bottle back on the shelf!!! Disgusting. Isn't fungus extremely contagious?!?! 2) I had a facial wax there and my face broke out with a rash that didn't go away for 8 months. 3) When I went there - only to fix one broken nail....she proceeded to do a 'Fill' - without even bothering to ask me. She's like my hair stylist, her advice is spot on. I always call ahead and book my appointments. I ask specifically for Dee. I have always been really happy with the pedicures that I have had here. They do a great job, the staff is always nice, and they give GREAT leg massages. This is by far my favorite place to get a pedicure. I've always been really happy with their nail art too. On the other hand, I've never been really happy with their manicures. I have natural nails, I don't do acrylics. I don't like how they shape them, and they seem to do it quickly such that they are somewhat uneven. They always file the tops of my nails, presumably to help the polish adhere, but my nails don't react well to it. I had a gel manicure once, and it seemed they were really rough taking off the polish. Then again, I don't do manicures often and I've never had one done elsewhere. Maybe this is just how they are? Anyway, I can't recommend them for this. Their peducures are awesome though! On Saturdays making an appointment is a good idea. read more

This is a great nail salon with friendly, personable staff and very high quality work for a very reasonable price. They give the best and longest leg massages and they also give you shoulder massages with your manicure! I've been coming here for years and have never had any issues or complaints. The only negative about it is that you always have to wait a really, really long time to be seen. Solution? Call and make an appointment. Simple as that, problem solved. read more

I'm so disappointed because I came here one other time with my sister and got a pedicure and had an AMAZING experience. This time around I came to get a full set and had the worst experience I've ever encountered at a nail salon. The lady who did my nails was on a phone call on her Bluetooth for almost the entire time she was doing my nails expect for maybe 5 minutes. She also proceeded to answer a FACETIME call during the time she was doing my nails. She had me pay before painting my nails which I thought was a good idea so I wouldn't have to worry about damaging my nails while getting my wallet. After she painted my nails she went to the last pedicure chair in the back and FELL ASLEEP!!!!!! She didn't once come to check on me or see if my nails were dry or not. I sat there for almost 15 minutes with my nails in front of a small fan waiting for them to dry without being acknowledged by anyone. Very disappointed. My nails came out alright, however there are areas where you can tell she rushed and did not care. Probably won't come back. read more

You MUST go, the best pedicure I've had in a long time! The foot/leg massage lasted well over 15 minutes. My nails look perfect. The salon was nice and quiet...no loud/annoying music, just soft guitar/piano melodies. The spa chairs are very luxurious, and the decor is tasteful. They really are trying to create a spa-like atmosphere and they seem to have it all right. The nail technicians were not talking the entire time to each other and when they did talk they kept their voices low. I will definitely go back again. FYI...they give you a complimentary sea salt scrub in the $20 manicure price! Any other salon wants $5-10 extra for this. read more

As much as I like the service here, it's the unabashed lies and endless waiting amid gaggles of shrilly giggling Xavier girls that has chapped my ass to the point where I'm done with this place. They have a handy trick of popping you in the pedicure throne with your feet in the water without telling you how long the wait is, and by the time you've realized it's going to be forty minutes' wait, it seems like more of a hassle to get up and dry your feet. Clever me started asking how long the wait was as soon as I walked through the door, at which point someone inevitably looks around and lies through their teeth when they say "10 or 15 minutes". Multiply that by three and maybe you get the truth. Once I even made an appointment, trying to avert frustration, but my payoff was that I "only" waited 20 minutes. went in here not too long ago because my first two go to nail places were booked up. walked in and got attended fairly quick. asked for a full set of nails and showed a picture of how i wanted my nails and described to them that i wanted my nails longer. my natural nails were already long but i had wanted fake nails so i can get the length that i wanted. i guess she didn't understand me or i wasn't clear enough but she just worked with my natural nail and made them shorter than they already were. i asked for coffin and it came out uneven and crooked. and i really don't like short coffin nails to begin with. i have to have them long. the design turned out super cute though so i'll give her that. the only problem i really had was that the nail shape turned out really bad. i don't think i'll be coming back :/ read more

Well they lost my business. Had a gel nail fill twice that the tech did not completely cover the nail to the cuticle as there was a noticeable gap. Hence after a 1/2 week it looked like it had been two weeks plus since having them done. Decided to go with French gel to avoid the color issue. Other than white tips painted on and one clear coat applied, the charge was $35. I suspect she was in a hurry for her next client that was waiting. What's more I noticed after I left some nails were rounded and some were squared and one nail has since lifted off. She was on the phone the whole time. I do not mind paying for quality work, but this is clearly get 'em in and get 'em out. read more

If I could give no stars I would !!! Terrible service !! Outrageous prices !! And nasty attitudes !! My and my boyfriend go to get pedicures together everytime I come to Arizona !! We came in after leaving the gym, they immediately say is down to do our toes. I could bately feel the heating sensation of the water before she began to take the polish of my toes and do my feet . I told her I had regular polish on my nails and held on my hands she obviously wasn't listening and began to take off the polish using a tool to shave down acrylic. While shaving down my toes I politely told her I had regular polish !! She switched her technique... She charged me 45$ even though on the paper it was 30 I guess because I got gel .. But my boyfriend got the same thing except with paraffin and she charged him 45$.. !!! She said it was 40$ but 5$ more for buffing his nails???? Wtf?? Afterwards I was suppose to get a fill in .. She sat me in a chair and I waited 30 mintues while she did someone else toes and and two other women who came before me got their nails done ... Rude rude rude .. At the 35 min mark I was fed up and ask how much my pedicure was .. And the nail tech beside said I don't know and shrugged her shoulders and continued to do her customers nails ... The worst customer service. I waited in a seat for 40 minutes before anyone even turned the water on. The water was scalding hot and no one came to fix the temperature for another 10 minutes. My 6 year old daughter does a better job painting nails than the gal that did mine. The nail polish started chipping the very next day. Last, but not least, they gave me ATHLETES FOOT!!!!! I should have ran out the door the second I noticed the tools were already unwrapped and at the bottom of the cart. I also watched a woman sit in a chair that another person just got out of and it was not even sanitized. DONT GO HERE!!!! read more
