I didn't break the lease I was told If you gonna be able to find a new tenant I'm gonna be able to walk away from the lease. And I paid the difference after I moved out and the new tenant moved in. I'm outraged by the fees they charged me...people be aware there is a lot of hidden fees before you sign the lease read carefully! They gonna charge you for this and that....This company also overcharged me for maintenance fees! its making money by ripping off people. I replaced the a/c filter and there was no damaged smoking detector or missing bulbs. And they charged me $198 for nothing! For hidden damages! And the yard yes I agree I didn't cut the grass so they charged me $179.30 for 10×10 townhouse yard cleaning for cutting the grass basically there us nothing to clean there. And the garbage what garbage I put everything in the trash can and what i supposed to do take the trash with me??? If garbage day is Monday and i moved out on Sunday. So basically they charged me for taking the trash cans out! I will never recommend to rent from this company for all my friends and anybody! read more

I lived in one of their properties for 3 years. Paid rent on time (actually early). Everything seemed fine until it came to maintenance. They take the cheap option. Ex: the dishwasher flooded underneath the flooring so some of the wood panels had to be replaced. They went with a cheaper wood that didn't match the rest of the flooring and didn't even run flush with the cabinets. Another ex: the AC kept kicking off. Mechanics would come to "fix" the issue. We later found out, they were putting a bandaid on the problem. Our AC went out again for over 5 days in the summer. We asked if they would pay to relocate us temporarily until the AC was fixed. They said no- it was my spouse, cat and myself living in a space that was 90°! As they were fixing the AC, construction took over the living room making it uninhabitable- no compensation, just an experience of cleaning up after the repair. As we moved out, they came up with ridiculous fees (processing, admin, cleaning). When we moved out, the unit was cleaner than moving in. This company does not care for their tenants. I've heard horror stories of how they have treated others but I was being hopeful. This company is full of inconsiderate managers, often with attitude problems, as well as hidden and made up fees. Would not recommend. Rent if you dare. read more

I would strongly discourage renters in Key West from using At Home Key West. They do unfair, bad business. We had to cancel our trip to Key West this year because our flights were canceled and the CDC recommended that people not travel for Thanksgiving. We had purchased travel insurance. The claim was denied and At Home Key West essentially stole $2800 from us. They should not hold people to the same standards as pre-Covid; it is impossible. Follow up emails and phone calls have not been returned. My family visits Key West every year and we have used other companies with great success. Property owners do not use. Very negative experience. They would throw away all linens after rentals saying they were stained but not replace them saying there was not enough money left in security deposit. They often would charge (or try) for unnecessary repairs because they make a percentage on them. This was confirmed when I asked for a receipt after replacing our thermostat (so we could get energy rebate) and they could not provide one. Do not recommend as a home owner or renter. My family and I have stayed in various homes and town homes in Key West through At Home KW for over 12 years. Last summer was our last. We were coming to the end of the week and requested a late checkout. Initially, no issue from At Home. Unfortunately, we received a frantic message the morning we were scheduled to leave (and received permission for a late checkout) that we needed to vacate ASAP. We were frustrated to say the least. I am a licensed attorney in NC and went to the office to discuss the dilemma in person with the manager. Libby not only was unable to offer and alternative she threatened to call the police if I didn't leave the office. I was calm (but frustrated) never raised my voice or made any threats. I was appalled. This summer when scheduling our annual trip to KW we used another rental company and could not be more pleased (Historic Hideaways). The funniest part was when we called At Home to book a home this summer, Libby called to confirm that I would not be causing any trouble and if I'm going to cause any problems then my family cannot rent from them. Dear Libby, your responses to negative reviews that your 30 plus year record speaks for itself is laughable. Folks, look at the negative reviews, they are part of your record Libby!! Maintenance is non-existent, and they offer a bullying attitude towards top-knotch, clean, high-end tenants in high-rent properties. I sent the following email to them about the negative treatment i received by a member of their team and they have never responded back. So here is the email and my story... Hi, I was looking to rent four properties, for a week, from you guys (due to the number of people in our family) and utilized the Chat function on your site to inquire about how we should proceed. The chat said I was speaking with Libby and I will let you know that she is the sole reason you lost out on our business. At a point in our conversation she asked if someone else from my party was calling about the property as well, to which i replied No. She told me it was odd because someone was asking for the same dates and party size (which really wasn't correct because she stated that they had 11 occupants and i told her we had 11 adults and 13 children). I said well then we should get on with my reservation so they don't get my rooms :). She then told me that that she had to go and disconnected immediately from the chat. I will have to say that i was very upset by this and reinstated the chat session and she actually was the one to respond to it. I asked her why she hung up and was i to understand that you guys did not want our business to which she never replied. Once she did respond, she proceeded to tell me that i just needed to call to handle the reservation and i informed her that my cell was dead, no charger and this is why i was using the internet (on my iPad). She asked for my number and when i gave it to her she said that whoever called had the same area code. I informed her that there were over 1 million people with that area code and wasn't that uncommon for people to have the same one. So i am not sure if this conduct is accepted or encouraged but, by her actions she has cost you around $10K or more in rental fees that we will now pay to someone else. So how you proceed from here will show how you guys handle business and care for your customers as well as how I proceed in my future dealings and vacations in your area. To say the least, I am very disappointed in how i was treated (basically being called a liar) and feel it is unacceptable. Renters Beware, especially military! We rented a long term rental for 2 years from AHIKW. We should have gone with our gut instinct and not rented from them, as they were very difficult to work with when first trying to rent the apartment. We first contacted AHIKW, 5 months before moving to Key West about an apartment that was going to be available. After going through the application process we sent a $500 deposit, which we were originally told would hold the apartment until it was available. We received an email stating we needed to sign the lease and send the remaining $5,000+ within 2 weeks of sending the $500 deposit. My now husband was away on deployment and unable to send money or sign the lease in front of a notary. AHIKW did not care nor were they willing to wait 6 weeks for him to return. During ours and the previous tenants time in the apartment, there were several plumbing issues that were never completely fixed causing flooding into the downstairs apartments. We had to deal with maintainance and plumbers constantly. Our wedding day happened to be one of them. There were several of us that planned on showering at our apartment when there was an issue and were told we could not use the showers until it was fixed. We had to make alternate plans. I couldn't even shower in my own apartment on my wedding day. We rarely called for any issues with the apartment and usually just fixed them ourselves. Whenever we did call about an issue, the person answering the phone was very rude. When we went to move out, we replaced all the lightbulbs with the same or better bulbs than what was in the apartment when we moved in and even left several bulbs. We were still charged $90 for lightbulbs. We were told the maintenance person did not see them or he would have used them, but yet they acknowledged they were in a cabinet when I said they were on the dryer. We hired a professional carpet cleaner, as required, to clean the carpets, but were unaware that the very old, outdoor carpet used in an unused stairway also required cleaning, which we were charged $110. We also used a professionally cleaner recommended by AHIKW yet we were still charged $300 to clean the apartment. We were also charged a $75 administrative fee. During our time in Key West I recommended AHIKW to several incoming military families, I going forward will steer any future military families from AHIKW. I notified AHIKW that I would be posting a negative review, I received this response: "Your threat to post negative comments on the internet amounts to blackmail. Perhaps your threat along with your not honoring your contractual obligations should be brought to (my husband's) commanding officer's attention." I welcome them to contact my husband's commanding officer and will provide them with his contact information, as it is my right to post a factual, negative review on any company. read more

No problems with the rental company itself. 4 stars for the rental unit Linger Longer. Beds are very uncomfortable. For $300.00+ a night, the mattresses should not be saggy and hard to sleep on. Everything was in working order, but very dated. Again, for the price paid all windows should have window coverings and a bit more updated appliances, etc. I'd use the company again, but would prefer a more updated unit. read more

Several years ago i had purchased a home thru ATIKW and found the process to be very easy. So I decided to have them manage my property and so far i am very pleased on how they take care of my home. I rent my home when I'm not there and so far because of there vetting process I've had some pretty amazing tenants except for one.Yes folks it does happen and by no means was it the fault of AHIKW.So if you read any reviews about them trying to force the tenant to pay for repairs that they did not cause it is totally untrue.For example my last tenant poured drain-o down one of the sinks that had a garbage disposal and ruined it.This disposal was replaced just a few yrs back.So after careful consideration it was decided not to charge the tenant and I payed for the replacement.So the bottom line is don't be afriaid to use AHIKW there a great company and will go that extra mile read more

My wife and I lease homes by the month in Key West. We have been doing that for years. For the last 3 out of 5 years we have booked through LIDA at "At Home In Key West". Excellent properties, well maintained, fantastic service by Lida and others in Key West. Doesn't get much better. For those who are complaining, read your contract before you sign. Last year (2017) we were there for the September hurricane and had a property booked for November. I thought I had a complaint myself, but upon reading the contract more closely, I realized I did not have a valid complaint. Again, read your contracts! I was confused and misinformed about about a deposit. To my surprise I was required to send a check or money order which in my experience is out of the ordinary, although I would have given had I been given a chance. When I asked about the deposit and policy I was met with well you signed the contract deal with it. Then I pointed out the reason I thought it wasn't due yet was because in their correspondence it said it wasn't due yet which I was again told well all that really matters is the original contract. So when I objected to these responses and how I was being treated, I was then hung up on twice. I requested to talk to someone else multiple times and was denied. All the previous happened this past evening. When I got to my office this morning after a meeting I discovered that this same lady, Libby, had canceled my reservation and told my money would be returned for breach of contract. This is the worst customer experience of my life! I see that this is not the first time Libby has been given a bad review. read more

We wanted to book a condo thru them but were told that an IDENTICAL one was available on the property, the so-called same place had no internet wireless service, had no cable tv and was right next to US 1 - the main road coming in and out of the Keys. The accomodations were so unpleasant we left a day early. This company made us feel like we were liars for expecting the same thing that the first condo had. They never remedied the situation nor offered to give us any money back as a goodwill gesture. Appeals to the state of Florida or to the Key West Chamber of Commerce proved fruitless. We feel this was the old "Bait and Switch" and would suggest thinking very carefully before booking thru this outfit. Finally to top it off everytime we talked to the receptionist (I forgot her name) she was very boorish and was acting like she was doing us a favor! read more

RENTERS BEWARE! What a vacation rental's posting fails to reveal can lead to disappointment. This was our experience in renting the Crowner's Jewel townhome at 516 Porter (Truman Annex) in Key West. While the location was good, the two upstairs bathrooms were not. The only photo of a bathroom in this rental is of the one upstairs off the hall and it looked acceptable. What is not shown is the shower. Opening the curtain reveals a mini-shower with badly cracked tiles on the front lip. Previous reviews have described this as a "small" shower. How small? It's 28" deep by 26" wide. By the time you allow for the protruding shower head and handle, you are standing in a space barely more than 2' x 2'. It felt like being in an outdoor phone booth or an RV bathroom. If you're a woman, shaving your legs was a real challenge and it resulted in a fall. The bathroom in the master bedroom was worse. We saw a closet. When the two folding doors were opened, we discovered the "small bath ensuite"---a water closet within inches of the bed. Privacy was non-existent. Once inside with the doors closed, there was only 2' between the door and the inside wall. And yes, it had the same size mini-shower. We had two conversations with the rental agent while in Key West regarding the listing's failure to disclose the serious limitations of the 2 upstairs bathrooms. We requested an adjustment in the cost but are in our second week at home and no reply has been received as promised. The agent told us in our face-to-face meeting that we should have asked more questions before agreeing to sign a rental agreement. Translation: Renters beware! We will look elsewhere for next year. Just returned from a stay at Duval Sea Turtle and this property exceeded our expectations. It was a great location in easy walking distance to everything on Duval. The unit was spotlessly clean and everything was in working order. The air-conditioning worked great (important in Key West), the guest bedroom upstairs could get a little warm but closing the curtains during the day and leaving the bedroom door open during the day helped tremendously. There are also ceiling fans in all of the rooms. The property is stocked with just about anything you can think of in the kitchen (I mean anything... there was even a slow-cooker in one of the cabinets!) and cleaning supplies (including dish soap). The beds and baths were all well stocked, lovely fluffy towels (and plenty of extras), beach towels for the pool, extra sheets, cleaning supplies, etc... The unit was very quiet, no traffic noise and no noise from Duval. Did not hear anything other than the occasional rooster. It is also an end unit so plenty of light. Nice balconies on main floor and off of the master suite on the second floor, both had ceiling fans. Parking garage is a little tight but the parking space was plenty big (we were traveling with a Chevy Suburban and were able to get into the spot. There is a large elevator from the parking garage up to the main courtyard were the units were accessed. Everything is gated so no problems with security. Large pool deck with a nice shallow pool. perfect for cooling off Wi-fi was great, no issues getting connected. Easy check in and check out process. Would not hesitate to stay here again! read more

At Home in Key West manages my rental property. I live in New Jersey and can only visit twice a year, so I rely heavily on them to take care of my property. They do an outstanding job. They respond immediately to a renter's needs. In the event something needs repaired they have an excellent maintenance staff that can abate most repairs. In the event a contractor or repair person must be called, they deal with the most reputable businesses in Key West. The housekeeping staff keeps the property very clean. Guests often comment on the cleanliness of the condominium.The At Home Staff is courteous, responsive and extremely reliable. They do an excellent job marketing our property and we have had a very successful working relationship. I have been solicited by many other management companies, but I would never think of giving my business to someone else. I would recommend At Home in Key West without Reservation. read more

Five stars go to AHIKW because of their prompt customer service and follow through. We rented a condo in Truman Annex/Shipyard the first week of December. First, Lida responded within minutes of our inquiry on VRBO, and even offered a discount on the rental rate. She was very warm and efficient, so we booked. The published listing for this unit indicated a grill, which was very important to us, as we do most of our cooking on a grill. Upon arrival we noticed no grill. Within minutes of our phone call, Bridget arrived to explain a new Truman Annex ban on outside grills (which they are trying to negotiate) then she promptly went out and bought a George Foreman grill (still not the same but a fair alternative). She also bought a few minor kitchen items that were missing, and sent someone to scrub the back deck, which was a bit messy. Kudos to the team for being so responsive. We will be using AHIKW for future bookings. Thank you! read more
